Joan Collins wore Valentino and dressed as Alexis Carrington for the Met Gala

Joan Collins has never been to the Met Gala before, which is a shame, but it’s fitting that this year would be her first year. Joan dressed as her Dynasty character, Alexis Carrington, in a giant white silk and feather Valentino gown. She was dripping in diamonds, wearing a diamond tiara and carrying a feather. Joan is camp and she embodied glamour meets camp. She looks like one of those high end designer Barbies. Remember the Bob Mackie Barbies? I love it!

Here’s Joan’s announcement. The dress even has a bow at the back.

Even Naomi Campbell is paying respects. She was also in Valentino, in a pink grecian dress with a feather cape paired with lace stockings. She’s not nailing the theme, but she’s closer to it than a lot of the models were last night. Valentino is usually campy, but it’s like they stayed at the same level of camp and didn’t take it up enough.

Julianne Moore wore a chartreuse sequin scoop neck Valentino with layers of ruffles which was an eyesore. I love her but I also know her fashion and it often veers fug. So while another actress might get a pass on this considering the event I just think it’s bad. I’m sorry!

Naomi had a man walking around her fanning her so that her hair and feathers would billow as she walked up the carpet.

Julianne seems to think fug Is camp.

Julianne looks like she’s wearing a dance recital costume that my sister had as a six year-old in like 1980 and I’m LOVING it. The chartreuse sequins, it’s fabulously horrible. My sister is a redhead too, so the likeness is really spot-on. Naomi looks like she is fully embracing the ridiculousness, and she’s beautiful to boot. Joan Collins is the living embodiment of camp and looks exactly as she should.

Hey! That’s Violet Chachki, winner of RPDR7, behind Naomi Campbell. She doesn’t look very campy though….

    • Janey says:

The back of Violet Chachki’s gown was a giant glove. So the gown was a glove. Def. campy! It’s just hard to see here.

  5. C-Shell says:

Kudos to Dame Joan. How awesome is it to DRESS AS YOURSELF and hit the “Camp” theme solidly on the nose?!

My heart hurts for Julianne Moore.

What is that putrid green color Julianne is wearing. Poor Julianne

Is it just me, or does that group picture look like a shot of the Capital from Hunger Games?

Naomi is giving me strong 80’s Frederick’s of Hollywood vibes and it is absolutely some fantastically high camp, in my opinion.
