Princess Charlotte will join her big brother at Thomas’s Battersea school in the fall

The wedding of Princess Eugenie of York and Jack Brooksbank

Surprising no one, it was announced last Friday that Princess Charlotte of Cambridge will be joining her big brother at Thomas’s Battersea for big-girl school in the fall. To their credit (I believe), William and Kate are pretty particular about their kids’ education, and I think they both wanted a co-education for their kids in the early years. I think they chose Thomas’s Battersea in the first place for George with the idea that Charlotte would join him eventually, and Louis too. I think the Cambridges also like Thomas’s Battersea because it’s not full of the children of aristocrats and big-name political operatives. God knows, George will get that when he eventually enrolls in Eton. But for now, George and Charlotte are going to the same school!

Make room on the playground for Princess Charlotte! The 4-year-old royal will join her big brother, Prince George, 5, at Thomas’s Battersea in September, Kensington Palace announced on Friday.

“We are delighted that The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have decided that Princess Charlotte will join her elder brother, Prince George, at Thomas’s Battersea,” Simon O’Malley, Headmaster at Thomas’s Battersea, said. “We greatly look forward to welcoming her and all of our new pupils to the school in September.”

Charlotte previously attended Willcocks Nursery School, which she began in January 2018. The school, which is housed in a church hall, is next door to London’s Royal Albert Hall, and very close to the family’s Kensington Palace home. A royal source tells PEOPLE, “They chose that nursery because they thought it would be an ideal first step for Charlotte’s education and they were impressed by the team who work there.”

I totally forgot that Charlotte goes to nursery school in London. George did not – he went to a small nursery school close to Anmer Hall in Norfolk, because that was back when the Cambridges lived almost full-time at Anmer. Anyway, from what little we’ve seen of Charlotte, she’s a little pistol and I’m sure she’ll be running that school with an iron fist soon enough. Now Kate will only have one baby at home! Yeah, she’ll want a fourth.

Yeah I’m not surprised, that was definitely always the plan. Can’t believe how big she has gotten!

I thought it was put out at the time that they (always) wanted a place that both kids could be at school together (co-ed). Makes sense to me (only one school run). I also read that they really are not considering Eton as a secondary…? Wasn’t it put out they’re considering Marlborough, Kate’s old school? I’m thinking they would want another co-ed school for secondary as well.

Love the garden pics. They look so non royal.
    🙂

Freddie Windsor’s kids go there as well. I did notice William kind of buddy-buddy with him at a recent event, so that’s interesting to see how dynamics have changed there.

    • Himmiefan says:

Freddie Windsor reminds me of the royal Hunger Games in the show The Windsors. “Poor Freddie Windsor!”

She looks so much like Queen E. Those genes are Strong.

    • Seraphina says:

Yes I think she has very strong resemblance to QE. The genes are very strong in her.

    • LahdidahBaby says:

YES, and I predict she will be Queen one day. Her timid and petulant big bro will refuse to ascend the throne, and it will be *All hail, Queen Charlotte.*

Although “Queen Charlotte” doesn’t have quite the ring of traditional royal names…but Charlotte will make it royal. Hell, she even had the royal wave down by the time she was three.

      • JanetDR says:

There has been at least one Queen Charlotte, wife of George the 3rd.

      • Cherie says:

I’ll bite. Where did you get timid and petulant from the handful of photos we’ve seen of this kid?

      • Casey20 says:

OMG, they’re kids…poor George and Charlotte the judging and pitting the heir and spare against each other has a!ready begun. It was a mistake for the Cambridge’s to use them for Kate’s Garden. They can’t put the cat back in the bag! Hopefully Sussex’s want use Archie for their benefit. It doesn’t give these kids a chance when the parents act irresponsibly.

      • AtlLady says:

No, she would not be Queen Charlotte. Look at that face in the photos. Her regnal name of choice would be Queen Elizabeth III. And she would wear it well.

      • Monicack says:

        Casey
You’re kidding right? When the kids aren’t being seen they’re being hidden. When you do see them in parent approved situations they’re being used for PR? This is exhausting.

  5. minx says:

Cute kids. They are going to be tall, which, uh, makes sense 😂

  6. Rae says:

It definitely makes sense for them to go all together. It’s quite the hike from KP to get to Battersea in morning traffic; they would end up spending hours in traffic if they had to keep zipping back and forth to different schools across London.

  7. Citresse says:

    That’s lovely!!! Time flies.

  8. Charfromdarock says:

All I can see is a mini-QEII! So cute!

  9. Casey20 says:

All I see are Carole and Mike’s MinnieMe’s!!!

Cute, sweet looking little children. Charlotte is the image of her grandmother the Queen and George is the image of his grandfather Mr. Middleton. Have to wait and see who Louis ends up looking like.
