If anyone here follows the Royal Ontario Museum on IG – its been hilarious with the victory. I love it.

The Warrior Dust! ha ha ha ha

Not a basketball fan but as a Canadian it was fun to see this happen, especially with all of Jimmy Kimmel’s badmouthing (ahem “it’s like watching the Avengers, you know who’s going to win but you have to watch the movie anyway” ahem ahem)

      • Lady D says:

A Canadian set up a fund for us to donate to K. Durant’s charity to make up for the actions of some over his ankle injury news. We have donated almost $30 grand to his charity so far in way of apology. He was also sent flowers by another Northerner.

  3. Sayrah says:

Down goes golden state. Congrats raptors

  4. snazzy says:

There’s this amazing video of the Blues and this 14 year old super fan who is very ill who they invited to game 7 in Boston and even onto the ice and let her hold the cup. It was very moving.

    • Northern_Girl20 says:

Oh that was so sweet, I cried and so did my hubby.

    • Usedtobe says:

That was beautiful! The Blues win was also extremely bittersweet.

    • Lady D says:

I had the greatest two days in sports. First the St. Louis Blues took out the hated Boston Bruins, then the Raptors took the championship!! I laughed for hours after St. Louis won. They were in last place in the NHL in January and Cup champions in June. I love an underdog story, and did I mention I hated Boston? A truly great couple of sporting events, and let’s not forget FIFA.

      • kerwood says:

Seeing the immortal Bill Russell at the MVP presentation last night reminded me of why I hated Boston so much. What that city did to him and other Black athletes back in the day has made me an ‘anybody but Boston’ sports fan.

I didn’t even know that St. Louis had a hockey team and I have no real love for that city but, since they were playing Boston, I was a St. Louis fan.

It’s a good day in Canada! The Raptors won and the Conservatives are down in the polls. We the North!!!!!!

    • Grace2 says:

I take it you’re supporting JT for another term?

      • LindaS says:

JT needs a couple people left supporting him. But no one that I know.

      • Erinn says:

I sure as hell am because I refuse to vote for someone who’s party wants to strip away women’s rights under the guise of religion.

        ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      • Snazzy says:

I most certainly am because the religious fanaticism and blinding hatred of the alternative is unacceptable

      • Mego says:

JT has my vote. Wouldn’t consider the cons for the reasons cited.

      • Scotchy says:

I most certainly am not voting for JT. That guy and his party is a snake pit.
Perhaps before jumping on the JT wagon ya’ll might wanna check out the NDP. It’s a better party with a leader that for once isn’t a white dude. Also might be nice to have a party that actually follows through on their promises and isn’t systematically trying to cause a massive environmental disaster in the West. But yes YAY TORONTO.
That’s all this beige Canadian has got. Please please my Eastside fellows do your research and really vet all of your candidates in the upcoming election.

      • Mia4s says:

Of course I’m voting JT for another term. The NDP don’t have the base to win and the alternative is the Conservative party led by that Trump-wannabe Scheer. I’m a practical woman.

      • Tina says:

Is there a website like there was last time (I think)? I can see supporting the NDP if they have a fighting chance of taking the seat from the Liberals, but if it’s a Liberal-Conservative battle, a vote for the NDP would seem like a wasted one to me. (And yes, FPTP is horrid, I know). I am interested also because we will have to be thinking like this in the next UK general election as well.

      • kerwood says:

@Grace@, That’s a big assumption but, if you’re Canadian, you know that there are more than two parties in Canada, unlike our former friends the USofA. I don’t have a beef with Mr. Trudeau and wouldn’t leave the country if he were re-elected. But my family has been NDP for decades.

      • mazzie says:

Hell yes. I’m not voting for racist trash who wants to strip women of choice.

    • Americano says:

I’m voting Liberal because I refuse to vote Cons and voting NDP will only help them.

As a native St Louisian, the Blues win really did just bring me joy. That team was the true underdogs throughout the entire run. Sports writers and commentators have to contort them selves to get that egg off their face with the Bruins losing. They were talking before hand about veterans (which the Blues also have) and experiences ( again, the Blues have it, not past the third round, but they have it) was gonna win in all and they were gonna go down in flames in 5 games. But yet, they did not want to speak about the Bruins holding the NHL record for the most losses in the SC finals. So, yes, they have lost a hell of a lot more than they have won, but sure, just etched their names on the Cup and expect the Blues, who had one of the best if not the best road record in 2019, were just gonna roll over.

And the Raptors were just great. I know that the Warriors had a ton of injuries, but that reason truly in a insult to how well the Raptors played. This was no fluke and congrats to them.

    • Monicack says:

It’s not an insult. Both can be true. Both teams were absolutely amazing. Virtually zero analysts believe the Raptors could have defeated a full Golden State bench. Doesn’t matter though. The Raptors triumphed all season and they defeated Goliath in the end. I’m happy to see how much joy this has brought to the team, the city and the country.

    • waitwhat says:

Pens fan here, couldn’t be happier for you and the rest of the Blues fans! Long time coming and well-deserved. Great series.

      • Tiffany says:

I have had people say to me, ‘Congrats, anyone but the Bruins’.

I understand the importance of sports loyalty so I take those as well. 😉

  7. Jadedone says:

    Congrats Raptors, WE THE NORTH

  8. Jb says:

Awww I like them together. I hope no drama was involved because Rachel Lee Cook will always be Lainey to me!! Sad

    • Tiffany says:

Me as well. But looking at both of their resumes, they were never in the same city at the same time on projects. Daniel at one time was doing two shows at the same time and both filmed in Canada.

  9. hogtowngooner says:

Toronto was partying hard last night. Yonge Street (the main North-South drag of the city) was full of people from Front St to Steeles Ave (25 km/15 miles). Some damage to cars but zero arrests!

    • Sleanne says:

My husband was working Raptors night in downtown Toronto at the start of night delivery shift (usually the best way to deliver in TO). His big AZ truck and trailer was surrounded by a mob of “fans”, they climbed all over it, spray painted it, smashed the siding, jumped on the hood. Threats were made. He was scared for his safety. He called 911, videoed what he could (they’re bad!), and left until it was safe to come back. Those weren’t true fans – it was hooligans looking for a reason. He spent the remainder of the night filling in paperwork and documenting what he could. He said he now hopes a Toronto team never wins anything again.

  10. Skwinkee says:

    Yeah baby!!!!!!! Bring it North!

Oh man hard to get up this morning but it was all worth it!

  11. Lightpurple says:

    Congratulations, Toronto

  12. anp says:

    Congratulation’s to the Raptors!

As a Cavs fan the only thing better was three years ago watching our guys do the same!BUT now it’s your turn so happy for you all!🥂

    • Andy says:

      Aww, that’s nice! Thank you!

      • Spicecake38 says:

You are welcome! And please do it again and again because I’m so sick of the warriors $$$$$,beating people with more talent and hard work.Sometimes the little people do win and I will celebrate the hard working guys every single time!

  14. styla says:

It’s “We The North” not “The North Remembers.”

    Rather disrespectful.

  18. Faithmobile says:

As a Warriors fan, I’m happy for the Raptors, this what makes sports interesting.

  19. Canadian says:

Way to go Raps!!! Incredible game. 🇨🇦

I vote NDP provincially and Liberal federally as I don’t want the Cons to win. JT has made some mistakes, but the alternative is horrifying to my multiracial queer family.

  20. Jessica says:

Yessssss love that the raptors are represented here!! Still can’t believe we are NBA champions! The parade tomorrow will be amazing!!
