Donald Trump tweeted insults far & wide as he visited El Paso & Dayton

Yesterday, Donald and Melania Trump traveled to El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio. They tried to meet with whoever would meet with them. Certain politicians refused to meet with Trump, and interesting enough, some of the victims of the dual shootings refused to meet with Trump. During the Trumps’ stop in Dayton, Sen. Sherrod Brown and Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley gave a press conference where they blasted Trump for being a divisive white supremacist, but also gave him credit for saying the “right things” to the Ohioans who would meet with him.

On a day when President Trump vowed to tone down his rhetoric and help the country heal following two mass slayings, he did the opposite — lacing his visits Wednesday to El Paso and Dayton, Ohio, with a flurry of attacks on local leaders and memorializing his trips with grinning thumbs-up photos. A traditional role for presidents has been to offer comfort and solace to all Americans at times of national tragedy, but the day provided a fresh testament to Trump’s limitations in striking notes of unity and empathy.

When Trump swooped into the grieving border city of El Paso to offer condolences following the massacre of Latinos allegedly by a white supremacist, some of the city’s elected leaders and thousands of its citizens declared the president unwelcome. In his only public remarks during the trip, Trump lashed out at Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio and Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley, both Democrats, over their characterization of his visit with hospital patients in Dayton.

None of the eight patients still being treated at University Medical Center in El Paso agreed to meet with Trump when he visited the hospital, UMC spokesman Ryan Mielke said. Two victims who already had been discharged returned to the hospital with family members to meet with the president.

[From WaPo]

During the day, Trump went off on Sherrod Brown, Shep Smith of Fox News, and Joe Biden, because sure. Trump can’t help himself. He’s always the biggest victim, the most aggrieved, and seriously, what is wrong with him? He was tweeting out insults for hours:

Sherrod Brown never ran for president, and Brown gave Trump nominal credit, as I said. Trump tweeted this too:

Oh good, he’s making a Hit List of people who have properly identified him as a racist, so he can then give that list to the violent white supremacists he’s radicalized and they can carry out the Hit List. This is happening in plain sight, people.

Of course he did, he was always going to make the visits about how HE is the real victim and use it to campaign. They banned press from the Dayton hospital visit then turned it into a campaign PR stunt. He told press that he had an ‘amazing’ trip and that everyone he met loved him (and again ranting about his rally crowd sizes – we get it, you have a very small pen!s). Sounds like he thought he crashed a wedding a Mar-a-Lago.

Its scary and only a matter of time before one of his cultists kills or attempts to assassinate one of his Dem opponents. Beto, AOC, Pelosi, Harris et al need to be careful. It WILL escalate to that.

PS. I am crushing on Beto. I wonder if he has any British ancestors!?! I’d vote for him as PM.

    • boredblond says:

Moscow Mitch is making it easy for his brain dead followers: he has set out ‘tombstones’ with names of his opponents so they’ll know who to target.

      • Jerusha says:

Come on, Kentucky, you can do it. Oust his wrinkled ass.
        https://twitter.com/bill_maxwell_/status/1159188954798649345?s=21

      • Erinn says:

That made my blood boil. If they had left it at “Socialism” or whatever the one stone said, tacky, but whatever. But to go as far as putting the names of opponents on the others, and keeping that plan in motion right after shootings is just beyond.

      • Lightpurple says:

At the event featuring the fake gravestones, Moscow Mitch McTraitor’s campaign staffers, young white males, also posed with a cardboard cut out of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and took pictures of themselves strangling it and groping its crotch and breasts, they then tweeted the images on the official campaign account. The response to the resulting outrage was: “they did nothing wrong” and “boys will be boys.”

      • holly hobby says:

And with the tombstones they just threatened a federal judge so that’s a federal offense.

    • B n A fan says:

Beto gave a good speech yesterday, I believe he’s going to go up in the polls, he shows no fear. Don’t know why Dems are using republicans talking points telling him to run for senate. Beto is 11 points ahead of the conman in Texas, meaning Beto in a threat to 45. Joe Biden gave an excellent speech yesterday which took Don the Con to tast, so naturally he tweeted insults his way. Booker also gave a excellent speech yesterday in South Carolina, excellent speech. Dems are stepping up to the plate, not backing away from the bully.

      • Darla says:

All true, but I can’t help but be bothered by the fact that unfortunately I don’t have amnesia and Hillary already gave these speeches prior to the election. She gave that alt-right speech, remember? Warning everyone. The media slaughtered her for it!! It makes me so mad.

      • B n A fan says:

You are so right, everything Hillary said in those debates were true, She said Don was Putin’s puppet, he did not paid his taxes, ect. I’m still upset what they did put Hillary through. I listen to joe and Mika in the morning they gave the Con man so much free air time, they trashed Hillary, Now they are going so hard against Don the Con now. I guess they feeling guilty they helped unleashed this beast on us. IMO, they are one of the hundred reasons why 45 won. He won with the lies, help from Russia/Putin, Comey, Fox News, ect.

This is a new election and those who want to see the truth have no excuse, if he’s reflected this country is racist, no doubt about it. I don’t want to hear about the economy is better, I have not seen one penny, as a matter of fact I had to pat $2,000 more this year, so that’s bull crap. End of ranting.

      • Darla says:

Yes totally agree. Unless you have stocks you haven’t seen anything anyway. Personally, my own business is getting hurt because of the tariffs (but not badly yet), but there’s something inside of me…if it gets worse and I lose it all but it rids the world of trump, well you know, I’ve got a Plan B. I won’t be homeless. I’ll survive. I’ll take it. Because I can’t live like this anymore.

      • Anna says:

Proud to see Dems not backing down. Go Beto go!

    • Emily says:

With the amount of bragging he does, his penis must be microscopic.

  2. grabbyhands says:

Literally ALL he had to do was visit, say something like “The country is here for you” and leave. And that’s IT. And he couldn’t even f*cking do that.

What sane person spends his entire time that was supposed to be dedicated to comforting victims of a f*cking MASSACRE to instead rolling out non-stop insults???? WHY do people continue to support this monster?????

    • Giddy says:

Someone on MSNBC said that yesterday Dump took a day of grief, and tried to change it to a day of personal grievance. He couldn’t let there be one day, or a few hours, when he wasn’t the focus of events.

  3. grabbyhands says:

    • B n A fan says:

I know he was there for a photo op, what the hell was going on at that hospital. I heard Don the Con telling one of the first responders he could be a movie star. What the hell!!! How inappropriate for the occasion.

      • Giddy says:

Yes, as usual he’s thinking in television terms. I wonder if he followed that up with his usual idiocy “he could be right out of central casting”. Trump can’t rise to the moment. He may be the President, but in no way is he Presidential.

    • holly hobby says:

I want to know why the Dayton hospital staff was fawning over him and getting giddy. Shame on them. There is nothing to smile about. A$$$es

  4. Jerusha says:

donald trump tweeted insults. Water is wet. The sun rose in the east. Just another day.

  5. aquarius64 says:

US CBers: if you don’t want this to continue, VOTE in 2020.

    • Kitten says:

Man, do I wish it were this simple.
Man do I wish that Pelosi wasn’t just blowing smoke up our asses when she says “we will defeat him at the ballot box”.

It’s almost like she didn’t believe it when Christopher Wray, Dan Coates, Robert Mueller and other members of the IC told us that Russians WILL interfere in the 2020 election.

It’s almost like she doesn’t really understand how the electoral college works and that there IS a potential nightmare scenario where Trump could lose the popular vote by 5M votes and STILL win the election.

But you know, “impeachment is too divisive”, “it won’t pass the Senate”, 3D chess and all that bullsh*t.

And if he wins in 2020 without the Dems having started an impeachment inquiry, he will be virtually unstoppable at that point. THAT is our current hellscape.

      • Betsy says:

They’ve begun impeachment hearings (or will after the break), so I don’t care if Pelosi was slow walking it – aslong as it happens.

      • Jessica says:

Don’t discount Nancy. She is a wiley one. She knows what she is doing. I worked on the Hill for five years.

  6. Jerusha says:

These hospital staffers should be ashamed of themselves.

    • cannibell says:

Oh, that’s just creepy. Anything this guy does that doesn’t directly line his pockets or increase his power is a charade. I don’t even waste my time taking it seriously anymore – which is a very different thing than taking what’s happening in the country as a result of his presidency seriously. @Aquarius64 is spot-on – US CBers need to turn out in droves in 2020, and drag every voter they know along with them.

On a separate note, I was home sick yesterday and soothed myself by watching RGB. Highly recommend for anyone who hasn’t seen it.

The nurse to his right with her thumb up, the one in the far back craning her neck to make sure she’s in the shot-ugh!
And I loved RBG. I liked On the Basis of Sex, also. Can’t have too much of Ruth.

    • Tate says:

As someone who had both my father and my daughter in ICU I was appalled at this picture. This is so inappropriate and unprofessional.

    • Giddy says:

On the plus side, I heard this morning that not a single patient still in the hospital in El Paso wanted Dump to come to their room. Two patients who had already been released came back to meet him.

  7. Marjorie says:

He is not writing his tweets. He can’t write/spell “bore no resemblance.” KellyAnne Conway and/or Stephen Miller are typing his shit.

  8. Myra says:

Americans died and some in hospital and Trump wanted to be treated like a “Rockstar”

  9. Lightpurple says:

    Nan Whalely for president

    • Nona says:

      Second that.
And if there’s any doubt in anyone’s mind that Trump isn’t egging on the hate-filled racists, read this: https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/08/us/national-anthem-boy-assault-montana/index.html

    • Esmom says:

I know, right? She’s been amazing.

      • Lightpurple says:

        She has.

These shootings are hitting far too close to home for me. I have been to the Gilroy Garlic Festival and a friend who lives in the area goes every year. She left the festival half an hour before the shooting started because the weather was too hot for her. With Dayton, I initially thought: ‘well, I don’t know anyone in Ohio right now.” but then a high school classmate, the brother of a close friend, posted pictures of himself at Ned Peppers in the Oregon District. He was here in Boston visiting his sister and was on his way back home to the midwest. He and his wife had decided to stop for the weekend in Dayton and went to the Oregon district. They are physically safe but will never recover from what they saw that night. He said that Nan Whalely, her staff, and the Dayton police and fire and EMTs were absolutely incredible. That woman is handling incredible stuff with incredible grace and professionalism

  10. Jo says:

How can the press be misrepresenting him, when the press wasn’t even allowed to film him making the visits in Daytona and El Paso. the only footage available is that which the government took. That same footage is already being used for campaign ads. Propaganda straight out of the dictator’s rulebook.

  11. MachineElf says:

Do you think followers of Trump would feel comfortable having their children emulate him? Do they show their children videos of Trump, read them his twitter messages, and say “If you act like this, perhaps someday you will be President too?” I assume not. No one wants to actually be around someone who behaves this way, right? I have a feeling when this whole thing ends the office of the presidency will be much diminished if not entirely eliminated.

    • Esmom says:

This is a really good way to frame it. Unfortunately I feel like the biggest supporters of Trump have no interest in instilling manners, decency, empathy, compassion and intellectual curiosity in their kids. But the closet supporters know how awful he is, which is why they keep their support mostly hidden. He truly makes me sick.

      • Pinetree13 says:

When you’re trying to shove religion down kids’ throats the last thing you want is “intellectual curiosity” . Religions very tenets are, don’t question it, don’t analyze it, keep your head down and obey. religion is the downfall of mankind.

    • Jerusha says:

Look at his Nazi rallies. They’re fine with his behavior, fine with taking their children to the rallies.

    • MachineElf says:

Before Trump I naively thought that certain conservative individuals in my life were just a little kooky but it ultimately it was just a “difference of opinion” and they still had good hearts. These same people are now full on Trump supporters who are openly racist and misogynist. I am just horrified at what has been revealed about people all around us in this country. Maybe it’s better to have the masks removed. It just breaks my heart at how low the lowest common denominator truly is.

      • Christin says:

This sums up how I feel.

I have always been a “live and let live” type, but being around people who still support this behavior is both incredibly disappointing and very enlightening. It tells me what I need to know.

  12. Swack says:

He can’t even handle it when he is complimented. It’s like he needs the negative and really doesn’t want the positive in his life.

  13. Kitten says:

First of all, Sherrod Brown has more integrity in the tip of his pinky finger than Trump has in his entire bloated, orange body.

Brown met with him because the mayor asked him to be there. He decided to show up because he wanted to tell Trump that if he’s worried about mental illness, he should expand Medicare, push for single payer and coverage for existing conditions and reinstate the Obama-era law that requires gun checks for people with mental illness.
Of course, Sherrod has now learned that it never pays to meet with Trump. Unless you kiss the ring, he will lash out at you. Although, Sherrod is a pretty smart dude and likely anticipated that Trump would see his interviews on cable news and would publicly attack him.

It’s almost impressive how perfectly Trump embodies every single awful aspect of humanity. He’s just such a terrible person and will be remembered as the dick-lick that he is.

    • Darla says:

I know right? I was watching the news with my friend last night and they were reporting on this. Trump says Sherrod Brown lied about what happened inside the hospital! And we were like, gee, donald trump and sherrod brown, I wonder who is telling the truth? We cracked up. Is there any question in anyone’s mind anymore? Trump is ALWAYS lying.

      • Kitten says:

If Trump’s mouth is open, he’s lying.

He attacks Sherrod f*cking Brown right after he was in Ohio, meeting with him regarding a mass shooting that happened in his district. How f*cking LOW can you get?
There is literally no other American politician who could get away with doing that.

Trump is incapable of empathy or grace. He’s just a very sad, pathetic and narcissistic individual.

    • Christin says:

Brown tweeted yesterday that he’d given the meeting a lot of thought and decided to do it for the reasons you mention. No doubt he thought common sense and humanity would be present following such a terrible tragedy.

Unfortunately, you cannot reason with an unreasonable person, not shame the shameless, or provide heart to the heartless. Brown and the mayor were going to get the faraway tweeted wrath no matter what, as they are both Dems and did not incessantly brag on *him* in the days before the visit.

      • Kitten says:

He was on “All In” before the meeting, explaining his reasoning and I fully understood why he had made that decision. I know it wasn’t easy for him. I bet he hoped for decency but prepared himself for the usual assholery.

Rep Escobar was on before Brown and she said that she was asked to greet Trump upon his arrival in El Paso. She said she would only do that on the condition that he would call her beforehand so she could have a private discussion with him. She hoped to ask him if he is prepared to take responsibility for fomenting racism and hatred.

She was told by his staff that he didn’t have time for a phone call.

Sherrod said that he 100% respected Escobar’s decision and that she is proving herself to be a leader on the issue of racism but said that his situation is a bit different in that there’s no indication that teh Dayton shooter was motivated by racism. Anyway, Rep Escobar, Sen Sherrod and Mayor Whalely all made the right decision. It’s Trump who showed himsefl to be the cowardly, vindictive, self-obsessed loser that he always has been.

  14. B n A fan says:

Washington Post just reported that NONE of the people being treated in El Paso agreed to meet with Don the Con yesterday. I guess he just barged in their room and took their photos.

    • Darla says:

He’s lucky he has SS, Beto might have found him and beat his ass. It amuses me to think of trump, no screaming crowds, no SS, being confronted by an actual man.

    • Christin says:

I read that two people already released came back to the hospital to meet him. Imagine returning to be a prop, while the eight still hospitalized wisely wanted no part of it.

      • Kitten says:

Wow. How could you want ANYTHING to do with that monster?

      • Christin says:

Imagine being spared your life and a longer hospitalization, and you choose to go back to the hospital a day or two for…that?

I would go back to support and visit other hospitalized patients and their families, but not a self-serving PR circus.

      • Kitten says:

        Seriously SMDH. Disgusting.

  15. Abby says:

Y’all, I read the transcripts of his speeches in El Paso and Dayton and I have no words. https://twitter.com/ddale8/status/1159320343078735872?s=21

Not one word about the victims. Such complete lack of empathy or tact. Zero effort. Completely about his image.

    • Giddy says:

To ask Trump to be empathetic is the same as asking him to speak a foreign language or jump rope: it can’t be done. There is an emptiness in him that he has filled with bluster and lies. In every way he is a fraud.

  16. gingersnaps says:

I don’t understand why some people are still in denial that all these mass shootings have something to do with racism/white supremacy. They’d rather think it was mental illness than accept it for what it is.

  17. Christin says:

After visiting two grieving cities, there was still time to tweet-insult a guest on B. Williams’ 11 PM cable show.

I wish I had been more awake to hear what Tim O’Brien (one of two guests talking to Brian) said that prompted two rage tweets.

You know you’ve done well when Orange gives you a “world class loser”/fired like a dog(?) tweet mention.

  18. Rapunzel says:

Meanwhile, he’s apparently drafting an executive order to go after “liberal cesspools” on the internet which he’s blaming for the shootings. This is scary, folks. We’re headed towards some major censorship if he gets his way.

    • holly hobby says:

Go ahead and he’ll be slapped back by the courts for violating the first amendment. He issues exec orders like eating candy. Fat bastard it isn’t all empowering.

I also heard he wants to commute that criminal Gov Rod B’s sentence. Because Jared told him to and it would give him points from the Dems?!?! I don’t know what Dickless Ken is smoking but no, seriously.

  19. Aimee says:

So we get propaganda pics from the hospital in Dayton (way to shamelessly gush over the President, hospital workers!) but nothing from El Paso? Gee, I wonder why.

    • Christin says:

Oh, there is a video someone has shared. And it’s all you would expect. Words, bragging…the usual, regardless of the time, place or situation.

      • Aimee says:

Yes, I finally did see some pics from an emergency operation center but nothing from a hospital.

  20. Emily says:

Confidence is quiet. Trump is potentially the most insecure person on the planet judging by his Twitter account. Why can’t he do one nice thing for the sake of kindness and decency without demanding (begging) for praise.

  21. Valerie says:

    La-la-la-LOSER. I despise him.
