Here are some photos from the opening night event of Betrayal on Broadway. Betrayal has been in previews for weeks already, but now it has officially opened. I always forget that Tom Hiddleston knows how to wear a f–king suit. He really does though. I think his secret is that he actually takes the time to get his suits properly tailored, which means that he’s not picking out stuff at the last minute, or expecting designers to just send him stuff which is vaguely “his size.” I guess he needs special tailoring too – I imagine his inseam is crazy, because he’s got really long legs. But yeah, he looks like a male model in this Ralph Lauren suit.
His costars Charlie Cox and Zawe Ashton were at the opening night event, of course. Zawe wore an Erdem dress. I’ve been sitting here, trying to figure out how I feel about this dress? I still don’t know. I generally don’t like anything in the chartreuse family, but the graphic is sort of interesting. The design isn’t great though, and the red bow is stupid, as are the ruffles. I guess that answers that – I dislike this dress. That being said, it’s event-appropriate and she’s a pretty woman. I also feel pretty sure that she and Tom are dating, and I can’t believe it’s not a bigger conversation! Remember when he was spending time with Elizabeth Olsen? That was, like, a DEFCON 1 Hiddlemergency. But it’s just *crickets* for Zawe and Tom?
As for the American reviews of this production – everyone seems to love it.

The hair is so tragic. He should really invest in a shorter haircut. It makes the receding hairline less obvious. Or just go get a transplant.

Dude has a big forhead. He just a accept s it and is confident. Some dudes get fake tan, hear transplant and Botox. For me it is pathetic.
Jude Law eventually owned the receding hairline instead of pretending it wasn’t happening, and looked much better for it.

I disagree. He’s making a point of leaning away from her and it looks odd. Which makes me think they ARE dating.

My husband Tom really does know how to rock the Hell out of a suit. It’s a skill. The beard and probably the long hair will be gone in January.
Zawe has interesting taste in clothes. I think she goes for comfort first. Shiny second. I also think she is in a long-term relationship.

Tom was made to model suits, IRL, not in those awful Gucci ads. Even when he’s wearing his combat fatigues consisting of Aquatalia boots, the usual jeans and blue jumper, his security blankie aka the Osprey backpack and the Ray Bans.
What made me pause momentarily: Ben Brantley in the NYT called Tom “as slender and sharp as a paring knife” in his review. Cooking prep will never be the same for me again!
And I really hope you will have a great time – even if, it seems, the Broadway audience is not quite as well-behaved as the people in the West End, phones ringing and all!
There’s a great bit in her book (which is excellent) where she talks about choosing red carpet outfits.

I have to say I don’t understand the whole ‘he has been ruined for me because of Taylor Swift’ thing. Dude made a bit of a fool of himself but nothing that can’t be left behind now. I mean we had fun with swan pastry and beach shenanigans. All so innocent seeming in these dark times.
I also feel a bit bad for him because as much as people who, for example, read a gossip blog knew him, he wasn’t real A-list famous. Like, he wasn’t Tom Cruise. People wouldn’t recognise him wandering down a street anywhere in the world. I don’t think he really understood what he was getting into.
I’m meh on Hiddleston in general, but I have to say, that suit is perfection. And, he looks great in that suit.

I would really love to hear kaiser’s reasons for Tom and Zawe dating. Cuz on tumblr there is a bit of drama about this. But there seems to be a general sense of ‘Naa, we dont think they are dating.’ Even amongst shippers.

After the whole Twiddleswift thing that I saw how much he regretted being public about his relationships there are a lot of fans, me included, that have agreed to not talk about his relationships. So if he’s dating Zawe then good for them! For me that’s not important, but LOOK AT HOW HE LOOKS IN THAT SUIT! DAAAAAAAMN!!

He’s a fantastic actor and yes, he looks absolutely gorgeous in a suit. That said, I totally agree with you that the man should be left alone to live his own life and date whoever he fancies. The Taylor Swift fiasco must have knocked the poor guy sideways but he has since moved on. All his fans should really wish him all the best in his career as an actor and let him find peace and tranquillity in his private life.
Zawe and her boyfriend live near me in London. They’ve been living together for at least a year or two.
I never could like his beard when it was longer, but always love him in a close beard, and his long hair has totally grown on me. I’ll miss it when it’s gone. This Tom, in this navy RL, is absolute perfection to me.
