Brad Pitt posed awkwardly with Timothee Chalamet at ‘The King’ screening

Brad Pitt went to a special screening of The King last night in LA and my first thought was “OMG, Brad is trying to hang out with the cool kids, Timothee Chalamet and Lily-Rose Depp!” But… I did not realize that Brad is actually a producer on The King. He worked with director David Michod on War Machine (which Brad also produced) and so now Brad’s responsible for Timothee’s bowl cut and Robert Pattinson’s pretty princess weave and bonkers French accent. Makes sense!

Anyway, Brad turning up for a lowkey screening of a Netflix film he produced is pretty on-brand for him. He’s done it before and he’ll do it again. What’s interesting is that he’s doing it this fall, when… he’s trying to have a lowkey Oscar campaign. He said during the promotion of Ad Astra that he’s not interested in campaigning for an Oscar. But come on, he totally will. He’s already started! This is how it is – Brad will attend lowkey screenings, maybe give some lowkey interviews to trade papers and CAA will do the rest.

Meanwhile, did you know that Brad Pitt got paid $6 million to star in a commercial for the French bank Boursorama? I’m including the commercial below. Tons of American celebrities get hired to do these kinds of ads overseas, but what’s surprising about this is that the message is totally wrong: Boursorama is being sued by American-born French people who say that Boursorama won’t allow them to open up accounts or do any banking there. The French bank says the cost would be too high to deal with anyone with dual citizenship (specifically American-French citizenship). So… the bank spent $6 million to hire Brad??!

Sarah, the end screens say “we don’t need Brad Pitt to recommend our bank, our clients do it best”. It’s supposed to be clever, I guess…

So has he seen his kids at all? Doubt it.
