Timothee Chalamet walked the red carpet at the Oscars like a boss – he was there to present, but also to represent Best Picture nominee Little Women. He… chose to wear this shiny nylon Prada ensemble for some reason. Yeah, I love him and everything and I like that he keeps it hipster and offbeat, but this is just… kind of disrespectful? I mean, there are other options besides “tuxedo” and “shiny mechanic’s uniform.” That being said, his cheekbones are everything and I’ve already seen some photos of him at the after-parties where he was basically sitting with an all-lady crew, because ladies love the Chalamet.
Tom & Lorenzo pointed out that Olivia Colman’s Stella McCartney gown sort of looks like Baby Yoda and now I can’t unsee it. See the eyes and the ears? It’s ridiculous and funny. That’s how I feel about Olivia in general – she can’t dress for sh-t, but she’s so funny and charming, I’ll forgive her weird fashion moments. Plus, if the worst thing we can say about her is that she wore a dress that reminded everyone of Baby Yoda, that’s money in the bank. Oscars = ABC = Disney = Baby Yoda. I’m convinced that she’s going to be part of a Star Wars movie or show now.
Here’s Julia Butters, the 10-year-old actress who got to do several scenes with Leonardo DiCaprio in OUATIH. She’s adorable and apparently she went to Christian Siriano and brought him the sketches SHE worked on for her Oscar dress, and he put together this custom look. It’s exactly the dress a 10-year-old would design for herself!! Also: she brought a turkey sandwich in her purse.

I read some twitter post saying that Timothy Chalamet looks like a pointy Italian shoe that was turned into a real boy by a witch’s curse and that’s all I can think of looking at these photos.

I think it depends on your perspective on film and the Oscars. My time period of choice is the old stars of the 1940s, 1950s. I want people to dress like that. I prefer stars like Octavia Spencer. My word! She can dress! Dev Patel, too!

It’s a black tie evening event and he’s wearing a track suit. It’s neat, but just as wearing a day wool suit would look out of place, so does his outfit.
His outfit is the same as if you showed up to a formal wedding in sweatpants; it’s not appropriate for the dress code of the event.

There really aren’t many options for men at award shows. Women have all these different looks and styles and men get to wear a bunch of similar looking suits, so good for Timothee. I enjoyed seeing something different.

I am one of the ladies who loves the Chalamet and I’m always curious to see what twist he brings to his clothing choice. And if you want to talk disrespectful I think it was disrespectful when the Academy awarded Gary Oldman’s make-up Best Actor in 2018 instead of Timothee’s beautiful performance in Call Me By Your Name. His final credits scene was better than anything in The Darkest Hour. Was the Academy making up for not giving Oldman the Oscar he deserved for tinker Tailor Soldier Spy?
Hey, his suit has tuxedo stripes up the sides, soooo there’s that. Plus, back when the tuxedo was invented, it caused a huge scandal because it didn’t have tails.
I love that the little girl designed her own dress, but she brought it to a designer to make. It doesn’t look like it was sewn well or fitted well. Surely, the designer could have made it better.

Another lady here who loves Timmy! He’s gorgeous (the bone structure!!) and I seriously love his taste in fashion. Apparently he doesn’t use a stylist which if you look at his press/red carpet looks (which I think are amazing), makes him even cooler. Oh and Julia is so good in OUATIH. Timothee is so beautiful to look at and if I were 10 years younger I’d probably have a huge crush. He’s French-American like me so we have that in common (I do speak French better than he does though, I’ve listened to his French interviews to compare and he’s very good but often struggles in ways I don’t, I can’t explain it). I was hoping to see Lily-Rose Depp with him because the last time I heard they were dating. But yeah his outfit is pretty dumb, he reminds me of a race car driver.
Olivia Colman’s outfit isn’t too bad actually and she had one of the funniest moments of the night when she alluded to all the “fun” she had last year with her husband. Her personality is so fun.
Julia looks so cute though at 10, I’m not sure I would have designed a dress like this for myself lol. Even at that age I wanted to disappear when people stared at me so I probably would have a black/navy blue boring dress on. It’ll be fun to see her fashion evolve.
