Happy Sussex Independence Day to all of the petty, racist & salty haters out there

SWITZERLAND-DAVOS-WEF-U.S.-BIDEN

Happy Sussex Independence Day. April 1st, 2020, the start of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new life, unbound by nitpicking courtiers and racist royal reporters. They are in California now and the British press are still up in their feelings about all of this. To celebrate Sussex Independence Day, I’m choosing to highlight the Daily Mail publication of a hysterical screed by Sarah Vine, wherein she suggests that Harry and Meghan are lazy, irrelevant, sad and… much needed in Britain. Because reasons!

Ordinary people are having to endure the unimaginable; yet this is a couple who barely gave their relationship with the British public 18 months before chucking in the towel. No wonder, as the royal biographer Penny Junor put it, they now seem ‘pretty irrelevant’. For months, other members of the Royal Family, not to mention friends, advisers and those of us in the Press reckless enough to incur the wrath of the pro-Meghan trolls, have been urging them to get some perspective. Now events have done that for them and their decision to abandon Britain in favour of life in LA has been exposed for what it is: ill-judged, premature — and, in many ways, rather sad.

…Luckily, Prince Charles has said he will fund Harry in the short term. But the Duke will have to get a job, as will Meghan. I don’t imagine she will have any trouble. But Harry? Even assuming he can get a Green Card to live in the States permanently, he has never known anything apart from the Army and royal patronage.

Now he is thousands of miles from home, surrounded by people not renowned for their sincerity or kindness — while his own people, the British public, face the greatest challenge of a generation and are crying out for that chutzpah and cheek we used to love.

Harry may be many things, but he is not a shirker. His unique capacity for empathy, inherited from his late mother, would have proven invaluable in boosting the morale of frontline staff. Instead he is reduced to spouting Americanised platitudes on the pair’s Instagram feed and communicating via emoji. I can only imagine the shame he must (surely) feel as he watches his brother consider returning to work as an air-ambulance pilot to help the NHS, while he’s loafing about on the other side of the Pond. One day, when he’s all grown up, Archie may ask Harry: ‘What did you do in the war against Covid-19, Daddy?’ The answer, dearest Harry, is up to you.

[From The Daily Mail]

This is the most “HOES MAD” take, and you can just feel the petty jingoism pulsating through the column. The British press which spent two years (much longer, actually) smearing and abusing Meghan and Harry now wants us to believe that they alone truly understand Harry and how sad and pathetic he will be in California. And what’s with the shade towards LA, “surrounded by people not renowned for their sincerity or kindness”? As opposed to ENGLAND? Jesus Christ, these people! Anyway, I hope Meghan and Harry enjoy their well-earned independence. I hope they write books and give interviews and do amazing charity work and develop documentaries and make lots of money. That will really make these hoes mad.

    Happy freedom, Harry and Meghan!

Stay petty, Liz! Stay jealous, Billy! Stay irrelevant, Cathy!

    • sunny says:

Lol to every bit of this amazing comment.

    • VS says:

I am a Meghan supporter and I have to admit that today is a such a happy day! I am just so relieved for her! She was surrounded by mediocrity and her doing such a good job could only threaten the mediocre people around her.

I don’t have Disney+ but I will sign in as a way to continue my support of someone who got such an unfair treatment because she dared to be in a place where she wasn’t expected to be!

Go Meghan (and by extension Harry as well)

    • Olenna says:

      Hear, hear!

    • Elizabeth says:

Went to BG to see their annual freakin’ insane April Fool’s post about the royals, and this one is particularly egregious. The blind is that Harry is infertile and they’ve used sperm from Andrew to conceive Archie and the baby they’re expecting right now. And people are practically panting over the nonsense lapping it all up.

      • February Pisces says:

Last year’s April fools was that William was the father of Archie (written before he was born) and they were going to make an announcement. Lol, feel sorry for the people who believe it.

      • PixiePaperdoll says:

I about wet myself reading that and then realized it was listed as solved even though nothing has actually come out. Then I remembered the day.

      • Elizabeth says:

It’s the 2nd and they haven’t updated it yet with the April Fool’s notice. I hope they get sued.

    • Missskitttin says:

If they are so irrelevant why are they constantly writing about them and their assumptions (as they don’t know anything about where they are or what they do).
And how come Prince Andrew is so irrelevant that his pedophile crimes are not talked about anymore? Their hypocrisy is appalling.

    • Yvette says:

DAMN, that article is raw! Petty much???

    • Nan says:

      And “pro-Meghan trolls”!?? I’m impressed! I hope someone designs a t-shirt and a flag, I’m in.

  2. Belli says:

That’s the title I needed to see today!

Happy freedom to Harry and Meghan and Archie!

Poor poor Sarah. She and the other journalists are going to see a hit to their pockets now they’re gone. Too bad, so sad.

    • Bella DuPont says:

Aaaand, the *Monarch of Lying, Racist, Sadistic Sociopaths, Sarah Vine* thinks people from LA are insincere and unkind? 😂😂😂

  3. aquarius64 says:

The forces that drove the Sussexes out are going to get their karma one way or another.

  4. Aurora says:

The Sussexes are so “irrelevant” they haven’t been seen in weeks yet the U.K. press continues to churn out more articles about them than all the other royals combined.

Also they continue to underestimate Harry. Unlike his brother he served in the military and has built organizations like Invictus from the ground up. Now he has a Travelyst.

It’s going to be fun watching the Royal Rota press standing outside future Sussex events urchin-style with their noses pressed to the glass asking “may I please have some more?”

    • StartupSpouse says:

      HA! Thanks for the visual.

    • BabsORIG says:

I listened to a clip of This Morning Britain with Phil and Holly. They, once again, had salty Camilla Tominey going on and on about how the Sussexes were irrelevant blah, blah, blah. Phil and Holly are pretty level headed presenters (to me at least) and they never fun any racists nor biased fires on anybody, so I guess Camila is the only RR paid by their TV to give opinions etc. Anyway, at the end of Tominey biased little narrative, Sam Rubin was asked how the Sussexes were being received in the US etc etc and he said that the Sussexes are very well liked in the US and are “considerable success and popularity among the American people…” and that he thinks there are a lot of opportunities awaiting the Sussexes and he thinks there are many that want to be associated with them etc even with the COVID-19 pandemic. Watching that, I have a feeling that the expectation was that Sam was gonna say that they are hated by the American people and, you know, pile on; because soon as he said that, the topic was changed to his voyages in the Americas etc and I was like, oh that just didn’t happen!!!…..
Anyways, the haters are hoping for Sussex failure; they have no idea how the underdog always gets rooted for. I strongly believe that God is gonna stand in the gap for the Sussexes and they will thrive. So to that I say, happy freedom/independence day to my fav couple and their gorgeous baby.

      • Bohemian Angel says:

Saw that too and thought the same, they weren’t expecting Sam to be as positive as he was about the Sussexes, Camilla looked like she was sucking a lemon by the end of it, her obvious hate and hoping the Sussexes fail was squashed by Sam basically saying ‘They are gonna have a great life in LA’.

      • BUBS says:

Oh, God bless you Babs…God will certainly “stand in the gap for M and H, and they will thrive!” I have no fears when it comes to these two.

    • Beach Dreams says:

A large chunk of the royal fandom likes to underestimate him too, and they continue to push the “dumb Harry and self-centered Meghan” narrative that seems to comfort them like a blanket.

  5. Eleonor says:

Happy for them.I hope they can enjoy freedom and life.

  6. Becks1 says:

They’re so irrelevant that reporters/columnists cant stop writing about them.

Also, LMAO at “what did you do in the war against COVID-19???” WTF is he supposed to do? We all know William isn’t actually going to work as an air ambulance pilot, but I guess we can clearly see why that was put out there. Harry is in LA, but William wants to HELP!

(also, I love the way these people seem to think of southern California. Obviously there’s Hollywood and a definite “celebrity lifestyle” but lots of people live there who aren’t celebrities and have a pretty good life. It’s a very diverse area with amazing food and tons to do.)

    Happy Sussex Independence Day!

    • Nic919 says:

The xenophobia coming from the British media has been unending. First it was the non stop backwater references about Canada, as if it is just trees and maple syrup and now LA is basically Sodom and Gomorrah, with evil Hollywood where all actors are basically prostitutes.

Sarah vine should shut up about COVID-19 though because her spouse is part of a government that has seriously fucked up in terms of response and thousands more Britons will die because of the government inaction and just plain stupidity.

    • Anonymous says:

Isn’t the royal family living a celebrity lifestyle? One nowhere close to the working hours Hollywood puts in for theirs. Hollywood’s business is covered by legitimate industry outlets. The royal family is covered by tabloids.

      Happy Sussex Independence Day.

    • paddingtonjr says:

That line struck me as well. The only people who should be on the “front line of the war against Covid-19” are first responders, medical personnel, those in essential services and government leaders. The Sussexes are doing exactly what pretty much every government guideline says: staying home, going on with their lives as best they can, working from home, and, most importantly, NOT interfering with those on the front line. If the neigCambridges are smart, which is up for debate, they are doing the same things. This is not WWII where they can commiserate with bombed-out neighborhoods, use ration coupons or volunteer for the ambulance corps (hint, hint Willy). Now would be a good time for Cathy to review the results of her survey, make chutney and have “meetings” with her charities. Chill, send out a few videos of how the Cambridges are washing hands, etc. with the kids and have a big flashy photo op/thank you party for the NHS once this is over.

    • Jamie says:

Sarah Vine’s child: “What did you do in the war against COVID-19, mum?”

Sarah Vine: “I wrote petty newspaper columns bemoaning a prince’s decision not to put up with my bullshit, sweetie.”

      • 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Love the Vine Q and A, Jamie. Vine is one nasty piece of work. That she and William’s English Rose are so close tells me that Rose is probably a bitch on wheels too. But then William seems to likes that type.

    • Meg says:

Haha yes I’ve heard bullies say that ‘you don’t matter’ well if they don’t matter than why are you taking the time to bully them? You’ve got a lot to say about people you supposedly don’t care about

  7. JanetDR says:

I couldn’t be happier for them! It doesn’t matter where they live, just that they can live their lives without being picked apart on a daily basis! Also, not hearing anything from her father’s side of the family – must be they aren’t getting paid anymore?

    • Marie says:

Interesting isn’t it? I thought her dad was supposed to give an interview every 30 days. He threatened that.

    • Noodle says:

This past weekend there was a – dare I say it – slightly pro-M&H article on the DM. She basically called Meghan’s family trash and referred to their efforts to shame and discredit her as a “scheme”. I haven’t seen the article since.

    • Yoyo says:

Oh no, grifter Tommy is spouting off that Meghan and Harry should go back to England and help the Queen, they’re acting selfishly and chasing money.
He will say anything to get paid.

  8. Awkward symphony says:

    Happy Sussex Independence Day 🥳🎊
They are finally free from that snake den. Free from the control of the backstabbing bitter fools and disgusting bullies at uk press.
    My how they underestimated them.

I cant believe how the press thought vilifying Meghan who’s experienced with demands of press was a good idea!! If anything she would’ve given them a new opportunity to work exclusively but these idiots thought demeaning and mocking her would get her to comply in exchange for good reports like the others!! They seriously underestimated them and their self worth. I cant wait to hear about the lawsuits exposing others who colluded with these people to torment the Sussexs.

It’s sad for uk to lose the Sussexs but my only conciliation is that they’ll be off to a better & more prosperous future.
I see the daily mail reporters (English, Eden) are already begging for clicks🤣

    • Lady D says:

I bet Harry woke up this morning feeling 1000 pounds lighter. I can’t imagine how elated he must feel that not only has this day has finally arrived, he has the partner to end all partners to share it with. I’m glad for him today, and I bet his wife is just as happy for him and herself, not to mention what it means for Archie. I wish their family well. Even if they don’t become billionaires, they will have peace.

  9. Talie says:

It’s actually a good time for them to have slipped away and be under the radar. I shudder to think how much the British press would’ve milked Donald Trump’s tweet if a global pandemic wasn’t raging.

    • Rae says:

      I agree Talie.

I’m looking forward to seeing them kick arse in the future, with our RRs completely sidelined in doing so.

    • Belli says:

Definitely. I have no doubt they were really looking forward to launching their new venture asap, bit now they have a chance to breathe and enjoy some peace while everyone’s distracted.

    • Beach Dreams says:

Agreed. I’m so glad that ridiculous (and clearly coordinated imo) targeting by Trump didn’t last beyond Sunday. All the frenzied outrage the conservatives were trying to drum up didn’t land with anyone outside of their base.

    • Babz says:

I was thinking this morning just how, once again, Harry and Meghan are damn ninjas. They scooped up Archie and moved to LA, but no one knows exactly when. They travel in complete stealth mode when they go. No airport shots leaving Canada, none arriving in California. No one knows where they are living, and I guarantee the American paps are no slouches when it comes to ferreting out someone’s whereabouts. If they are with Doria, the paps would be camped out in front of her house, with film on TMZ to prove it. Whoever has rented/sold them a house is completely silent. If someone has given them a temporary home to use, no one is talking. This family has gone to ground in complete shadows and it seems to me that if they were the hungry fame whores the tabloids paint them as being, why would they be invisible? Wouldn’t they have splashed their movements around to the tabloids, so as to have maximum coverage? Instead it’s total crickets.

H&M are serious, sincere people who want to live life on their terms, and being incognito should be proof that they mean it. It’s driving the tabloids even crazier than they already are, and I for one, cannot wait to find out – much, much later – where they have been and how they arrived there. It will probably emerge that they have been right under the tabloids’ noses the entire time. And I will wallow in the schadenfreude of it all when the tabs get the comeuppance they so richly deserve. Followed by a complete and total trouncing in the courts.

  10. Carrie says:

God I LOVE this site. You guys see and say it like it is. You absolutely bounce trolls who infiltrate – Thank you! and don’t allow it to become in any way shape or form a forum for haters.
I wish Harry, Meghan and Archie all the very best.
Absolute fucking cheek talking about insincere people in L. A. People who live in glass houses comes to mind.
I would implore anyone in an abusive relationship to get out. H & M did the right thing for their wee family.

  11. Jay says:

This seems like a swipe at the Cambridges and their tone deaf attempts at boosting morale:

“(Harry’s) unique capacity for empathy, inherited from his late mother, would have proven invaluable in boosting the morale of frontline staff.”

First of all, empathy is not inherited – it’s learned. You can develop empathy, as well as communication skills, and you can surround yourself with people who will push you to be better, rather than catering to your worst instincts.

This both discounts the work Harry has done and lets his brother off the hook, as if leadership is a recessive gene or something.

Also, there are many reasons for Harry and Meghan to work hard at their charitable endeavors and projects, including the fact that they are being made to start from scratch, but hey, if they want to just shine to show England what they are missing, I’m cool with it.

    • Aurora says:

Honestly I’ve come to believe empathy is genetic. Some people really have no capacity to care about something until it affects them. Harry and William were raised in the same environment yet Harry is deeply empathetic while Willam’s jokes about Coranavirus came while it was currently ravaging Italy and other regions.

Also I’ve noted that non-white people overall tend to be more empathetic and more likely to think of community before self. A lot of MAGA people in the U.S. are about to get a rude awakening regarding unemployment and how it ties into healthcare. I think we’ll get a lot more universal healthcare supporters out of this pandemic.

      • Lolo86lf says:

I do believe empathy is genetic. Look how Donald Trump’s aides try to make him fake empathy because he is unable to feel it. Some people’s brains are physically incapable of feeling empathy or compassion.

    • Bella says:

“First of all, empathy is not inherited – it’s learned. You can develop empathy, as well as communication skills, and you can surround yourself with people who will push you to be better, rather than catering to your worst instincts.”

Exactly. And true, some people are predisposed to lack empathy (there is scientific evidence associating fear of the new with right wing views and lack of empathy, which will surprise no-one whatsoever) but we as humans can learn – it just takes practice. Our brains are very plastic and adaptable. So props to Harry.

      • Bella DuPont says:

Hmm….not sure I agree with the last part…..psychopaths can’t learn empathy, no matter how aggressively counseled for it. They are physically still my (as it were), to whatever minisule levels of empathy they were born with.

So essentially, I think you have to already have a certain baseline level of empathy for environmental factors (mother’s love, happy family, forgiving environment) to have an impact.

Below a certain inherent level (that one was born with), no matter the environment, you just grow up to be Rush Limbaugh or Donald Trump.

    • Bella DuPont says:

      @Jay

Empathy is mostly genetically apportioned. A quote:

“An international team led by researchers at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York has for the first time shown that one area of the brain, called the anterior insular cortex, is the activity center of human empathy, whereas other areas of the brain are not. The study is published in the September 2012 issue of the journal Brain.”

There are actually scans of the brain that record how much activity is taking place within the anterior insular vortex which can then indicate how much empathy an individual is subject to.

So for instance, women tend to record more activity than men, and prison populations tend to record the least amount of activity out of everyone. In some cases, no activity. (Clearly, you want to stay away from those f-ckers).

A very limited level of empathy can be learned as well, although the main determining factor is determined inherently. A classic case of nature vs nuture.

      • Jay says:

God, that’s depressing to think about, that one can never change. Thanks for the information!
I have read about people improving or extending their empathy through experiences, but I guess you would need at least a baseline level.

My comments were intended to be more of a rebuttal of the idea that William just doesn’t have this quality of empathy, so we should lower our expectations. That’s my reading of the article, anyway.

  12. lemonylips says:

LMO at the style of writing and all the mistakes. Just first sentence this woman wrote is filled with it. And my English ain’t perfect as I am no native, but Sarah Vine’s…. my god. And happy new year to H&M. Can’t wait to see what they do next.

  13. ABritGuest says:

I thought Sarah said to Meghan over her Vogue issue that Brits prefer true royals? So yeah let your true royals handle this. Plus people like her husband& Boris Johnson& their criminal herd immunity policy helped to exacerbate the coronavirus crisis in Britain so she should focus the ‘war effort’ on them sorting things out.

It’s disgusting- people from Daily Mail like Piers Morgan told Meghan to go back home. TV commentators said if the Sussexes were miserable that they didn’t have to remain as working royals. Now the Sussexes have done what these people advised, they are more mad than ever.

These people attacked Meghan all through her pregnancy& then demanded to see her baby immediately for their ‘colour check’. Now they are evoking Archie for a guilt trip to Harry Like he has turned his back on his country, even though royals that are in England can’t actually DO much more than the Sussexes did ie communicate through social media. And yeah some pathetic jingoism going on.

Apparently advertising in papers is down because as expected, advertisers don’t want to be linked to coronavirus so some outlets are pleading for them not to block ads in trusted brands like the Fail. Apparently in the last year the Mail Online published 1,815 articles about Meghan which was around 5 articles a day on average.More than the Queen, Charles, William and Kate combined. So they must be desperate for new Sussexes content& mad palace leaks might not have an in anymore.

    • Bella says:

Let’s hope coronavirus destroys the Daily Fail.

      • Bella DuPont says:

        AMEN. AMEN. AMEN.

        🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

P.S. Coronavirus, please pay a visit to Rupert Murdoch and see what you can do. Merci beaucoup in advance.

      • Babz says:

@Bella, that would be the best possible outcome after all this. I don’t think I am a vengeful person, but I want Piers Morgan’s complete and utter ruination, both professionally and personally. I want him shunned, I want his sick, disgusting personality and tactics laid bare for all to see. He purposefully went about attacking the Duchess’ character, morals, and actions. He deliberately drew in her horrid family, especially her father, to use against her, and gave them money to do it. He has waged a persecution war against her for no other reason than she wisely shut him out of her life. He personifies all that is evil about the British tabloid press, and he needs to answer for what he’s done. I would like to see him punished by the courts, to the point that he will have no credibility in the news media ever again. And if he has to cough up many ££££s in the process, so much the better. This one disgusting man has led the charge against a woman, and a couple, that will have historic ramifications to the Monarchy in years to come. Karma will not deal kindly with him, either. I just hope we all get to see it.

  14. BUBS says:

What did you do in the fight against COVID-19? Well, I did what the experts and health workers said to do- I stayed at home and made things just a teeny weeny bit easier on them. I also showed them how appreciative I was on social media…as other sensible people did.
It also continues to amaze me how these people keep underestimating Harry. He and his wife are bloody hard workers and only a hater can make it sound as though Harry knows nothing but the Army and his patronages! Who started Invictus? Who started Travalyst which is in the process of opening its office in the UK? That was HARRY! These people! Ha!
All I can say is thank God Harry and Meghan are out of that freak show!!! Their best days are ahead.
And as for the line about watching as his brother “considers” taking up helicopter duties? Lol. These people can’t even realize the foolishness of their own words. We’re supposed to take someone serious for ‘considering’ to do something? Yo! I guess that’s what happens when expectations are so low!
Take care of yourselves H and M. There are more people who love you than who don’t. We wish you the absolute best! Happy Freedom Day!!!

  15. Bohemian Angel says:

    Happy Sussex Independence Day!

I really do hope they can live a more peaceful life now away from that vipers pit (‘royal’ family).

And for the person that said they think the queen has coronas, you may be right. Charles has posted a message instead of the queen which raises eyebrows, unless they are keeping her safe by completely isolating her and Phillip due to their age.

    • Lady D says:

I still don’t understand why they put them together in the first place? Phillip was happy and safe where he was, why the urgency to have the Queen with him? Is it so less staff is required?

  16. Nev says:

Happy Independence Duchess and Harry and Master Archie!!!!

  17. Marjorie says:

So much made up sh*t over a couple who wants to live their own lives.

I keep going back to Cathy’s face of doom at the commonwealth ceremony…and Meghan’s (probable) “big smiles” remark after she got out of the car. That was everything.

    • Marie says:

What big smiles remark? I didn’t hear about this.

      • Jaded says:

They had a lip reader translate what she said to Harry as they entered Westminster Abbey, it was “Big Smiles!” Love her….they are so protective of each other.

      • Olenna says:

Lip readers–shameful, but typical. So, not only was that royal rota of nasty MFs standing around talking hateful trash about her before she arrived. Their news outlets were hiring body language and lip reading “experts” to scrutinize her every move. They can all go to the bad place, soonest.

      • Jaded says:

@Olenna, it was an independent lip-reader, not some trashy tabloid person or RR who hired them. I think it’s lovely that they were able to show how supportive and positive Meghan is in the worst of all possible situations.

      • Marie says:

Thanks Jaded! Knowing who they had to see, I can see why she would say that.

      • Olenna says:

Thanks for clearing that up, @Jaded. I should’ve known the usual suspect (DM) wouldn’t report anything even slightly positive.

  18. Nina says:

First of all William AND Kate ALWAYS want to do something but they do nothing because they are lazy and incompetents they are not doers.
Meghan with her AMERICAN CALIFORNIAN work ethic scared them
The anti Americanism of this poor woman is laughable.
Never seen two “irrelevant » peoples being talk about so much by the peoples who consider them Irrelevant.
All I read is that they are hurt that the royal life wasn’t enough for Harry and Meghan to accept the abuses any longer.
I hope they’ll Make so much money.
Ready to buy their books and everything

  19. Harper says:

Harry will always be Princess Diana’s son and the son of the future King. Sarah Vine is old enough to know that he will never be irrelevant. He’s the John F. Kennedy Jr. of this generation.

And what kind of nonsense is “But the Duke will have to get a job.” Sure Sarah. You know Harry can call Penguin/Random House or any of the top five publishers and boom! Millions of dollars for ANY kind of memoir. So back off with your idiocy about getting a job and go eat some Duchy Originals biscuits while reading Budgie the Helicopter to your cat and fume about Harry going rogue.

Happy Independence Day HRH Harry and Meghan!

    • BayTampaBay says:

Almost spit coffee on my keyboard when I got to “go eat some Duchy Originals biscuits”.

      Wonderful post!

      • Lady D says:

Are a British biscuit and a Canadian cookie the same thing? Honestly, the word biscuit has been puzzling me for years. The only thing sold as biscuits here are those baby cookies that teething children gnaw on.

      • BabsORIG says:

@Lady D, the British biscuit is our North American cookie. Our biscuit is a scone to them.

    • Yvette says:

@Harper “And what kind of nonsense is “But the Duke will have to get a job.” Sure Sarah. You know Harry can call Penguin/Random House or any of the top five publishers and boom! Millions of dollars for ANY kind of memoir.”

Agreed, but would he even have too? Didn’t Diana leave Harry a fortune in her Will? Why do reporters in Britain keep forgetting that?

  20. JT says:

I thought Kate was going to single handedly save the monarchy, and she can truly shine without Meghan taking up the spotlight. These RR really do sound like jilted lovers. It’s amazing to see.

    • Marie says:

It really is. Rebecca English tweeted today “It’s official….” because she sent an email to their office and it came back saying their office is closed lol. She is all in her feelings right now.

      • Olenna says:

Sending an email to their office–how f*cking stupid was that? These hateful idiots have no shame or self-respect.

      • Amazing! English is surprised and befuddled that a professional closure notice has been recorded for a professional office closing? What did she want the message to say. “We be gone you crazy racist bitches. You win. Enjoy the silence.”

  21. Ruby_Woo says:

    Happy Sussex Independence Day!!!!

I have been so sad about everything, especially Trump’s outburst about the security that no one asked of him.

I have to give a big ‘thank you’ to Meghan’s fans; the Sussex Squad who have been challenging the RRs with receipts for the last 3 years.

Sarah Vine is a vile women. She has made a career being mean, that’s her life. Even she in all her hatred for Meghan, can’t deny that Meghan’s going to easily book jobs, lol.

Instead of worrying about Harry, she should be worrying about her own Husband who is an MP and why the UK’s response to covid has been so shit. Even Trump has criticised us!

And the helicopter job again! Loooooool

    • GuestWho says:

The sussex squad has carried a LOT of water on twitter over the past three years! Receipts for miles.

      • Babz says:

I came late into that amazing group, and to Twitter, but they are epic in their defense of the Sussexes. It’s not sycophantic fan fervor, either. It’s out and out defensive warfare, complete with receipts – photos, screenshots, archived tweets – you name it, they have it. The treatment of the American biracial duchess resonated with so many of them, being people of color themselves. They saw their own experiences being relived over and over again in the treatment of Meghan – the misogyny, the racism, the marginalization, the double standards – and they weren’t going to take it anymore. They saw all the lies for what they were, and they stood up against those perpetrating them. They championed H&M’s causes, because they saw the good those causes would do for so many. They are an astounding group of people, and I firmly believe H&M were aware of their support and their efforts, and were grateful for it.

  22. Powermoonchrystal says:

Happy for Megan and Harry. This entire article is ridiculous, but if I was British, I would be pissed that William announcing that he thinking about doing something is supposed to be a show of leadership from a future king. First do something, then maybe wait for the accolades you moron.

  23. Harla says:

Wait, I thought William “was considering” learning to be a telephone counselor ? Now he’s “considering “ going back to flying? Wow, he must be so worn out by all that “considering “ that he doesn’t have the energy to actually do anything.

  24. Sussex Inspired says:

Happy #SussexIndependenceDay .. So happy for the Sussex Family and Doria. Doria will get to bond with her Daughter, Son in law and GrandSon.. The British newspapers are begging advertisers for support, 🥂 so karma has reached them finally. Sussex supporters donating to plant trees with @SussexGForrest as a farewell off gift… All in all a great send off.. The Royal Reporters can now focus on Camilla, Kate, Sophie and their husbands .. 👏🏼

  25. L84Tea says:

“Now he is thousands of miles from home, surrounded by people not renowned for their sincerity or kindness — while his own people, the British public, face the greatest challenge of a generation and are crying out for that chutzpah and cheek we used to love.”

Oh boy, she needs to back up. Say what you want about LA or America, but if anybody in the US press tried to rip Meghan up and down the way they did on a regular basis in the UK, those reporters would have been shredded, chewed up, and spit out. It never would have been tolerated. Ever. I love how the BM have all collectively developed amnesia over their treatment of her.

  26. Ali says:

Happy Sussex Independence Day. I’m sure Archie will be so proud that his parents stepped down. He will have a wonderful life.

  27. Marivic says:

If William wanted to go back to his job as an air ambulance pilot during this time of the Coronavirus crisis, he could have easily done it. But why didn’t he? Because it’s not true. It’s all press release. So puhleez Sara Vine just STFU. Happy Independence Day to PHarry and Meghan ! Carry on !

  28. Pineapple says:

WOOT-WOOT!!!!!!! Happy “Live your own Adult Life Day!”

I remember when Meg’s Dad was giving tabloid interviews, her sister as well. I remember thinking how lovely that Harry had her back.

Little did I know that she would get a chance to return the favour when his Family (unfortunately) showed their true colours.

Nothing can stop them now. They did the hardest thing already … leaving toxic Family.

  29. GuestWho says:

“…while his own people, the British public, face the greatest challenge of a generation and are crying out for that chutzpah and cheek we used to love”

Well then, driving them out with hateful invective seems short sighted at this point, no? This ish is just desperate. Sounds like “reporters” over there are hitting the day drinking pretty hard during the virus crisis.

Good luck with Cain and Unable.

  30. Loretta says:

    Happy freedom Harry and Meghan!
LOL at Sarah Vine and all the British press. They write that Harry and Meghan are so irelevant and still they’re crying because they’re gone. LOL this is the demostration how much the Sussexes are relevant, royal reporters and Royal Family are scared by the huge power that Harry and Meghan will have now.

  31. Marie says:

I’m so proud of these two. I see big things for their future. I can’t wait till we see them again but it’s good they will be away for a bit. They have been though so much since they got married. I feel like the only good thing about all of this is that it made their marriage stronger.

  32. MsIam says:

Happy Independence Day Harry, Meghan and Archie! Enjoy your freedom and may your haters everywhere eat your dust!

  33. Brit says:

I’m so happy and proud of them. They rightfully put their dignity and humanity before a bunch a greedy journalists and media and a shallow, out of touch family. Harry and Meghan deserve your life their lives to the fullest and give Archie and their future children a protected and shielded life. The media are angry and desperate and are only proving they were right to leave.

  34. paddingtonjr says:

Happy Sussex Independence Day! I wish the Sussexes a happy life as they start their new journey! And for the record, leaving the BRF was a choice only in the sense that the only other alternative was to continue letting the BM and BRF bully Meghan (and Archie – a freakin’ infant!).

  35. Beach Dreams says:

Here’s to a fresh start for Harry and Meghan. So glad they’re far away from the vipers in the press AND the royal family. The British media’s desperation is palpable and it’s quite delicious.

  36. TheOriginalMia says:

Freedom! I bet Harry & Meghan breathed the biggest sigh of relief this morning. Yoga was probably soooo relaxing and cleansing. They did it! They. Did. It. They escaped with their sanity and marriage in tact. Bravo!

Sarah Vine needs to take a chill pill. Charles is going to fund his son because he loves him. It ain’t none of her business how much and how long he funds them. Worry about your own house, Ms. Vine. Worry about Bill & Cathy. Worry about Liz. Worry about Andy. Forget the irrelevant Sussexes. They are no longer your or the UK’s whipping boy.

  37. Yoyo says:

    No good deed goes unpunished.
UK newspapers writing an open letter to advertisers begging them to buy Ads.
The reporters are on Twitter begging readers to buy subscriptions for the tabloids on line.

  38. A Guest says:

Photographer Chris Jackson posted a couple of pictures yesterday on his IG. One of them is a picture of Prince Harry giving a kiss on the hand an obviously thrilled older woman. He said that this was one of those “Harry Moments” that he loved photographing.

Harry has his mother’s charm, charisma and yes, empathy in spades.

And while I’m sure both he and Meghan have their faults (we all do), I have never doubted that the woman Harry choose would have those same characteristics.

I did not know who Meghan was before she started dating Harry, having never watched Suits. But now I don’t think he could have married anyone else.

I hope they’re both happy and live their lives how they want. I would like to see how that little cutie-pie Archie grows up. I’m going to guess he’ll be a handsome fella with a fiesty, cheeky personality. But if I don’t see a picture of him until he turns 18, that will be ok.

  39. S808 says:

Very happy for them! Yes, they have privileges but it does not cancel out the abuse they’ve gone through. I’m proud of Meghan for walking away. I’m very proud of Harry for walking away too. Both deserved better from the people that supposedly love them. Wishing them the best in this next phase of life!

  40. Jaded says:

OK Sarah – here’s one for you. You Brits are a country of cranky, curtain-twitching, tea-drinking, emotionally stunted, fussy little people in cardigans and clumpy shoes, sitting in fusty little bed-sits with their cats and Coronation Street on the telly.

Happy Sussex Independence Day! Long live Harry and Meghan!

  41. Thea says:

Has it been officially confirmed they moved? I thought we weren’t gonna go on what the RRs say anymore.

How can you be irrelevant and needed at the same time?

    • Ennie says:

I think Trump saying things kind of confirmed it, plus there was a statement in regards to who is paying for their security. Wish them well, the best.

      • Thea says:

I mean, I don’t doubt that they’re here or anything. I think it makes sense for them to be here. But I just wanted to point out that there hasn’t been an official statement and that MH said not to believe anything you here if they or their people didn’t say it. I wouldn’t take trump’s statement as proof considering the number of lies that come out his mouth in a day. And their statement about security cost would be applicable to any country they live in.

    • FicklePickle says:

Omid Scobie has confirmed the move on Twitter, and he only speaks definitively about actual facts. None of this high speculation nonsense.

  42. L4frimaire says:

These people will go on forever about this. Is Britain the only country facing this pandemic? It’s not like the “ insincere “ Californians aren’t dealing with this either, with daily increasing infections with not enough medical resources. We’re confined to our homes, school cancelled for the rest of the year, and many of us laid off from jobs. Richard Palmer was really having a meltdown moment on Twitter and getting tons of pushback. They spent the last three years attacking Harry’s wife, attacking her pregnancy, stalking his baby, undermining their projects, yet they think he’ll just shake it off and unload his family to prop the rest of them up? I really don’t understand this Harry possessiveness. Never hear this about William, they forget he’s right there, Charles’ heir. The Royals specifically did not want the continued support of the Sussexes, especially if it meant defending or supporting the Sussexes against the courtiers and tabloids. The press demanded that they get nothing or be allowed to support the Queen, and now here we are. It’s done.

  43. HELEN says:

you know, i should probably focus on minding the people around me better, but i couldn’t help but feel worried about the sussexes’ mental health, what with the dumpster fire of a pile on they’ve been subject to. at some point, it’s like, enough already.

but i was watching pre-harry clips of meghan yesterday evening, and she just seems like such an optimistic, bubbly and sunny person. there’s no way i don’t see her getting through everything, especially being on more familiar home turf and with beautiful sunshine beaming every day. they’ll be okay, she’ll be okay.

i find it remarkable how much self-worth she had that she had the balls to go and live out the life of her dreams, against all odds.

the british monarchy is a dying and quasi-irrelevant institution, anyway, it doesn’t fit in the 21st century. modernization is futile because it’s an anachronistic relic, by its very nature, and should be retired.

the shine, the sparkle, the glamour is wasted on the brf.

i’m indifferent to harry, but i have no problem recognizing their chemistry – he’s very rugged and she simply glows. seriously, watch youtube videos of her and i dare you to stop staring!

i’d originally seen her in the summer 2016 reitmans tv ad campaign, and i was stunned. something in me was like, “whoa, this chick is gonna be big.” just confident, ethereal, charming. the “inauthentic” label is odd, because she’s the same in every one of her previous interviews that are on youtube! you can say she’s earnest, very cali, but i see it more as infectiously enthusiastic. excited about life and excited to live. the brf would have had no clue what to do with such joy and exhuberance and harry should have probably realized that early on and they’d have avoided such heartache and stifling of spirit.

very, very excited and can’t wait to see what meghan will be sharing with us in the future. she is magnetic. i hope to someday be even a fraction as vivacious as she is.

    • Babz says:

@Helen, thanks for this! I will go look up Meghan’s videos, pre-Harry. I never watched Suits, but plan to binge it since we are all stuck sat home. Virginia is ordered to shelter in place until June 10, so I think I have time! One of my regrets is not being aware of the Tig in its original form. From what I understand, it was a wonderful site, chock full of a woman living her life to the fullest, while giving back in a huge way, grateful for all she had been given. I hope she revives some version of it, because she has so much to offer the world, along with her wonderful hubby.

  44. Liz version 700 says:

    let freedom ring Sussexes!

  45. Izzy says:

What did he do in the war against COVID-19?? He stayed the f*** at home, like we’re all supposed to. Instead of, say, taking precious time away from first responders for a photo op.

  46. Dierski says:

Yay!! Happy Sussex Independence Day, indeed! So happy for them and their their lovely little family. Hope they can turn fully forward and leave all this bs far behind them.

  47. Wannabesith says:

My dad always says, “Success is the best revenge!”.

    • Babz says:

Your dad was right! Along with “living well is the best revenge,” and “revenge is a dish best served cold.” I want the British tabloid media, and the royal family, to have a case of absolute frost bite!!!

  48. Abena Asantewaa says:

Sarah Vine is a detestable jealous woman, who hated Meghan from day one. Her husband, Michael Give was part of the negotiations for the ‘SussexRoyal’ branding, she no doubt influenced her husband, and leaked a lot of stories to The Mail. They are all cheesed off that Meghan was not all about the privileges of royalty, and was ready to walk away, Harry going off with Meghan is what hurts them. Harry was off to war for 10years, he has had a different kind of life from his bubbled wrapped family. The Media, forgets that Meghan was brought up by a formidable black woman, and my friends, that is the long and short of it. Good luck to them.

  49. Lisa says:

    Cheers to freedom.

  50. Vicki says:

Everyone should send this Article by Sarah Vine to every news outlet where ALL celebrity can read it. Send it EVERYWHERE. Especially, to California. Tweet ALL celebrities, let them know how the British Media really feels about them. That would give her the Slap she and the entire British Media so richly deserves. Hope Sarah Vine and all the RRs, British Tabloids remain seriously and forever bruised in and throughout their entire gossip tabloid careers.

  51. Cosmo says:

Wow. This person is using the media to once again bash Meghan and Harry and she has the nerve to say that LA is not known for kindness? This type of media bash is the reason why they left. Why don’t they focus on having the golden child and his keen wife around. Why aren’t they happy that they got what they wanted, a royal family full of dullards and useless people who will take photos and cut ribbons.

  52. yinyang says:

Oh LA is not known for their kindness, but the sharp tongued bristish press that walk around with a stick up their a$$ are?! I am happy for Meghan and Harry but I think this “oh but look what Meghan is doing ” distraction technique done by the RF and DM is never ending. I just wish, now that Meghan is no longer a part of them, she will lay everything on the table like an open book about her finances and rumours, something that RF will never and can’t do, that’ll show them!!

And BTW William doesn’t get a gold star about fanatising playing helicopters, like every boy on earth. William is lazy and hardly showed up for his job when he was there, he was a liabilty. Harry will find something that interests him once he settles in.

I really hope Meghan and Harry live to impress no one but themselves. Live well, and happy and healthy and show the others it doesn’t take a 60billion dollars and endless competing and oneupmanship to live well!!

  53. Elizabeth says:

Sincerity and kindness? SINCERITY AND KINDNESS…

Okay Rita Skeeter, Petunia Dursley, Dolores Umbridge…
