Cardi B went on an amazing rant about the youth vote, recession & ‘boronavirus’

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump host the Congressional Ball

I know Cardi B isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. If I’m being honest, she’s not my favorite person in the world, but I have a lot of respect for how she talks about political issues, economic issues and America. Let’s be real: more people will pay attention to what Cardi B says about politics than what is being said by most of the political commentators on MSNBC. I’m not saying that as a good or bad thing, it’s just a fact. Cardi reaches more people. So I like the fact that with her reach, she’s making genuinely good points, albeit in a NSFW obscene-language kind of way. But we’re all working from home now, right? So it’s fine to watch this with the volume all the way up! Here’s Cardi talking about Bernie Sanders dropping out, how we need to get Donald Trump out of the White House, how younger people need to GOTV and how we all need to focus on the economy.

What is my favorite part/quote? “Boronavirus” is definitely a highlight, and I’m still laughing. She also says that Bernie Sanders lost because “I see a lot of young people on the Internet always lying … y’all motherf–kers, y’all young motherf–kers. Y’all wasn’t voting, y’all wasn’t voting, what the f–k was up with that?” On Donald Trump, she says: “I do not want 45 to be president again, now y’all this sh-t is very f–king serious. The state of America right now, we got no f–king time to play around … do you really want 45 to be in charge of the recession.”

Cardi also announced her own stimulus package: she’s partnering with Fashion Nova to give away $1 million over the next month. They’ll be giving $1000 every hour to a needy family for the next five weeks or so.

Good for her giving back! However her face just terrified me in that clip where she’s got her hair up. She doesn’t look anything like how I remembered. She’s unrecognizable!

She made very excellent and cogent points. I’m worried about our day to day at the moment but I’m also terrified about the inevitable economic downturn. People will really suffer. And Trump lacks basic will and empathy to help the everyday working class person and minority. I just saw yesterday that some people won’t even get their stimulus checks until June/July. Meanwhile the corporate bailout is underway. I’m so overwhelmed with it all

Not to mention, Trump has recently removed the Watchdog responsible for the $2T virus rescue oversight among others who he thinks are being critical of his response. Let that sink in. Scary times and she’s right.

Cardi’s come up is very recent and she’s not so far removed from her old life that she understands the gravity of the situation. Glad she’s using her platform to inform her fans who may not have been paying attention.

+1. Hearing about small acts of kindness and how different ones are using their platforms +privilege to help out is extra uplifting right now. Halsey donated 100,000 masks to different hospitals in California, and Bella Thorne is giving tenants a rent break because if unemployment. I thought her statement was really considerate, not the kind of out of touch thing we may have expected.

Thank you Cardi! I respect her willingness to say it like it really is. She has influence over a segment of the population and if even one person is mobilized to register or to vote, she has done more than many. Good job!

I wouldn’t have recognized her in that photo if I hadn’t known it was her – only because I’m so used to her eye makeup game. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen her without a dramatic wing or other perfectly crafted eye look.

She’s not my favorite person, but she definitely isn’t my least, either. Probably somewhere in the neutral camp. She brings up good points but I really wish she’d do more to talk about the dangers of plastic surgery, and not blame women for her man’s cheating. I don’t condone her assaulting people or anything like that. But I do genuinely appreciate that she is taking an interest in politics, and she’s sharing that with her audience. I don’t really care who the messenger is, but we need to get people from all walks of life on board with voting, and I’m proud of her for doing that.

  9. Laalaa says:

This is the best American political speech I have heard in a while. It’s raw and completely honest.

  10. Esp.Lumiere says:

Speaking the truth. Good on her!

  11. Spikey says:

Sorry upfront for the shallow comment. I really like her /her persona, she seems to have a lot of common sense and empathy. But whyyyyyyy those nails? How can she pick anything up? How does she change a tampax?

  12. Giddy says:

Honest and entertaining and she certainly got her points across. Biden needs to ask her to be in charge of a “get out the vote” effort. She could make a huge difference.

  13. Lua says:

I like her. I think she has a good heart. She’s just very dramatic 😂

  14. Texas says:

I have just become a Cardi B fan. She is flat out smart. Don’t you know that she is a good friend and the one who tells it to you straight and whose advice you can take to the bank.

  15. Truthiness says:

Love everything she said here, no lies detected.

    😂 I Love Cardi! She’s not wrong!
