Was Chrissy Teigen tweeting about Taylor Swift’s self-destructive Sagittarius vibe?

This is maybe my favorite dumb story of the day? Probably. Chrissy Teigen, as we all well know, lives on the internet. She’s always on Twitter, tweeting random things and getting into fights and stunt-queening. Last night, she tweeted this:

Personally, I didn’t know before now that this is a Sagittarius thing, the vein of self-destructive, vengeful inclination, the vibe of doing sh-t out of spite and having it boomerang back onto you. That is… antithetical to Virgo vibes. Don’t get me wrong, Virgos can be self-destructive too, but we’re not self-destructing out of spite or a need for drama and beef. We spiral because we put blinders on and focus so hard, we don’t notice that we’re racing off a cliff.

As for that Sagittarius thing… well, Taylor Swift is a Sag. And her lyrics in “The Archer” are “Dark side, I search for your dark side/But what if I’m alright, right, right, right here?/And I cut off my nose just to spite my face/Then I hate my reflection for years and years.” So, obviously, the Snake Fam thought Taylor INVENTED cutting off one’s nose to spite one’s face, and therefore Chrissy Teigen was subtweeting the Snake Fam. For what it’s worth, I never realized that the “cutting off nose” idiom was so old – it dates back to, like, the 12th century? But that didn’t stop people from making Swift references:

And Chrissy had to tweet this:

So what did we learn, kids? That the history of English idioms is long and tortured and probably involved people literally cutting off their noses. We also learned that the Snake Fam truly believes that everything is about their Snake Queen. And we learned that Sagittarius peeps are self-destructive drama queens? I don’t get it, honestly. I only speak Virgo.

I love the color of that dress. All I got

  2. Tiff says:

    As a Sag… unfortunately it’s true.

    • Anon says:

As a fellow Sag, not true for all of us.

      #archersrule

      • Mel M says:

As a sag I have never felt like any of it was me and it always made me jealous that everyone else is like “that’s so true!” About their own signs.

    • Andrew’s Nemesis says:

Also as a Sagittarius… none of it’s true. Horoscopes are complete nonsense. Cambridge University ran studies on the psychology of astrology and concluded that because of humans’ innate credulity, they would believe whatever was written in a horoscope precisely because it is vague and could apply to anyone (‘you have been experiencing conflict’ – who hasn’t – ‘beware of financial troubles’ – who DOESN’T need to worry about finances).

the funniest thing about ppl thinking zodiac signs are real…1) the southern hemisphere has flipped seasons & w/that, the ‘descriptions’ dont add up when ppl try to match bdays w/signs & 2) the speculation SOME of the characteristics ring true has to do w/the season born/raised in at certain points bc that can affect immune system; we’re learn SO MUCH every year how the immune system affects things like personality, coping mechanisms, etc as well as how gut flora plays a HUGE role into our cravings, body health, neural activity, immune system…. like I said, its fun to think about why SOME details ring true, but…the stars are not static. neither are the calendars throughout history. its FUN to THINK ABOUT…but ppl really shouldnt *actually* believe this is a real thing….tho the people who believe crystals have healing powers are muuuuch worse. as long as its just for fun, sure…but its not predictive lol honestly, ppl into the moon phases are closer to science, cause that at least DOES affect the tides, gravity, certain day/light patterns that affect all diurnal species.

As a fellow Sag, yeah, we’re risk takers. But, we do it with style.

  3. Annie says:

Also an Archer over here… and I am neither self destructive nor a drama queen. I guess it just depends on which traits are dominant in the sign 🤷‍♀️

  4. naomipaige99 says:

I cannot stand this chick. She is annoying af!!!!!!

    • echo says:

she can be funny sometimes, but its confusing to me how all she does is comment on other ppl’s careers rather than have one. omg tho her kids w/john legend are adooooorable!

  5. Imtired says:

My partners a sag and not like that actually. Im with Chrissy, Its like a bunch of people are kind of illiterate if they never heard that expression before ts’ recent album

  6. Vexa says:

I’m sag sun and aries moon and yes, the drama queen in us is strong. But I don’t know if we’re necessarily self-destructive; I think that our bluntness can totally backfire, but it’s always aimed AT someone, if you know what I mean.

  7. Kelly Darksin says:

Not the only thing sag-ing in the first picture

    • Lou says:

If this is a snide comment about her boobs, then you’d be wrong because those girls look amazing

    • echo says:

would *love* to see a pic of your stunner self, Kelly Darksin. we’re waiting 🙂

  8. Carol says:

Well, I’m Gemini, so I see things 2 ways.

  9. Jules says:

are we actually questioning whether or not chrissy did this intentionally for drama and attention? this woman could be the last surviving human on a desert island and she would still find a way to get attention.

  10. Clare says:

I married a Sag and what I have noticed that he’ll stick his foot in the mouth all time without a clue that he created hurt feelings. But he is not a drama queen and stays away from the messiness.

  11. ML says:

I’m a Sag. Chrissy and I are very simpatico. Taylor S though, eww I feel like I need to look at her other placements. Also I am engaged to/live with/run a business with a Virgo and while usually it’s “cute! Balance! Opposites attract!” often it’s carthagian “peace” lol

  12. Valiantly Varnished says:

Brad Pitt is a Sagittarius. Enough said.

  13. Taya says:

I saw that on twitter and was also surprised that a lot of people didn’t know that idiom. And it was obvious, that Chrissy was talking about herself.

Random fact about me, I’m also. Sagittarius, and throughout my life, three of my best friends have been virgos (specifically have birthdays on sept 15 or 16). But no, I don’t believe in horoscopes either.

  14. Texas says:

Chrissy is also a Sag I think? Sooo

  15. Jane says:

I am a Sagittarius and definitely not a drama queen but can be self-destructive. Small procrastination and not being able to finish task and trying to look into what you can do in the future rather than finishing off what you need to do right now

  16. A Fan says:

Sagittarius is known for blurting things out and for not being particularly tactful. However, the jovial personality usually overrides any bad feelings that may arise because of that trait.

It’s important to note that there is far more to one’s natal chart than one’s sun sign and some of those traits can contradict one’s sun sign. So to say ‘oh, I’m a Sagittarius and I’m so not like that’, is because there are tempering factors and far more to a person’s chart. People are complex, and a complete natal chart is a fascinating tool for self-understanding.

[Also, a daily or weekly horoscope is NOT the same as a natal chart or any other chart – don’t confuse the two.*]

  17. L4frimaire says:

I’m a Sag but while have said things I shouldn’t have, don’t consider myself self-destructive. Chrissy Tiegen bugs me. I follow her, like how she gets under Trumps skin, and can be funny, but she just craves attention, in the most needy way. Like totally self aware, self conscious but lacking introspection. She seems kinda passive aggressive toward her husband, assume she’s joking, but he’s way too good for her.
