Meghan McCain described her Manhattan neighborhood as a ‘war zone’

I love it when Karens like Meghan McCain get called out on their obvious crap. It happens to Meghan “MY FATHER” McCain all the time. She’ll say something awful or racist or privileged or tone-deaf or all of the above, then she’ll quickly have her ass handed to her, usually one minute later. I know exactly how Meghan sees herself, as some great defender of white people and “real” conservatism. A defender of cops, a defender of bombing millions of brown people, a defender of white privilege. That kind of person. So Meghan lives in New York because she works at The View. Poor Meghan left her home briefly yesterday and she was shocked to find Manhattan looking like a WAR ZONE.

Lea Michele arrives at the 10th Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic Los Angeles held at Will Rogers State Historic Park on October 5, 2019 in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, California, United States.

If that seems out-of-touch and like it’s a complete lie, you would be correct. A woman named Kristen Bartlett responded to Meghan – Bartlett is the co-head writer for Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. This was her response:

Yeah. You know what I also think is remarkable? I expect this kind of “false witness” sh-t from Meghan McCain, but the New York Times is really f–king up their reporting on the protests. It’s like all of the stories are being written by white people in bunkers who think that every American city is going to “fall” to “looters.”

I think Meghan is in Arizona. TF does she know about what’s going on in NY?

Someone on Twitter said that without her famous father, Meghan would be that woman in your office who lies about her coworkers to start drama.

And the NY Times always does this. They are known for this. They can’t pretend to live in a Woody Allen movie if they have to deal with protesting.

All of this is perfect. I love the Meghan comment and I just can’t with the NYT. Some of their reporters are really good but so often they do represent the worst of white privilege and obliviousness in how they report on these things. Everytime I think of subscribing they remind me again of how problematic they are.

    • MissMarierose says:

She’s definitely not in NYC. She posted a tweet this morning – ahead of a coming news article – stating that she is somewhere else and that her original tweet was based on news reports about what’s going on in Manhattan.

  2. Chica1971 says:

Who cares? Folks dying and oppressed, she’s complicit. I really don’t care for her or her performative concern.

    • Sparkle says:

Exactly. She is racist. Focusing on the looting instead of the police brutality is her way of delegitimizing black lives

She is part of the system that is broken and needs to be torn down. Her politics oppress poc. Shes cancelled

I’m fkn sick and tired of this trash bag trolling us on the View which gives her, and her nasty corrupt husband, a larger platform.

  4. lucy2 says:

Bravo to Kristen Bartlett for calling her on that nonsense.

  5. Veronica S. says:

That call out is hilarious. As IF I believe the wealthy areas of Manhattan aren’t being protected best of all. Bitch really think we’re that dumb.

The headline on that NYT newspaper is really jarring when you look at the online site, which is definitely more balanced. This being said, WaPo (I KNOW) and CNN have definitely been highlighting the police brutality issue better.

  6. adastraperaspera says:

Who funds The Federalist (her husband’s ultra right-wing publication)?

You know, I always expected her to trade on her father’s fame. But her leap to becoming a dedicated racist mouthpiece was actually a surprise to me.

Those eyebrows look like a war zone

I dunno about Bill De Blasio’s track record with Black Lives Matter, he has personally said he respects the movement but I feel like a lot of people are angry for the way the Eric Garner case was handled under his watch. I know that’s not what Meghan was referring to when she said he was a “disgrace,” she’s angry about the looting and destruction which is so typical of her to focus on.

Speaking of, I dunno if you guys saw on the news but De Blasio’s daughter was arrested at one of the protests (his wife is African American so Chiara is biracial) but quickly let go. I’m glad she wasn’t hurt and got out of it okay. I can’t imagine what would have happened in NYC had the NYPD attacked her physically without knowing who she was.

    • NightOwl says:

Re: Chiara de Blasio’s arrest – the NYPD sergeant’s union actually posted her arrest report on Twitter with identifying details. NYPD and de Blasio are not on the best of terms for a variety of reasons. I actually don’t know who de Blasio’s allies are at this point – he has few, and many enemies.

      • Amelie says:

I saw that!!! Their Twitter account was suspended because of it. Luckily her address simply stated Gracie Mansion, which is the mayor’s residence in NYC. That’s very easy for anyone to look up and I’m assuming the mansion has a lot of security. But it should never have happened in the first place!

  9. MaryContrary says:

Jesus, drama, much? I read this and my eyes have rolled back in my head.

  10. Lotus says:

I cant stand these people complaining about the riots. From my memory people have tried peaceful protests, petitions and legal avenues to stop the ongoing murder of black men and yet here we are again in 2020. Maybe riots will actually spark change bc the legal options already usee certainly hasn’t.

  11. Jess says:

    Edit-wrong thread!

Fuck Megan and her lies, I’m surprised she left that tweet up, she got called out and looked like a fool.

  12. HK9 says:

The only person in Megan’s life who would know what a war zone looks like and what to say about it is her late father. If she would think of what he would say before she opened her trap, life would be better for her. P.S., white people riot over sports teams and no one complains….she should think about that.

  13. Cee says:

Her brain is a war zone. Period.

  14. Wannabesith says:

She has no idea what a war zone is like. I do, Mogadishu, Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan. She needs to get out of her little tiny bubble and take off her rose colored glasses and do some real reporting. Get out there with the protesters, stand with them, listen to their stories.

Keep posting that pink hairband picture because she looks so bad lol
