Jennifer Garner has a week long yoga and meditation series on Instagram

Jennifer Garner kicked off this week with a week-long series on Instagram with yoga and meditation instructor Chelsea Jackson Roberts, Ph.D. . She hopes to make yoga and meditation more accessible by bringing us ten-minute daily Instagram Live sessions. This is a much-needed respite at this time.

Jennifer is hoping to create a daily meditation routine that she and her followers can stick to.

Garner took to Instagram on Sunday to share her very relatable struggles and announce that she’s teaming up with Peloton yoga and meditation instructor, Chelsea Jackson Roberts, Ph.D., for a week-long meditation series hosted on Instagram…

According to Garner’s original IGTV every day from Monday, July 20 through Sunday, July 26 Roberts will go Live on IG Stories with Garner at either 7 a.m. or 10 a.m. PST (that’s 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. EST) to guide followers through a 10-minuted meditation session…

The pair kicked off their first session on Monday with a focus on “getting to know one another.” During the nearly 20-minute Instagram Live, Roberts shared how daily meditation can benefit everyone, especially amid the growing coronavirus pandemic and the fight against racism and racial injustice. She also revealed that meditation helps to “inform and impact” how she’s experiencing the world today.

And before beginning to meditate, Roberts channeled her inner instructor and focused on a few basics, such as how and where to sit while meditating…

From there, Roberts began to lead Garner and her groupies through a meditative body scan—a process that’s especially ideal for beginners as it “introduce[s] us to getting into our bodies and getting familiar and comfortable with our breath,” according to Roberts. No matter your level, a body scan involves mentally moving from your head down to your toes, honing in on any spots that might be holding tension. Roberts then instructed everyone to channel their breath as a “superpower.”

As a tantric yoga instructor for my brand The Aha Experience, I started a weekly yoga session on Saturdays for my Twitter friends. It’s to help others ground themselves in these chaotic times and make yoga and meditation more accessible to people, especially people of color. With coronavirus and the injustices around the world, I know many are feeling drained, powerless, angry, and scared. Like Jennifer, I believe that having people choose one day out of a busy week to dedicate to themselves is priceless and healing.

As I work on building out a digital yoga platform, I will definitely be joining these daily sessions with Jennifer and Chelsea. In stressful times, even I forget to pause and check-in with myself. And it was not lost on me that out of all of the yoga and meditation instructors that Jennifer could have chosen, she chose a woman of color and that says a lot. Despite yoga and meditation being from India and South Asia, in the larger yoga and meditation worlds, people of color are largely erased.

Call me crazy (go ahead, I wouldn’t blame you 🤗), but I feel like I need a running head start. So I am inviting all of you to join me and Dr. @chelsealovesyoga for a week of 10 min meditations, starting tomorrow, Monday, July 20th at 7am PST (10am EST). Aside from being one of the most coveted yoga and meditation coaches @onepeloton, Dr. Jackson Roberts is a scholar (connecting yoga, literature and storytelling—so cool!), an activist, and a philanthropist. She’s on many missions, but “normalizing” yoga and meditation for everyone—I need to hear it and am inviting you along to hold me accountable. ♥️ Please, let’s go LIVE together for 10 minutes every day this week- times and topics below. I’m a little bit 😬, but with Chelsea— I know we’re in the right hands. ♥️🧘🏻‍♀️♥️ . 10 minutes live with @chelsealovesyoga and me! Monday – 7am PST / 10am EST – let’s get to know each other other Tuesday – 10am PST / 1pm EST – yoga & meditation to get through COVID-19 Wednesday – 7am PST / 10am EST – yoga & meditation to understand, reflect, and engage BLM Thursday – 7am PST / 10am EST – yoga & meditation for families Friday – 10am PST / 1pm EST – yoga & meditation for HOPE and JOY . I love this. As stressful as the pandemic has been at times I consider myself to be very lucky for my circumstances and having access to so many mental and physical health outlets these past 4 months. As shitty as a large portion of this country(US) is, I gain hope & perspective from those of us that are truly trying to look outside of ourselves and help others.

I’ve recently gotten back into meditation and even persuaded the bf to participate. It’s really helped us center and keep focus on this next phase of our lives and keep our calm. Will definitely check out Jen’s insta for this!

I LOVE Dr. Chelsea. She’s the reason I do yoga weekly through Peloton, and I’ve been checking out her mediations as well. I used to go to an amazing yoga studio, and then moved away. Since then I’ve tried so many other classes and instructors, in person and virtually, and I’ve never had that same feeling that I got with my old studio, until Chelsea started instructing through Peloton.

Jennifer must be doing a lot of meditating and yoga in these days of her ex’s pap walks.
My issue with most tantra and kundalini teachers is that they actually have no clue about legit kundalini. What would they do if a student actually experienced this in class? To say they are a teacher of something they have no experience with is not a real teacher.

This sounds really great. Thanks for posting about it! I don’t follow Jennifer so I had no idea it was happening. I will tune in for sure.
