Donald Trump is suing to get states to stop counting absentee ballots, lmao

Trump Addresses the Nation on the Election Results

So I did take a big nap yesterday afternoon and I missed some things, but… the only time Donald Trump went on camera since the polls closed was his White House tantrum early Wednesday morning, correct? He avoided going on camera for the rest of Wednesday, choosing instead to use his voice by tweeting out a flurry of unhinged things, almost all of which were tagged by Twitter as misinformation or treason or whatever.

The basic gist is that Donald Trump believes that it’s illegal – nay, deeply criminal – for states to, you know, count votes. He’s once again claiming that there’s something untoward happening with absentee ballots, and he doesn’t understand how so many of the absentee ballots – many of them from city voters, liberal voters – are ALLOWED to be counted. He wants to stop states from counting y’alls votes. He doesn’t understand how he can be “winning” a state with only 20% of the vote in, yet losing the same state with 95% of the vote in. He just doesn’t get it!

So Trump and his newly-hired legal team (Jared Kushner apparently made some calls YESTERDAY to hire some people) have been trying to stop various states from counting ballots. There are now lawsuits or threats of lawsuits from the Trump team in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Nevada and Arizona too. And Georgia. The Trump legal argument is basically “votes shouldn’t count if they’re from Democrats!” The face of this argument is Rudy Giuliani which LMAOOOOOOO. Look what happened on Fox F–king News.

I’m dying, OMG. As for the “lawsuits,” as law professor Justin Levitt told Pro Publica, “A lawsuit without provable facts showing a statutory or constitutional violation is just a tweet with a filing fee.” Levitt says that judges are standing up to the Trump team: “They’ve actually demanded facts and haven’t been ruling on all-caps claims of fraud or suppression. They haven’t confused public relations with the predicate for litigation, and I would expect that to continue.”

Meanwhile, Trump’s unhinged MAGA moron army has descended on polling stations where votes are being processed and counted in Michigan, Arizona and other states. These dumb white folks need a hobby. I mean, I’m scared that these dumbasses are going to hurt people, for sure. But mostly I just hope that the MAGA fog is lifted at some point.

He is going to stress himself to actual death trying to cheat his way back in. Dude JUST had Covid-19….or so he says. Why I have empathy for him is beyond my understanding. But when he does pass, it will be of his own accord: pure evil.

  2. Sierra says:

Come on Georgia & North Carolina, go blue and also give us the 3 Senate seats 🙏🏽

  3. OSTONE says:

In Mexico we have this saying “patadas de ahogado” as in “drowning kicks”. The walls are closing in and I for one love it. As a Georgia Democrat, if Georgia turns blue it would be monumental and that’s thanks to the work of Stacey Abrams and her team plus all the WOC getting the vote out. We may not have gotten the Senate back and the election is way too close for comfort.. but flipping GA would be a massive reward for this GA peach!!!!

    • BlueSky says:

My sister lives in GA, Clayton county and she is very excited about this. Of course he wants to stop counting in the predominantly blue and predominantly black counties.

    • Anna says:

Is it still possible that Georgia can flip? I ask as from where I am it looks like that state will go to Trump. Over 98% of the votes have been reported already.
      All hope lies with Nevada.

      • Becks1 says:

Last I checked, yes. Trump’s lead keeps narrowing and the votes coming in are trending for Biden at a higher rate than they need to in order for him to close the gap and win. Same is true for PA, which is why those are the states where Trump wants the counting to stop.

      • Lemons says:

It looks like Trump’s lead bumped up in the last hours. I’m holding out hope as a Georgia voter, but the Karens and Kevins in the state of Georgia are MANY.

They are absolutely the neighbors who are super sweet like molasses, but will also vote Trump because they’re racist (but my family and I are one of the good ones!)

I’m so done with Georgia and America as a whole. Not putting roots down there if I can help it.

    • Cee says:

In Argentina we say “manoteo de ahogado” which basically means trying to hold on to water while you drown.

  4. Mignionette says:

Unpopular opinion here but I actually want Trump to completely lose his shit, drag this thing out, go renegade and refuse to hand over power like a true narc.

I then want that cray behaviour to be the basis for some major digging into the Trump family and the Deutsche Bank loans fiasco. I want this mofo’s world to crumble and to see him and his family in prison where they belong for treason and other heinous crimes.

    • Snuffles says:

People are already investigating all of his crimes. We don’t need to see him go scorched earth to do it. 4 years of crazy was more than enough.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Do you think that would turn even the MAGATs against him? The ones who were armed at polling stations demanding to be allowed to observe – it boggles my mind why people think it’s ok to do that?

There is going to be nothing but civil unrest for the next 3 months until Joe is sworn in. And yes I now believe he is going to win.

      • bluemoonhorse says:

Nothing will turn MAGA’s against Trump other than 1.) his death, 2.) a long exposure of his crimes) and 3.) time.

      • Agirlandherdog says:

Nope. Him dragging this out just gives him more time to sow even more discord and have his magats frothing at the mouth. Decisive victory, courts shutting down his frivolous suits quickly. And me standing outside with the White House waving a sign that says “You’re fired” in one hand and a “Lock him up” sign in the other. Please and thank you.

    • AnnaKist says:

Oooooooh, Mignionette! I love your thought process. I’m not American, but have always detested trump, even before that stupid show catapulted this corrupt maggot into the realm of entertainment. I want what you want. Ruination doesn’t just need to be done. Ruination must be seen to be done. By him and his family, mainly, but a little schadenfreude will be good for the rest of us.

    • Snuffles says:

PS. Pretty sure there are legal teams locked and loaded (ESPECIALLY in New York!) to prosecute and take down EVERYONE in Trumps family and orbit.

      • Miranda says:

As a New Yorker, I desperately hope they make Trump do a perp walk down 5th Avenue so we can shout insults and throw shit at his head.

      • bluemoonhorse says:

Google: Letitia James NY Attorney General Trump

    • Seraphina says:

The cracks started to show Tuesday night, when Trump was beginning to lose some of his lead, people started to leak (from within his own camp) how badly he was taking it and yada yada yada. When the dust settles and the dirt comes to light of what he and his family did for four years, people will be shocked. And that is why he is running scared.

      • ce says:

All his people care about are money and themselves. The fact that they’re already selling him out is great for two reasons: one, they’re going to do all the work for us of exposing the crimes, but two, they’ll indict each other alll over the place trying to save their own asses. You love to see it

      • Carisel says:

I was on MSNBC yesterday watching this unfold, and they were interviewing Michael Steele along with a few other pundits, and the word was that the Biden team and the Trump team have already been in touch about the transition. Hitler 2.0 might be throwing tantrums and thinking he can still steal this thing, but behind the scenes the administration knows what’s going to happen and they’ve accepted it.

      • Seraphina says:

@Carisel, I’m sure Trumps team is ready to end the crazy rodeo and get to some normalcy.

  5. Eleonor says:

Now lock him and throw away the key.
Melania is going to be happy!

  6. Aurora says:

My only fear is that after a confirmed Biden win, Trump will burn down the house on his way out with unhinged executive orders.

    • Izzy says:

      EOs can be rescinded.

    • bluemoonhorse says:

JMO but it looks more and more like he will slink off to Mar-a-Lago and play golf for the next 2 months. I think he’ll go into hiding, surround himself with sycophants, and lick his wounds.

Why? Because his tactics to disrupt the election didn’t work. He tried, oh boy he tried, but it amounted to nothing. No Civil War. No White Supremacists shooting up polling stations. No news media letting him report an early win. Yeah, he’s not even shooting blanks anymore – he can’t get it up.

  7. Esmom says:

The outrage about counting mail-in ballots doesn’t extend to AZ, though, because they have been voting by mail for years. Alarmingly, Trumpers with guns have packed the parking lot of the facility in Maricopa County. Funny how tear gas and rubber bullets aren’t even considered for this mob.

    • Chris says:

And apparently they’re yelling at the people counting the votes to “count the votes!” These people are stupid and brainwashed. They only want mail in ballots counted where it might benefit trump.

I hope most Republicans are embarrassed by this because they deserve to be. Trump and his supporters are throwing an all out tantrum.

      • Josie Bean says:

They won’t be embarrassed – this is their new norm.

      • holly hobby says:

Most GOP have already started distancing themselves from the Rumpster. Turtle McMyrtle publicly said all the votes should be counted. The former Wisconsin governor told tweeted that a recount is a waste of time because the gap between him and Joe is insurmountable at this point. Even that Evil Rupert Murdoch refused to cater to him. There were reports that he called Murdoch to make him rescind the “Arizona goes to Biden” news and Murdoch refused.

        The rats definitely bailed here.

  8. Seraphina says:

Trump went quiet yesterday. Which I joked, someone must have muzzled him. Maybe Ivanka, she is the only one who could get close enough while he is foaming at the mouth.
I have read European leaders have lost a great deal of respect for him in the the way he has handled himself and the lack of civility he has shown a country that is fighting a pandemic. People are dying – El Paso has more body refrigerators that arrived due to the death toll from COVID and this guy refuses to show himself to be a HUMAN being and lead. Just like when Georgia was showing that Trump was losing his lead – immediately his campaign announced they would sue. He is the laughing stock of world leaders and the world and yet this man could care less. He does not deserve the seat of POTUS. And in a way he is responsible for his undoing. He mishandled this country and the pandemic, so everyone came out early to AVOID chaos. CHAOS – what Trump fosters and functions under best. He brought this on himself and it is glorious to see. Like a slow bandaide being pulled off a wound. God is good. It must be excruciating for Trump to sit through these past few days and watch this unfold; not to mention hell for his minions to have to deal with him.

    • AnnaKist says:

Now that you mention it, Seraphina, he really is quite like a rabid dog… And, what? Some European leaders once had respect for him? Huh.

      • Seraphina says:

I think “respect” was more of a diplomatic respect to a leader of the country. Whether we like it or not, he was the POTUS and represented us on the world stage. But not being able to hold it together and lashing out and calling the process flawed – a process which was not questioned 4 years ago when he won – was icing on the cake.

    • Josie Bean says:

Well, Teresa May (former UK PM) has got to loathe Trump. He undermined her when she was trying to get Parliament’s approval for her Brexit deal with the EU (Trump publicly announced that May’s deal wasn’t any good). It would seem likely that Angela Merkel thinks he is a twit – he publicly made derogatory comments about her after meeting her at, I think, was a G7 meeting. I think the only leaders who dearly love Trump are the Russian and Chinese leaders because they can see the US quickly deteriorating under his watch.

    • Miranda says:

My dad and I were just discussing how shocking it is that, in just 4 years, Trump managed to squander almost every last ounce of goodwill that America has earned over our (almost) 2.5 century history. I mean, we knew he would be bad, but I don’t think most of us expected that he’d be THIS bad. No one anticipated that he’d let 250K people die just because he wanted to be a petulant contrarian.

      • Seraphina says:

Yes, and he has treated the world stage as his own private Jersey Boardwalk to continue his play for money and power. From Putin to Erdogan, he is in bed with tyrants. My hope is that if Biden wins, civility will be restored and we will not be judged by the madman who was in power for 4 years.

      • Veronica S. says:

To be fair, it’s not Trump that squandered it. It’s the American people who voted him into office because he was a ~break from the norm~, as if that isn’t a wildly irresponsible thing to do in a country this size and with this kind of power, and it’s the American people who didn’t bother to show up to keep him out, too. The rest of the world should be looking at these results as a kind of grim portent for the next decade. America is going to be very busy dealing with its internal problems.

      • Seraphina says:

@Veronica S., while I understand your point I think the people were wanted change and he was change (for those who voted for him). I don’t think anyone could have fathomed how irrational and illogical he would be and could be, I also hold the GOP responsible for not keeping him in check. There are checks and balances that were put in place and he went UNCHECKED.
What America must come to terms with is that the founding fathers placed a system for the country that was based on idealism and not “Divine Intervention”. And unfortunately, when an unethical business man is put at the helm, he will run the country the same way.

    • LightPurple says:

He made a speech at 2:30 AM yesterday morning, after being up to a similar time and traveling all around the country the past 5 days That takes a toll on a 70+ year old body. He never went to the Oval Office yesterday. He was probably asleep most of the day.

Don’t give Nagini credit for being a moderating influence in any area. She simply isn’t and she supports everything he does. She probably spent yesterday loading artwork into the moving van that was seen outside the White House when she wasn’t throwing things at people.

  9. Aang says:

Imagine if a group of black or brown or young people in black clothes we’re mobbing the counting places? Why are the people allowed to do this? Where’s the tear gas ?

    • ChillyWilly says:

I know. It’s so infuriating that these dangerous armed trash boxes are allowed to get away with this crap. I hate these people so much.

    • Veronica S. says:

I’m glad they didn’t since it could’ve interrupted the counting process and harmed people inside, but yeah, it’s beyond messed up. Our police have made it abundantly clear they will stand firmly on the side of fascism across the board. That part is now said out loud.

  10. Miranda says:

    Squirm, motherfuckers. SQUIRM.

  11. Cee says:

In our last election, the Presidential Party had people storm voting places and try to bully the opposition’s voting workers to try and suppress counting. The opposition party had to send BODYGUARDS to protect volunteers. They won in the end and we all knew it would be because no one tries to bully and intimidate election workers if you’re winning.

    • Miranda says:

I also remember that when Obama was running, some Republicans were claiming that the “Black Panthers” were prowling around polling places and intimidating people. They LOOOVE to play the victim. I’m surprised they don’t just throw themselves into the lion enclosure at the nearest zoo and try to become actual martyrs.

  12. Seraphina says:

I have also read some counters (can’t recall where) began to feel intimidated by the Trumpers who came out to see how the process was proceeding. That is where I also get angry. These people are democracy at work and volunteering. Some are afraid to give their names when asked – imagine to be volunteering your time during a pandemic and instead of proudly giving your name, you are afraid to do so. THIS is what has happened to our country. Just another result of four years of chaos in the highest office in the land.

    • Miranda says:

A friend of mine volunteered as a poll worker in Michigan, and her dad and her husband didn’t want her to do it because they were terrified that some MAGA asshole would come and shoot up the place. Obviously that didn’t happen, but I thought it was so depressing that their fears were not totally baseless. This just isn’t something that’s supposed to happen in America, right? This is like the Taliban roaming around Kabul and attacking anyone who has a purple thumb.

      • Lady D says:

I had to look the purple thumb reference up. We so easily take freedom for granted. I have never been in danger voting. Not once in 40 years. It would have never even occurred to me (pre-trump) that I might be in danger voting.

    • ChillyWilly says:

And I am willing to bet that no e of these mouth breathing cretins have ever volunteered for any kind of civic work in their lives.

    • bluemoonhorse says:

It needs to become a federal law that guns cannot be within X amount of feet of a polling station. Since open carry states like mine refuse to do this.

  13. Lady Luna says:

He’s on Twitter right now crying, demanding that they stop the count. I can’t believe how many people agree with him. SMH!

  14. B says:

The orange man with the little hands really thinks he is a king. He thinks that he can wave his baton, and his peons will do his bidding

  15. TrixC says:

Ok, I’m not American, so forgive my ignorance of your political system, but I don’t understand why states report partial counts if the early counts are so unrepresentative of the final tally. Why not just wait until all the votes are counted before reporting? Trump is deliberately spreading misinformation, but the system seems to feed his narrative.

    • Josie Bean says:

Having grown up in the US, I don’t understand this either – I wish they would just wait until the votes are counted and save the drama. I do recall when Ronald Regan was elected President (1980s), they actually announced that he was the winner before the polls closed on the West coast. People standing in the queues to vote, just turned around and went home. After that, they were not allowed to announce a winner until all the polls closed

    • Lizzie says:

Good question. My guess is transparency but IDK.

      • Josie Bean says:

I think you are right – it must be for transparency. In the past it was no problem, but with Trump and his minions they cannot handle the fact that the front runner can change as more votes are counted.

    • Tourmaline says:

Mainly because elections are run by local governments like counties and they report out their own results by precincts etc. So then results trickle in bit by bit and not in one aggregate statewide number.

  16. Josie Bean says:

I just watched a portion of what Rudy had to say (couldn’t take any more). What a disgusting man he is. He is an attorney – an unethical one. Basically he is complaining about things (such as ballot postmark dates, who signed it, etc) which relates to all mail-in ballots, even those ballots voting for Trump. Of course Rudy just wants to focus on the Biden ballots and make people think those are fraudulent. Bloody hell, this is really pathetic – I am at a loss for words and so sad that it is coming to this. I really have to wonder if Rudy isn’t in breach of the NY legal profession’s ethical standards.

    • holly hobby says:

As the former US Attorney at the famed District of NYE, it is shameful for him to be spewing this.

  17. EviesMom says:

I’m watching Veep season 5 ep 2 (Ne-VAD-a) as a a way of passing the time… it’s actually eerily correct.

  18. Stacy Dresden says:

Really don’t understand how this isn’t prosecutable as insurrection or treason etc.

  19. Liz version 700 says:

Am I a bad person for immensely enjoying the fact that their motions are being tossed out with accompanying lectures about how poorly done the motions are? I mean with Jared in charge of the legal fight it will undoubtedly every bit as successful as coronavirus response was…

  20. Thirtynine says:

Agree with you all, but sitting here in Australia safe from the virus and guns and madmen, I am so in awe of how brave you all are. With all the expectation and legitimate concerns around militia violence should Trump lose, and these mobs swarming the counting places, so many people still took to the streets to demonstrate and call for every vote to be counted. It was amazing to watch.
