The X File fan in me wants the monolith to be alien related.

  2. Yes says:

I just hope there aren’t a gazillion wanna be alien famous copycats. I HAVE seen alien ships so I’m a believer- maybe that’s why I’m the grinch of metaphysics & rant about fakers.

  3. JanetDR says:

They had it all figured out quickly on reddit. I thought it was a link from here? Maybe not. The cool part is no harm done and i it was a distraction, which I want right now!

    • Yes says:

After the near PTSD re trumpAdmin, just learning to accept distraction. Wheels r back on the bus of democracy!! Here’s my “sighting”: About 10 yrs ago @ 9pm in summer, heard what sounded like an airport in backyardigan suburbs. I went outside & assumed everyone else would as well, as uncharacteristically LOUD. Oddly I was alone. In the sky we’re about 5 glowing circles in a row, what I later heard described as “formation”. I thought I should go inside as I didn’t want to “go for a time warp ride”!

  4. Jules says:

The monolith is most likely from an artist who did the sculpture, I always get deleted when I post links. But the truth is out there and it’s not looking to be alien lol.

    • ME says:

I saw a news story about this yesterday. Google maps shows the monolith has been there for 5 years but was just now discovered by someone. It’s like the artist just waited for someone to discover it and then came and picked it back up. It’s not aliens or anything of the sort.

  5. GuestwithCat says:

I think my hvac guy hauled it away. It looks like part of my furnace.

  6. Alarmjaguar says:

My favorite tweet about the Utah monument was the one from Southwest Airlines – I don’t think I can post the link here, but it was hilarious. I love SWA (Edited for clarity)

  7. Sunnydaze says:

A welcome, fun distraction! May we all be so lucky to have little nuggets like this grace our newsfeed every so often. I need a break from the dismantling of democracy *shrug*

  8. SM says:

That impression of Gillian Anderson as the Iron Lady is spot on. I mean yes, she had some very distinct way of speaking and moving, but Gillian made it into a parody, I could not unsee an actor doing an impersonation rather than inhabiting a character.

  9. Amelie says:

Apparently another monolith was also found in Romania. That one has swirly designs on it so I doubt it’s the same artist. But two witnesses supposedly saw a pickup truck heading away from the Utah monolith shortly before it disappeared. So it doesn’t seem like aliens stole it back lol.

  10. CantTakeHerAnywhere says:

    Wtf with that Lohan video?!?

  11. The Recluse says:

Either it got reclaimed by the artist or someone stole it so they could sell it on eBay later.
Meanwhile, the installation of that thing damaged the ground in that location: public land.

  12. Pinkband says:

I think it was aliens. I’ve read both the credible (Leslie Kean etc) and fanciful researchers (Tsoukalos) and think ETs have been visiting us for thousands of years. And I think the Men in Black took it away for research.

  13. Natters5 says:

The artist is the new Banksy of Land Art. I wish he or she had found a way to not have the screws shown because otherwise people’s brains would be exploding right now thinking it was an alien tower. Aliens don’t have accounts at Ace Hardware. Or do they??

  14. Crumpets and Crotchshots says:

Sigh. It’s an art installation, guys.

  15. Alice says:

While the monolith installation is very interesting and all can someone explain the Lindsay Lohan flatulence tik tok ad? I must be too old to understand what happened here. Was she paid to say those things? If so, why would a celebrity humiliate themself like that? Or am I misunderstanding the whole thing?

  16. Silent Star says:

I’d be more bedazzled by the monolith if it was 50 feet high, but since it is small enough to be carried off by humans and fits in a truck, I’m only mildly curious at best. But sure, thanks to whomever for the wholesome mystery anyway.

  17. phaedra says:

THAT’s where I left my monolith! My bad! Don’t worry, I picked it up.
