Anwar Hadid is anti-Vaxx, says he will refuse to take the Covid vaccine

Anwar Hadid arrives at The Recording Academy And Clive Davis' 2020 Pre-GRAMMY Gala held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 25, 2020 in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California, United States.

I’m legitimately worried that rich people will find ways – or have already found ways – to cut in line for the coronavirus vaccine. There’s already plenty of anecdotal evidence that wealthy people with access to well-connected doctors will find some way to get the vaccine right now. But we also have to remember something else: the deep veins of ignorance and anti-science which pervade wealthy communities and wealthy families. So of course we have to worry about rich anti-Vaxxers refusing to take the vaccine. Enter Anwar Hadid, the younger brother of Gigi and Bella Hadid, and the boyfriend of Dua Lipa. Anwar is an idiot.

Model Anwar Hadid says he “absolutely” won’t get the COVID-19 vaccine — insisting the human body is capable of “way more than we think.” The 21-year-old, who is the brother of models Gigi and Bella Hadid, was asked by an Instagram follower if he’d take the vaccine to which he responded, “Absolutely not,” according to TMZ.

During the same question and answer session, Anwar was then asked by another fan, “Why are you anti vax?”

“Either I just don’t get it or I get it and god willing heal from it and get antibodies rather than do that process unnaturally, our bodies are made by the creator to do way more than we think,” he responded.

Anwar was diagnosed in 2012 with Lyme disease, which could make him high-risk for a poor outcome if he contracts the virus, TMZ reported. Some fans criticized the model’s explanation for why he won’t get the vaccine. “does homeboy not get flu shots? What if he (god forbid) gets cancer? You not gonna help yourself in anyway?” wrote one user.

Yep, he’s an idiot and I hope Dua Lipa dumps him over this. I would absolutely break up with someone if they refused to take a vaccine during a pandemic. I would absolutely dump a guy if he used his platform to spread idiotic anti-Vaxx sh-t. In the specific case of Covid-19… as we have been discussing for NINE MONTHS, if you get the virus once, you are not “immune.” People have been getting it twice! And if you have comorbidities like, say, a compromised immune system from Lyme disease, you’re especially stupid for refusing the vaccine. I wonder if Gigi and Bella will say something publicly about taking the vaccine.

Anwar Hadid and girlfriend/singer Dua Lipa arrive at the 62nd Annual GRAMMY Awards held at Staples Center on January 26, 2020 in Los Angeles, California, United States.

Another idiot! why should anyone value his uninformed opinion? as long as whatever he does ONLY affects his family, I don’t really give a damn

    • AnnaKist says:

Kaiser got it in one: Anwar is an idiot. God, what social media, aided and abetted by pop culture, has done to the brains of so many…

  2. Ariel says:

    No one will miss him

  3. Snuffles says:

He already looks sickly. Dua seems to have terrible taste in men.

  4. DS9 says:

    I’m sorry, I’m dying here.

So dude has Lyme but still thinks his body can ward off COVID?

And what about the 300k that have died so far? Weenies?

    • KhaoManee says:

Yeah, I take the Hadid Lymes claims with an entire shaker of salt. I think they are full of it.

      • Cidee says:

        Agreed. Hadids are fishy.

      • ravynrobyn says:

@ KHAOMANEE-Remember Yolanda Foster is his mom, that hypochondriac con artist & whack job 🙄

      • Wiglet Watcher says:

Yes! Thank you. They have all made claims of illnesses and claims of expensive miracle cures and treatments. A Hollywood mindset to be treated by any exotic medical practitioner as a badge of elitism.

      • A says:

I always thought that Yolanda was one of the women on RH that was more authentic and had integrity. Lyme disease is often misunderstood, and those suffering from it are sometimes accused of being hypochondriacs or faking it. I’m not sure why people wouldn’t have more empathy for someone who is battling an illness.

  5. Cee says:

A friend of my sister’s has gotten COVID three times (she’s a doctor at a children’s hospital where she works in oncological pediatrics) and each time has been worse.
    Why are people so ignorant?
And in what world does he have the face of a model? He makes Brooklyn Beckham look good.

  6. My3cents says:

Privleage talking out of his ass.

  7. ce says:

And I will continue to refuse to give a sh*t about the most useless Hadid. Win-win!

  8. Atti says:

He’s too rich to need sense I guess.

  9. EM says:

    “Model” Anwar Hadid = whatever.

I think his attitude towards vaccination comes from Yolanda. I’m sure she’s said that crystals can cure cancer & he’s basically repeating a variance of that.

  10. Lizzie says:

Well he does have a medical degree so maybe he is onto something, just kidding I’m not sure he even graduated from high school. Yolanda was big on education until Gigi started making big bucks modeling then suddenly all of her kids were in NY and modeling.

  11. Cafecito says:

I was asked yesterday if I planned to get vaccinated, I’m 37 yo. I said “of course”, I got the “my friend is the wife of the director of a laboratory (who knows what type of lab), she says that if you are not old, you should not take it. The vaccine has way more risks”.

    ….
    Why are people like this?!

    • Lizzie says:

I’m going to get it as soon as I can. As far as I am concerned I just move up the line faster.
Until November I worked in a US Pharma manufacture and that is not the same thing as working in a lab. Because of terrible past mistakes the FDA keep a close watch on every aspect including documenting every single step of manufacturing each batch. Batches cannot be released until all testing is completed. PPE is worn and worn correctly during manufacturing. Outside vendors are properly researched. IT software is validated. There are strict and costly repercussions when the rules are not followed.

    • Chaine says:

Ridiculous and infuriating. Well, my friend is an ER doctor and she posted video of herself getting her vaccine on social media and crying for joy, so hopefully people like her will outweigh the stupid ones.

    • MyOpinion says:

@ Cafecito, shouldn’t we just ship all of these idiots, anti-vaxers to the Moon and dump them there? Why should WE have live amongst them? I would recommend Alcatraz, but it’s too small to hold ALL of these idiots!
I am stunned it’s only been 4 years as it doesn’t seem that long ago. But to then lose Debbie with in a week (?) was shocking. 😢

  12. Rapunzel says:

Covid-19 pro-tip: if you have thoughts about the Coronavirus and are wondering if you should utter them, ask yourself: can I say this to the face of a person who lost a loved one to Covid… without getting smacked by said person? If the answer is no…keep your mouth shut.

“It’s really just like flu… only people with preexisting conditions die” SMACK!
“Masks are just a form of control and I won’t be a sheep!” SMACK!
“I would rather face the virus than the vaccine. It’s microchipping us” SMACK! SMACK!
“Open everything, I won’t live in fear!” SMACK! SMACK!
“I’m not giving up my normal Christmas party!” SMACK! SMACK!
“I trust God to protect me…I don’t need social distancing” SMACK! SMACK! SMACK!
“It’s all a manufactured plot to destroy Trump and promote globalism.” SMACK! SMACK! SMACK! SMACK!

This has been your helpful psa on how not to sound like a selfish, ignorant, tactless a-hole… because some people have no idea how they sound.

  13. minx says:

    Fine, bye.

  14. Rapunzel says:

What’s hilarious is this moron also does not realize that airlines, travel companies, and many other countries are going to require vaccination. He’ll change his tune once he can’t jet off for vacation without this shot.

    • KhaoManee says:

Nah, he’s rich and the rich always find way around the rules.

      • Rapunzel says:

Eh, IDK, I think this pandemic is killing global economy and countries and big businesses are gonna want to avoid showing favoritism.

    • Dani says:

I don’t think it’ll end up happening. Most places will just require a covid test negative within the last 48-72 hours. The vaccine isn’t recommended for anyone under 16 (or 18, not sure), so what happens to all of those who will be flying or going to venues etc? Ticketmaster tried to roll that out but eventually made it either a vaccine or negative test.

  15. KhaoManee says:

Dua Lipa is dating this thing? I meam, I don’t like her music but she is absolutely gorgeous! This kid is fug and STUPID. I want to punch the smug look off his face.

  16. HeatherC says:

It’s idiots like this that make my work so much harder.

  17. Hellohello says:

I don’t agree with his logic at all and think he is wrong. However, and I’m sure this will be an unpopular opinion, as someone with Lyme disease, the decision to take a new vaccine is actually incredibly complex. Since our immune systems are already on overload, taking a new vaccine that has not been around long enough to study long-term outcomes of taking it and has not been tested specifically on people with chronic health issues, there are considerations to make in consultation with your physician. I have already talked at length with my doc about it and have decided that I will not be one of the first to rush to get it. I’m lucky enough that I can continue to distance from others and work from home. I’m not saying I won’t get the vaccine, but it is new, it was emergency authorized, and there are many unknowns about the effects on those of us with compromised immunity.

Vaccination decision-making is more complex for some of us than it is for others. There are very real considerations that are worth noting. I’m not defending anti-vaxxers, as I think that any black and white stance is problematic. No medical decision is risk-free, and for those of us who have lost years of our lives and thousands of dollars to ill health, decisions may be more complex than they are for others who have not experienced these kinds of challenges.

    • Lizzie says:

I agree with you. I don’t know what doctors are saying about this.

      • paranormalgirl says:

I’m a doctor. I am saying that anyone who CAN get the vaccine SHOULD get the vaccine. That being said, yes, hellohello is wise to wait on the vaccine due to an illness that has undoubtedly NOT been studied in depth. Not everyone can or should be vaccinated due to health conditions, which is why it is important that people who are able to get vaccinated do so. We have an obligation to get vaccinated to protect those who cannot. If I was hello’s doctor, I would tell them to hold off and wait as long as you can, until we see more data on the effects of the vaccine on people with immune systems that might not tolerate the vaccine well.

I turned down the first wave of vaccinations for medical providers because I am currently doing tele-med and thus am not in contact with patients physically. I will take it with the next wave of medical providers, though, since I am heading to the Bahamas to work in a clinic there (giving up my psych practice to do family medicine – finally using my second residency!)

      • Hotsauceinmybag says:

Thanks for all that you’re doing @paranormalgirl!!

    • Noodle says:

@hellohello, I agree with your assessment of having to deeply consider vaccinating due to your presence-existing condition. I am of the kind that there are some people who shouldn’t be vaccinated, and they benefit from herd immunity when the non-immune-compromised or those without pre-existing conditions are vaccinated. Your reasoning is solid here.

The issue is that he is not articulating this viewpoint. He comes across as just anti-Vaxx, without your thoughtfulness or support. I doubt he has even been confronted with the complexity of pre-existing conditions and the vaccine, apart from just having the privilege of not having to take it.

    • Becks1 says:

I think that is a reasonable position – to be wary of the vaccine when you have underlying health issues. and that’s true for any vaccine. But that’s why its so important for everyone who CAN get vaccinated, to do so. (whether its this vaccine or MMR, flu vaccine, whatever.) It’s two different things to say “I’m uncomfortable with this vaccine because I have Lyme disease and have talked about it with my doctor” than to say “I’m not taking this vaccine and no one can make me.”

  18. Honora says:

People who normally are pro vaccine are kind of worried about how fast this was. At least that’s what I’ve encountered in my circles. It’s made me a a little wary to hear others worry but I’ve had so many vaccine shots without issue so overall I’d probably get it ASAP

    • Rapunzel says:

I felt this way at first, but if you do your research, there’s pretty good reasons why this was faster vaccine creation than normal, and it isn’t that concerning.

Honestly, I don’t get being all, “we don’t know the long term effects of the vaccine.” We don’t know the long term effects of COVID-19 either.

What’s smarter: facing unknown long term effects of this disease you can catch again and again? Or facing the unknown long term effects of a vaccine that should keep you from getting sick with this disease? I’ll take my chances with the vaccine, thank you. It hasn’t killed anyone.

    • Redder says:

People who are worried about fast this was made have not listened to experts or read anything of value regarding the process. Please educate yourself (not directed at you Honora) if you have “concerns”.

    • Lizzie says:

My understanding is it was quick because they did as many steps as possible concurrently.
I suspect having the whole world working on it helped.

      • Trillion says:

The vaccine was available so quickly because of Donald Trump, the hero and artist of the deal, made sure it happened under his watch. (puke)

    • Jordana says:

It’s only “fast” if someone doesn’t consider the decades of research and work that has been done with Mrna. The science didn’t just happen in the past 12 months.

  19. Barbara says:

    Jeez, ugly AND stupid

    • shanaynay says:

      Very bad combo

      • Still_Sarah says:

@ vs : I googled “Anwar Hadid education” and it brought up Malibu High School, nothing else. So, yes, his uninformed opinion is indeed very uniformed. What a pompous twit.

  20. Bettyrose says:

The point of us all getting it is to achieve herd immunity, which in turn protects those who absolutely cannot be safely vaccinated. Let’s not talk about this like personal choice. The default is you get it. If your medical team determines it’s not safe for you, that’s a private matter. No one at this stage needs to be publicly announcing that they don’t intend to be vaccinated.

  21. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

Lmao at his future. These people have no idea how what they say and do now affects their futures in a variety of ways. They deserve what’s coming.

  22. Lucy says:

I never liked his face and now I know why. What a d*ckhead.

  23. Justme says:

Part of me (a nasty part I admit) hope that he will get a very mild case of Covid, lose his sense of taste and smell (anosmia) and then develop parosmia (as some folks I know have). This is a side effect where EVERYTHING smells horrible, like rotting garbage and bleach and eating anything becomes disgusting. It can go on for months (some people have had it since March). Some get better after a few weeks, but others have no idea when they will recover. And many had very mild Covid. By the way, people tend to lose weight with this because they cannot stand to eat anything and this guy doesn’t look as though he’d survive that very well.

  24. Rae says:

I usually try and not be judgemental, but he LOOKS just as much of a privileged asshole as he sounds too.

I’m absolutely side eyeing Dua for dating this rich trash.

  25. NotSoSocialButterfly says:

    Serious d-bag energy.

  26. Lanie says:

I’m not surprised. Yolanda is big into medical woo and has claimed that she and all her kids have “chronic Lyme.”

To be rich and empty inside…

  27. one of the Marys says:

He’s a model?!? He’s very unpleasant looking wow. Dua Lipa in the picture shown looks like a mannequin, over made up and empty.

  28. mish-mash says:

Geez where did that nose come from ?

    • GuestwithCat says:

Actually, his nose is the only aspect of him that is interesting. If his sisters had this nose, it’s a shame our limiting standards of beauty compelled them to change it for an off-the-shelf nose. I think it’s part of his heritage and keeps the rest of his face in context.

I always despair when people with distinctive ethnic features obliterate them to conform to a standard of beauty that favors Caucasian features as the ideal.

      • ME says:

Yeah just like Kim Kardashian completely removed every part of her Armenian heritage from her face. Her original features were stunning ! I loved her Armenian nose.

  29. Oy_Hey says:

Least interesting nepotism model in family of nepotism models says dumb words.

Like…all he did was justify how he became his family’s Rob Kardashian. I just hope the other two, Dua Lipa and Zayn don’t agree.

  30. gemcat says:

How does Lyme disease make him high-risk, I get that your immune system is weakened ..but still? But yeah anyways, what a twat..

  31. GuestwithCat says:

Getting vaccinations are a medical decision one makes with a trusted medical professional. We all have different bodies and health concerns. There is no hope or help for the people who would let a celebrity tweet guide their decision making on this matter. And since medical decisions are generally personal business, he really should keep his decision private, except in situations in which he is required to disclose information by law.

  32. Holly hobby says:

Who the heck is he and why does his opinion matter? He can skip it and the rest of us can have it. I wish they would set up an island for the anti vax covid spreaders aka leper islands.

  33. paranormalgirl says:

Why does he look like a Dickensian chimney sweep with consumption?

  34. khaveman says:

Aaaand that is why the rest of us are getting vaccinated. Let’s hope it protects us from tools like this.

  35. Christina says:

I had Covid and I am indeed immune. I got tested and I have the antibodies and plenty of them. Enough to be immune. The vast majority of people who have healed from Covid are immune. Sure, those antibodies can and will be gone in 3, 6, or 12 months, but right now, I and millions of others are immune. And I have to say, it’s one hell of a feeling. And after I lose my immunity, I can get it again. People have gotten Covid twice, but so very few people, simply because the virus is barely one year old. I have a friend who lost her immunity after three months and found out when she went to donate plasma for the third time. The third month they told her to stop coming in, because they couldn’t detect the antibodies.

    • Dani says:

The ‘immunity’ has something to do with T cells and how much of them a person has. I was informed of this by a mom friend who is a doctor. I have covid in March and as of November still have a higher than average count of antibodies and that has to do with how my body formulates? T cells. I’m not totally sure about it but you should ask your doctor – mine are shown in my most recent blood work.

  36. Dl says:

I have never even heard of this pissant before but someone should shove him back under his rock

  37. Justwastingtime says:

Unkind but true..he really needs to consider another career. He has a radio face.

  38. K.T says:

I might feel like I’m being wrong-headed or mean but the Hadid various illnesses & the way they talk about health and long-running problems, I’m get red flags vibes?! I vaguely remember a storyline on the real housewives show where a castmate says ex-Hadid husband/father didn’t agree with the diagnosis? But then he came out later to say he supported the kids with whatever… except he will kept their privacy. I wonder if Anwar’s anti-vaccine stance is just a small part of all their weird, self-regarding behaviour.

  39. Dunnoboutthat says:

That kid is a model? Are there no attractive men around anymore?

  40. AB says:

He has a Poe-esque sickliness about him.

  41. Rose says:

    Fine. Die.

I’ve already started a mental list of every contact on my social media sharing their indoor party and holiday pictures without a mask in sight so I know whose GoFundMes to NOT donate to once they get sick.

  42. shanaynay says:

Good. Then we should hope to not see you on the line once the vaccine is open to us all! Peace!!
