Duchess Kate will probably spend her 39th b-day in lockdown with her kids

Duchess of Cambridge social media Q&A

Did you know that the Duchess of Cambridge’s 39th birthday is coming up on Saturday? Kate is about six months older than Prince William, who will turn 39 in June. Their last year in their 30s. I won’t make fun of them if they have issues with that – your late 30s are a bitch, and when you’re staring down the barrel of your 40th birthday, most people have some angst and tears. No one knows how Kate will celebrate her birthday and that’s not specific to this year. She usually keeps her birthday plans pretty quiet, and I’m not even sure she gets a big party or anything. This year, Kate and the kids will likely be in lockdown in Norfolk, at Anmer Hall. That’s where they spent the holidays, and there’s no reason for them to go back to London, especially considering that George and Charlotte’s school has been closed again in the national lockdown:

Prince George and Princess Charlotte won’t be heading back to class just yet. Over the weekend, London Mayor Sadiq Khan announced that primary schools in the city will remain closed after the holiday break due to the number of coronavirus cases in the capital. That includes Thomas’s Battersea, the $23,000-per-year private school that George, 7, has attended since 2017 and where Charlotte, 5, started in 2019.

The closure also means that it’s highly unlikely that 2-year-old Prince Louis will start nursery school this week. Prince George and Princess Charlotte both started nursery school when they were 2 in the month of January. Prince William and Kate Middleton have not announced any news regarding their youngest child beginning school.

[From People]

Yeah, there was some thought that Louis would start nursery school in Norfolk, not London, but people think Kate will probably just keep all three kids home for the time being. Something I’ve been thinking about is whether we’ll find out when the Cambridge family got their coronavirus vaccines. I’m expecting the Palace to confirm when the Queen has been vaccinated – although who knows with that petty, tone-deaf B – but will Kensington Palace confirm when William and Kate get the vaccine? Hm.

Oh, one thing I am expecting for Kate’s birthday is a new portrait. I wonder what kind of Woman of the Woods country-girl cosplay we’ll get this year. Kate lounging on a tree stump? Kate chewing on some hay? Kate getting muddy in a barn? We’ll see!

Lol with the way they’ve been treating the pandemic with their train tours and mask less visits, I wouldn’t be surprised if she had a party Kendall Jenner style with signs everywhere “don’t post on social media”.

  2. Aurora says:

I think they are secretly on holiday in their usual warm getaway. I can’t see them adhering to any lockdown rules like the peasants are being forced to do.

  3. Becks1 says:

I think they are definitely on vacation somewhere warm and I think that’s what they usually do, and its why they don’t do anything big for Kate’s birthday – they already celebrated in Mustique or wherever.

but they should spend it in lockdown, isn’t all of England back into a national lockdown?

    • Rapunzel says:

If they’re on vacation, I hope they get caught.

    • Nic919 says:

With no obligatory Christmas walk you can guarantee they went to Mustique undercover. If not that then a ski resort. At least this year we won’t see the pathetic church walk on her birthday which last year included Rose.

Check for tans when the next zoom appearance happens.

    • Maevo says:

I think they’re on vacation too! If they had spent Christmas at Anmer wouldn’t we be getting some sugary People mag story about how normal their Christmas was with the kids opening presents etc etc blah blah blah???

    • Sofia says:

Wouldn’t surprise me. Even if they get caught, RRs will defend them anyways. They could murder someone’s grandma on live TV and those reporters will go “it wasn’t my grandma so who cares?” and “she’s old so she was going to die anyways”

    • notasugarhere says:

Quick. Someone check the status on the Duke of Westminster’s private jet, their fav way of sneaking out of the UK.

  4. sara says:

are they supposed to get a prize for staying in the country and not going to Mustique mid-lockdown? they just led a corona tour across the country! basically encouraging travel and basically only partial mask use. smh

  5. Jumpingthesnark says:

That photo….. I see Kate and her cheek implants…..

    • HeatherC says:

      She looks sedated

    • notasugarhere says:

Still wearing the blouse backwards too.

      • BeanieBean says:

Yep, noticed that, too. It’s really not that hard getting into & out of a blouse that buttons up the back, but I’m willing to bet that’s why Kate wears it the wrong way round, she couldn’t manage it.

    • Kalana says:

Yes! She got cheek implants, right? I noticed them when she wore that long red prairie style dress. I thought originally they were fillers that hadn’t settled but in the appearance she did in the pink M&S blazer you can see the outline of her face has changed. She has this hard molded plasticky look.

They make her look like a Spitting Image puppet. It’s too much.

    • booboocita says:

Oh, good … I thought my surprise was just me. There’s something off about her face in that header photo, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. She looks like a woman who bears a strong resemblance to Kate Middleton.

    • BeanieBean says:

I was just thinking, she has such a large face! Probably down to whatever work she did to her cheeks.

      • ML says:

You think it’s cheek implants? I’m no expert but everything looks so tight I thought it was a facelift. Looks all around right as opposed to spot botoxed.

    • Kaykay says:

All I see is a lot of botox. She used to have fine lines running across her forehead, also between here eyebrows. Now – nothing. I don’t think she has cheek implants. She’s always had full apple cheeks. Maybe fillers, but I seriously doubt implants.

  6. Shoo fly says:

Remember that this is the couple that the press now hails as some paradigm of working with the press and being available to the British people. The one that has never revealed birthday celebrations plans and wouldn’t tell the press their late dog’s name.

  7. Amy Bee says:

Ok, People Mag thanks for the update. I mean what else is she going to do.

  8. Sequinedheart says:

CAROLE: “But sweetie, darling, it’s your special daaaaay! Let mummy plan a party & we’ll have pieces & pippa tips & it doesn’t matter because lockdowns don’t apply to future queens! Now, leave the brats with nanny Maria.”

  9. Maliksmama says:

They’re on another extended vacay. As usual.

They get paid millions of my tax dollars to basically smile and wave, but Willie and Kate can’t be bothered to do that. I mean they have two massive estates (with enough staff to run them), multiple vehicles, a helicopter, enough food and clothing for a family of five and do absolutely nothing to justify their expense.

I’d be pissed if I were a Brit.

    • Keen Kate says:

I’m a British taxpayer and I don’t want to see them. We don’t need her gurning and William trying to come across as normal Bill. Stay home. You are both useless. Let them look lazy compared to their 70-94 year old peers.

  10. notasugarhere says:

@Kaiser, we might see a formal birthday portrait of Kate in Diana’s hated tiara, complete with Kate’s sad Tuvalu ribbon and the Putting Up with Hubby’s Cheating Participation pin.

    • Sofia says:

I think they might not do that for her birthday but instead do it for their 10th year anniversary.

      • Becks1 says:

I think we will definitely get an official portrait of the two of them next year, in full regalia (i.e. all of William’s medals and a formal uniform, Kate in a new, very expensive dress with her tiara and ribbon and participation pin) for their 40th bdays plus 10th anniversary.

      • Harper says:

Yes, a portrait just like the Duke and Duchess of Hastings posed for in Bridgerton. I’m sure Kate binged it on her laptop over the holidays and has already rung up the royal oil painter and royal seamstress so she can now cosplay Daphne Bridgerton. Meghan hasn’t been showing up of late and Kate needs a new focus.

      • Becks1 says:

@Harper please report to the Bridgerton post, LOL.

If Kate shows up at the next formal event in a regency style dress I will DIE. DIE.

      • Nic919 says:

Placing money now on Kate visiting the Bridgerton set when they film the second season. And she will stay for hours like she did for Downton Abbey.

      • BayTampaBay says:

@Becks1 – Have you made out your will? Do you have pre-paid funeral arrangements? Are your fellow CBers invited to the wake?

None of us want to see you go before your time and all of us will most assuredly miss your wonderful post but with “If Kate shows up at the next formal event in a regency style dress I will DIE. DIE” you need to get ready and be prepared.

      • Becks1 says:

@bay see this is why I love you. You are so practical! I am going to prepare now LOLOLOL.

@Nic I wont take that bet because you are definitely right. She is going to definitely visit. Bet she wont visit the set of the Crown though LOLOLOL.,

  11. Gail says:

I have a question? Does the public also pay the school fees for the royals children? I mean like willy and waity kids ? Or does Charlie cover that?I can’t see William parting with that kind of money . And if they are on vacation , that’s great . Maybe they can stay there all year. It’s not like they bloody work when they are in the uk anyway. And I bet all the royals already had they vaccines because Petty and her heirs are special and important to all of us peasants

    • Ainsley7 says:

The public doesn’t directly pay for the Cambridges at all. Most of their expenses are covered by Charles. They might pay for the kids schooling, but I doubt it. It’s more likely that Charles pays for that as well. Charles does actually pay some taxes and this would probably come from that money.

  12. Mignionette says:

I am surprised Kitty didn’t get her lock-down baby as her reward for staying dutiful. Especially as another Cambridge would push Harry further down the line of ‘relevance’.

    • Keen Kate says:

William is done, she was lucky to have lovely Louis.

    • February-Pisces says:

I think kate is desperate for baby no.4 , but she’ll have to catch Willie first.

    • Nic919 says:

I did think for a while she would have a fourth one within the two year spacing they have for the others, but since the rose affair happened while she was pregnant with Louis, perhaps that wasn’t an exchange she wanted. I suspect the RVO was the reward for the embarrassment and shopping to her hearts content.

  13. Keen Kate says:

She’ll be exercising, avoiding cake, watching makeup videos and buying sister wife dresses with Charles’ credit card.

The children will present her with a beautiful handmade card (totally not nanny Maria’s work) and William will hand her a bouquet of fresh cut roses.

  14. Amelie says:

I don’t know if they’ll be getting their vaccines soon, but Queen Margrethe of Denmark got her first dose of the vaccine yesterday. She is apparently the first European royal to get one (or at least acknowledge she got one). So I wouldn’t be surprised if Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip aren’t far behind and that we’ll get an announcement either this week or in a few weeks.

I do wonder what kind of birthday portrait we’ll get. I wonder if it’ll be just a picture from one of her Zoom calls repurposed on social media.

    • Keen Kate says:

I’m an English nurse and loads of our patients and my elderly mother have had the vaccine… so Queenie and Philip have definitely had it!

  15. LittlePenguin says:

She’s just like the the middle class! Kate celebrated her birthday with just her immediate family. They had a special dinner with chutney and a cake she baked from scratch herself! Gifts were all homemade by the kids.
It is already sitting in a draft folder at the Daily Fail.

Kannot and Willnot got married a few months before I did. With Easter at the start of April this year and their 10th anniversary at the end of the month, I think we will see a portrait then.

  16. Well, whatever she does it can’t beat last year’s pap stroll with William, the Middletons, and the Cholomondys. I loved that one on her “birthday weekend. They all looked so loving and cozy together, with a “nothing to see here” look on every face.

  17. Moxylady says:

Everyone turning 39 this past year or hopefully just in the first half of this year should spend it alone, or quarantined with their close family. Everyone. Wah cry me a River you worthless cretin.

  18. Lizzie says:

Everyday of this pandemic is someone’s birthday, most of us are are spending them at home. What a non-story. But I guess People has contracted to print something about Keen and there is nothing at all that would be of interest. It’s almost unbelievable how little she does with the access and opportunities open to her.

  19. Digital Unicorn says:

I agree with everyone else that they are on a sunny luxury vacation – i hope they are exposed. It is something they would sooooooo do.

  20. Tessa says:

I think they went on vacation to Mustique or some expensive island resort.

  21. Carolind says:

They are not at any sunny resort. They wouldn’t dare. They are at home in Norfolk with the kids being/about to be home schooled again.

William and Kate will not get the vaccine for months. Amid the usual delays the vaccine in Britain is solely in the hands of the NHS – no-one private – and being done in a strict rota of most vulnerable first. The Queen and Duke might not have had it. Care homes first.
