I hope MTG an JJ were two of the seditionists taking the insurrectionists on recon tours of the Capitol

  2. Michael says:

It feels a little rigged that this song came out of nowhere to be so big. I have heard some payola rumors and whispers but who knows. The music business has always been a dirty game with the politics and the payoffs, I do imagine the song has a strong teen angst appeal though

    • Filmie says:

There are a hundred or services that pump plays into your song for a cool $500 – 25k depends on how much money you’re willing to spend. That’s the only reason this so g got these streams. As a professional songwriter I can tell you that if this song was released without a PR machine and serious cash behind it it would get 75 streams it’s first day less or more depending on who listens to her. This is a classic rig and the fact that pr companies are sending our press releases about it to different celeb gossip blogs is basically reconfirming it. It’s a shame what the music industry has turned into . All about money , if you dont have it no one hears you.

    • Case says:

Well, she has a built in audience as an actress already, and I imagine a strong Gen Z following. If she was a nobody before this I’d agree, but I’m sure she has a good PR team and has been hyping this to her fans pre-release.

  3. Chelsey says:

Lol but it’s not even a great song? Her voice is just average? Fishy.

  4. jaylee says:

My daughter is 12 & living for this song & all the drama. I think a million of those streams are hers.

    • Alarmjaguar says:

Just listened and am laughing because teenage me would have loved this song and had it on repeat for sure.

    • halfpint says:

My 12 year old is right there with yours! Every time I go into her room she is listening to it! LOL

  5. Scotchy says:

Payola is alive and well and Spotify/Apple/Pandora have all kinds of deals in play with various labels/publishing companies etc so yeah if you have the dollars and connections your mediocre song can also be a huge hit.. siiggghhh

  6. Dria says:

I think it’s hilarious people are shocked that this song is a big hit. It sounds like Taylor Swift and Lorde – two of the biggest female singers in the world. Add in Disney love triangle drama, plus TikTok, you’ve got yourself a hit. I think for a 17 year old to write that by herself, it’s pretty catchy! I would be crying in my bedroom to it if I was a teenager.

  7. Becks1 says:

I have never heard of this singer or this song. I feel so behind, lol.

  8. Klassi says:

She needs to back and get tested for her drivers license again.

She’s driving in the middle of the road in half of those clips lol

  9. Klassi says:

@Becks1…same here with me, and I’m usually pretty up to date with pop culture. So this feels a little out of left field overnight with her random “success.”

I’m not going to lie though, I did enjoy that song, even though im like twice her age. I’m recently divorced, and my now ex husband and I (during happier times), liked to go on drives together. Angst doesn’t always discriminate against age.

She reminds me of a blend of Lorde and Billie Eilish.

  10. Libby says:

Anyone think the song sucks? Just me? Maybe I’m showing my age *cough* 32 *cough*

  11. LBB says:

My two daughters age 13 and 16 both sent it to me to listen to, it’s all the rage.

  12. Minorbird says:

This reminds me of sitting in my room as a teen, crying about a break up.

nahhh, I am beyond this at 40. Its cute but not for me.

  13. Darla says:

I just heard this song today, how weird! My 19 yo nephew played it for me, he inadvertently got into a love triangle. And one of the girls sent this song to him. And it’s so funny because he really likes her, and he really did inadvertently hurt her, he didn’t know she liked him. I had to listen to this long story, complete with a soundtrack! He literally sat there and forced me to listen to this song.

So I said, look, this to me sounds a lot like the whole triangle sitch on Folklore and I recommend you send her a link to Betty and I think that is gonna solve this problem. He made me play him the song. You should have seen his surprise that his old auntie would know a song that fit his situation! Anyway, I think I saved the day. Or, Taylor did.

    • Abby says:

Lol Darla this is the story I needed this morning. 😆

I was all about angsty pop songs as a teen. All the feels. Hanging by a moment? Crazy for this girl? Sad Avril Lavigne songs?

I felt really old that I didn’t know what was happening with this situation, but now I’m caught up.

  14. Jessie says:

I’d love to see what she comes up with as valid impeachment articles before he’s even been on the job. These guys are exhausting

    • SomeChick says:

Yeah, that is not how impeachment even works. She’s showing her ignorance. No one will vote for it, if she even actually tries it. Could just be talk.

  15. Veronica S. says:

The song is nothing special (it’s not terrible, either, mind), but I’m not surprised it’s popular given how “folklore” and “evermore” did this year, along with Billie Eilish being a big emerging name in the last year. That kind of thready female vocalist sound is in right now.

Greene is a jackass. She’s so obviously trying to make a name for herself among the MAGA leftovers. Imagine wanting to be next in line for Donald Trump’s sloppy seconds that badly.

  16. Jessie says:

I listen to top 100 played pop on Amazon music all the time and this song was #1 out of literally nowhere and it’s so blah. I was very confused.

  17. Boxy Lady says:

It sounds like one of those songs that you love at first, and then it’s played ad nauseum on TV shows, commercials, and in movies, and then you hate it.

  18. Rachum says:

13year old me would be living for this song. I get why the young ‘uns like it! The video is cute and feels age appropriate too.

  19. kimberlu says:

still haven’t heard the song….gonna see how long I can go without listening

  20. Heather H says:

The song is fine but it seems like so much already out there. I am a little tired of this type of affected vocal. Agree with others it seems targeted to the young set and all the angst they have.
