Donald Trump spent his first post-presidency weekend raging about Dr. Fauci

President Donald Trump and Melania Trump arrive on Airforce One at Palm Beach International Airport

How did everyone spend their first weekend of the Biden era? Out of habit, I was checking Twitter throughout the weekend and I came to sudden realization: oh, right, we don’t have to spend every Sunday with a doomscrolling knot in our stomach about whatever Donald Trump is up to anymore. President Biden spent his Sunday morning at church and then he and his team kept on working. Meanwhile, Donald Trump spent his first post-presidency weekend stewing in his own juices at Mar-a-Lago, getting mad about Dr. Anthony Fauci. Fauci, as we discussed, has been enjoying himself in press briefings and interviews. And nothing makes Trump madder than… a doctor being happy, or something.

Trump watched Fauci’s first briefing of the Biden administration: Trump “reacted in a fit of grievance, self-obsession, TV hate-watching that largely defined his presidency and now-defunct policy-making operations. Fauci’s re-emergence on prime-time television during the Biden era infuriated the exiled Trump, who began whining about how “incompetent” the doctor was, and how he probably should have fired Fauci when he had the chance, a source close to the former president and another individual familiar with the matter tell The Daily Beast. (Technically, Trump did not have the power to fire Fauci, a career federal employee.)

Trump doesn’t have Twitter either: On top of everything else that was stripped from him, he’s lost his primary emotional release valve, thanks to his post-Capitol riot banning from Twitter, just as his enemies—real and perceived—keep dancing atop his administration’s freshly dug grave. And it’s not just Fauci. Trump has also griped this weekend about not being able to tweet about the Biden team telling journalists that Trump and ex-officials had left them with a gigantic COVID mess to mop up, according to a person with direct knowledge of his recent ramblings. “He very much feels that a lot of people are working to downgrade his legacy out of hatred for him,” this source said.

[From The Daily Beast]

Trump *did* leave the Biden administration with a gigantic Covid mess. We knew it in real time, as Trump spent the entire transition spreading bonkers conspiracies about the election and sending Rudy Giuliani on the Angry Fart Tour and… going golfing. Trump completely abdicated his job responsibilities more than ever once he realized he lost. And not only that, he refused to engage with the Biden transition on the pandemic, a fact which is criminally negligent, and killed more people than the Capitol insurrection which Trump incited. Anyway, the f–king loser spent the weekend whining and wishing he could tweet. Makes sense.

Also, it seems like there’s been a mass exodus of Mar-a-Lago members. There are complaints about the food and sad atmosphere of treason and diaper changes. Plus, someone hired a plane to fly over the club with banners reading “Worst President Ever” and “Go Back to Moscow” and “Trump You Pathetic Loser.”

He deserves all this is so much more. Real justice would be him rotting in a prison cell for the rest of his miserable life but I’m not that optimistic.

    • Noodle says:

I think SDNY is coming soon for tax evasion and fraud. It’s not the charges we want or he deserves, but if it takes him down, more power to powerhouse Letitia Wright.

      • elfie says:

I hope so, very very very much. He and his scumbag offspring all need to face charges.

      • Sparky says:

Sorry but the attorney part of my brain insists on clarifying——- Letitia James is the attorney general of NY State. I.e., her cases are heard in state courts. SDNY (Southern District of NY) is part of the US District Court system. That said, given that Trump did not pardon himself he’s fully open to both state and federal court jurisdiction! So yeah, bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Mignionette says:

I agree it would be a poor second but politically it’s the smart move to indict him at the State level for crimes not relating to his tenure in office.

That way the MAGAT’s don’t their martyr and he’ll be consigned to being just another has been.

Also whilst he’s locked up he can’t continue to do damage politically and will be barred from future office.

      • schmootc says:

The Supreme Court just gave him a pass on emoluments though, so I’m not hopeful about anything actually sticking with those new clowns on the court. It is completely infuriating.

      • Noodle says:

@sparky, thank you for correcting me. You are 100% right; I Monday-brained for a moment and used the wrong last name.

  2. sa says:

People are leaving Mar-a-Lago now, but they were happy to give him their money and hope for a photo op with him while it gave them proximity to power. The Trump stink doesn’t wash off that easily.

    • Darla says:

Right?? I read that article over the weekend and it made me SICK. YOu think because you used him and kissed his ass while he was locking babies in cages and killing Americans with his lack of Covid response, and you run away from once he no longer has that power, that makes you OKAY? NO

  3. Golly Gee says:

” A lot of people are working to downgrade his legacy” BAHAHAHAHA! How much lower would you have to go to downgrade it?

The banners flying over Mar-a-Lago ! Who was the honorable citizen who did this? I want to send flowers.

  4. Mac says:

There is no one Trump gaslighted more than himself.

    • Esmom says:

I was thinking about that a lot this weekend. He pissed away so much potential future goodwill at every single turn, up to the very end. Imagine if he had somehow been even semi-gracious in defeat. Instead he will never get out from under this toxic cloud of hate and lies and stupidity he so shortsightedly created.

  5. KBeth says:

    He’s pathetic.

  6. Liz version 700 says:

I read (though haven’t triple confirmed) that groups have rented planes to fly mean messages over his golf course lol. But of course he is raging at Fauci. Dr. Fauci is the only person he couldn’t crush under the Everything Trump Touches Dies curse. Technically our country survived too. However, we are in intensive care recovering. I heard he is compiling and enemies list of GOP to primary for not being loyal enough. All that fawning and he is turning on them anyway as we always knew he would.

    • JaneEyreApparent says:

The last time I was in Scotland, people were putting little Mexican flags on his golf resorts there. Scots can be so brutal. (and I love them)

  7. Golly Gee says:

Also from the daily beast: “The former president would also launch into tirades about how he’d made Dr. Fauci a “star” who, supposedly, would be a nobody without Trump.”
    I mean… Wow.

  8. STRIPE says:

I hope Mar A Lago is overrun by MAGAs. People who Trump hates but that love him. Nothing would make me happier than him in a sad, rundown palace prison of his own making (both in Mar a Lago and online)

Jimmy Kimmel just gave an interview with Bill Simmons and talked about how sad Mar a Lago actually is. It was nice to hear ha!

    • MM2 says:

Lol, I second this. I loved when the GOP had to recently meet their base: “Those crazies don’t look like Trump supporters!!!”

Let them all get the memo to leave their basements, part the freeways & make the pilgrimage to Mar-a-Lago.

    • lanne says:

Apparently a lot of them are moving to Florida to be near him. Serves him right! He absolutely despises the people who love him. They are “low class” and he wants to hang out with stars. I’m sure he’ll be angry to his last day that being President didn’t give him access to the A list. Once he really sees the people who love him–not from view of a stage, but face to face, he will be truly horrified. I hope he’s stupid enough to start disparaging them and talking about how much they embarrass him. That’s the only way to break the spell he has over them–for him to completely turn on them so that they can see how much he hates them.

  9. GuestwithCat says:

I’ll muster up some pity for him when he musters genuine empathy for the people who died of Covid and from his attempt at a coup. When he contemplates the life’s he’s ruined and the families he’s torn apart and weeps with remorse.

Until that moment of epiphany comes for him, I will smile when Fauci smiles on tv, knowing it eats Cheetolini alive.

For the record, I’m not anticipating in the least that Trump will ever have such an epiphany. I believe Mary Trump’s assessment that he’s not capable of such a thing.

    • Josie Bean says:

Of course Trump did not care if people died from COVID – he had to continue to downplay the virus because he is in the hospitality business and COVID is killing hospitality.

      • ravynrobyn says:

@ JODIE BEAN-I GASPED when I read your comment! OMG-peoples’ LIVES are just a f***king GAME to him.

        Killing hospitality my ass 🤬

  10. MM2 says:

I read the headline in my head as rage tweeting, suddenly remembered his ban and felt a huge wave of relief. Let him scream into the empty halls of Mar-a-Lago.
Fauci & Rachel Maddow smiling at each other was a heartwarming moment….together at last 😉

  11. Miranda says:

Reading the words “Angry Fart Tour” almost made hot tea come out of my nose. There’s an idea for a t-shirt: Angry Fart Tour 2020, listing every single one of the cases they lost.

  12. Mina_Esq says:

Notice how President Biden doesn’t fear Dr. Fauci getting more attention than him. And how President Biden doesn’t fancy himself more versed in COVID matters than one of the world’s foremost infectious disease experts. So nice. Fu** Trump.

    • Sandra says:

A friend of mine and I were just talking about the Bernie Mittens Meme craze. Biden doesn’t care that that’s getting so much attention right now. Trump would be having the biggest fit. Over a meme. I was so fatigued by Trump’s infantile behavior that I was so sad to realize how insane the past 4 years have been with him at the helm.

  13. Athyrmose says:

Orange guy abandoned the battlefield. Anyway, I’m attaching a tweet that is adorable, and am now one of many referring to the vaccine as the Fauci Ouchie.

  14. EliseM says:

” he’s lost his primary emotional release valve,”- wait, you mean Melina isn’t his emotional rock, and tending to his wounds?!!! LOL

    • KhaoManee says:

Lol…Mel probably went straight from Air Force One to her side pieces place and hasn’t been home since.

      • Jaded says:

Haha! Guess that’s why she looked like she’d lost some weight and had some “refresher” botox and lipo.

      • Sparky says:

I agree!! I didn’t think that was the “faux Melania” on the final AF One flight. She had the same expression as most of us on here of “finally this long national nightmare is over!”

  15. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

I’m still very angry about his so-called presidency, and I’m hanging onto a tiny shread of hope he finds himself incarcerated. He deserves a heinous existence, and any national unity should come with consequences for the guilty. Period.

    • lanne says:

He needs to be publically disavowed by his base before being incarcerated–otherwise he will be martyred by them.

  16. Nic919 says:

It’s so nice to not have to see his dumb comments on Twitter anymore. Even though I stopped following him years ago, there was always at least one person on my timeline that would share his dumb comments. He should have been removed years ago because all he did was lie and incite mobs. No one lease could have stayed on Twitter for so long with similar comments.

  17. Girl_ninja says:

    Quote:
Out of habit, I was checking Twitter throughout the weekend and I came to sudden realization: oh, right, we don’t have to spend every Sunday with a doomscrolling knot in our stomach about whatever Donald Trump is up to anymore.

    End quote.

This. It was so, so wonderful not seeing any of that toxic dump tweets. What a day.

  18. FancyCatsup says:

People are leaving Mar a Lago because they don’t need to buy access to power anymore.

  19. Kelly Sunshine says:

This is probably the stupidest question ever… but what’s stopping Trump from creating a new twitter account under a pseudonym? (I realize that he’s such a narcissist that he probably wouldn’t even want to do that because he won’t have any followers right off the bat…)

    • schmootc says:

That’s against Twitter’s terms – he could try it, but as soon as they confirmed who it was, they’d just cut him off again. I believe he tried to tweet from the POTUS account after they banned his personal one and they removed those tweets.

      • whatWHAT? says:

yup, he also tried to tweet from his campaign twitter, and they removed those too.

        *snicker*

  20. Valerie says:

Haha, whiny baby. I hope this eats him up inside.

  21. Jaded says:

Amongst all the other legal battles he’s going to have to fight in the coming months, his Palm Springs neighbours have lawyered up to prevent him from weaseling around the 2 agreements he signed when he turned Mar-a-Lago into a members only club.

    1) No member – and that includes Trump – can spend more than 7 consecutive days and totaling 21 days per year there.

    2) As it’s designated an historic building, he can’t turn it into a hotel or make any major changes to the place other than normal restorative stuff.

If he wishes to stay there permanently, he’s going to have to spend a lot of money haggling with a team of lawyers about what he can/cannot do there, money which will be rapidly disappearing given the amount of litigation he’s facing, $340 million in bank loans coming due shortly and Deutsche Bank pulling the plug on financing him.

    • Mignionette says:

Lol Melanie will have to sell one of her Birkin’s to fund the legal fees. 😂😂😂

  22. Amy says:

“There are complaints about the food and sad atmosphere of treason and diaper changes.”

    *cackles loudly*

    Perfect!

  23. GR says:

I feel bad about this, but for once I do love the (horrifyingly expensive) retro-looking designer dress Melon is wearing in these photos.

  24. Bibi says:

i love that guy who ordered the planes with the banners of truth

    • Sandy says:

That is a person of honor and integrity and I want to immediately donate to that banner fund for more of that 😂 he needs a new mean banner once a day!!

  25. Jayna says:

Stripping him of Twitter has been a godsend.

  26. JRenee says:

Surely he spent more than 21 days a year there while president.
Anyone who puts up money to primary his enemy list is even more pathetic than he is!
