Catherine FitzGerald wants her cheating husband Dominic West to move to Ireland

I’ve only just seen it now, but did you know that Glin Castle has an Instagram account? It’s pretty amazing. If you find it relaxing to look the well-decorated interiors and well-maintained exteriors of castles and grand old properties, you should definitely check it out. Glin Castle is the ancestral home of Catherine FitzGerald, who is descended from Irish aristocrats. She’s also married to Dominic West, the actor who very publicly cheated on her with Lily James last year. After a few bizarre photo-ops together, Catherine did what most aristocrats would do: retire to her ancestral castle and pull up the drawbridge. It doesn’t seem like Catherine is going to leave Dominic whatsoever. But she is trying to get him to move full-time to Glin Castle.

Dominic West’s wife Catherine FitzGerald has revealed she is trying to convince the actor to move to her family seat in Ireland months after their marriage was rocked by scandal. Speaking in the March issue of Tatler, Catherine, 49, said she would like to live full-time at Glin Castle, which sits on a 400-acre estate in Co Limerick. The castle has been in Catherine’s family for 700 years and has famously played host to Taylor Swift, Sir Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithfull.

‘I can’t persuade Dominic to move there altogether yet, but I’m working on it,’ Catherine told the magazine.

Catherine and Dominic – who made headlines last year when he was seen kissing co-star Lily James, 31, in Rome – also have a home in Chippenham, Wiltshire.

The landscape gardener is the eldest child of Desmond FitzGerald, the 29th Knight of Glin, who died in 2011 with no son to inherit his title.

‘The title can skip a generation and my son [Senan, 12] could be the next Knight of Glin,’ Catherine explained. ‘But he’s just mad into football.’

[From The Daily Mail]

So Catherine wants her son to have the Knight of Glin title. I suspect she’ll get what she wants, on all accounts. Maybe that will be the trade-off with Dominic too: she won’t divorce him, but they have to move full-time to Ireland. Where it would arguably be harder for him to gallivant and cavort with pretty young actresses. The thing is, Dominic would probably just start banging Irish lasses, right? He’ll always find a side-chick. Catherine should just leave him and raise the kids in Ireland and tell him to f–k all the way off.

She is an awesome woman with a cool title, cool family background and a castle – she needs to level up her self esteem, dumb the cheater, and keep it moving.

HARD YUP! I’d be bouncing back to that 700 year old castle, drinking some nice red wine and finding myself a sweet stuckie on the side to boost my morale!

  2. Stacy Dresden says:

I’m sorry, but he does NOT deserve her!!

I’m suuuuuper interested in the mechanics of the way the title is passed down? I know that the rules are different for a number of noble titles in Britain, where they can be passed down through the female line in specific cases, but like. How does this work for this title in particular? I really want to look this up, lol.

    • Purpeller says:

It doesn’t. I thought they had explored the options and there’s no basis for it. However, titles have no legal standing here in Ireland, so anyone could decide to call himself the Knight of Glin.

      • Novice says:

Are the Irish titles still regulated by British sovereign? If so, they may make a personal appeal to the Queen and have her issue a writ or something, provided the title was originally conferred in such a way that generational-skipping would be allowed by the Crown’s consent?

Does she think he won’t cheat in Ireland? That doesn’t make any sense. Maybe she wants him to be more discreet?
    The castle looks cool.

  5. L4frimaire says:

So these two are still a thing and she wants his cheating ass in her home? Ok then. Ireland has also gone into full lockdown, really strict about movement and have closed schools, not much to do as well, so they’ll have plenty of time to get reacquainted . Also, not sure if Ireland still recognizes titles. I think those with Irish titles are no longer seated in the British House of Lords like they used to be, but now I’m curious about this.

    • Irishgal says:

Absolutely right. We do not recognize any of those British titles and also the land they have would have originally been taken from Irish people to give to British ‘planters’. Yuck

  6. SarahCS says:

Yeah unless she stays within 10m of him 24/7 he’ll cheat.

  7. lucy2 says:

That castle is lovely, especially the gardens.

I do not understand this lady. I would have kicked his ass to the curb long ago, but she seems determined to hang onto him. I can’t imagine either is very happy or ever will be.

  8. Heylee says:

I really cannot get over how beautiful and classy she is. She has one of the best smiles. Do I have a crush on her? Kind of! I don’t know what is going on inside of her marriage, but I hope she is happy.

  9. Lotta says:

Maybe the castle have a dungeon where she can keep him. That would solve her problem.

    • MyOpinion says:

      @ Lotta, that’s perfect!!
I don’t understand her motives but none of do as there are always three sides to as story, his, hers and the truth. It may be very well that she is trying to salvage her marriage, but I adore the dungeon!!

  10. Kristen says:

That castle is beautiful, but honestly I would not want to live there full-time either. I imagine there are a lot of really fussy rules + staff around all of the time + folks wanting a look at your castle. Vacation castle seems like the right amount of castle, lol.

  11. Realistic says:

Just clarify, she is not a descendent from Irish aristoctacy but Norman aristocracy. Seems like a minor detail but Ireland was long dominated by other countries and the “aristocracy” in Ireland were never really Irish.

  12. Regina Falangie says:

I can never not hear the words Meat Face when I look at him.

  13. Mertl says:

Their kids are gonna grow up with really messed up view of what’s ok in relationships. Women who do the doormat act pass that lack of self worth/self respect onto their kids. At least she has plenty of money for the therapy they’ll need! He clearly knows that she is desperate for him not to leave her & thus holds all the power. That’s why his Lily James affair is one of Dozens, the only difference is it was made public & the wife made herself/her family look even more a fool with the performance afterwards.

Ladies, dont stay with a guy who doesn’t care about you at all. Don’t be like this woman, who literally thinks his wandering dong just needs to stay close by to not end up in other girls (the delusion…)

  14. Deering24 says:

Yeesh. No sympathy for anyone this deep in denial. A cheater cheats, full-stop. And does she think him staying at the castle will prevent what happens when he’s away on-set?

  15. LoWilli says:

If she is cool with their relationship that’s really all that should matter. It’s very demeaning to judge and criticize a woman’s choices, regardless of the choice. It’s also incredibly belittling to assume she has no self-esteem or self love because her relationship works for her but not for the strangers sitting in judgment. In the modern age sexual fidelity isn’t the only barometer for every relationship.

    • A.Key says:

I’d agree with you if it weren’t for the fact that she publicly admitted to being horrified by what he did and totally devastated by it all. So his behavior clearly does not work for her.

  16. Gobo says:

They bought that castle from her mother together. If she divorces him he still owns half. I genuinely think she’s in a bind- she can keep the castle in the family, or she can have a divorce. But she can’t have both. He has her over a barrel.

  17. A.Key says:

She’s weird. Or in deep deep denial and in need of counseling. Either way, please have some dignity and kick him to the curb! No amount of money or children or castles can make a man faithful and loving, love yourself more woman.

  18. Sara says:

Doesn’t he have a series on Netflix where he cheats on his wife?
