Kim Kardashian plans to spend Valentine’s Day with her kids and not Kanye West

I have no idea what is going on between Kim Kardashian and People Magazine these days. It would not surprise me in the least if we found out, years from now, that she signed some kind of exclusive gossip content deal with People and got paid to provide them with weekly updates, even when there’s nothing really to update. Kim and Kanye West are barely speaking these days and they’ve both hired divorce lawyers, but neither of them has filed for divorce. Hamlet Kardashian is drawing this out, but I suspect she actually has a plan and it might be working. So in lieu of updates about all of that, People Mag’s exclusive about Kim this week is that she’s spending Valentine’s Day with her kids.

Kim Kardashian is looking ahead as she and estranged husband Kanye West move towards divorce. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star, 40, is planning to spend the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday with her kids, and maintains little contact with West, a source tells PEOPLE.

“Kim is great,” the insider says. “She has a Valentine’s Day celebration planned with her kids and family. She likes to make it special for the kids. She doesn’t have any contact with Kanye.”

“It’s obvious that she is just focused on the future,” the source adds.

Earlier this month, a source similarly told PEOPLE that the couple, who married in 2014, now have minimal communication as they continue to move toward an official split. “Kim and Kanye continue to live separate lives,” said the source. “They have no contact.”

I think it’s kind of funny that people are trying to make this year’s Valentine’s Day into… anything. No one should be traveling on romantic vacays. Hopefully, most people won’t be going out to eat. I plan to spend the holiday with my cats, eating takeout and watching tennis. I like my V-Day plans better than Kim’s.

Meanwhile, did you see that Kim donated flowers to frontline workers? She sent bouquets and arrangements of, like, exclusively pale pink roses to healthcare workers at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital in Glendale, California. She sent them to brighten the days of the healthcare workers. It’s really nice and I think the hospital workers probably enjoyed them, but I do wonder if maybe food would have been a better gift? I have no idea though – it’s quite possible that it would have been a lot harder to send catering or prepackaged meals to a hospital, while a floral delivery was probably less stressful for everyone to coordinate.

Um…why does Kim look like Arianna Grande?

    • LightPurple says:

Right? And isn’t that the same face Khloe has been trying to convince us is hers? These Bratz dolls are interchangeable.

    • elle says:

I try to never click on anything Kardashian or Kardashian-adjacent, but in this case, I’m not convinced that is a Kardashian, and if it is, why would she do that? Wasn’t her look her thing?

  2. jules says:

Looks like she just paid a visit to her surgeon right before valentine’s day too.

  3. JanetDR says:

What about one rose and a grocery store giftcard?

    • minx says:

That’s a great idea. A nod to Valentine’s Day but also something practical too.

    • Stradbally says:

I’m an RN and while I would LOVE a grocery giftcard donation from KK or anyone else, I’m not allowed to accept anything with a “cash” equivalent. We take lots of ethics training on what is an is not acceptable, and this is probably what is acceptable. A nice catered lunch/dinner (separate for day and night shifts) would have likely been more appreciated than a bunch of flowers, at least by me.

      • Yeahyeahyeah says:

I’m embarrassed to admit I recently started following her on Instagram and the flowers were part of some photo shoot she was doing. When they finished she donated them to the hospital which I thought was actually kind of nice.

Was anybody else surprised at how smart Kim turned out to be? I always thought she was an airhead when she first got famous but looking back at her last 15 years she seems smart as hell to me now. Look at how she has turned every lemon into lemonade. Not that easy to do when half the world wants to bury you

  5. wheneight says:

Nice gesture, but the way this family goes through flowers is unbelievable. Remember all the past Valentine’s Day’s and birthdays where Kanye would buy those stupid flower wall things or fill the house with flower arrangements? For what? A picture? That’s a lot of water wasted for an Instagram post. Glad we won’t be subjected to that anymore once the divorce goes through.

  6. Evenstar says:

Personally, as an ICU healthcare worker, I’d be incredibly annoyed if I now had to take care of some “generously donated” beige, cardboard-looking flowers on top of everything else.

    • Aphra says:

hahahahah! They ARE beige! So funny.
I didn’t like it when I was in hospital with my first baby and people sent me flowers. It was just something else enormous to deal with (where to put, watering, how to lug home) when all I cared about was the babe. A wee bottle of wine or some yummy eats I would have loved!

    • Tiffany :) says:

They look like they used to be pink, but are now brown and dying. I think that is how they are supposed to look, but they really are the ugliest roses I’ve ever seen.

      • Alarmjaguar says:

I hate thinking that because it is a nice thought, but those are some dreary flowers!

        Who is Jeff Leatham?

  7. BayTampaBay says:

Why would any sane person want to spend Valentine’s Day or any other day with Kayne West.

  8. Eenie Googles says:

    Gift cards, Kim.

  9. Stacy Dresden says:

She truly resembles a blow up doll

  10. grabbyhands says:

She’s not spending Valentines Day with the person she’s divorcing? Stop the presses – what a novel approach.

I’m glad she made sure every bouquet had a card reminding everyone who generously donated the flowers.

  11. observing says:

Is that her real face? Or did she lose a lot of weight in the face?

  12. Dlc says:

People don’t spend valentine’s day with the person they are divorcing? How odd!

  13. OliviaJoy1995 says:

So why was it announced a month ago their divorce filing was imminent…and then nothing has happened. I don’t get the point of announcing a divorce is “coming” so early when neither of them seem to be in any hurry to file.

    • HeatherC says:

It was a test balloon. How would it go over? So her mom is probably analyzing the reactions and weighing them for the best possible financial outcome. None of them does anything organically.

  14. Zee says:

I read about the flowers somewhere else, they weren’t actually an intentional gift – they were used in a photo shoot and rather than toss them after they were repackaged and sent to the hospital. Nice thought and glad they weren’t wasted but… it’s not like her money or time was spent.

  15. Angel says:

They have kids together but no contact ? Am i the only who thinks that’s weird ? How does he speak to his kids ?

    • KLO says:

He most probably doesn`t. I grew up with both my parents married and living together and my father would go weeks at a time not speaking to his wife (my mom) or us kids. Toxic as hell, yes. Also, real life in some cases.
Kanye often reminds me of my parents in how emotionally stunted he is. Talented, intelligent, also piss poor social skills.

  16. Louise177 says:

Wow, the hate is strong. I’m not a Kardashian fan but it’s just a gesture. I don’t know why anytime a celebrity donates or does a gesture so many are quick to trash it as stupid or not enough.

    • Elizabeth says:

Probably because she and her family members have partied and traveled relentlessly and publicly throughout COVID and their privilege is showing. A couple bouquets that were going to be thrown away, don’t make up for her spreading this disease that underpaid and exhausted front line workers are still dealing with.

  17. Amanda says:

    Who cares

  18. Lissdogmom02 says:

Your valentines plans sound like mine, but with my pups. I agree on the food, as someone who has worked at a hospital it’s nice to get. Now I work remotely for them & that’s very cool too. As I remember it food is always welcome, in a fast paced world it’s nice to be able to grab a bite without a lot of pre-planning.

  19. Gab says:

I really like Valentine’s day because i like hearts and red and pink. I don’t feel comfortable with indoor dining this year although it’s allowed in my state. BUT…there are things you can do to celebrate at home. I plan to get fancy takeout and have a family game night with my husband and kids AND I am expecting chocolate in a HEART! And I decorated my house with lots of hearts!!!! and heart pilliows!

  20. Sarah says:

I work at a hospital and we are not allowed to accept food donations right now due to COVID. Flowers are actually much more practical right now although those are an ugly colour.

    Whose face is that?
