Shirtless Robert Pattinson in new extended New Moon trailer

There are plenty of shirtless boys and drama in the new extended trailer for New Moon, the second film in the Twilight saga. The three stars of the series, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, and Kristen Stewart, premiered the extended trailer to screaming fans at the MTV VMAs last night. We’ve already seen some brief shirtless clips of both Robert Pattinson (Edward) and Taylor Lautner (Jacob) from the film as shown at Comic Con, along with a shirtless Lautner in the first trailer. Now we get to see much more of Jacob’s hot werewolf buddies from La Push and more of the characters who play the vampire elite, The Vulturi. Dakota Fanning is evil young Jane with glowing red eyes and too much makeup.

Mild spoilers for New Moon that you can figure out from watching the trailer
I’m definitely going to go see this movie, but I really disliked the part of New Moon where Edward just up and leaves Bella. (I’m labeling this a spoiler, but it’s pretty much in the trailer above.) Bella’s depression is kind of hard to deal with as a reader and I wanted her to realize what a jerk Edward was for not sticking by her instead of working so hard to contact him somehow. It will be an entertaining film, and it looks a little overwrought in this trailer, but that’s Twilight for you, and that’s part of the reason we love it. The car scenes with Alice look really cheesy and fake though, right?

New Moon is out in the US on November 20th and is sure to be a hit. Its predecessor Twilight has taken in $383 million so far.

The car scene looks extremely cheesy. Pattinson’s acting in the leaving scene looks awefully monotone as well. Despite those 2 scenes, it looks pretty damn cool.

  2. Sassy says:

Movie looks good and I’m pretty sure it’s going to rake in even more money than the first. And I KNOW that Taylor is a minor, but DAMN, that boy has a body on him! When does he turn 18 again? πŸ˜‰

  3. Hieronymus Grex says:

*Insert joke about shirtless werewolf boys romping through the woods here*

At least the werewolf boys have some muscle tone unlike Mr. Ratface.

And who invited Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter to this movie?

  4. Eileen Yover says:

Ok I swore off Twilight movies after the first cheesefest, but this one looks descent! Maybe with the new director and some acting experience this one will be better? If not, I’m demanding my $10 back….but I agree with sassy: maybe it will be worth the $10 to drool over this poor child’s body…I’m going to hell.

  5. Squirtle says:

Dakota looks really cool in this movie! She’s growin up!

  6. mollination says:

    LOL!!!!!!!!

That was the whole book condensed into 2 minutes. hahahahahahaha.

  7. princess pea says:

Question: Are there twihards who HAVEN’T read the books out there? Who are all looneytunes over just the one movie?

I only ask because I see spoiler alerts attached to posts about this movie all the time (not just here, all over the web). But don’t the fans all know the story already? Like how you don’t have to put a spoiler warning on Romeo and Juliette, or the Last Temptation of Christ?

  8. Ashley says:

“I wanted her to realize what a jerk Edward was for not sticking by her instead of working so hard to contact him somehow”

That is exactly why I am anti-Twilight.
Don’t get me wrong, I read all 4 books, and I saw the 1st movie in the theatre, but this book turned the tables for me. Made it less of an intense love story, to a pathetic obsession.

  9. HS says:

I’m so there. Total twihard. Although, I will say that when Edward left, I wanted to shank him in the throat. I got over it tho.:D

  10. ash says:

agree with Mollination – I wish they would leave SOME surprises for the actual opening of the movie. They might as well post the film on the net.

  11. lalala says:

i just starting reading twilight about 2 weeks ago. iv read all 4 books now and am totally hooked. i watched the movie and it kinda sucked. book was way better. hope they dont ruin new moon. cant wait for november 20th. i literally wanted to find edward after he broke bella’s heart and rip his out. took abit to come bakc to reality and relaize it isnt real. lmao. im way to into these books now. the trailor is awsome. dakota makes the perfect jane.

  12. Guys, you have to remember Edward left Bella because he was putting her in danger every minute they were together. It killed him to leave. The car scene looks cheesy because Alice is supposed to be driving about 110 miles per hour in the stolen yellow porsche. Movies are never as good as the books but I can’t wait.

  13. Annie says:

    Pfft.

I’ve read all 4 books and seriously, however you slice it, Ashley is right.

    It’s a totally pathetic obsession.

And like really, who goes catatonic after getting dumped? Come. On.

  14. abbizmal says:

I can’t wait. Old Twihard here. Jacob has gotten to be quite the hottie. When will he be 18, like sassy asked? Apparently, New Moon is done by the guy who did Golden Compass, another one I loved that didn’t do well. Too bad there won’t be more of that series. You never know what will be a hit.

  15. GatsbyGal says:

    BAAAAAAAARRRF

That shirtless corpse does nothing for me.

  16. HS says:

    Taylor’s bday:

    February 11, 1992

so- next February he’s fair game to those of u inquiring.

  17. Aspen says:

See…and I can’t STAND that we’re supposed to like Jacob because he “didn’t leave.” The movie makes it look like she leads him on or develops a romance with Jacob and then just leaves him at the drop of a hat.

That’s not how it goes down, and Jacob is practically psychotic in his obsessive anger and control issues towards Bella.
    ————-

New Moon was my least favorite installment…not enough Edward, and I didn’t believe for a moment that the character she’d painted Edward to be would run off and leave her “for her own good” or for any other reason.

  18. Hollz says:

Princess Pea, Sadly there are. Same with Harry Potter, I know several people who are obsessed with the movie, but have never read (and have no interest in reading) any of the books.

  19. Ana says:

I went catatonic after a break up. I would sleep for 17 hours a day. Only eat every three days (and when I did the food tasted so nasty I would gag and throw up.)
I stopped after the second book. They just weren’t that great like everyone made them out to be. I felt like I was reading at a 7th grade level.
I am not even gonna watch the preview. The first movie was horrible I doubt I will watch this one. Remember when Edward took Bella up the mountain? I laughed so hard!

  20. I Choose Me says:

Michael Sheen is in this? Shit, now I have to watch it. I am fully committed to watching anything that man is in. *Sigh*

  21. Peanut says:

It’s a bit sad how excited I am for this movie!!!! (27 years old here, so definitely out of the “tween” target audience. LOL!)

  22. Lara says:

See Jacob is the reason why I’m glad I live in England – 16 is the legal age here…..

  23. Kerri says:

Rob Patterson looks awful in those pics. How can people be oohhhing and ahhhhing over him is beyond me. Ewwww……………..

  24. KDRockstar says:

Read the books (forced myself after book 2) and saw the first film. Oh, you poor boys out there… you will never live up to Edward in these sicko Twihard girls’ minds.

The writing was crap. The movies are to suck away your money. Enjoy. I just don’t understand the attraction of a stick-thin ugly man and women (who look down their noses if someone has a countdown for Miley Cyrus turning 18) drooling over a 17-year-old.

Grow. The. Hell. Up. Create your own lives. This has gone beyond entertainment to escapism at its highest degree.

  25. jaclyn says:

Taylor Lautner= ughhhh, yummmmmmyyyyy!!! Jailbait for sure.

  26. Helen says:

I bet this will be bigger than the Harry Potter`s Half Blood Prince.
