Halle of Chloe X Halle: ‘Skincare is meditative at the end of the day’

It has been a stand out year for sisters Chloe X Halle. They have performed for awards shows and have three Emmy nominations for their album, Ungodly Hour. Halle has flown off to London to film the live action Little Mermaid film. And now my little sisters (in my head), Chloe and Halle, are making boss girl moves again by becoming brand ambassadors for Neutrogena. They are the first sibling duo to fill the role and they are joining the likes of Kerry Washington (who congratulated the ladies on Twitter) and Lana Condor. The ladies said that they were honored and excited to become brand ambassadors as they have been using Neutrogena since they were young. Below are a few excerpts from an interview they did with People promoting the partnership:

On working with Neutrogena
Chloe: We’ve always loved how the products have worked and felt on our skin. So when they came to us, we were so freaking excited. And to be the first ever sister duo ambassadors, that just makes it so much cooler, because I get to do this with my best friend. And I’m really grateful that Neutrogena’s standards and morals align with ours. Instead of hiding who you are, and instead of dulling who you are, it just helps us elevate ourselves and shine through even more.

Halle: We truly feel so honored, because we feel like their messaging has always been just to be authentically you and to let your inner light shine. That is something that my sister and I have been working towards our whole lives, and are still working towards. And getting to show women, and other Black women, that Neutrogena has so many inclusive products. I’m just so grateful.

Their beauty philosophies
Chloe: My beauty philosophy would have to be: it starts from within. How you feel inside reflects on the outside. I’m really grateful for my family, who taught me that. And I’m happy that Neutrogena helps me bring out my inner glow. I’m learning to take care of myself and my skin, and that it’s okay to put that love into yourself. And it’s okay to take the time to treat your skin and make sure that you feel the best ever.

Halle: Yes, I would agree. I would definitely say that my beauty philosophy is, basically just showing the love from within. And I feel like I’m learning, still learning to love myself in all different ways and [to] love every piece of myself. And a brand like Neutrogena has really been helping me accept who I am and embrace who I am, and remind myself that, yes, I can take care of myself. I can take care of my skin. And when I do that, I’m just going to continue to let what’s in my heart show out loud.

On their skin types
Chloe: Where I do get issues is [during] that time of the month I’ll get the stubborn pimples that won’t go away. And I have now learned not to pop them, but even when I don’t pop them, they leave scarring for me and discoloration. But, you want to know what helps with that? Putting on sunscreen every day. It keeps my skin even.

Halle: Our skin types are very different. I’m a lot more acne prone and I realized that when we were touring. That was the main wake-up call for me. So yeah, just catering to my sometimes very oily skin. Skincare is meditative [for me] at the end of the day. It’s like a spa night.

What is there not to like about these ladies? I have enjoyed watching them blossom into beautiful and talented young women. I have been watching their musical evolution since they started singing on Youtube back in 2012. I loved reading and watching Chloe and Halle talk about the skincare evolution. I am a beauty nerd and am currently going through my own skin evolution because “Hello 40s.” Neutrogena is a great company and a great start for the ladies as far as products are concerned. At 45 I still use Neutrogena from time to time. It really is a brand that has stood the test of time. I also like the products for skin types that Neutrogena now promotes. Neutrogena has one of the most inclusive branding compared to other drugstore brands. I also like how they discuss the issues they had with their skin and what products they found worked for them. Mind you, whatever they have to say about skincare is definitely for the youngens because I no longer have the same issues as they do. I look forward to seeing Chloe and Halle win big at the Grammy’s because their Ungodly Hour album was a bop and I was rocking to it all fall. Several of the songs from the album are still on my spring playlist on Spotify.

I should check out their music. They’re so lovely!

And yes, skincare is definitely meditative. I’m really finding less is more, though — I watch these celebrity makeup videos and feel like I need a 10-step skincare routine. I find just toner and lotion works best for me!

  3. Lauren says:

They have such beautiful and clear skin. I like all stuff skincare, but I’m just so lazy that at the end of the day I don’t even want to was my face, let alone use toner or face cream.

Actually Halle has pretty bad skin, it truly seems acne prone and I like that they chose her. I find it so weird when these ads show perfectly smooth and peachy skin instead of, you know, skin that actually needs a more complicated treatment and realistic results.
