Duchess Kate wears a new Catherine Walker coat to visit the Abbey with William

This photo ^ is quite curious, right? The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, walking in tandem, looking at each other with “affection.” It’s almost like they were trying to evoke those famous photos of Meghan and Harry walking in the rain. William and Kate were out and about today to mark the National Day of Reflection. They went to Westminster Abbey’s vaccination center, where thousands of people have been receiving their vaccines by Poets’ Corner. Which is something cool and I didn’t know that the Abbey was even a vaccination center.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have today visited a vaccination centre at Westminster Abbey where they lit a candle and laid flowers to remember the 126,000 people who have died in Britain during the pandemic. The royal couple praised the efforts of those driving the UK’s world-leading Covid-19 jab scheme as Britain remembers the tens of thousands of people who have died during the pandemic.

William and Kate walked down the aisle in the cathedral they married in on April 29, 2011, with the country’s most famous church now helping with the vaccination effort, vaccinating 2,000 people a week in Poets’ Corner. They also took part in the minute’s silence at the Shrine of St Edward the Confessor, where William lit a candle and Kate, wearing a Catherine Walker coat, Jimmy Choo shoes and a bag from Metier London, left a bunch of daffodils.

During the visit, The Duke and Duchess also heard from staff about their experiences of being involved in the largest vaccination programme in the nation’s history, and working in one of Britain’s most revered buildings. The couple also spoke with a number of people receiving their vaccine that day.

[From The Daily Mail]

The Catherine Walker coat is new, at least it is to me? I feel like I would remember that scalloped hem if Kate had worn it before. The coat is very “Kate” and while it’s not my taste at all, that’s what I would pick out for her if I was her stylist. The detailing evokes “lace” and Kate loves a doily look. I like that she’s wearing her hair back too. They were so clearly going for a certain (Sussex) aesthetic though. It’s fascinating. The Other Brother and his Mean Girl wife.

This actually confirms what we all know to be true. The same way Baldimort outed himself as the skin tone police is the same way they are outing their barely existent marriage. Long may they remain in this blatantly loveless union.

    • Cecilia says:

I actually want to know more about the fact that they all of a sudden have an “office” at sandringham house and have been doing their zoom calls from there instead amner hall like they did at the beginning of the pandemic. If you look at their zoom background from that place it’s very unnatural. Legit a table in front of a door with pictures of the kids. Seems to me like one of the 2 has been staying at sandrinham while the other lives at amner.

      • Beach Dreams says:

I think the excuse was that they needed the space to do their very hard work and manage the children’s schoolwork. Apparently it was overwhelming them to do this at their own home. Which is…quite odd considering that Anmer Hall isn’t exactly lacking in space. Also, the idea that either of them sit down with the kids to help them with school is laughable.

      • Cecilia says:

@beach dreams how does that excuse coincide with the reports of them having a slimmed down team due to the pandemic? Im pretty sure that the person who does the most regarding the kids school work is nanny maria. And amner hall is defo big enough. It isn’t difficult to have your kids in one room with the nanny while you do you 30 min zoom call in another room. Like insaid i think they are living separate

      • swirlmamad says:

I don’t know how anyone for one second would believe that they “needed more space”. Doesn’t Amner have like, 30 rooms or some ridiculousness?? I may be a poor pleb in comparison, but you can’t make do in a big ol’ mansion/castle hybrid? What am I missing here?????

  2. stkarolina says:

Their poses in the first and last photo are identical.

Their necks must hurt walking like that.

    • Sunday says:

If they had just done it once they could’ve passed it off as a purely authentic moment (lol, gag me but sure). Doing it twice in one outing only tells me that they’ve had meetings about this, studied pictures of Meghan & Harry, and literally practiced so they could make sure they got the shot. It’d be hilarious if it wasn’t so pathetic.

      • Myra says:

There will be a video of them soon of William fixing her ponytail.

      • SarahCS says:

        BINGO.

Yep, I was raising a suspicious eyebrow at the first one and seeing the second just had me laughing. Do you think they walked around like that the whole time? I’d love a photo of one of them tripping over because they weren’t looking where they were going.

      • Hello mar says:

I noticed a very practiced pose on Kate the other day when she was wearing the tan coat and sweater, everyone focused on will not holding the umbrella for her but I noticed the exact same pose Meghan was snapped in at the Canada house (I think that’s what it’s called) engagement. They are 100% copying Meghan and Harry’s photos, videos, clothing, etc and it’s super creepy and disgusting. I hate them so much at this point I have their names and their account muted on Twitter. Can only take them in small doses.

      • Laugh or Cry says:

However, it is missing genuine affection and love though, which they never had that zest. Try as they might, to no avail. Just be true to you. One is an a&&h### and the other is an abused stunted mean girl. Just be you, respect your truth because the people they seek adulation from ain’t buying it.

    • Amy Too says:

It’s very “awww look at us visiting the place where we got married, during our ten year wedding anniversary year, walking down the same aisle, looking lovingly into each other’s faces (just like we practiced when we were walking down the hall with the church guys). I’ll even wear a white, lacy, scalloped coat suitable for a vow renewal ceremony and put my hair back like people do for their wedding!”

      • Royalwatcher says:

This was my exact thought too – what to wear to the abbey where they got married? Wedding cosplay, of course!

      • booboocita says:

@Royalwatcher — Wedding cosplay, or more “literal dressing?”

    • Seraphina says:

Yes indeed. I wonder how many identical poses were taken and they chose these two. Oddly enough, they aren’t bright enough to realize people will pick up on it since two have been released from the same visit.

    • Midnight@theOasis says:

These two are pathetic. All these performative cosplays of affection are nauseating. There’s nothing genuine or sincere about them. They can both mimic H&M all they want but they’ll never be able to convince anyone there’s true passion there. How sick do you have to be to be so jealous of someone you make their life hell and drive them out of the country….and then spend all your time copying how they do things. As if that will make people like you also. Just sick.

    • BeanieBean says:

Isn’t that hilarious? Twice in one visit? Not planned, no, not at all.

    • swirlmamad says:

When you look at the photo you can almost hear them counting…. “ok, the cameras are on us, keep looking in my eyes for 3, 2, 1….” So sad.

  3. escondista says:

Kate’s clothes fit her very well and i actually like her feminine aesthetic. It’s a shame her personality…

    • Eating Popcorn says:

I think the coat is too long, is it just me?

      • TD says:

I was thinking the same thing! Knee length would be more flattering, imo. And although she doesn’t NEED another coat dress, I really do like the embroidery and color. But yeah, there’s another story floating around about another royal from a European royal family advocating fashion sustainability. Take a page, Kate…

      • L4frimaire says:

She often gets her proportions wrong. This more conservative look is more her usual style.

    • Midge says:

Her look is not my style but agree that she usually appears well-tailored, feminine, and elegant.

      • Tessa says:

I don’t see her as elegant and not always well tailored. She has much to learn as far as style.

    • luna says:

She looks fantastic. Though it’s clear the neckline is very early-royal-Meghanesque.

  4. Summerlover says:

That’s some very deliberate posing!! Very natural…Not!

    • kelleybelle says:

Always, always with the “I’m listening so intently” “concerned” head tilt. All for the cameras. It never comes across as genuine to me.

      • booboocita says:

She reminds me of American wives of politicians of the 1970s and 1980s. Stand next to hubby while he speechifies, and gaze at him with a look of adoration that’s supposed to convey loyalty, faith, and trust, all at once, as if to say, “I believe in this man, and you should, too!” She really is a throwback.

  5. Mila says:

Looks like something out of the Queens closet lmao! Just horrible, horrible sorry 🤢🤢

    • Nyro says:

It fits her nicely but it is very very mature. The cut itself is classic and sort of Audrey Hepburn-esque but maybe it’s the color, the length, and the lace that makes it look like it should only be worn by someone over 60.

      • Amy Too says:

It looks like a quilt. It has the scalloped edge and that same swirly, twirly stitching all over it that people do for quilts. It looks like something a young Victorian woman would find in her hope chest. “It’s white and lacy, like a wedding dress for the bed!”

      • Ann says:

I think this coat would work well if it were shorter. If it were just above the knee, maybe with those 3/4 sleeves, it would have a Kate Spade vibe. Something you would wear to tea in Manhattan in the early 60s, feminine and ladylike but also youthful.

Kate is young enough and certainly thin enough to wear shorter skirts, etc. Is it just considered improper? What a drag.

    • SarahCS says:

My first thought was that I could see Camilla in this. With a big hat.

    • Sunshine says:

I like the scallop detail 🤷🏻‍♀️

      • Agirlandherdog says:

I liked the coat a great deal from afar. Then I saw the close up and realized someone sewed a huge doily over what was an otherwise lovely coat.

      • Emily_C says:

I liked the coat from far away too, then I got a closer look. Besides the doily, I think it has shoulderpads. No, just no, I’ve got swimmer’s shoulders and I will be very upset if I have to start cutting shoulderpads out of everything again.

  6. Lauren says:

This very much a “nothing to see here” while everything is on fire moment. They are getting desperate with the PR moves. That aside I find it great that the UK is using whatever big building available as a vaccine centre, they are doing an excellent job on that front.

    • Lady D says:

Meanwhile British Columbia has managed to vaccinate a stellar 8.8% of us. I wish we had a Biden, briefly.

      • BeanieBean says:

Lady D: that’s all? that’s a terrible number. Are other provinces doing better, or is this type of thing countrywide?

      • OriginalLala says:

Quebec is at 12% today 🙁 not much better…but we have given out most of the vaccines we have, waiting on new shipments I guess

      • Emm says:

In my maga county in the Midwest we are now at about 15% fully vaccinated and the age limit is now down to 40 to sign up. My doctor told me that so many people are choosing not to get vaccinated. He works with long term care facilities and they were the first to be offered the vaccine back in December and he said almost none of them chose to get vaccinated. It’s mind blowing. Oh and cases are steadily climbing everyday. We had gotten down to single digits but I guess that was false hope.

      • LaurieLee says:

Lady D: Sorry that Canada isn’t doing better on vaccinations, but I have to be honest, after the past 4 years it feels really good that you’re at all envious of our president!

      • Nic919 says:

Ontario is even worse. The full effect of voting for Dougie is coming into effect. Many of those voters will now understand why inheriting your dad’s label business doesn’t actually make you good at ruining a business or a government.

Plus our numbers are climbing. I expect another full lockdown by mid April. The idea of having different parts of the GTA be under different levels was always stupid and of course many people are going outside of their area and spreading the virus. That’s on top of poor enforcement of safety protocols at the workplaces that were deemed essential and remained open.

      • Lady D says:

        LOL @LaurieLee. I totally understand.

  7. bibi says:

I dont like to baby bump watch women, but I think with all this turmoil, we will be getting a 4th baby to calm things down. Yes, a baby is the solution to this all – kate will have peace for at least a year and a half, William can say that he’s been laying low to take care of his family while kate is in the bathroom sick barfing, and they can,t go out because of corona still on, charles can control the narrative, and once the baby is there, harry and meghan will get together to celebrate the baby whch will mend everything and the Queen will all have peace and so will we. A peace baby. There is something to me about this photo, the color of the coat, the doily, the gazing, something about Kate that screams pregnancy – now or very soon. im telling ya

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

I’m sure their PR is being taking notes as we speak. A band aid baby will pacify the pubic and no one will dare abuse a pregnant white duchess. That’s reserved for the biracial one.

      • Babz says:

Oooooh, the burn…and you are absolutely right. If there’s a peace baby, Kate will be elevated to near-Madonna status. I can just see the tabloids now. They will exhort people to do everything they can to protect the pregnant white duchess, with the same enthusiasm that they pounced on every single moment of Meghan’s first pregnancy, robbing her of savoring those very special months that she can never get back again. Oh, and nearly driving her to suicide at the same time. They are so predictably abhorrent.

      • Christine says:

I expect an announcement in 4-6 months. They won’t try to bamboozle the masses until Meghan has given birth, and there is a buffer between the pregnancies. God forbid the dummies start to notice the difference between the way Meghan and Kate’s pregnancies are treated. They might have to wonder, however briefly, if they need more black friends. They won’t think they are actual racists, just that they may need a black friend.

    • Nic919 says:

I actually got a similar vibe with this photo, which is not something I would have said a few months ago. The interview really shook them and nothing is working to counteract the reality is that Billy is a racist and Cathy is a mean girl. Another white baby that pushes Harry further down the line will make the racists happy.

      • Lorelei says:

@Nic I wouldn’t have said it a month ago either, but they are SO DESPERATE at this point that nothing would surprise me.

It would get Kate out of work for a while for sure, but I don’t think it would cause the kind of public excitement they’d be hoping for. George was a big deal because he was the first/the heir, but attention has dwindled with each passing pregnancy. (I know this is horrible, but half the time I honestly forget that Louis even exists.)

Only time will tell, but if they think that another baby will shift the focus from the current sh!tshow they find themselves in, I think they’re in for an unpleasant surprise. The public isn’t going to forget their cruelly racist and inhumane treatment of Meghan because of another baby (that they the taxpayers will have to support).

      • windyriver says:

I really hope not, the children they already have, have a tough road ahead of them.

I suspect it’s as significant that Meghan is about to give birth to her second child; she’ll have two children younger than Louis. Kate’s signature role – mom – is under threat. Will may care about their recent PR, but I’ll bet Kate cares more about being upstaged as a mother, the fount of wisdom about children/early years, etc.

      • Nic919 says:

I’m not saying they should do this, but I get the sense they want to give that impression with these photos. I don’t put anything past them at this point.

      • Emm says:

Totally agree. Baby will be here by end of the year. Also, where is her baby mask? Are they all in the wash because of the endless amounts of work they’ve been doing lately, working their poor fingers to the bone these two.

      • Lorelei says:

@WindyRiver ITA that Meghan’s pregnancy is definitely part of it. Having cute babies was all Kate did for years and she was constantly praised for it. It was her role, her “thing,” and basically all she was known for doing. I personally think she wanted one more anyway, and she’s competitive, so she would probably consider it some sort of accomplishment to have both the oldest and youngest of Charles & Diana’s grandchildren.

Her only other option is to stay out there in the public eye more than usual, ever since Sussexit, faking smiles and interest when we all know she’d rather be anyplace else…and her discomfort has, understandably, seemed even worse since Meghan revealed her to be the liar that she is.

The fact that pregnancies receive fluffy PR is the icing on the cake; for her, the idea of getting to stay home and hide for basically the next two years must look SO tempting right now. (And I can’t blame her! If I was in her shoes, I’d be too ashamed to show my face, either.)

      • Babz says:

I can see her issuing an ultimatum to Baldimort – you give me a fourth baby, or the arrangement is off. She can hold Rose – or however many others there might be – over his head, plus spill the secret that they are living essentially separate lives. No more covering for him, no more acting lovey-dovey for the cameras, no more happy family image. She’s so competitive and so jealous of Meghan and Harry, that she’s desperate to maintain the perfect family image and she needs (in her mind) another baby to do that. None of this may happen, but she’s so scheming that it could.

      • Belli says:

Plus Baby 4 would give them a parallel to the Queen, which would be milked for all it was worth and then some.

I go back and forth. I thought there would be a 4th after Louis was born, then changed my mind but now I think it’s looking more likely.

      • Ginger says:

The Cambridge kids don’t bring that much attention. My husband has no idea how many kids they have and what their names are. He does know about Archie.

I remember as a kid that William and Harry were pretty popular.

    • Beach Dreams says:

LOL no. A 4th kid isn’t totally out of the question, but there will be no such reunion to “celebrate” it or some magical development of “peace”. Not when these two have been at the heart of the harassment and problems. If anything, I’m sure they’re happy they don’t have to interact with the Sussexes anymore.

      • mybitchcarole says:

I dont think the 4th baby is going to solve their marraige or public opinion on them. I hate to say it but if they have 4th baby the history will repeat itself . Like now history of queen and her sister is playing out. How Margaret was used as shield to protect queen from criticism or her failing marraige. Same as Margaret sussex have boy and a girl. I hope they live like Margaret kids out of trouble and public eye. Cambridge kids already shows the signs of queen kids. Like george being Charles being jealous of Louis getting attention and anne have same attitude and personality like Charlotte and Louis is worship by Kate same as andrew. Next kid will surely be like edward no one will give f about not even his parents . Another child will drove William to rose further. Now william might have physical connection surely next kid will be too much and he might form emotional connection. For me personally more than two kid is a bad choice because often parents will leave one or more child alone. Like for three kids like cambriges middle child is left alone ex Charlotte. William is devoted to george and kate to louis and Charlotte on her own. In modern family series alex dunphy the middle child often left out by their parents. Even queen love andrew and Philip love anne. Poor edward and Charles left alone. More kids the kids fight among themselves for parents attention and gives parents are lot of leverage to manipulate the kid which obey them and leave other kids who dont obey their rule. Many scientific research study found that more than two kids are bad choice because there is only two parents and parents only pick one kid as their favorite.

      • swirlmamad says:

Exactly. Why would H+M make ANY moves to celebrate yet another Cambridge kid when Will literally has not even uttered his nephew’s name once in public???? Please.

    • kelleybelle says:

She is too frail for a fourth one. Three have practically worn her out. Nuh-uh.

    • Amy Too says:

Bibi, I don’t think that William wants to step back PR wise or any other kind of way so that Charles could take over PR and family image-management. William seems to be super into doing whatever it is he thinks he’s doing right now. He is basically screaming to the press at the top of his lungs right now, trying to control the BRF narrative, in direct opposition to what the Queen and Charles are trying to do which is keeping things much more quiet and insisting this is all a “private, family issue.” William is suddenly working more, showing up to what should’ve been Kate’s solo engagements, giving statements to the press about how he’s totally not racist, having all kinds of articles written about how great and Kingly he is, and how angry he is at Harry, trying very hard to redirect the wave of public and press outrage back to Harry and Meghan and off of himself. He’s having cover story puff pieces written about himself. He is all over the place, loudly and obviously yelling at anyone who will listen to him about how in charge he is. 3-5 years ago I could totally see him giving in to another baby so that he and Kate could both stop working and be lazy and stop being seen and heard from, but right now? I don’t think he’d agree to it. I think he wants Kate out there showing off her white woman trad wife persona, and I think he’s going to want to keep dragging the kids out and doing things “as a family,” so he can have lots of perfect family man pictures out there. That’s not doing to work if Kate (and thus the children) goes into hiding for 18 months and stops coming out or being photographed.

I think she absolutely wants another baby and would love to hide out while all this blows over. I also bet she’s the type of woman who somehow thinks she’s needs to have the last baby in the family, so if Megan has a baby this summer, Kate has to have a baby after that to draw the baby attention back to her. She would love to bask in the glowing PR of pregnancy and having a new baby at home, and I think she used babies as a coping mechanism and distraction when things are going poorly in her life: personal, marital, professional, whatever.

But I don’t really see William giving in this time. I don’t think they even live together. I don’t think he can stand her and vice versa so I don’t see him coming over to visit just to make a baby with her on purpose.

      • Robin says:

I agree. I think she’d love another baby. The person Kate fears most is in many ways the Queen. Having babies has kept Kate under the work radar and given her a purpose as the royal incubator. Didn’t the Queen ask what career Kate had done or was doing when she got engaged to William? Can you imagine trying to explain “precious little”?

      • Cecilia says:

@robin. Idk why but my senses tell me the queen actually isn’t very fond of the Cambs. I know it seems weird but I actually think she likes meghan and absolutely adores harry (tho she should have reeled charles and william in and the treatment of the sussexes is her fault too). I think she tolerates kate and does feel some love for william but he annoys her most of the time

      • Robin says:

Cecilia I’m with you on that. I think she finds the Cambridges lazy, particularly Kate. If she was hoping for a woman who’d energise things, she was looking in the wrong places. Kate must be dull company. What does she have to talk about?

      • Lorelei says:

@AmyToo, I’m going to be laughing at “William seems to be super into doing whatever it is he thinks he’s doing right now” for a long time 😂

      • Nic919 says:

@cecilia – the Queen basically ignored them at the finale of the covid choo choo super spreader tour and so I agree and I don’t think the Queen thinks much of Kate. They don’t have any common interests and the Queen doesn’t care much about babies, which is the only thing Kate has done.
The Queen is also not stupid and knows how little Kate has done engagement wise with all the nannies and staff at her disposal. The delay in providing the household order was expressly because she did nothing. No one waited as long as her and it was only provided once Harry went public with Meghan.

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

Amy Too, I agree that Baldimort wants to keep in the public eye and keep showing how “kingly” he is. W&K’s 10 year anniversary is about a month away. I really wonder if the public will be happy that a 39 year old after 10 years of marriage is still not doing the job? With H&M not around, and once the pandemic is under control, if these two don’t start being in public often it will be quite noticeable. Maybe I would need a British perspective, but I wouldn’t be happy if all she did was produce another baby and not be around. Perhaps I’m missing something.

Does anyone else think that if there’s another baby it would have to have been artificially inseminated? At this point, I don’t think closing one’s eyes and thinking of England is going to happen.

    • Tessa says:

Oh yes her stans go on what a perfect mother she is and they can tell this from the pictures

    • Maria says:

I could always be wrong but I feel like they are at the point where William would separate from her before having another kid.
He didn’t even want three and she’s stated herself he doesn’t want another one. Things between them only look to have gone downhill from there. I think from everything we see he’s done with her in all but name.

Again I could be wrong but if having a baby would have helped their PR and he was interested in the idea, they’d have announced one already in the past year with everything that was happening.

Plus, she’s still getting face work done, so that tells me they aren’t trying.

But yes, I would not be surprised if they wanted to give off those vibes, they’ve always done that.

      • Nic919 says:

I agree that the usual signs aren’t there outside of their photo. She hasn’t gained any weight and remains very thin. And she’s still hard core with the botox and fillers.

We would find out soon enough anyway because she will most definitely make sure to take time off.

  8. Lorelei says:

To be fair, they *could* be talking to each other and we just can’t tell because of the masks, but it’s more likely that they wanted the “gazing at each other” photos that their stans will swoon over all day.

I actually don’t hate that coat? Although my retinas are still recovering from the St. Patrick’s Day jacket she wore.

  9. (The OG) Jan90067 says:

You just KNOW they were told they MUST look at each other frequently for the photo ops lol Interesting that they’re taken far enough away so we can’t see the clenched jaw PwBT always gets around Keenie. These past 2 months seem to be the most time we’ve seen them together in years.

I’d like her coat on her Grandmother in Law. She always dresses way too old. She can be “conservative/ *small c*” and still not look like a woman twice her age.

  10. Jo73c says:

That coat is so fug; bland and covered in lace. Needs huge shiny buttons – lol!
Seriously though, it looks like the outfit a more mature lady would wear to marry her second husband.

    • betsyh says:

I assumed the coat looked bridal because she’s wearing it in the church they were married in. More theme dressing.

      • Jais says:

Yeah @betsyh I thought the white lace in Westminster was to evoke the wedding and a reminder that their 10 yr anniversary is coming up. I think she wore the same half up hair for the wedding too?

    • Nyro says:

Yes! It would be lovely for the wedding of a 75+ widow.

  11. Cait says:

    OMG a proper mask, finally.

    • Nic919 says:

Finally. I wonder how they made her do it.

      • Alexandria says:

They read this site. Remember that attempt to know why the Sussex Squad liked Meghan. So they want to know our insights too. Bam. No sausage curls.

Work ethics and being an actual human being with compassion and decency are harder to replicate 😁

Hallelujah, and on the first anniversary of UK lockdown! Four and a half more months until we celebrate the anniversary of first time she wore a mask in public. What a role model.

    • SarahCS says:

      That was my reaction!!

    • BeanieBean says:

My guess is, she showed up without one & they gave this one to her to wear.

  12. Jessie says:

You just know Kate’s studied those famous photos of Harry and Meghan countless times. Judging by her eyes she’s even going for a megawatt smile while staring up at her ‘beloved’ – whereas William true to form just looks bored. The funny thing is that famous shot of Harry and Meg was captured in a blink and you miss it moment as they effortlessly walked towards the venue. It was a stroke of luck the photographer got the shot he did. THIS just looks so staged I’d pity them if they weren’t so awful.

    • Nic919 says:

They do the same pose twice in different locations to make sure it was caught. As a married couple they could stand closer, but William can’t go that far.

    • Sunday says:

Just imagine them practicing, as they definitely did. Left, right, left, right, 1, 2, 3, TURN! No Kate, turn THIS WAY!

      • truthSF says:

“Left, right, left, right, 1, 2, 3, TURN! No Kate, turn THIS WAY!”

        OMG SUNDAY, I’m screaming!!!!😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣

  13. Cecilia says:

Seems to me like they are trying to remind people that their wedding anniversary is coming up. At least that is the first thing i thought of when i saw that picture. The white coat with that detail was no coincidence.

    • Lorelei says:

@Cecilia: oh god, I’d forgotten about their anniversary…the BM would have made a huge deal over their 10th no matter what, but considering everything going on, the coverage is probably going to be absolutely insufferable.

They’ll want everyone to forget everything that’s happened over the past ten years and hope that seeing tons of their wedding photos again might restore some of the promise & goodwill the couple had at the time. Kate will love the fact that for a moment in 2021, people will remember when *she* was considered the glamorous one.

      • Sunday says:

ITV is airing a documentary for their 10th anniversary, which is sure to be nauseating. Just another case of something being fine for the FFK and FF keen queen, but it’s a big no-no for Harry & Meghan.

      • Chrissy (The Original) says:

I think that seeing footage of them from their wedding will only show how much they’ve both aged terribly. Anyone can see PWT is bored of her and she’s hanging on by a thread as her extreme weight loss and endless Botox top ups seem to indicate.

      • Lady D says:

@Sunday, maybe they’ll show the extra 90 minutes of Oprah footage right afterwards. That would be fun.

      • Tessa says:

Oh and the kids will be trotted out with a story of how they made breakfast in bed for their parents. Louis arranged the tray. I can see this happening plus another happy families picture.

    • Tessa says:

and that means many cover stories about them in Us, People, In Touch, etc etc etc. I”ll avoid the news stands.

  14. Bea says:

I think they are just talking to each other… I don’t think talking to each other means they are ‘evoking’ Harry and Megan. This is a stretch.

    • AKA says:

Right, they really do look like they said something to each other. And Kate has frequently worn her hair pinned back. That doesn’t mean she is trying to evoke an aesthetic here. Sometimes the imagination projects too much…

  15. HeatherC says:

Everyone! We’re missing the real deal…..the mask! It….fits!

And masks cover almost the entire face so it’s easy to fake interest by maintaining eye contact while the rest of your face does something else (I know, it’s why I’m still employed haha)

  16. dawnchild says:

White lacy look to evoke the wedding? Maybe they’re trying for a reset to the 2011 popularity high.
Boring coat, good mask (for once), good they’re getting out there ‘working’

  17. Kyliegirl says:

First, I would love to get my vaccine in the Poet’s Corner of Westminster Abby. Second, the PR is getting way out of hand. With their 10 year anniversary coming up they do an event at Wabby and Kate is wearing a white coat with lace pattern, walking and staring adoring at each other. Bet they were pissed that the masks ruined their “iconic” photo. It’s a day of remembrance. Why does everything have to be about them? Nothing is out of bounds now.

  18. nutella toast says:

I don’t mind the coat…I just feel like on the heels of the “We got married 3 days before our wedding because it was about us in that moment” to which most normal humans said, “Awwwww…..true love”, they’re trying to evoke the same emotions – it’s super on-the-nose in the white lacey coat walking down the same aisle and now doing so as “equals” and “partners” though. I’d say “Awwwww….” but BOY that feels manufactured. Why didn’t they have her carrying a bouquet of daffodils while they were at it?

  19. CidyKitty(CidySmiley) says:

I dont care about anything besides the fact that she is finally wearing a proper mask. Like thank God it fits, not another child’s mask. Her ears have to be irritated from that small mask right??

I dont hate the coat. Its very on brand for her. You can also tell her color has faded because her hair is darker but but me she just looks better with the darker hair.

    • Lorelei says:

@Cidy I also thinks she looks better with her hair darker and don’t understand why she tried to go so light last year. It never looked quite “right” imo, because her natural color is that beautiful chocolate brown. Plus, she has absolutely gorgeous hair that’s always been one of her best and most envied characteristics, lol — why change it? I’d *kill* for Kate’s hair.

I also don’t hate the coat, but I’m a sucker for anything scalloped. If she didn’t have it buttoned allll the way up to the top, it might look a bit less matronly.

      • mybitchcarole says:

Lol her natural hair is not chocolate brown. She dye her hair to chocolate brown. Her natural hair is shades of brown and blond. Her natural hair is when she show for charoltte first day of school. Also naturally her hair doesnt look like that. For each event she pays upto 300 pounds for her hair alone. You can see herhair being terrible at Christmas walk. During Christmas walk she does her own hair and it looks terrible and she hides with weird looking hat. Middletons doesnt have good hair Gene’s look at pippa and carole. Look at kate during her tropical vacation. That her hair and she wear extension and dye her hair frequently.

      • windyriver says:

@Lorelei – I’m with you, +1 on the scallops! I also tend to look better in tailored, more structured clothes, so am okay with the coat. Except for the fabric, loathe any kind of lacy stuff like that, and it’s a lot with the scallops. I’m a jewelry person, so would be likely instead to perk things up with some nice pieces, rather than textured fabric.

      • Nic919 says:

Her natural hair colour at this point is very grey. The few times she’s not had her roots done perfectly, there is a lot of grey and that has been the case for several years.

That said I do agree dark brown looks better on her than bronde.

    • Lady D says:

I think Kate looks her best/prettiest when her hair is dark brown. I think Angelina looks better with darker hair also.

  20. Michelle Connolly says:

I bet they turned up without masks and were forced to put them on as it’s a vaccination site.

    • Rapunzel says:

This. Totally this. Notice those are disposable blue medical masks they are wearing. They normally wear cotton fashion masks to kind of match their outfits.

I’d bet my bottom dollar they showed up maskless to get a better “shot of love.”

      • Lorelei says:

@Rapunzel lol we were typing the same thing at the same time. Kate was probably not counting on them being given those disposable masks and was so pissed that her photo op was ruined.

    • Lorelei says:

@Michelle ITA— all four of them are wearing the same mask — one of those flimsy temporary blue ones — so they were definitely handed to them at the door imo.

    • Belli says:

Exactly what I was thinking, they definitely turned up without masks.

    • Merricat says:

      Agreed. Lol.

    • Emma says:

I’m in UK and had my vaccine at a large vaccine centre like this one and everyone is given a mask like this just outside the main door, with a hand sanitising station to use as well. So they probably have been asked to wear one.

That being said they could and probably have said no in past, as they’ve been places I would expect them to wear a disposable mask like these and they haven’t! I think by wearing the same mask as the staff and visitors, it’s their way of cosplaying the ‘all being in it together’ message. Moreover that they are here and supporting the British people.

    • Amy Too says:

I’m in the states but when when I went to get my vaccine, they made me change out of my cloth mask into one of those disposable surgical masks. Maybe that’s what’s happened here? But I also wouldn’t put it past them to show up without masks since they’re so inconsistent about wearing them.

      • Robin says:

Hi Amy. I’m really interested. Why did they get you to change out of a cloth one? Question from the UK, where people were wearing a variety of mask types at my centre.

      • Lindsay says:

Robin: our CDC updated its mask recommendations in response to the emergence of the UK strain in the U.S. In order of efficacy, the CDC recommends wearing (1) an N95 or KN95 mask, (2) a surgical mask (with some discussions about wearing two simultaneously), and (3) a cloth mask WITH a surgical mask underneath. Hope that helps.

      • Robin says:

Thanks, Lindsay, that is really helpful. I like to know how other countries are wearing their masks because it shows how seriously they are taking the pandemic. I wore a disposable under a cloth mask to my vaccine centre, but people were wearing all sorts. Some people turned up with nothing and were issued with disposable.

  21. Harper says:

Total. Bridal. Co-splay. Just like dressing in green to go to Ireland, Kate wants us all to remember how she walked up the same aisle in white and lace almost a decade ago. Although they looked at each other more during this trip up/down the aisle than they did at their own ceremony.

  22. Couch potato says:

A bunch of daffodils? Did Keen crumble up a bouquet or was that word to hard for the glorious reporters to spell?

Oh, they were definitely trying to get a million $ shot! I’ll start my own count down to the lovey-dovey articles. Countless articles about how much in love they are. How the turmoil has sparked a new flame in their marriage and how romantic they were while walking around in the church they got married in. Looking at eachother with eyes filled with love…🤮

    • Emma says:

I’m British and we use ‘bunch of daffodils’ widely here, I wouldn’t ever use the word bouquet with daffodils unless mixed with other flowers. Bouquet is usually reserved for more fancy flowers or arrangements, whereas a bunch of daffodils are seen as cheap and cheerful sign of spring. The last bunch I bought last week were £1 in my local supermarket!

  23. WithTheAmerican says:

Why can’t she manage to put a mask on correctly, with the part above the nose pinched as it is designed to be in order to… prevent aspirations from escaping.

We all know she usually doesn’t even wear a mask, so if it’s performative, at least she could do it properly.

They were obviously handed these masks and told to wear them, as everyone is wearing the same surgical masks. Good thing I’m not wearing one because I vomited looking at their staged affection. I actually feel bad for her, I can’t help it, William seems like such a horrible person.

  24. notasugarhere says:

Cosplaying her late mummy-in-law again, with patterns made for Diana being used to make Kate’s outfits as well as Carole’s. Sick in the head.

    • Lorelei says:

@Nota does Diana have a scalloped coat just like this one too?

    • notasugarhere says:

There are hundreds of other dressmakers out there, hoping to get attention through a royal commission. Yet here is Kate, and her mother, trotting around in outfits made from patterns expressly made for Diana. Patterns for a dead woman, and from a dead woman, as Catherine Walker passed away a decade ago.

The fact that Kate and Carole keep wearing Diana’s signature (dead) designer is creepy any way you look at it.

  25. Gina says:

Interesting, I thought about baby number 4 for Cambridges too. Not while looking at them here but immediately after the interview.
Firstly, Meghan is pregnant so Kate has to get pregnant too. It seems that’s the way Kate’s mind works
Secondly, the pregnancy and new baby will be the perfect distraction from the all problems/accusations The Other Brother and his wife are facing now.
Side note: I enjoy this nickname, “The Other Brother ” so much, especially when I imagine how incandescent with rage PWBT is being called so. Lol

    • notasugarhere says:

I thought Baby #4 in exchange for Rose. Baby #3 was in exchange for him getting caught publicly drunk dad dancing with the blonds on a ski trip.

  26. Nyro says:

It’s the obvious posing for me. LOL. I want to know which hardworking 22 year old Sloane Ranger at KP was assigned to studying Meghan and Harry photos. How embarrassing. He’s going to be holding the small of her back soon, folks. Ol

  27. Nan says:

Next, they will be holding hands. (eye roll).

  28. CJS says:

For a second I thought she took the coat off. 🤣

  29. Pétulia says:

That’s the way to be both classic and modern. I actually like the dress.

    • Lindsay says:

Me too. I like it a lot. It’s beautiful and looks lovely on her. And there are no visible buttons, which is also a plus.

  30. Over it says:

Difference here Willy and Katy is that Harry and Meghan actually are in love with each other. Nice try though. And yes I suspect she is pregnant, needs a get out of work free card. Petty might say no can do Katherine, we are down in numbers, chin up and carry on , I did . You do want to be a Queen like me don’t you dear?

  31. Jay says:

I mean, may as well just go whole hog and put on a giant white veil and carry a bouquet to really get the message across, Kate.

  32. Keira says:

They’re walking side by side; tandem is one in front of the other. 😊

  33. Beech says:

Nice coat. Yeah. I’m old. Think back to Harry and Meghan’s walk in the rain photo as I hum Bacharach’s The Look of Love. Look back at Keen and Rageaholic’s picture, *needle scratch*

  34. christina says:

    Sycophants!

  35. Nev says:

    Corny and so dull.

  36. Nouri says:

Thé coat makes me think of Rania or the Spanish queen. I think it’s incredibly mature for Kate and would have sooner expected Camilla to wear it.

  37. Gingerbee says:

Kate is wearing a new coat, yet we do not have any hollering from the racist rodents or the taxpayers about optics 🤔

  38. NJ says:

I think the outfit looks nice but it could be cut differently to give it a slightly more modern look.

  39. NJ says:

I think the outfit looks nice but it could be cut differently to give it a slightly more modern look.

  40. Andrea says:

She loves these skin tight coats huh’? I am not a fan of the color or scalloping, but it’s on brand for her older than I am style she has had.

  41. Kitty says:

Seriously what are these two like, at least Kate isn’t wearing Charlotte’s mask again but stole Camilla stylist !!!

  42. Robin says:

Can I ask something. It may have been noted upthread. Why are her hands and limbs so pale when her face is looking tanned? Do you think this is the cathdral lighting? I’ve been looking at the DM, where they have more pictures of her talking “animatedly”, ie with her hands doing that rigid thing they do and her head to one side. Maybe William broke into the bathroom in a furious mood and she only got halfway with the bronzer.

    • FicklePickle says:

Methinks she hasn’t been able to vacation and tan as much as she usually does, and has not yet changed foundation color to match her non-vacationing skintone.

  43. Keri says:

You can’t tell me the clergy and people around them aren’t all side-eyeing them both. On national day of reflection, are they even self-aware enough to look at themselves and reflect on what this day really means in light of their their own behavior? It’s like they want to be laughed at publicly for being oblivious to their own hypocrisy.

They seem to be working more, so I guess that’s a plus. They must hate that. LOL.

  44. JustMe says:

    Kate’s neck bone must hurt!
It hurts my neck just looking at it!

  45. BeanieBean says:

I LOLd at the final shot–good gad, they really took in their marching orders: Look at each other as you walk. At least seem like you like each other. How many times did they turn to look at each other that day? Probably more than they ever have in all their joint public appearances.

  46. Merricat says:

The coat looks like a tablecloth to me.

  47. Sheri says:

    She does look lovely!

  48. Irene says:

Another day, another coat dress. And this one has lace! I don’t like it and think it is more suited to the Queen or Camilla. Far too matronly.

Burberry is a British brand and they make such lovely coats. Why doesn’t she rock Burberry?

    • Lorelei says:

@Irene I *loved* that one Burberry coat she wore back in 2011 but for some reason she’s never worn it again since. That one was so pretty, but instead of rewearing it, she just keeps buying new ones, often almost identical to each other.

Same with the DVF coat she wore leaving the hospital when she was pregnant with George, we never saw that one again either. She also had a black Temperley coat I loved that she wore or twice then never again; I remember a photo of her in it getting Starbucks.

At some point she seemed to switch to getting mostly custom Wickstead/Walker coatdresses and it’s been so boring ever since. (I went off on a complete tangent here but yes ITA with you about Burberry!)

  49. MMadison says:

WOW…..watching my paint dry. I did a decent job painting this time.

  50. Shoo fly says:

Regarding her mask wearing – note how hers requires twisting the ear rubber bands in order for it to fit. This is something I’ve suspected for awhile – her face is too emaciated for her to wear an adult size face mask. The children’s is too tight but the adult is too big to fit tightly because of the total lack of fat in her cheeks. Shocking. Talk about an actual scandal happening directly in front of the British press with absolutely no mention of it.

Regarding the coat, it’s an (at least) $4,100 (we don’t know for sure because it’s custom) coat for a one-time visit to a church operating as a vaccine clinic. How, pray tell, in the midst of a global pandemic without knowledge of when things will reopen again, does one just show up with that on?

Finally, the cut of the coat doesn’t do her any favors at all. It just shows all the ways she can’t fill it out. Looks like a column.

    • Erin says:

I have to twist that kind of mask too, and I promise I am not emaciated. I have a narrow face. The other masks are snug and cover her nose and mouth, which is how they are supposed to fit.

  51. Shoo fly says:

In her last 3 appearances (including zoom call), she’s worn almost $2000 of new clothing, not counting things she’s worn only 1 time before which would, thanks to a $1100 purse, boost that figure considerably. Add in this engagement and you’re comfortably near $7,000, conservatively.

I am sick of pretending that it is frugal to have 400 pieces of clothing that cost between $150-$700 US.

It would cost considerably less and also support sustainable fashion instead of sweatshop labor for her to have 3-4 custom coats a year with 5-7 custom or the finest cashmere tops.

    • Robin says:

There are some grumbles about the money being spent over on the DM, which is interesting. Things about how that coat couldn’t be afforded by the nurses there etc. A slight turn in the general tone of comments.

    • Lindsay says:

She should have to pay me for having to look at that hideous green jacket she wore for St. Patrick’s Day. Yikes.

  52. Elizabeth says:

The amount of money this women spends to look so forgettable and basic! All the money in the world and no taste. So many of the queens / princesses of her generation are conservative (as they have to be) yet stylish, but Kate is just too bland for words.

  53. Lulu says:

She is dressed like a 50 year old bride. I really dislike how this woman takes all her style cues from the older Senior British royals – a 95 year old and a 70+ year old. (when she’s not blatantly copying Meghan that is). Is this what British people like to see? Or specifically, what the royalists like to see? It’s gotten worse over time. It’s like at some point, she just decided to age herself 20 years. Maybe she thinks this will cause people to perceive her as serious and regal? Even the Middle Eastern royals who have to dress conservatively, manage to look more stylish and glamorous than her.

    • FicklePickle says:

I think it’s because, as she has never had a job and never significantly socialized with professional women of her own general age, she has no idea how to dress professionally and simply copies what she sees on the other two who will be/are in roughly the same position that she will eventually have.

I would figure that a working royal should aim for bank manager/high-flying law firm employee (of the country one is in) as a basic dress code, or at least look to other European royal women of her own age for inspiration…but, ya know, that’s just me.

    • notasugarhere says:

Camilla was a 50 year old bride, and she was far more stylish than this coatdress.

      • Lindsay says:

I kinda loved Camilla’s wedding hat. It had a lot of panache.

      • notasugarhere says:

IMO both her wedding outfits were lovely. The white feather creation for the civil ceremony, the golden leaf crazy tiara-ish thing for the blessing service.

  54. Robin says:

Can you imagine getting your vaccine in the cathedral and not being told one of the side effects was hearing Prince William yabbering on about nothing.

  55. Kate has that habit of always mumbling something whenever she walks with William. She’s sort of like pretending she’s saying something to him but not really. She pretends to speak to him but like her words are spoken indistinctly and unintelligibly that’s why he couldn’t be bothered to look at her. Maybe she does this out of being too affected and self-conscious. She’s awkward.

  56. Catherine says:

No question this is a set up. There are multiple doors to Westminster Abbey. No way it was necessary for them to walk the length of the aisle. And clearly the photographers and the videographers were positioned to get a clear straight on view of them. This is so heartless IMO. They used the National day of remembrance to try to get a “money” shot. They always distract from the seriousness of the impact of the pandemic. When care homes were ravaged by deaths. They did an appearance to play bingo. When the U.K. Covid info line was revealed to be giving inaccurate info they did an engagement talking about how effective it was. They spent weeks clapping fro carers while NHS workers were dying; being denied raises and being required to work unpaid overtime. They took a freaking train tour after holiday restrictions were announced. It’s despicable. They are the PR propaganda couple for how to distract from larger issues. But this was particularly galling to me. Already, the coverage is about them invoking their wedding. Meanwhile, the vacation travel restrictions have been extended and new U.K. Covid variants are being reported everyday.

  57. L4frimaire says:

Are there any issues with people getting the vaccine in the UK, or vaccine skepticism? Im sure people are relieved to be getting it after all thieve months of lockdown. After the last week of their ham fisted PR and gaslighting, it seems everyone wants to get back to work, whatever that means. For these guys, it means making their public appearances, and finally acknowledging the toll of this virus, especially after how ignorantly they’ve acted in downplaying it, doing vanity train tours in lockdown or hiding their own exposure.

    • Robin says:

The UK vaccine roll out is strong but has hit a bump because of blood clotting scares associated with the AZ vaccine; some GP surgeries report people are walking out if they are not offered Pfizer. Stocks of Pfizer are running low, so this could be a related PR push to encourage people back towards AZeneca.

  58. Tee says:

Okay Jan. Did we look at the same picture?

  59. antoinette says:

made an account just to say … what one EARTH has she done to her eyebrows?
