The BAFTAs were held last night in London, with big-name presenters showing up in person, and the nominees Zooming into the ceremony. Nomadland picked up major awards: Best Picture, Best Director (Chloe Zhao) and Best Actress (Frances McDormand). Other winners: Anthony Hopkins (for The Father) was Best Actor, Yuh-Jung Youn (Minari) was Best Supporting Actress and Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah) was Best Supporting Actor. Promising Young Woman won Best British Film and Original Screenplay. Many of these categories have really firmed up, and I believe Nomadland will probably win in the same categories at the Oscars.
Anyway, because of the “half-Zoom” nature of the BAFTAs, the photos kind of suck, but at least we get to look at Tom Hiddleston, right?
Here’s Anna Kendrick in Zuhair Murad. She kind of phoned it in?
Gugu Mbatha-Raw in Louis Vuitton. A lot of women wore tea-length style dresses and this was an okay example of it. I actually really like the sparkly design of it.
Phoebe Dynevor in Louis Vuitton. The concept of the dress was fine, but the execution… that sleeve is so poorly executed. It’s so bad!! I’m glad she doesn’t have baby bangs though.
Cynthia Erivo in Louis Vuitton. F–k it, I kind of like this too? I could nitpick and talk about the waist should have been lower, but I feel like she was probably comfortable and it looks great on her.

I hate this one-arm fad, but Phoebe is so fresh-faced beautiful. I like her.
I’m just here to be a spoilsport and say f*ck Phoebe and Pete Davidson for knowingly breaking lockdown in the U.K. so they can get their rocks off when many of us have been separated from loved ones for a year and counting.
But I guess it’s okay for them because they’re rich and famous

He’s currently filming the Essex Serpent with Claire Danes. Loki, which also stars Gugu so they presented together, will be released on Disney+ June 11. Promotion for that has begun.

I actually like the dress Anna is wearing, I think it would look better if she wasn’t posing so dramatically. It’s hard to tell but I like her hair and that shoe looks like it’s probably cool looking.

Does anyone else think Hiddleston’s hair is Disney Prince (or Villain?) tall? Like a full-on bouffant or something. I like a man who can rock a ginger bouffant. (Still love him, don’t care.)
Haha, I thought something looked off, and figured it was the tired look around his eyes (or he’s just aging.) But it’s the hair, honestly. Tom’s hair is to the sky while not really looking that full.
His hair is giving me big Conan O’Brien vibes. It also makes his forehead look huge!
The veranda is open this morning for takeout scones, coffee & tea as we’re still socially distancing. Come enjoy the forsythia and magnolias and daffodils as we celebrate Tom’s BAFTA appearance. We’ll be gearing up for all the Loki promotion for the June launch.
MacAvoy and Chiwetel also presented yesterday and both looked lovely.

My favourite presenter last night was Hugh Grant, who looked amazing and was very funny (he introduced Ang Lee, who was receiving lifetime fellowship). Second place to Dermot O’Leary, who made me LOL by introducing Richard E Grant as “one of the few national treasures we haven’t stolen.”
Of the photos I saw of Tom from last night, this top one really isn’t the best. He looked damn good. His hair/beard situation looked great and the SUIT. The man can wear a suit, holy moly.
Anyway, I don’t think I’m physically, emotionally, or spiritually ready for Loki promo and the show itself. I think I’m likely to self-combust at some point because I’m just…VERY excited.
I love Tom but that hair is not it. All I can think of is Councilman Jamm from Parks and Rec!
