Prince Andrew, Fergie & the Wessexes have been checking in on the Queen a lot

Duke of Edinburgh funeral

One of the side stories being kind of lost in the psychodrama of the Prince of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry is the fact that none of those people seem to be checking in on Queen Elizabeth. I get that Chuck, Baldemort, Keen and Haz are the big show, the main show. But everything we’re hearing about the Queen is that she’s tired and alone. She sounds especially vulnerable at the moment, which is why it feels like certain members of her family are taking advantage:

Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson have made regular visits to see the Queen after Prince Philip’s death, with Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex also supporting Her Majesty, it has emerged. The royals have rushed to her side following Philip’s death, led by Andrew and his ex-wife with sources saying that Edward and Sophie have also spent ‘a lot of time’ supporting her.

As the Queen returns to life without her husband of 73 years she will also be staying at Windsor Castle with a ‘bubble’ of 22 Royal household staff, including some of her closest aides. They include page Paul Whybrew, known as ‘Tall Paul, who sits and watches TV with the Queen having starred alongside her in the James Bond sketch at the London 2012 Olympics. Dresser Angela Kelly, who has been with the monarch since 1993 and has been described as her ‘rock’, will also stay close.

The other close aides include Ian Carmichael, her Glaswegian hair dresser who visited her on Friday and her Ladies-in-waiting Susan Hussey, who travelled in the car to the funeral with the Queen yesterday, and the longest serving lady Mary Morrison, known as Mossy. Her Majesty is only allowed to sit close to her close group of staff, dubbed ‘HMS Bubble’ by the master of the household Vice-Admiral Sir Tony John-stone-Burt last year.

I’m sure there are staff members she’s especially close to, even Angela Kelly (who is a mess), but paid staffers aren’t going to be able to really lend the emotional support the Queen needs at the moment. And it definitely feels like Andrew and Fergie are taking advantage of that, especially since Charles is so focused on the “soft regency” and his warring sons and all of that. Note to Charles: definitely keep your eye on how your two brothers are working over your widowed mother.

Wow, there is no stopping how much the press takes the most bare bones minimum of what the royals should do and make it a headline. They check on Liz “A Lot”. 🤣 They SHOULD be checking in on their mother/MIL. Fist we have Kate the Great coming of age at a funeral and now this makes headlines. The press must have been celebrating 4/20 yesterday indeed.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

WOW! To think that in the year of our Beyonce 2021, largely unemployed offspring (checks notes) pop in to see their newly widowed mother who lives minutes away from them regularly. Almost unheard of. The bar is not just low. It buried deep within the earth’s crust.

  2. JennyJenny says:

    As they should be!!!

  3. Cecilia says:

Im pretty sure they want to give her emotional support but why do i feel like the yorks and the wessexes are using this time to be in the queens good graces? Like more than usual. Seems to me they are after her personal wealth after she dies as nothing becomes certain when charles becomes king. Sorry if this sounds really dark

    • Cessily says:

If my understanding is correct PC could essentially cut his siblings off when he becomes King, is that correct?

    • Capepopsie says:

I’m sure all of that is already settled since long ago. Surely Prince Phillip wanted it all cleared, not leaving his mourning widow with such a difficult task on her own.

      • Cecilia says:

@capepopsie. Im not talking about philips money (to my understanding the queen is to get all of that). Im talking about the queens personal wealth. When charles becomes king he will hold the strings of the duchy of cornwall and the duchy of lancaster (unless he decides to make william prince of wales directly after the coronation, in which william will hold the duchy of cornwall). Either way, charles is most likely to hold the purse strings. But the queen has more money than that. And i think that is what the yorks and the wessexes are after.

      • Becks1 says:

Just to clarify – the duchy of cornwall is not tied to prince of wales. When the Queen dies, Charles has control over the duchy of Lancaster and William gets Cornwall, automatically. William being Duke of Cornwall is automatic, Prince of Wales is not.

    • Snuffles says:

That’s what I think. They want to make sure they are in the will. Because I do think Charles is going to cut off EVERYONE who isn’t an active, working royal when he becomes King.

      • Gail Hirst says:

Then he’ll cut off The Other Brother and the Woman Who Would Be Queen (Consort) someday?

        Promise?

        LOL I know, I dream on…..

      • Becks1 says:

They’re not in the will. It’s all going to Charles to avoid inheritance taxes. I am sure the Queen has settled money on them though in some tax-evading way.

    • equality says:

If Charles cuts them out as working royals, they will need money to maintain their lifestyles. Of course, they could get money for a tell-all book deal.

      • Cecilia says:

William and kate will never be cut out as working royals because william in literally the heir to the throne.

      • equality says:

My comment meant Charles’ siblings (who the article is about), not W&K.

  4. Lauren says:

Chuck should be keeping a close eye on Andy and Fergie, because while Chuck will block any attempts at getting Andy back to public the same cannot be said for the Queen’s money. Andy and Fergie are broke and they want and need that inheritance. As for the Wessexes when Chuck is king they will be getting the duke and duchess of Edinburgh titles regardless andI think Chuck will be keeping them around longer. That being said they are a heartless bunch and they might not realize that a 95 year old lady has lost her lifelong partner and needs support from her family.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

I do not feel sorry for any of them at all. The car rides to church after Andrew was accused was enough for me to see their matriarch in a different light. Let them cannibalise each other. It’s now dog eat dog. Meghan has left they need to direct their hate somewhere.

    • Mac says:

Of course Andrew is going to worm his way right in.

  5. Lexistential says:

Hustling for a will payout before Charles officially ascends as King and is in charge of distributing money.

Ugh, and maybe Prince Andrew and Fergie are also softening her to the idea of remarrying, while the Wessexes are making sure their children aren’t forgotten.

(I am cynical as all hell with these people.)

    • BayTampaBay says:

I have much less concern about the intentions of Wessexes than I do about the intentions of Andy & Fergie.

  6. Sunday says:

Isn’t the queen vaccinated? Why are they pushing this bubble idea this late in the pandemic when we’ve gotten public confirmations that the queen, charles and camilla have all been vaccinated and likely the entirety of their staff? IMO it seems like a convenient excuse to explain why the queen is still so isolated, because it does seem like yet another PR fail that charles and will left the queen so quickly after the funeral instead of (whether genuine or not) supporting her after the death of her husband. None of it makes any sense.

    • Lauren says:

Because you can still covid even though you are vaccinated, a much less strong form, but still bad enough for a 95-year-old. They’d rather not risk it. That aside they are still unsure about the working of the vaccines against some of the more known strains in Europe right now, like the South African strain, the Brazilian strain, and the Indian one which seems especially bad.

      • Sunday says:

you’re right, however the royals have done the absolute bare minimum in terms of promoting covid safety for the last year, and the queen herself has made multiple public appearances without a mask, so I guess my thinking is, if they really cared about covid safety then wouldn’t that logic carry into her public appearances, and/or wouldn’t they do *anything* else to promote covid protocol? To me it’s not so much the existence of the bubble (hell, I’m not leaving my house and I’m halfway through vaccination), it’s that they’re seemingly using it as an excuse for why the queen is only surrounded by these few people, while in the same breath saying she’s getting visited by the yorks and the essexes and all these other outside-the-bubble people which is yet another contradiction and further enforces my feeling that this is less about covid safety and more about a convenient excuse for why Charles and/or Will are nowhere to be found.

While I’m sure TQ is feeling bereft at the loss of her husband of 73 yrs., let’s not forget they’ve spent the better part of the last 5 yrs. completely separated (while he lived with his “good friend/companion”). This is a woman who mentioned to her LIW that she “didn’t even realize” that it’d been more than 6 wks passing, and she hadn’t even given him a thought. She is hardly pulling a “Queen Vicky losing her Bertie”, and going to spend the rest of her time in black netting and mourning.

But yeah, the vultures are circling to try and get those “favors” in before Chuckie can pull the rug out from under them.

  8. AMJ says:

And of course it has nothing to do with the fact that PedoAndy and Edward are leasing their homes from the crown (Mom), unlike Anne who owns her house. What will Chuck do about the expensive leases? Hmmm.

    • equality says:

Edward extended his lease to 150 years in 2008 for 5 mil pounds and Andrew had a 75 year lease in 2003 for 1 mil pounds plus renovation costs. I guess, whether either could be broken would depend on other terms. I’m curious who pays for the grounds keeping at each estate and would either be able to afford servants without the royal “work” or mum to pay the bills.

  9. Watson says:

The sharks are circling I see…

  10. Cessily says:

Most people alive today do not remember a different Queen so I imagine when Prince Charles becomes King there will be many changes and it probably won’t be accepted well.

  11. Michelle Connolly says:

Not that I’d believe much from it, but the DM was reporting that PaedoAndy bought the queen two new Corgi puppies recently, as she’s down to her last elderly dog. Seems like he’s definitely worming his way back in.

  12. molly says:

Here comes Andrew! That worm is never, ever late.
