The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge released their tenth anniversary portraits

Giuliani Press Conference at RNC Headquarters

I didn’t know if we would get anything “special” for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s tenth anniversary, and by that I mean… I was half-expecting them to do some kind of event with a wedding/bridal/anniversary theme today. I thought Kate would wear white and hold some flowers while William stared off into space, looking bored. But that’s not what happened. Last night, Kensington Palace released these two new portraits of W&K, taken by Chris Floyd. They posed outside of their apartment/mansion at Kensington Palace this week.

Considering Kate’s fresh-looking blow-out, I’d say she came to the portrait session fresh from a hair appointment on Monday. I thought her hair looked especially good during Tuesday’s Keen Sheep Event and now we know why. The dress is from British label Ghost, and it’s not available online anymore. Which makes me believe that Kate really did spend the entire pandemic year doing online shopping for Sister Wife maxi dresses. Obviously, Kate looks really nice here. I’m being honest, her hair looks great, and she got the Khloe Kardashian airbrush package. I feel like it’s pretty notable that it looks like Kate selected which photos they would release, and she chose photos where only she looked good? These are not great photos of William, is what I’m saying. He looks like an angry bird.

Speaking of Kate’s sister-wife vibes, you realize that at the very first opportunity they had, William and Kate had to pose in front of a tree, just like Meghan and Harry did for their pregnancy announcement? Yeesh. As for the Keen Anniversary… ten years is tin. Doubt they got each other anything involving tin. Or anything at all.

Kate’s aged like ten years since the Christmas woodshed photos. Whatever else she is, Kate can take a good photo and these glazed, disconnected expressions aren’t it. William looks terrible as always.

    • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

Kate’s been photoshopped to hell and back. She’s beyond the “mannequin setting” now.

      • Lenni says:

If you look at the lines on her nose when she laughs, you know she’s getting botox around the eyes (snd the front, too). It’s super telling. That’s why a good doctor will always also put botox on the sides of the nose.

      • josephine says:

I agree – these photos look heavily doctored.

My other observation is that the first pose makes her especially subservient, furthering the story they seem to love in England that she’s the “good” wife (i.e., knows her place as a lesser person and is happy to be there).

      • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

        @Lenni,

Yes, I do believe people call this the “bunny nose” because that’s the only thing that moves when someone is so botoxed.

    • Indica says:

Her smile has always seemed almost manic. It isn’t …natural.

      • Her smile and facial expressions are so off the charts. If I had to guess I would imagine she’s has social anxiety + (plus being married to not the nicest prince), and thus, is on a anti anxiety regimen . That would makes sense for her crazy over animated expressions . What you see with her gives me the opposite impression, I think shes married to a very difficult man and I hope I’m wrong, nobody deserves that.

      • Queen Meghan’s Hand says:

Is it the botox? Maybe if she did a little filler instead…?

      • Meg says:

Her expressions remind me of pics ive seen of celebs at events or even models in ads looking like theyre laughing at the funniest thing theyve ever heard, even at some event where theyre being photographed holding some product, what is that funny ?
Trying to look like theyre having more fun than they are

      • Cessily says:

Just an interesting read and FYI, not a diagnosis or judgement.

    • The Hench says:

Look, I’m no photographer but these are awful, yes? Badly lit, stiffly and unimaginatively posed, weird and ugly background, over-retouched….and that’s before we get to how awkward W&K look. They must have some of the best photographers in the world at their disposal and they’ve known this anniversary was coming up for a while, it’s not like it leapt out of a hedge and surprised them. Kate’s car shots from PP’s funeral were 100 times better than this mess. Or the lovely photo of Kate sitting on a gate for her birthday.

Wow. And not in a good way.

      • Lemon says:

It’s natural ambient light on a cloudy day. Not the best for portraits because it makes everyone have under eye bags due to the cast shadows from our brow ridges. Usually photographer would use a flash or a reflector to compensate. (Natural light purists would use a surface as a reflector such as light colored wall or walkway, or shoot downward). It doesn’t look like they’ve done that here. It’s a look, especially with the color grading, but I’m not a fan.

I actually don’t like the harry and meghan tree photo because it seems framed around the bottom of his bare foot (some people are into that, not me) and it looks like the tree is growing out of his head. Normally a photographer would frame the couple with the tree or use a longer focal length and wider aperture to soften the tree like the william and kate portrait.

The posing is very boring which is what you would expect from the royal brand. Posing in front of a tree is pretty standard. The photos actually looks pretty carefully designed. The messaging is upper class wealthy people (the ring, the fancy building) but not garish new wealth, british, “happy couple”, it’s very early charles and diana looking.

      • equality says:

To me the W&K one is odd because of the blurred tree and the ugly building background. They have access to all kinds of royal gardens and they pick a bare tree to blur out? The Queen and Charles posed in a lovelier setting around Easter and Charles and Camilla pose in nicer settings for their photos. It makes it look like all W&K were willing to do was walk outside and use the first spots they came to for a photo. When I look at H&M’s photo, I look first towards H’s face, so I disagree that it’s centered on his foot. And that photographer was working at a disadvantage because it was done remotely with an iPad.

      • windyriver says:

Maybe that’s as much time as Will was willing to give to having pictures taken. They’re not particularly creative, but are much better than I expected given the way Will behaves around Kate at events. To a casual observer, Will looks happy.

@Lemons, agree with you about the Harry/Meghan picture. His foot in the foreground is a distraction, and I think the tree is a distraction in both photos that were released, because it appears to be sprouting out of their bodies, but also, because the limbs are such strong lines. In the one of all three of them, at least, might have been better to move to one side and frame them against the slightly more distant vegetation behind the tree. The emotion between all of them in both shots comes across in any event, and is lovely.

      • Becks1 says:

I don’t mind the tree setting bc that’s a pretty standard outdoor setting – posing in front of or on a tree branch like that – but the photo in front of KP looks weird to me. Like they were done with the shoot and walking back inside and the photog said “alright lets try just one last time” and that’s what they got.

      • Lemons says:

I honestly think the royal family purposefully hires subpar photographers because all of their portraits have some lighting issues. The Queen’s photos have been hilariously bad these past few years.

      • Hollah says:

Agree with your assessment Lemons. They have the tell-tale unflattering panda eyes. The first has Will standing straight up and down. No angles, no slight turn inward and, my pet peeve, no hands. The second, she is leaning in and he is leaning away. Terrible connection.

      • notasugarhere says:

From what I understand, the Harry and Meghan pictures were taken via an iPad remotely. The photographer wasn’t there in person, so angles might be a bit odd due to the static placement.

      • Meg says:

        @windyriver
‘Maybe that’s as much time as Will was willing to give to having pictures taken. They’re not particularly creative, but are much better than I expected given the way Will behaves around Kate at events. To a casual observer, Will looks happy.’

Totally agree. i dont see her getting much intangible emotional support or love from him. She married for the crown.

      • Coco says:

        Oh my! So awkward….

    • Gruey says:

I guess in America, someone like Will would have gotten veneers and Invisalign by now. His teeth are very narrow and don’t fill his mouth on the sides, yet point out like a beak in front. The effect is very disconcerting. I’m also guessing this isn’t helping the jowls, and the rapid slide of his facial flesh down his face.

Still, as a dentist friend told me when I was considering getting full veneers (yeah right that shit is$$$), there’s really no good reason to replace healthy teeth and it’s not really that great for dental health. But when your teeth are that ugly…

      • square_bologna says:

@Gruey, I’m really surprised he didn’t have braces as a child or young teen. He could have had a vastly improved bite. I’m continually surprised by the bad teeth in the British Royal Family. Is it considered nouveau riche, and therefore tacky, to have straight teeth? 🤔

      • Jenn says:

He had braces as a teenager.

      • SurelyNot says:

His teeth aren’t ugly they are normal teeth for most people (with access to decent food and routine dentistry) that aren’t overly veneered or white stripped. Americans have the strangest obsession with snow white perfect teeth.

I have pretty decent teeth, they are fairly white and I had braces as an adult — I also just got an estimate for $3000 for two crowns I need since my decades old lead fillings are failing. Dental insurance covers about four bucks of that so I am a tad sensitive about hacking on people for having perfectly normal teeth.

We can call him a dick for other things.

      • Gruey says:

@surely not. I agree they are normal healthy teeth and Americans are overly concerned with cosmetic dentistry. However the big gaps on both sides of his teeth contribute a lot to his…facial unpleasantness. It’s probably a good thing for celebrities to model keeping perfectly healthy teeth. But then you’re stuck with the ugly the maker gave you. I don’t love harping on looks. Will’s conduct is ugly enough as it is.

      • megs283 says:

Gruey, it’s a good thing we don’t know each other, because apparently my smile would cause you to run in horror. I had braces (twice!) and headgear, but my palate does not want to expand/stay expanded.

      • Xoxo says:

Gruey- Kate had her teeth capped, so there is no excuse for will. His biggest issue it that they’re badly stained.

      • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

It’s not the color, it’s the size. They are too big for his narrow mouth.

      • Nic919 says:

William smokes and drinks a lot of tea, which is why his teeth look more yellow than Kate’s. Clearly she’s all over the veneers and white teeth so maybe we can stop saying it’s an American thing.

      • Lizzie says:

I think his teeth are fine and might be the least problematic thing about him.

    • Madelaine says:

The first two photographs remind me of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s engagement announcement pics to the world.
CopyKatren makes me cry: her smile is such an appallingly failed duplicate of Duchess Meghan’s genuine original. These two will stop at nothing to try and outshine the Sussex pair who is from now on so unattainable in terms of trend setting and creative innovation, so beyond their league, that Katren and Bullyiam appear as bitter followers painstakingly striving to keep up. Number one at freak display since they almost look uncomfortable touching each other.

      • GRUEY says:

Lol it makes me laugh we can’t decide what (too big? Too narrow? Too yellow? Too beaky?) but something ain’t right about those fug ass teefs!

Anyway I wouldn’t run in terror at any real persons teeth.

      • BothSidesNow says:

I think that they have photoshopped Keen Doucheness so much that she doesn’t look like her anymore. All I see is the British actress Kate, I can’t remember her last name. But that is an enormous amount of photoshop I have ever seen.
As for that comment comment by MTB, ignore them. It wasn’t a nice comment and you said nothing wrong.

      • smlstrs says:

        @BothSidesNow – Kate Beckinsale?

    • Zapp Brannigan says:

Did they Photoshop hair on Will’s head in the first photo? Because it seems to have blown away on the breeze in the second pic?

Anyway congrats to these two crazy kids, here’s to ten more years of whatever it is that they have holding them together, for the children’s sake.

      • notasugarhere says:

Adults in a miserable marriage shouldn’t stay together for the children. It only makes the childrens lives worse.

    • Ariel says:

Once i saw the performative over-laugh she does in public- there was no way to un-see it.

    • Drea says:

She looks unnatural, and William is just… grimacing.

      • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

He kind of looks like either 1) he wants to kill her, or 2) he thinks her breath is really bad.

  2. lalisa says:

They really photoshopped that first picture of kate. Notice that her smile line isn’t as deep compared to the second one?

    • cassandra says:

Yeah they overdid it, and it’s super obvious they didn’t extend the photoshop courtesy to William-at least not nearly as much. Nobody’s skin is that smooth and dewy haha

ETA even the skin on her hands is photoshopped!

      • Myra says:

I wondered the same. They could have photoshopped him a little because the contrast is quite something. The guy is quite unfortunate looking.

      • cassandra says:

I’m feeling extra snarky this morning, but that second photo makes it look like he’s holding a ‘Real Doll’

      • Chicken Tetrazzini! says:

I noticed the hands too and it wigged me out, Hopefully just photoshop because hand-rejuvenation is some gnarly business. uff

      • Amy Too says:

The thing I noticed about the hands is that her ring looks black. And I thought that was poignant. Obviously the photographer can capture blue okay bc everyone is wearing blue, but the ring, the symbol of their marriage and Princess Diana’s marriage, which has been so pointedly put on display in the pictures bc of its imagery, is black. My husband joked that maybe it’s a marriage mood ring, reflecting the mood of the marriage.

    • Lizzie says:

Whoever photoshopped the funeral pics of Waity did a much better job.

  3. Bryn says:

Whats with her insane smile all the time? Megan and Harry”s photos always look so natural, these on the other hand…

    • MattyLove says:

      Probably because she’s so unhappy

    • Gillysirl says:

someone commented on a post yesterday at the sheep farm that she smiles like a maniac when she’s nervous/uncomfortable/etc. That’s the first thing I thought of when I saw these.

    • India says:

She smiles and laughs all the time to jack her face up. When she’s not smiling her face, even with all the procedures she gets, sags terribly. She has pouches on either side of her mouth.

    • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

It’s entirely natural for a hyena.

  4. Florence says:

Couple of observations in the U.K. –

This story has barely made the top 10 on the BBC news site. It’s languishing at no 9 (edit two mins after making this comment – it’s dropped back down to 10). By contrast Louis’s birthday photo shot straight up to 1. People don’t care about these two. The kids are the interesting ones and will soon be as irrelevant press-wise as their parents when they age out of childhood.

The replies to the BBC tweet are VERY telling. People saying things like “has she forgiven him for sleeping with her best mate?” They’re going to have another Diana-esque situation on their hands – people are coming down on Kate’s side against the future king. The BRF can’t afford it. She’ll have to go.

    • Cecilia says:

Ive always been of the opinions that these two won’t divorce and i still stand by that. Kate wants the crown too much. And like you said, if williams alleged affair becomes public there will be a diana 2.0 situation. And after the whole sussex saga the BRF really cannot afford that.

      • cassandra says:

I’ve become a huge convert to the William was going to divorce Kate before Meghan came along theory. It would make sense that if he was going to divorce her it would be before a big milestone anniversary.

      • Florence says:

The difference would be that no one here likes the Middletons. The BRF can easily re-classify her as “one of them” (helped of course by literally all media outlets bar Vogue calling her Kate Middleton). The BRF could manoeuvre the situation from Duchess of Cambridge = poor Catherine!! Putting up with her husband! To Kate Middleton = social climber who drove away the best young royals along with her scheming mother.

It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out.

    • Ainsley7 says:

They will keep her the same way they wanted to keep Diana. Diana was pushed out because of the Bashir interview. As long as Kate is willing to pretend everything is ok, she isn’t going anywhere.

    • Sofia says:

If he wants to divorce her, he needs to do it before the affair story really breaks in the UK. Right now it’s limited to a small section of the population in comparison to the rest of the UK. If it breaks, William will have to work harder to spin it in his favour. The public won’t do a mass outpouring of sympathy for Kate the way they did with Diana because Kate doesn’t have the public’s love like Diana did (even if she’s pretty popular/tolerated in the UK) but they’ll do something even if it’s tiny compared to Diana. So again, William would have to work hard and he doesn’t really like working hard.

But I still remain firmly in the camp “They won’t divorce, they’ll just lead separate lives” but never say never.

      • Cecilia says:

@sofia if william wants to divorce kate he really needs to disgrace her public image first (which i think would be fairly easy— kate isn’t the sweet little lamb they make her out to be) Because if he were to just divorce her kate and the middleton family will just break the affair story themselves. And then we would still have a diana 2.0 situation

      • notasugarhere says:

Why do you think he worked so hard to cover up the affair(s)? When he divorces her, he doesn’t want any hint of third parties.

      • Cee says:

This is disgusting behaviour. She is the mother of his children, after all. These men are so f/cked up!!!

      • notasugarhere says:

Cee, Kate chose this. She pursued it as her only life’s work for 10 years. She chose to cheat with him behind his girlfriend’s back for months. She chose to sit back for 10 years while he cheated on her, dumped her, took her back when she came running, cheated on her, etc. Lather rinse repeat. This is the business deal she and her mother made. Business deal marriage, PR, and him living as a single man whenever he wants.

    • aquarius64 says:

Sounds like the happy couple took a hit reputation wise. Oprah interview with the Sussexes. Pap strolling a vigil for a murdered woman. Exploiting the death of the family patriarch with funeral fashion, borrowed jewels and smoky eye photo. Rose bush trimming. KP better take note: people in the UK are not as gullible as they think they are.

      • Cecilia says:

I think its because people are genuinely growing tired of the royals and after the queen passes. There will be very little sympathy for the remaining ones

      • Becks1 says:

So, someone made a comment on one of the recent Oscar posts, about how low the ratings were, that stuck with me – that people just weren’t that interested in the Oscars this year because a glitzy ceremony with fancy dresses and jewelry just feels kind of useless after the past year we’ve had. Like yes we want to get back to normal and celebrities and gossip and movies are fun but for many people the past year really highlighted the gap between the haves and have-nots, and seeing celebrities celebrate…themselves….just emphasized that.

I kind of think the same is going on with the royals for many people. If I was in the UK, I would have a hard time connecting with people who are pretending that we are all in this together but the reality is that they aren’t – how the royals spent lockdown is not how normal people spent it, nothing about their lives is normal, and the past year just sort of emphasized that.

      • BayTampaBay says:

@aquarius64 – In the UK, what do the non-royal watchers really think about Cathy Cambridge?

    • notasugarhere says:

They aren’t coming down on Kate’s side, they’re mocking both of them for their business arrangement marriage. When/If William divorces Kate, she won’t have public support nor will her tacky family. Hence the weeks of OTT pro-Kate PR stories out of Bucklebury.

  5. BrainFog says:

“she chose photos where only she looked good? These are not great photos of William, is what I’m saying. ” – you sure there are any good ones, like at all? 😛

The 2nd picture looks weirdly photoshopped. The shadows around her face and in her hair look off.

  6. Cecilia says:

Am i the only one that sees nothing strange with the pics? Like, these pictures are typically william and kate.

Yeah I cringed when i saw them but i cringe at these 2 all the time.

    • Jillian says:

Lol, same! These two always look like this

      • Cecilia says:

I will say that the picture where kate is holding williams hand is very awkward but then again thats not very surprising from these 2

    • The Duchess says:

Same. I expect nothing less from these two idiots. I hope this forced cringe-fest carries on for a few more years. C’mon Baldy, touch your wife some more to prove you are both very happy together! We all know the real truth.

    • Gruey says:

@cecilia I agree they are pretty much fine, and as far as their offerings go these days, fairly normal. Blah, but fine.

I do think the tree shot was Meghan-inspired though. And couldn’t they at least give poor wills a leeeetle bit of a jawline if they were going to remove every last lump from Kate’s face? Like I said, fine.

  7. Millennial says:

William got Phillips genes in the sense that they were both absolute stunners in their teens and 20’s and then it fell off a cliff by their 30’s. Most men retain their looks until their late 40’s’or 50’s.

She’s going to be like Carole and look great until she’s well into her 60s (say what you will about Carole she looks great).

    • Seraphina says:

I respectfully disagree. When Carol smiles she looks like a weasel. The only thing Ma Middleton has is great genes for an athletic body.

      • Susan says:

I don’t think Carole is a great beauty (nor does anyone, as far as I know) but she has aged pretty well.

      • notasugarhere says:

Carole has had at least two facelifts and many rounds of fillers, plus every pic she puts out is photoshopped as much as Kate’s are. The church pap photos from a couple years ago showed she was out too soon after her fillers, because her face was filled to bursting.

    • Jan says:

Philip never lost his looks, (old age is normal) none of his sons are as handsome as he was, Charles with his red cheeks and puffy fingers, stuff in a three piece suit.
      Andy leaving blank.
      Edward a garden gnome.
If you don’t great and you’re not even 40 chances are it not going to happen at 60 even with plastic surgery.

      • Lizzie says:

Agree, Philip was handsome at least into his 50’s.

      • Mira says:

Edward a garden gnome. Thanks for the laughs!

      • vertes says:

Chuck & Anne have no chins.

      • L84Tea says:

I agree, Philip was still a very handsome man into his 50’s. Maybe even 60’s.

      • KW says:

i agree. i tink philip was very handsome. you can blame some of these knee jerking genes on the Windsors’ incestual need to not muddy the blood lines, because they are ugly and dumb. Harry has gotten better with age, and I think he is quite handsome, but then again, once the youth is gone, you can really tell how ugly someone is on the inside because it all oozes out eventually.

      • Ann says:

Andrew was pretty good-looking in his youth, I won’t deny that. He doesn’t look like the others, his features are broader. I think Edward is actually very appealing looking. He’s not handsome, and he’s a bit goofy, but there is something cute and endearing about his face. Charles, never mind.

      • Becks1 says:

Edward was VERY handsome when he was younger – I think ArtHistorian mentioned it here once and I went and googled and yeah, he was really handsome, better looking than Andrew. He almost doesnt look like the same person now.

    • SurelyNot says:

@ Millenial — I agree with you, if she were any other 60 something year old woman whose offspring we didn’t start every day talking shit about, we would likely find her attractive and aging well. She has a reasonable sense of style and looks well put together, I would add that in photos she seems to have a very genuine smile. Perhaps that is inner joy that her lifelong machinations are working.

    • Mira says:

I think she looks great. My haggard face looks older than hers, and I’m 45. She, I think, is 66.

      • JT says:

CarolE looks better than Kate in my opinion. She dresses better because she’s dressing her age, unlike Kate who dresses like her mother’s actual age. Carole also seems more youthful and looks like she has some life to her. Kate is just dead eyed. It pains me to write this. Sigh.

      • Nic919 says:

Carole has a ton of botox, fillers and surgery to look the way she does. There is no way she would look like that naturally considering how much she has smoked and tanned for decades. No 66 year old looks like that without hiding from the sun from age 20, which wasn’t a thing someone in Carole’s generation did. After all they thought using tanning oil was a good thing.

    • India says:

I do not find Carole good looking. She has mean eyes.

    • Va Va Kaboom says:

No male British Royal Family member is immune to the Windsor genes, it probably has something to do with generations of incest. If William were smart he’d follow Prince Michael of Kent’s example and work with what he’s been given. He should his head smooth (or at least the balding spot), and grow out a beard. Prince Michael has sh*t taste in women, but the man has style. He makes balding look debonair.

    • Pamuk says:

Seriously, carol Kardashian looks hard, she’s not aged well because she chained smoked and drank most of her life. Kates the same, athletic male teen body. Even the way they walk is super male like. Carol is much like William, peeked and plummeted in their early 30’s. Its shocking how ugly wills is, and getting worse every year.

  8. Osty says:

Those photos are scary and lifeless. Their forced smiles and wills pale face gave me chills.

    • one of the Marys says:

I agree. They don’t look comfortable and it’s uncomfortable to see. She’s photoshopped to an unnatural degree. He apparently has no good angles.

  9. Alexandria says:

So sweet when two racists get together.

Also why does William look waxy. I’m beginning to think Edward looks much better.

  10. CidyKitty(CidySmiley) says:

She looks fine. He looks like a thumb as per usual. She went a little too heavy with the bronzer/blush in my opinion, I think a soft outdoor almost makeup-less look would have been great here.

I read on HuffPost that these are supposed to be copy like “10 years later” from like engagement or pre-weddings pics? But I haven’t seen those so I don’t know.

  11. UnionSnack says:

I thought the’ll make kinda “official” photos – somewhere at palace, with jewels etc. These look just like random people suddenly decided to make photos. Their helpless attempts to show “love” are funny though.

Anyway congrats. 10 years of constant staying w each other was hard enough for them I believe. Lol, still waiting the news about new honorary for kate.

    • Cecilia says:

Thats the difference between these 2 and meghan&harry. With meghan and harry you can literally feel the sparks through the picture, almost like you’re intruding a private moment. With the cambs there’s just nothing. It’s just a picture

      • Noki says:

In all fairness these two have been together twenty years now, they annoy me to no end but you cant compare with a newly wed couple.

      • Cecilia says:

@noki when i look at their engagement or wedding pictures im not getting that spark either.

      • Sofia says:

@Noki are Harry and Meghan still considered newlyweds? I think that tends to last about a year maybe 2 and that’s it. They’re celebrating their 3rd wedding anniversary in about 2 weeks so I don’t think they’re newlyweds anymore.

But maybe a couple that’s been married for 10 years considers a couple that’s been married for 3 years to be newlyweds.

      • BayTampaBay says:

I think these pictures are fine and are doing the job they are suppose to do.

I actually feel for Cathy as I would find it difficult to spend 10 years of my life with William and looking forward to the future of and with the BRF would definitely disturb me and put me on edge.

      • notasugarhere says:

Noki, Felipe and Letizia have been together 17 years and you still see the sparks between them. Margrethe and Henrik of Denmark were that way too, until his dementia took over.

      • TigerMcQueen says:

@Noki, I don’t expect a newly wed vibe from them, but I would hope that their pictures would show some kind of ‘there’ there after 20 years.

The pictures are, aesthetically, fine (though their post in front of the tree is awkward AF). Keen G looks pretty, especially her hair, and yes, the photoshopping is a bit out of control, but she does look good.

But there’s no shared emotion in the pictures. No hint that these two have experienced a life together, that they enjoy each other, that they have a bond. They’re not looking at each other. Keen is doing her hyena grin, and Cain looks awkward, especially in the ‘hand holding’/tree picture.

I don’t expect lovey dovey from anyone after 10 years of marriage and 20 years total together. But relationships evolve and deepen beyond those newly wed feelings…when two people are truly devoted to one another, love each other (not in love, love), and have decades of shared experiences, good and not so good. They have a bond. And I don’t see and have actually never seen a true bond between these two.

And they’re still focusing Keen wearing Diana’s ring. It’s been 10 years. We get it. She got Diana’s ring. We don’t need it highlighted in every. Damn. Photo. Showing the ring doesn’t make their relationship look more than what it is.

      • Nic919 says:

Turning the video into a Kay’s jewellers commercial was the funniest and most appropriate thing on so many levels. Presenting that ring just looks stupid at this point.

    • FancyPants says:

That’s what I was hoping for @UnionSnack- full length portraits in a gown and jewels! I don’t know why I thought that could happen when all their photos are just the stuff anybody would take in their back yard. I’m just imagining Buckingham Palace in 100 years, walking down the hall with all the grand portraits of the royal family, and the tour guide says “and here’s another Instagram of the Cambridges in matching blue jumpers, but this one is special.” Behold, the majesty!

      • equality says:

Why not in their wedding outfits? I’m sure hers still fits.

      • Sunday says:

oh that’s a great point, if they’re clearly so eager to jump the line that they have uncle gary running to the press about it, why not complete the cosplay and in celebration of the anniversary unveil really glamorous old-school portraits of them in full regalia, crowns, the whole nine?

      • booboocita says:

Full-length, formal portraits make more sense, actually, if the BRF is so keen to showcase these two as the FFK&Q. I honestly think that such a portrait of the two, in jewels, tiara, and braided military uniform — the whole pageantry thing that the BRF does so well — would have been better received than these dull snapshots. But of course, no one looks loved-up in a formal portrait, and they have to prove that theirs is a love story for the ages, soooo …

Baldimort looks dead-eyed. Kate is her usual manic self. When I think the UK coulda had a bad bitch and a hot ginger prince …oh, well.

      • UnionSnack says:

        @FancyPants
Oh, yes! This is the type of “proper” photos for Instagram but that’s not something that I imagine when we’re talking about anniversary photos of FFK and FFQ(C). Why these two photos? Was it the best of all they did? There is *I only have five minutes for it so make the hecking photo* vibe of it. William looks bad like he doesn’t give a heck about the photos at all while Kate with her hair and dress looks like she is about to be crowned.

Also I am not a good fortune-teller but why doesn’t he hold her? I mean that photo where she holds his hand. His other hand somewhere far from her. Surely that means nothing but I still feel this *i keep my smile please take a photo so I can go* vibe.

    • HeatherC says:

@UnionSnack so correct! These pictures, even the cuddled up one, remind me of the stock photos you find on photo frames when you first buy them.

  12. (The OG) Jan90067 says:

Such deep devotion! Such love! Such emotion!! So much so, they can’t even look AT each other! Feh.

If Keen thought she’d get away with it, she’d’ve done the tree sit in B/W, too. Either that, or she forgot.

PwBT needs to learn to smile convincingly with his lips closed; he *always* looks as if he’s baring his teeth or snarling.

    • Cessily says:

If they wanted to stage photos of “happy and in love” why would anyone think him sneering at her was the way to go? If he couldn’t make a decent natural smile why wouldn’t the photographer have him “do an action” like a simple kiss to her hair? It doesn’t need to be sincere to look sincere, but now all anyone can see is that unnatural and “she has cooties” sneer.

      • BayTampaBay says:

Is not PwBT’s permanent facial expression a sneer?

      • Cessily says:

@baytampabay it seems to be his standard look. I only thought for a “happy and still in love” photo shoot they might have put some thought behind the sneer.

    • Belli says:

I saw actually saw a few people on twitter saying “Get yourself someone who looks at you the way Will looks at Kate! 😍”

I have no idea what they’re seeing. Am I projecting my opinion of William’s character on his expression? Because if I caught my husband looking at me like that I’d worry if forgotten his birthday.

      • booboocita says:

Yeah, because someone looking at you like he’s wondering if he can order a hit on you is so romantic.

    • Sarah says:

Apologies…I’ve been trying to figure this out for months, but what does PWBT mean?

  13. Size Does Matter says:

I wonder if they wear blue so often because she want to coordinate everything with her engagement ring?

    • Becks1 says:

      Yes.

    • L84Tea says:

Yep! Everything has to match with big blue!

    • FicklePickle says:

That, and the UK flag only has red, white, and blue as options, white is a color the senior ladies of the BRF usually reserve for formal state events (because white goes with EVERY color of sash), and if Kate wore red too much I am willing to bet some dust-stuffed grey-suited cretin at Buckingham Palace would say she’s dressing ‘too sexual’ for the BRF.

Yes she has to stick with red, white, and blue, THEME DRESSING. THEME DRESSING 5EVAR!

  14. Woke says:

Actually the photos are okay to me. Kate looks really good. The best one is the one where they holding hands.

    • Amelia says:

Why does Willileaks weird in that one?

    • swirlmamad says:

I personally think the hand-holding one is especially odd. LIke Will just has his limp hand on her hip and she’s awkwardly trying to grasp it from a weird angle to make it look like they want to touch each other.

    • BeanieBean says:

I don’t even understand that second one. What’s she sitting on? What’s he sitting on? Is it the same thing? Why is she turned so far away from him? Was holding his hand a last-minute decision? And why oh why always in blue? The whole matching the ring thing is ridiculous. Why does he have to match the ring?

    • vertes says:

Kate’s body position is weird in the seated pic. She’s twisted around like a yoga pose, with her upper torso at about a 90 degree angle to her hips. Also her mouth is open too much. Her smile is better in the standing pic but she’s scrunching her nose. I had no idea KP was so ugly.

  15. Becks1 says:

They really need to stop photoshopping Kate so much. We were talking about this on twitter – its just SO MUCH, and its so obvious, especially since they don’t photoshop William. Kate looks almost soft, like her edges are soft, and William’s arent. I get wanting some touch-up, but its way too much.
I actually like her dress, but I wonder if I would like it if I saw the whole thing (spoiler alert – I just clicked through to the website and no, no I don’t like the whole thing, lol, but the top is pretty).

    Anyway these pictures are fine.

    • swirlmamad says:

I feel the same about the dress, @Becks1 — like I feel like I might like it but knowing her and her style the whole thing is probably a total Monet (Clueless shoutout!). I haven’t looked it up to see the entire thing yet.

  16. Eleonor says:

    Oh, well, congratulations I suppose.

    • Elle says:

      exactly

i get the feeling that even if they divorce, the news, like everything else about these two, will be underwhelming

      • BayTampaBay says:

As I have said many times, I really do not think they will divorce. I think they will just continue to live separate lives because Cathy seems more than willing to do so.

      • Elle says:

I just meant they were boring either way

  17. Smices says:

William looks like Voldemort in that top picture.

  18. Peanut says:

I LOATH when women pose with their head on the man’s chest. They look infantile and I hate it so much. I’m filled with disgust when I see Eugenie’s picture (she looks like a shy little girl) and now there’s this ridiculous image.

    • NTheMiddle says:

      Agree! Drives me nuts.

    • tolly says:

He must be standing on something because she’s not that much shorter. She could stand up straight and look him in the eye any time she wanted to, but that’s not her brand.

    • Lory says:

Kate leaning in on William is a pose Meghan got criticized for in the press. So still trying to copy. Also in terms of body language, Kate and William may be facing each other in the other picture, but both have their legs pointing away from the other. Photos are so staged but body language tells all; that these two are uncomfortable with each other period.

  19. Sue says:

The tree picture belongs amongst the “awkward family photos” memes.

  20. Mooney says:

I like her dress. That’s all nice I’m going to say.

I saw a tweet today, Cain is wearing the same clothes from the sheep 🐑 event. And lynchpin got a whole new look.

    • Becks1 says:

Well, they could be the same clothes (so it could have been the same day) but William also always dresses the same.

      • FicklePickle says:

I think he buys his clothing in bulk lots, whereas Kate likes the variety packs.

    • Cecilia says:

@mooney she actually wore this dress to a private event on their india tour in 2016. Since it was a private event there aren’t any official photo’s however a few people managed to vet a shot with their phone

    • The Hench says:

Probably was the same day. The Leading of the Sheep was one of those dull days we get in the UK where the light is very flat with no sunshine. It’s not raining just ‘meh’. These photos have the same problem – looks like they couldn’t even rustle up a photographer with some proper lighting and one or two of those silver foil umbrellas.

    • Scal says:

That’s because you haven’t seen the full dress (she’s sitting down) it’s a old ghost dress and it is FUG.

      https://www.regalfille.com/product/ghost-avery-wrap-floral-dress/

      • Over it says:

I am with you, it’s like 3 different unfinished dresses put together. It’s hideous

      • BayTampaBay says:

        That is one fugly dress.

      • Nyro says:

She loves ugly sister wife dresses but this is easily one of the uglier ones. The top is ok by it gets uglier and uglier as you look down, lol.

      • MerlinsMom1018 says:

Oh my… I clicked on the link to see the dress and now I wish I hadn’t.
        Here’s my personal thought
She’s tall (I don’t know how tall tho) and obviously thin and I am sure that there’s designers out there that could dress her much much better. She looks like she could carry off just about anything since she has good posture and could look effortlessly chic
Why she dresses in my late grandmother’s generation style when she’s not even 40 yet blows my mind

      • swirlmamad says:

Yup, I was right. Total Monet.

      • Mooney says:

I clicked on the link but it’s showing ‘Forbidden’. Do you have any other links? Looks like it’s banned here.

      • FicklePickle says:

This is a dress you make because you don’t have enough of a fabric to make the entire thing. But, you know, done badly. Eugh.

      • Dilettante says:

That dress! It’s Laura Ashley meets Diane von Furstenberg.

    • C-Shell says:

I’m betting the reason they did the sheep/tractor event and these photos the same day is so that W/K only had to fake it for one day. Bulliam probably insisted it be one and done. That may also be why Khate got to change clothes so many times. No one’s fooled, it nice try.

    • notasugarhere says:

Makes sense it was done the same day. They flew to the sheep event, flew back to KP to pose for these. Likely flew back to Sandringham to their separate residences. Now that their exhorbitant helo travel is hidden in the overall budget, they use them all the time without the tabloids catching on.

  21. Eleonor says:

Well I think she HAS to show the Diana ring… and I also think those veneers were a huge mistake. But her hair look nice.

    • Robin says:

Eleanor, yes, the veneers are dreadful. I think they were done by a top French dental surgeon, from memory. Thing is, they are too big. I think this was done on purpose because she has a slight underbite and probably left it too late to use braces once she was in the spotlight. I suspect the veneers are thicker than they normally should be in an attempt to bring her top teeth over more. It may work, functionally, but they look wrong and cheap, and I wonder how they affect her mouth/speech even. I have a niece who is developing a pronounced underbite and I know she has years of wait and see and potential surgery ahead of her. She is only 12 at this point.

    • Robin says:

      Sorry, Eleonor not Eleanor. Apologies.

  22. Sofia says:

I actually think Kate looks good here. Whether it’s photoshop or not, she looks good. William on the other hand… doesn’t. The Windsor genes have really taken over the Spencer genes unfortunately. Happy Anniversary to them.

    • Becks1 says:

The first picture he looks ok, the picture where you see his profile……sigh. My 18 year old heart is breaking for what happened to his looks, lol.

    • goofpuff says:

oh it’s totally photoshop. that’s not how she looks in natural lighting. her skin is oddly overly smoothed.

      • swirlmamad says:

On the PEOPLE.com website they have an article about the necklace she’s wearing and that pic is zoomed in somewhat. It’s SO grainy and filtered….obvious they photoshopped it to hell and back.

  23. VIV says:

Yeah, he looks as good as he’s going to… Are the touchup skills actually what is meant by “expert photographer” we keep hearing?

  24. Nomegusta says:

The stock photos of women looking sad over a plate of salad have more chemistry.

How you gonna let a tomato out-emote you, Beulah? 😂

I imagine someone was behind the camera with puppets and clown horn

    • Michelle Connolly says:

Sad over salad? No no! Us women are always laughing with salad!

    • Agreatreckoning says:

@nomegusta. LOL. I have to admit that thanks to posters here, my mind translated ‘puppets and clown horn’ to read it as hookers and blow.

  25. NTheMiddle says:

The collection of photos here is the most I’ve seen them touch in years. They don’t naturally want to be near each other like H&M do, so this was weird to see for me. Beautiful pics, Kate looks great, just doesn’t feel genuine when they don’t even hold hands or act interested in one another in working photos.

  26. Amy Bee says:

William and Kate look awkward in the first picture like they’re not accustomed to hugging each other.

  27. Ania says:

They couldn’t look connected to each other to save their lives. I would look similar if someone would make me sit with a stranger and try to look happily married. Seriously, they can afford best photographers and even those can’t capture a moment between Kate and Will when they look at each other with some emotion, It’s not that hard to get yourself in the mood by talking “babe, it’s been 10 years! we have 3 kids! isn’t that amazing??”, I guess it just doesn’t exist here.

And I totally believe Will is permanently incandescent with rage, even when he’s smiling he looks like it’s causing him pain and discomfort…

    • sunny says:

I think Kate looks pretty although she also looks super photoshopped. William looks terrible.
There is no intimacy from the photos which is not unexpected given how little they touch in public and their general stiff vibe. What gets me is that they pose as if they are strangers or as if they don’t like each other at all.

    • swirlmamad says:

Wanna bet these are probably the best takes out of about 500 shots?

  28. The Duchess says:

The way she’s staring into thin air like some sort of creepy doll. I’m getting a lot of aggressive energy from their hands too. His hand is looking for the nearest exit and her hand is holding on for dear life. You couldn’t make this sh*t up! Lol.

  29. North of Boston says:

You don’t understand… these are BeTtEr that the Sussexes’

H & M only posed in front of a tree. FFK and FFC are posed in front of a tree AND are sitting ON a tree!!!

    LOL!

If it hadn’t been for the non-stop nonsense out of KP for months, and the continued lying and Sussex-Smearing and keen-embiggening and enraged self importance, I’d probably think these are fine.

But instead all I can think of is:
“After 40, you’re responsible for your own face, and frankly I don’t like your face”

  30. Erica says:

I know everyone likes to pick things apart like crazy but I actually like the photos. *Shrugs*

  31. Nic919 says:

William is wearing the exact same thing he was wearing for the farm visit. Looks like the pictures were taken that same day.

    • ABritGuest says:

      Well spotted Nic919.

Happy anniversary to them. I like Kate’s dress& hair.

But yeah these pictures feel very forced and awkward especially as that Mario Testino engagement cuddling pic looked much warmer. Charles &Camilla & even Charles& Diana before things went really left used to give more warmth then these two. Which is fine PDA, lovey dovey looks isn’t for everyone so don’t force it & def feels like the press want them to.

      • swirlmamad says:

The press wants M&H heat and intimacy and sorry to say, ain’t no way that’s happening with these two.

      • notasugarhere says:

Their engagement photos were a strange Charles/Diana posing moment, in the exact same pose. In order to make it look more informal, Testino made someone else in the room take off their sweater and put it on William to try to force a more relaxed look.

    • Lemons says:

Seriously how many blue sweaters and collared shirts does this man have?

  32. Sunday says:

I still think it’s absolutely baffling that they squandered their opportunity for some of the easiest, fluffiest pr around their 10th anniversary. I mean, it’s not like they didn’t need some good press, and it would have been incredibly easy for their comms team to release things like top 10 milestones with highlights of the children and some tours and engagements they’ve done, or top 10 best memories from the wedding, or literally any marketing 101 content ideas. Instead, they did an ITV documentary that they stopped promoting almost immediately and basically pretended never happened because it wasn’t flattering enough to kate, and this photoshoot a few days ago? It’s just so bizarre, like short of birthdays and babies, an anniversary is such a content freebie and it would’ve been such an easy way to break into other markets like the US (as we know they’re so desperate to do) and yet all we get is …this? It’s so half-assed for people who are trying SO hard to get attention, I can’t get over it.

    • Cecilia says:

Yeah im surprised at how little the 10 year anniversary pr was too. And the articles that were written were all about meghan and harry. William and kate get everything handed to them yet they make so little of it.

    • Kalana says:

Oooh, what was not flattering in the ITV documentary?

      • Sunday says:

i didn’t see it but i saw some discussion of it; apparently her fans were not happy that the documentary was seemingly truthful about how she orchestrated her and william being in the same class at uni (changing schools, waiting a year, etc), and the implications of her basically stalking him from go. I don’t think randoms on twitter having that opinion would make much of a difference so I guess it didn’t go over very well in the palace either because there’s been absolutely nothing since it aired – no clips shared, no hype, very strange. I think it was meant to compete with the Oprah interview but it clearly …didn’t.

      • Kalana says:

That is very funny. Kate should be proud of her stalker past. It’s the most initiative she’s ever showed.

    • The Hench says:

@Sunday – ALL of this. It’s just baffling. On the one hand they appear to be gagging for good PR to the extent that they exploit not one, not two but three dead people in the course of a fortnight and on the other their 10 year anniversary is a dream of a PR opportunity and we get this.

      • Becks1 says:

Even the Royal Family’s IG posted pics from the actual wedding day as well as these photos.

I really am starting to think I could be the new communications officer. I dont know what that does but I think I could do it, ha.

For this – say something cheesy like “10 years flew by in the blink of an eye! Thanks for coming along for the ride with us!” or something and share an engagement pic, a wedding pic (maybe one never before seen, from the luncheon or something), a cute pic of the kids (again never before seen) and one or two fun pictures from a tour – maybe the Australia tour, and one of the canadian tours, SOMETHING to show what the past 10 years have been like.

Geez louise every person with an IG or FB account does this for anniversaries, myself included, why can’t KP?

      • Sunday says:

exactly, this isn’t some complicated situation in need of meticulous strategy, it’s an anniversary! It’s a gift from the content gods! any comms 101 undergrad could come up with a more competent media strategy, so is it that their team is really that terrible (which just doesn’t seem possible, does it?) or is it that one or both of them refuse to play along, for whatever reason? it’s just so strange and does them absolutely no favors, only raises more questions I’m sure they don’t want asked.

  33. Steph says:

Did Kate do something with her teeth? She no longer has an upper lip. I don’t know if this has always been the case or if I’m just noticing it and cannot unnotice it. I know she got veneers after the wedding but they look bigger now.

  34. Michelle Connolly says:

I say we skip Charles AND Wills. George for king. He’s the most popular, after all…

  35. BearcatLawyer says:

These look exactly like the stock photos you remove and trash when you buy a picture frame or album.

  36. FancyPants says:

Why does it always look like the first time these two have ever touched each other?

  37. TheOriginalMia says:

She got the deluxe PS package and William got nothing. He looks like the crypt keeper and she looks like a mannequin. I wondered if they were in the same shot because the contrast between them is so glaring. Ah, love. Here’s to 10 more years of misery!

    • Lemons says:

They could have AT LEAST whitened his teeth post production. But I imagine the messaging here is “William is so lucky to have this photoshopped English rose beauty!”

  38. JK says:

They are trying too damn hard but there’s zero chemistry between them. Kate always looks like she’s baring her teeth rather than smiling.

  39. Gk says:

Kate definitely won’t want a divorce, he may if he finds his Camilla, but I doubt it not because I don’t think he wanders but because he lived through his parents split. Now Meghan and Harry might divorce in the future but they will be publicly “friends, co parents “ type deal, basically not that interesting if it happens. If Kate and William split that would be very interesting cause Kate would have to fight the monarchy, in the past the women have left with relatively little. Plus the whole side piece speculation, she is the mother of the next heir . Anyway because of all this I doubt they would divorce but it is a lot harder to hide affairs now.

    • FancyPants says:

I don’t think William is capable of “finding his Camilla.” In order for that to happen, he would have to care about someone other than himself, and even harder would be to find someone who feels the same way about him and all that comes with marrying him. In that regard, Kate seems like the only one for him.

    • notasugarhere says:

William ‘lived through his parents split’ and learned nothing from it. He cheated with Kate, he has cheated on her for 20 years. He should know, unhappy people staying married for PR or ‘for the kids’ will only make the kids miserable.

      • FicklePickle says:

Oh no, William learned plenty from it. He learned to make sure that your wife is the sort of person who’ll put up with everything you throw at her and suffer in silence BEFORE you marry her, and to be certain that she isn’t someone who’s likely to outwork or outshine you so much that a well-placed smear here and there can’t bring her down to your level.

    • Alexandria says:

I think Kate fits him perfectly. Suffer.

If he divorces Kate, he’s better off being a single dad. He’s already produced the heir and spares.

    • notasugarhere says:

To add, they’ve manage to hide all their foreign vacations for several years. We know they haven’t stopped going on foreign tanning or ski vacations, they just haven’t gotten caught. Duke of Westminster getting better at hiding his private jet from tabloids. Hiding affairs isn’t that difficult, as Rose wasn’t the first nor will she be the last. William and his lawyers threatening the press goes a long way towards hiding his affairs.

Being the mother of someone in the line of succession doesn’t make her important. She’s expendable, just as Diana and Fergie were.

As for a divorce settlement? Kate can only go after William’s personal funds. She would have no claim on Duchy funds (once he’s Duke of Cornwall), just as Diana had no claim on them. The days of women getting enormous payouts is over, see Tessy the Messy and her small settlement in UK court. If William paid for the Clan Middleton home, that would count as a post-nup and Kate gets next to nothing.

      • lanne says:

I think they would scrounge up around 20-25 million for her, maybe even more. Just like Diana, she’s the mother of the heir, and that does count for something in terms of security at least. I think she’d get Apartment 1A as well, due to security needs.

      • notasugarhere says:

Absolutely not. They aren’t going to have her living the highlife in London while they’re trying to rehab William’s image. William doesn’t have that much AND he’s a known skinflint. They wouldn’t give her a massive payout, especially if he spent the reported half of his Diana settlement on the Middletons new house. And Charles isn’t going to crack open his private inheritance to give Carole Middleton a life of luxury via her daughter.

Kate would be allowed one grace and favour home, like Wood Farm, until the children are at school or until she remarries. Small monetary settlement and ironclad PDA. Extremely limited security for her, but when the kids aren’t with her, no security.

  40. Gina says:

These photos have weird vibe to me. They (K&W) both are so lifeless and so unnatural, like wax figures. Though I have to mention that sometimes wax figures have more life in them.

  41. Maria says:

Omg William staring into the camera is nightmare fuel!!

  42. S808 says:

Hopefully they got Carol something nice to mark the occasion!

  43. Inge says:

Remember people, this guy is the sexiest bald guy….

Anyway, I think its odd that Kate is not looking at William in either pic

  44. Agreatreckoning says:

Instead of buying each other gifts they probably bought loads of Reynolds Wrap to hand out to their stans to keep up with the tin foil conspiracies against Harry & Meghan.
They’ll have the hand from the video hand things out again.

  45. bamaborn says:

If ever 2 people deserved each other, those 2…

  46. Snuffles says:

It looks like they photoshopped the hell out of Kate and barely touched William. And the 2nd picture of William with the profile, he looks like one of The Gentlemen from that Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode “Hush”.

    • Sunday says:

OMG i can see him floating around, moving his hands like they do in the ep… eeeek!

  47. Miranda says:

In the 2nd photo, Bill looks like he’s passing a kidney stone. Which tells you so much about their marriage.

  48. TIFFANY says:

I made a comment on the Twitter as night asking if these two ever look at each other.

My Twitter friend sent me a reply gif of Mortisha Addams (Angelica Huston) drinking tea, and I realized how that read and I chuckled.

    My question still stands though.

  49. swirlmamad says:

At first glance, I was like, oh, so they did manage to take a couple of nice couple-y photos where they don’t look like they want to run screaming in the other direction. But then when you keep looking….these are TERRIBLE pics of William. He looks especially horsey and potato-heady here and about a hundred years older than the engagement pics…looks more like 40 years have passed instead of 10. Talk about getting the face you deserve! And sure, Kate has on a nice dress and her hair looks good, but she literally looks like she’s made of wax in these pics. And most notably, they STILL ain’t looking at each other. Finally, that’s the most awkward hand-hold I’ve ever seen in the second pic. That’s all I got.

    • Nyro says:

William’s been looking a lot older lately. He usually looks like he’s in his late 40s. But he could pass for like 55 or something. He’s been looking very close in age to Edward.

      • Robin says:

Yes. They both look old. The difference is, I think she demands more post editing assistance on official photos. I also think she has some kind of deal with the DM, in that they always edit her to hell and back. If you go to other tabloids, the images aren’t as kind. She is setting herself up for a fall on a daily basis, however. The real her has to get out in the open and meet and greet the public. As we saw with the air cadets, she looks old in real life.

  50. Jay says:

I mean, engagement/anniversary photos are always gonna be kind of cheesy, but the allocation of the photoshopping budget is kind of hilarious.

The one where she’s curled up under his arm and he’s looking at the camera reminds me of the time when teenage Jay attended a Davy Jones concert (it was free, ok?) and seeing him take pictures with the slightly boozy, slightly unhinged fans. Same vibe!

  51. Over it says:

He seems uncomfortable to be touching her, she can’t look at him because it’s not something that comes naturally to them. And dear lord she looks older than 39.

  52. jaylee says:

This is the best her hair has ever looked. Happy the “tree of life” made an appearance because we all knew it would. I just want W&K to be cooler. Imagine a pic of them walking around London at night in great jackets & boots or hidden away in a pub looking cozy & relaxed together. They could modernize the monarchy by unpuckering their assholes & showing us something new. Kate could bake & show us her kitchen. Bring us to her parents house & talk about herself. She could auction off her coats & gowns for charity. Will could let cameras follow him out riding & shooting or behind the scenes of a polo game. If they don’t want to do typical royal work they could share better content & do it on their own terms.

    • Lizzie says:

Is her hair different than every other day? It looks like it always does to me. You have great ideas for their photos!

    • Alexandria says:

Lol so reality tv ain’t it. Don’t worry they will pick up your ideas when they’re even more desperate. You should get paid for them though.

  53. Plums says:

that photo in front of the tree is some serious Stock Photo posing from Kate.

  54. Midge says:

Welp, now we know why Wil doesn’t usually smile in photos. Yikes.

  55. Seraphina says:

She is photoshopped a great deal in this one, we all agree on that point. And Willy is not.
Why must she always show Diana’s ring?
Anniversary gift? Tin for 10 ten years? If true, then they need hearts like the Tin Man did in the Wizard of Oz.

  56. Harper says:

I’m happy for Kate because I think she is probably really pleased with these pics. I think she’s a mean girl and useless but looks quite pretty here. This pic and the Masked in the Funeral car are, in a sense, her parting gifts because I have a hunch it’s going to be all downhill from here. In fact, I’m slightly relieved this morning that the ten-year anniversary is here; now we can see if things start shifting behind the scenes with Willy wanting out.

But GOOD GRIEF. Posing by a tree? Meghan must have had a good belly laugh upon seeing that. I guess the shot of Kate with her head in Will’s lap was too ridiculous and someone talked them out of it. Also, I’m convinced they shot these pics in the morning, and then Kate changed into her country clothes and they hopped into the helicopter to the sheep farm. The Dolittles need their time off and time away from each other so they schedule everything for one day and then retreat to their separate residences. Will’s clothes are always the tell.

  57. Monica says:

I try not to go BEC, so I’ll say they’re not terrible pictures.

But all they are is pictures.

  58. Jais says:

The tree thing is what gets me. I know lots of people pose with trees but this really does evoke the HM tree pic. Like why do you want to draw comparisons? You really shouldn’t!!! It won’t go well!!! Come up with something different. I like the hidden in a pub and cozy idea from @Jaylee. A photographer could prob play with the light and shadows for that. Maybe a pub or place they frequented at St. Andrews? Do a tour of places they used to go to around there? Actually, not sure they can travel to Scotland now. Idk just something that doesn’t immediately conjure the comparison.

  59. serena says:

William, sorry Baldingham, looks costipated but I’m afraid that’s how he always look when he’s not enraged so..they might really be his best photos lol.

  60. Lizzie says:

I always hear she has a blow out but a blow out is usually sleek and shiny. It looks like a lot of time with hot rollers in her hair or someone used a curling iron.

  61. Imogene says:

He really does look like Voldemort in those top pics 🙁

  62. Nyro says:

This looks like a casting photo featuring the two leads from the new Broadway musical of Lars and the Real Girl.

  63. Eurydice says:

If you looked up “meh” this is what you’d find.

  64. Amigo says:

Two strangers decided to take a photo for some reason. I feel uncomfortable looking at this photos.

  65. MsIam says:

I think Charles and Camilla’s anniversary picture had more genuine warmth than this one. This one seems ultra “posed”. And someone was saying “well they’ve been together for twenty years, what do you expect?”, if the feelings are genuine the time together is irrelevant. These two seem like they are going through the motions. But I’m sure it will make their ” fans” happy so I guess that’s all that matters.

    • swirlmamad says:

We took family pics not that long ago (right before the pandemic). My husband and I have been together for nearly 20 years and married for over 10. The photog captured an especially cute shot where we are in the background, looking into each other’s eyes while our kids are in the forefront and focus of the shot. Are we lovey-dovey after all this time? Nope, but we certainly still love one another and enjoy each other’s company, and in a setting like that it’s natural to show that the love is there. Even a photo like that would’ve gone a long way for these two to show they even LIKE each other after all this time.

    • Sid says:

MsIam, ITA about the lack of warmth compared to the Charles and Camilla photo. Regardless of my opinion on them, they always look happy to be in each other’s presence. The Cambridges? Not so much. These photos ain’t it.

  66. Ginger says:

William looks awful. His smile is creepy. It reminds me of the photo of him with Charles.

  67. Chaine says:

Serious question, why does this 30-something man dress like he is in his sixties, and does he have a closet with 1,000 blue pullovers or does he just keep wearing the same one repeatedly? I want to see a Daily Fail story about “Thrifty Future King” recycling his £59 pullover and a link to “Get the Look” to a similar one on Amazon.

    • bamaborn says:

I don’t know. Always got the feeling he was sloppy and unkempt looking because of Kate. “You got me, but, I don’t have to like it.” No one could make be believe he’d look like that if he had a hot wife like Meghan.

  68. Colleen says:

The first picture is okaaaayyyy but the second picture is awful. Both look super Photoshopped and poor quality.

That said, today is also my 10th anniversary (we had the date like 8 months before they announced their date!) and 10 years of kids, no sleep, and a pandemic hasn’t done me any favors either haha. I’m probably gonna FaceTune my own pictures later lol.

    • LittlePenguin says:

Hey Colleen! My own 10th wedding anniversary is in a few weeks and I just wanted to cosign everything you said! To think, my celebration this year is somehow, we have both kids sleeping in THEIR OWN BEDS and that is our cause for popping some champagne!

      • Colleen says:

Happy Anniversary! Are you going to do anything to celebrate? We want to do some sort of weekend getaway in a few weeks since my husband is fully vaccinated and I got Pfizer #2 yesterday.

Congrats on having them both sleeping in their own bed!!! That’s amazing. We started the pandemic with my younger son in his crib but moved him into a regular bed in August. He runs into our room at all hours of the night/early morning right now. His older brother obeyed the “play in your room until…” rule. He does not care lol.

    • Sid says:

      Congratulations Colleen and LittlePenguin!

  69. Beach Dreams says:

😂 What terrible pictures to mark such a significant milestone. Seriously, it’s like they didn’t even bother to put in any effort beyond making Kate look like a mannequin. William looks like he wants to be anywhere else in both shots.

Honestly, they would’ve been far better off posting unreleased photos/footage of their wedding. Or maybe they gave some to the BBC for the anniversary documentary tomorrow. Either way, this was a stunningly flat ‘celebration’ and it makes me even more suspicious about the state of things in House Cambridge.

  70. notasugarhere says:

She has a deathgrip on his ringless ring finger, no?

  71. Becks1 says:

Honestly, to me, it looks like she’s holding his hand so he can’t touch her. Like she has her fingers curled under his so his hand isn’t on her hip, or can’t relax on her hip. it’s very awkward when you look at it. Like she’s letting him close to her and she’s going to smile but he better not think he’s going to put his hand on her leg/hip like that.

ETA this is a response to @Notasugarhere at #70

  72. Elaine Stritch says:

LOL The Sussexes did not invent cheesy couple photos in front of trees…

    • Maria says:

I love the comments of “the Sussexes didn’t invent it!” Ok we’ll just leave out the context of their pregnancy announcement and how it broke the internet and how this tree is exactly the same as the one in the Sussex shoot and how it’s just one example of recent copying. Sure.

    • Sid says:

They didn’t invent sitting on your couch to do Zoom calls either, but it is rather obvious that the Cambridges have been taking inspiration from a lot of the things the Sussexes have done once they see how well it goes over with the public. I mean, KP is out here allegedly sending minions to Twitter with “thesis surveys” to try and mine info from the SussexSquad about what it is they like about H&M.

    • Elaine Stritch says:

Sure, but they have a number of family photos that take place in front of and under trees dating back long before Harry & Meghan. They did an entire shoot under one for GQ years ago.

      • Maria says:

They’ve taken pictures in front of bushes or on a log.
Not in front of “trees of life” (this little detail was emphasized about the Sussex shoot in British media including the Daily Mail, no doubt this influenced William and Kate).

      • Elaine Stritch says:

        Oh, no doubt.

  73. Andrew’s Nemesis says:

Note that she’s looking past him, not at him. Most peculiar.

  74. Watson says:

Vogue put this photo on their Instagram and they were draaaagggeed. Hahhaha!!!

    https://www.instagram.com/p/COOd4-CB6N8/?igshid=t2musb34heja

  75. anp says:

I hope they celebrate a lovely anniversary together.

  76. notasugarhere says:

Perhaps a mutual PR tin ear, @Kaiser?

  77. JustMe says:

    Professional photographer – really!? really!?
At a glance I thought a twig was resting on her shoulder in the first photograph and then noticed the odd looking something seeming to drop from underneath his seat.
In the second photo her ring is twisted not straight and has no shine emanating from it.
Not a winning endorsement for the photographer!

  78. Nancy says:

The dress is hideous. Catherine, we realize that you haven’t had many new photos of Meghan to study recently, but please go back to Meghan’s Mirror and look in the archives. She would never be caught in twee dress like this. I understand that you slipped back into your granny comfort zone but don’t forget you resolution to modernize. You can bounce back, just study those photos and practice practice practice.

  79. rawiya says:

The second one looks so photoshopped. It looks like two separate photos that were brought together. Was William even in the original photo?

  80. Tess says:

Kate looks really great! William oof, idk what he is doing but he needs to step it up. He just doesn’t match Kate’s level of enthusiasm, she always gives a lot and he never levels up. His smile looks like a grimace, the hug is awkward to me, the finger grip in the other is awkward to me. And okay to nitpick, Meg likes to do this annoying-to-me “laugh and look away or head down”, which eye roll but whatever, and Kate I feel that is totally channeling that.

  81. nicegirl says:

He does look like an angry bird, omg. Spot on!

  82. BlondieR says:

I saw Kaiser’s tweet about the picture before I saw the picture and thought “it can’t really be that bad…”
Shit, it was undersold how bad it was! What happened to my teenage crush 🤮 oh yeah- his shitty personality and actions!

  83. furbar says:

of course she looks good, that’s not her real face, like everybody on IG looks great after the filters

  84. equality says:

CH didn’t post the anniversary on Instagram and on Twitter they posted but then buried it under a bunch of tweets about International Dance Day.

  85. February-Pisces says:

Exactly 10 years ago today I was super excited. I enjoyed the wedding and had so much hope for this couple. I can’t believe where we are at today, their masks have well and truly slipped.

As for the photo, Kate clearly slipped the photographer a few notes on his way out to make sure she was photoshopped to hell, and Willie looks like his nose got bigger and aged a couple of years over night.

Also it’s been very sunny in the uk for the past few weeks, so I have no idea when these were taken and it looks very dull and overcast.

Anyway, here’s to the next 10 years, to the couple who truly deserve each other.

  86. pisces pearl says:

William couldn’t even be bothered to change his outfit for this photoshoot? It’s the same one, shirt, sweater and jeans they went to the farm this day.

  87. Digital Unicorn says:

The first one is a bad recreation of their engagement shot and the 2nd one, bad attempt at Sussex cosplaying. These shots are so posed and can’t hide the awardness.

  88. iconoclast59 says:

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and her husband Daniel celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary last June. In all of the official photos, V&D are looking at the camera, not each other. Yet, they still convey that they’re a loving, bonded couple far more than the pics of W&K. • Monica says:

      Wow. Gorgeous and classy.

      • Sid says:

They are. I think their wedding is probably my favorite of all the modern royal weddings. Really lovely couple with a lovely little family.

    • TheOriginalMia says:

I love them. Haven’t really paid much attention to them over the pandemic, so thank you for these. Gorgeous.

    • Cessily says:

Wow, beautiful couple and I love her dresses. Thanks for sharing.

  89. Haylie says:

Aging like bananas and deservedly so. You’re not supposed to wear your Dorian Grey portraits on your face. It’s supposed to stay in the attic.

  90. On the photo where they were sitting on a branch of a tree, their hand-holding is awkward. They are stiff. William could have leaned in a bit more toward Kate so that he could have his hand farther slid inward so that Kate’s hand didn’t look contorted. Besides why didn’t they have William’s hand holding hers? It could’ve come out more natural and he would’ve looked more loving to her. They lack chemistry overall impression.

  91. Andrea says:

I can’t wait for the coverage of the anniversary video 🤣🤣. Wow, talk about trying to hard and going over the top. They are so butt hurt by M&H they just can’t stop.

  92. Waitwhat says:

No one here was going to like these photos, but I think they both look good and happy together. The image is very on-brand for them, and although the posing is more tactile and affectionate than they usually show, it looks reasonably natural (I say reasonably because these are posed rather than candid shots).

The fact that they’ve been edited shouldn’t be surprising to anyone; everyone in the public eye wants to control their image in order to look as good as they can. I don’t think it looks overdone or Kardashian-esque, but I guess that’s kind of in the eye of the beholder.

    • Prince Charles and Camilla look more natural and in love than these two. Will and Kate have no connection.

    • Maria says:

She’s not even looking at him.

As far as wanting to look good in the public eye, it’s certainly understandable. For myself however, I see no reason not to comment on it since Kate’s massively photoshopped “glowing complexion” has been used several times in Middleton leak articles to try to shame Meghan’s appearance/skin.

    • Lizzie says:

No need to invalidate everyone else’s opinion before giving your own.

  93. sophieb9 says:

The thing that is the challenge for these pix is the history: we have come to know some distasteful behaviours about the people in the images, which colours judgment. My comments would be: 1. Will and Kate, you absolutely do not need to grin your heads off in every publicity photo. Check out how the European royals do it. A smile can convey just as much warmth. 2. William is the heir. In photo 2 Kate should look at him not the other way around. It switches the focus of the photo. 3. Her hands in photo 2 were not placed well…knuckles to the forefront, a strange grip of his hand…

    • equality says:

In photo 2 Kate can’t really look at William without her head and/or her eyes looking skewed. It seems an awkward way to have them pose.

  94. Jezebel's Lacefront says:

They look so plastic. You cannot buy or fake chemistry with your partner.

  95. CrystalBall says:

The photos are unconvincing for several reasons:

    1. Kate’s overly fussy dress clashes with William’s casual look. She could attend a wedding in her outfit while he would need to smarten up.

    2. The ingénue style of dress is far too youthful and the wrong choice for someone who looks far from innocent and has such a knowing look in her eyes.

    3. They both have the strained look of people who have been posing for too long as the photographer struggles to get just one good shot.

  96. Rnot says:

His smile doesn’t reach his eyes.

  97. Vanessa says:

Their photos looks so forced and unnatural she literally gripping his pinky finger to death and the photographs photo shop Kate to death while William looks like the grim reapers . The daily mail has this stupid article where a photograph claims that the Cambridge’s photo is so natural and regal while the Sussex’s are clearly posing for the camera and trying to convince the public how natural and in love they are . It’s like everything they said about the Sussex’s that is negative is clearly a projection of the Cambridge’s their marriage is the one in deep trouble.

  98. Vanessa says:

  99. Amelie says:

I called this dress a “confused tablecloth” over at What Kate Wore and I got the badge of honor of having my comment edited by the admin lol. The top of the dress is actually very nice and it goes with the woodsy/fairy whimsical vibe I think Kate was going for. But when you see the full dress, it’s three different patterns in tiered sections and is a huge mess. Kate’s hair looks great here with the loose waves. And I like the all blue color scheme to showcase the ring.

I think the pictures are okay, not terrible. I just think it’s weird that Kate isn’t looking at the camera or at William. I give kudos to William for at least connecting with the viewer in the first show and for looking at Kate. But Kate is looking anywhere but at the camera or William and laughing at nothing which is just odd.

I liked Meghan and Harry’s birth announcement pic too, you can see how connected they are smiling at each other and I liked the casual clothes. But Harry’s foot is so prominent and draws your eye and is head looks like it’s sprouting a tree from it, the composition isn’t great.

    • Asking for a friend says:

Confused tablecloth is amazing! lol I like the dress too, but dowdy is her aesthetic and she can’t bring it to life.

  100. Robin says:

Is it a dress or a wrap round top and skirt? I think it’s meant to be the pale blue look of Meghan’s beautiful Oscar de la Renta. And, yes, that grip she has on his hand. You think someone would have told her twisting her husband’s hand skin didn’t look the best or, even if they didn’t think it wise to say anything at the time, they could have gone away and smoothed it out in the edit. Sometimes I wonder whether some of the articles and photos are subtle digs.

  101. Daisyfly says:

That second photo of them sitting is very telling
Their bodies are angled in the absolute opposite direction of each other. Not away, not skewed, but like they’re jumping at the bit to get the hell away from each other as soon as the camera clicks.

  102. Tessa says:

They trotted the kids out in a video. No surprises.

  103. Mrs. Smith says:

They just look brittle and stiff in these shots (which as someone pointed out above, selected from hundreds snapped). I’m not sure if they’re even touching each other? Her hand is on his shoulder but there is space between them. And the weird handhold in the other pic. If “celebrating 10 years in love” was the theme, it was not achieved.

    ETA: elbow, not shoulder!

  104. The Recluse says:

Those photos are THIS close to being the sort of generic pics you use in your online ads or in picture frames you buy at the store. Who is she looking at with that “I’m so happy it’s hilarious” smile anyway? At least he’s looking toward the camera.

  105. RoyalBlue says:

Baldimort looks exactly like Mr. Burns from the Simpsons in the picture where he is forced to look at Keen. So fugly!

    • Maria says:

A comment about him being Mr Burns was the one of the top comments in the Vogue Instagram post of these pics 😂😂😂

      • RoyalBlue says:

@Maria it was the very first thing that struck me. The nose and the profile shape of the semi-bald head and the overall slime appeal.

  106. RoyalBlue says:

The top picture makes me shudder. Baldimort certainly got the face he deserves. Seriously, if I were married to him and had to see that face lying on top of me it would never be missionary style, and only be doggie style every other weekend. If I were Keen, I would only have had George…..for England.

  107. Athena says:

I can’t believe in the tri-state area (US) one of the tv stations has a one hour special about Will and Kate’s anniversary. I’ll be interested to know what what the ratings are.

  108. Asking for a friend says:

My theory is that they think people want fakery and facade, like in the days of old. William’s thought bubble reads, ok I’ll touch you for just one more photo…eew. And she has those choppers on display because she likes to put on a show of what a royal should look like. Mannequin is right! Nothing with them seems genuine.

  109. Lizzie says:

Diana’s ring is front and center, that’s what I see in both pics. Also it’s kind of weird to choose such an iconic ring 100% associated with Diana as your own engagement ring. It probably should have been kept in storage for a generation.

  110. MMadison says:

It’s all to much. It’s as if they are trying to convince us they are so happy. I’m not buying it at all. William looks awful and Kate looks plastic. I’m sorry but they are sooooo boring.

  111. Why do the British media have to convince, assure and reassure the people of the world how happy and in love the Cambridges are? The whole world knows William cheated on Kate no matter how much William threatened the press to hide his illicit affair. It may have been kept from the British public by the British media but the whole world knows about William’s Rose. They know he cheated on his wife while she was pregnant and long before and after she was pregnant. It was an open secret among William’s aristocratic class who tolerated his indiscretion. So that on their 10the anniversary the British media overstates to persuade and prove how faithful, loyal and perfect the Cambridges are with and for each other by producing unrestrained cheesy photos and video of the sham marriage. And the BM even used the Sussexes to prove their point by juxtaposing pictures of unsmiling Meghan and Harry and labeling them unhappy. The truth of the matter is the Sussexes don’t need gushing PR to prove they’re blissful, content, stable, and in love. They just really are. Btw, memo to British media : don’t use the Sussexes to uplift the tarnished racist image of your William and Kate.
