When rock elder statesman Billy “William” Joel married twenty-something Katie Lee, everyone in the universe mumbled “gold digger.” So it was no surprise to anyone – even his own 20-something daughter– that after getting her 20 minutes of fame, including an appearance on Oprah, the couple was splitsville. But Billy doesn’t seem to learn from his mistakes, because just recently he was seen out on a date with yet another significantly younger woman – who looks a little like his last wife.
Billy Joel has a new girlfriend again. Monday night the piano man stepped out with a young, Katie Lee-esque brunette named Deborah Dampiere for the opening of ‘Tosca’ at the Metropolitan Opera.
Joel, who announced his split from third wife Lee in June, was dating former ‘Young and the Restless’ star Alex Donnelly just a few weeks later.
When reporters at the Met asked Joel about his divorce proceedings right in front of his date, he brushed off his publicist’s attempts to quiet them, The New York Observer reports.
“It’s a free country, she can ask whatever she wants,” he told the publicist. “How are the divorce proceedings going? I don’t know. Ask my lawyer.”
“For now, I’m enjoying dating this lovely lady,” he later added.
Well, that’s certainly a far cry from earlier reports that Billy is distraught over the separation, so I suppose that’s a positive, right? I am certainly no expert when it comes to relationships, being on husband number three myself, but here’s a little tip from me to Mr. Joel: if people are still asking you how the divorce proceedings are going, it MIGHT be a little too soon to be getting into another relationship. Just a thought. And, given how brilliantly your last 20-something wife played you to jump-start her own career, you may want to lay off the pretty young things for a while, too.
I see William Joel has not learnt his lesson.
Two women since the split? How charming he is. Why does this woman (besides the cash) want to date a man who is just separated and not even divorced? I saw Katie got the good end of the deal with her freedom from this shriveled old man.
Hell, if Joel wants to date younger women and waste his money, it’s his beeswax and no one else’s.
Would I be dating in the midst of a divorce? No, but I guess he is the type of man who needs a younger woman around to stroke his ego, and other things, and if he is okay with being fleeced, well good for him.

The part i don’t get is the “taking her on Oprah to show off” bit. Go ahead, rich older man, and date all the young tail you can get. But don’t try to convince us it’s a deep abiding love. We’re not that stupid. Just keep it to yourself next time you get laid, okay?

I think Billy Joel does not know how to be alone , like a lot of celebrity’s and he is really inmature to top it all so he needs someone that he feels equal too in a maturity level and not inadequate , but I’m not a professional and I’m just saying my opinnion.
To me she does not look as young as his last wife. And really, who cares who he dates? I would just love to see him happy and settled for once. I have enjoyed his music for years.

I don’t have a problem with him dating younger women, none of my business, doesn’t effect me, etc, but he may want to keep an eye on his dwindling bank account unless he wants to end up like one of the Duke brothers in “Coming to America”.

When I was a little kid I remember overhearing my aunt say to my mother, “There’s no such thing as an ugly millionaire.” It’s funny how much thought a 6 year old can put into that statement which is of course “Duh!” when you’re 46. So I guess BJ has to get them old enough to know what that means and young enough not to be jaded about it.

I know that many men of a certain age go for the younger women. Good for them. If they want to remain 25 years old in perpetuity it’s none of my business. But as an over forty mature, fit and intelligent female, I can tell you that I wouldn’t touch a guy like that with a ten foot pole and I think that other women my age would feel the same way. Give me a guy who wears his years well, is confident sexually and knows how to have a decent conversation. What a pain in the a** a guy would be that constantly needs his ego stroked, that equates confidence with being able to boink women younger than his daughter, that needs to be with someone immature and not emotionally challenging. He can’t get a decent woman closer to his own age so he has to go for the ones that only love his money, not him. How pathetic.

I saw the Oprah show when Katie Lee was on it and it distinctly looked like he wasn’t that comfortable being on it and the air I got from Oprah was if Billy hadn’t agreed to appear then Katie was getting the time of day. I can imagine Katie begging Billy to agree, yeah I think that’s pretty much how it went down ha ha.

Aahhh, she’s not that young. William has alcohol problems. That probably explains his peter pan complex – those guys get stuck emotionally at whatever age it was they started to use unless they really get serious about recovery. He does look pretty silly with his chest all puffed up. Good call on that one.
