Kanye West is really living in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium to complete ‘Donda’

I honestly thought this was a joke when I first heard it, like there’s no way this can be real. But it is real. Last week, Kanye West threw a “listening party” for his still-unfinished album Donda. The listening party was at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Well… it seems like Kanye has not left the stadium since the listening party. He’s renting a “private space” within the stadium and he’s hellbent on completing the album there. Phantom of the Opera? More like Yeezy of the Stadium.

Kanye West is living inside Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium until he finishes his new album, “Donda.” But where exactly? In a sleeping bag on the Falcons’ 50-yard line? An insider would only tell us of his location inside the 71,000-seat stadium: “He’s in a private space inside the building.”

Sources told Page Six that there’s a suite in the building with an official stadium placard outside the door that reads, “Donda Studio at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.”

The eccentric “Closed on Sunday” rapper hosted a sold-out listening party at the stadium last week and planned to release his new music on Friday. But the hotly anticipated album drop was delayed, and Kanye has since remained holed up at the massive venue to finish the recording.

West is known for his high-end taste in interior design. Famed light artist James Turrell consulted on his Wyoming ranch, and top designer Axel Vervoordt created his California home with Kim Kardashian. Some state-of-the-art stadiums have actual hotels inside, but not the Atlanta arena. For events, the stadium’s suites come with private restrooms, plus catering and VIP parking. But beds don’t seem to be an option, according to the brochures online.

At Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta in 2018, Courtyard by Marriott turned a field-level suite at the stadium into a hotel room for a lucky contest winner to sleep over and wake up on game day with a view of the field.

West’s conversion of stadium space into a private recording studio could also be part of a rap trend: Drake recently took a date to dinner at Dodgers Stadium and rented out the whole place to put a table for two on the field.

While I don’t have any experiences in the rarefied air of “rich people renting out stadiums,” it does seem like most modern stadiums already have set-ups for VIP spaces and easily-convertible “apartment-like” areas. It’s not like Kanye is renting out the entire bloody stadium for months just to complete an album. He’s renting a space inside the stadium and haunting all of the events in the stadium. And in this labyrinth/Where night is blind/The Yeezy of the Stadium is there/inside my mind.

Wow he seems like he is struggling. Tortured artist indeed. I wish him well.

The undies over the face is how you can tell he’s a genius.

His new look is two parts Kool-Aid Man, one part amateur bank robber.

That red puffy jacket is part of his Gap Yeezy line. It’s like 200 bucks for that sh*t. This man needs help. He’s surrounded by a$$ kissers. He needs someone to give him a good does of reality. This is not normal behavior. I heard he hasn’t changed his clothes since the listening party. I can see months from now he’ll try to sell that outfit at an auction because he wore it while creating the best album of all time lol.

    • There is a hilarious/sad picture of him wandering around in the same clothes (coat and all) and face stocking on TMZ at some random event in the stadium the next (Or day after that?) day. The face on the bystanders says it all. You are at some random ball game and he comes wandering by, it’s “Holy wtf?!” for sure. I really hope he can get help. I feel for those kids watching their dad and all his hangers-on who so clearly do not have his best interests at heart.

Cosmo says he has a private chef with him so he’s in that tiny room by choice

I’m not a fan and think he’s one of the most pretentious celebs of recent memory, but please someone get this man the help he needs.

There’s no one around him who would advocate for this. Kim could but I think she’s done with him. Everyone else is getting paid by him so they’ll just do whatever he wants.

  9. Stef says:

This seems like a strange stunt and for what purpose? He hasn’t out our any good music in a while so I have no hopes for this album. I hope he’s getting the help he clearly needs.

    • ME says:

I think he truly believes the world is holding their breath waiting for the album drop. Dude we got more important things to worry about than your damn album. He seems to put a lot of pressure on himself as if he truly believes he is Jesus and everything he does must be perfect. He needs help…professional help.
