The Met Gala is September 13, having been pushed back from May because of the pandemic. This year’s co-chairs are Amanda Gorman, Tom Ford, Timothee Chalamet, Billie Eilish and Naomi Osaka. The theme is “American fashion.” People are starting to get hyped for it, which is why we have some gossip about who will be attending. Can I just say? I’ve really manifested so much of the Bennifer Revival, and I’ve been saying for months that we need to get them to the Met Gala. Well, it looks like Jennifer Lopez is scheduled to appear. Now she just needs to bring Ben.

The Met Ball is supposed to be fashion’s biggest night. But will a tabloid sensation steal the headlines? Page Six has learned that Jennifer Lopez is planning to attend — meaning the biggest question for the next few weeks will be whether she and rekindled flame Ben Affleck will make their first red carpet appearance together at the fashionable bash in September.

Lopez is a regular at Vogue’s glamorous gala. She first attended in 2004, when she was dressed by Dolce and Gabbana. Since then she has rarely skipped the fête, attending 2006-2008, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2017-2019.

The event, also known as the “Fashion Oscars,” is normally held in May but was pushed back this year in hopes that things would get more “normal.” While it will reportedly be a smaller and more intimate affair this year due to Covid-19, a glittery guest list is starting to come together.

We hear that those making the cut include Anna Wintour favorite Rihanna, whose looks from past galas — like a yellow gown by Guo Pei — have become iconic; and actress Lupita Nyong’o, who has appeared on multiple Vogue covers. The source tells us model Emily Ratajkowski (who announced her pregnancy with a Vogue digital cover) and hit “Havana” singer Camila Cabello have also made the envied list.

This year’s gala will be taking safety precautions. A spokesperson for the Met told The Daily Beast Tuesday, “Currently, all attendees at The Met Gala on September 13 must provide proof of full vaccination and will also be expected to wear masks indoors except when eating or drinking. We will update these guidelines as needed.”

We’re told that the invite-only event — with solo tickets reportedly costing $30,000 and tables going for $275,000 — has already sold out.

Emily Ratajkowski will attend the opening of an envelope, so she’s not the “get” that Page Six seems to think she is. She’s a model for hire, of course she’s going. And of course Rihanna will go and I can’t wait to see what Tom Ford or Jason Wu or Ralph Lauren makes for her (American designers, remember). As for J.Lo and whether she’ll bring Ben… apparently, he’s due to appear at the Venice Film Festival to promote The Last Duel, and some of us have wondered if J.Lo will be his plus-one in Venice. I would love that, but my gut tells me that they’ll probably wait for the Met Gala to make their first red-carpet appearance of the year.
