Looking forward to checking out the buzzfeed article.
Also, can we please discuss the jeopardy host BS? One of the producers in charge chose himself as host…white guy for the win! I’m p*ssed about the inside job shenanigans and I don’t even watch jeopardy every day.

    • Green Desert says:

Seriously. So shady. I was really hoping for LeVar Burton.

      • Jais says:

Me too. I was def for Levar all the way but I understand whatever choice they made was gonna get people hype. But this, picking the exec producer, just has me feeling gross. The Twitter response has been funny but it’s just gross.

      • rainbowkitty says:

Yep. I feel like everyone was hoping for Burton. 🙁

      • lucy2 says:

Same. Should have been Levar. I just listened to him on a podcast the other day, I so enjoy his interviews. My brother and I watched Reading Rainbow religiously as kids.

      • candy says:

LeVar did a great job and he had the same impartial (yet enthusiastic) tone as Alex Trebek! They may have to go through a few hosts before they come to their senses. I hope the show continues because I really love it.

    • Becks1 says:

Have we heard for sure that’s definitely what’s happening? I’ve seen reports about it but nothing definite. I didn’t mind Richards as a host actually, and obviously someone like Savannah Guthrie wasn’t guest-hosting as an “audition” and I know it was fun for the guest hosts to do it – but even so it feels like a giant waste of time, why go through all that and get people excited about the possibility for someone different (someone non-white, a woman) when you’re going with the white male exec producer anyway?

As an aside, I know he’s winning tons of money and that’s supposed to be fun, but I’m not enjoying Matt. It’s not fun to watch at this point. My husband thinks I’m crazy lol.

      • Chicken Tetrazzini! says:

lol, because I put the olympics on when I’m home, I’ve seen more jeopardy the last two weeks than I have in the last two years and yeah, Matt’s annoying. I was also a little disappointed in Lavar, but he didn’t get much of a chance to find his groove so I tempered that. I really don’t want a smarmy rich white dude hosting. Great opportunity missed there and it could kill the show to be honest.

      • Jais says:

No it’s not for sure yet just sources so yeah grain of salt. It was just like why all of this if you’re just getting the exec producer you prob wanted in the first place? Sure, if there was overwhelming love for him but idk if there is? Maybe there is? Idk.

      • Becks1 says:

@Jais I don’t think there is, lol. If you had said to me “mike richards is the next host” I would have said who? And like I said I liked him as a guest host. It was only when I saw a picture of him that I remembered who he was – and while I liked him, I didnt really have any strong feelings about him, I sort of had assumed he was just filling in a blank two week span that they had, not that he was actually being considered. Why get people excited about all these other potential hosts (I even liked Aaron Rodgers lol) and then you stick with him?

      • pottymouth pup says:

I didn’t catch Burton’s guest hosting performance. Did anyone else see him to be able to say how he did. I saw one guy on twitter reply that he likes Burton but that he was a horrible fit as a guest host (something I find hard to believe unless I hear it from other fans)

      • Jais says:

He was good but didn’t perfectly flow if that makes sense. Like it takes time and some of the other hosts got 2 weeks so that they flowed by the second week and prob he would’ve too. But he was only given one week.

      • Becks1 says:

I didn’t love Levar as much as I had expected, but I do think cutting the time to one week for someone like him who people really wanted to see was a poor decision. It took a lot of the hosts most of the first week to get the swing of it.

      • Agreatreckoning says:

@Becks1-that’s funny that you mention Matt because we’re having a hard time cheering for him even he knows a lot of stuff. Like that he’s willing to gamble.

David Faber is doing a good job this week. We liked LeVar and appreciated his patience before confirming an answer was correct. He was congenial & related to the contestants well. One more week would have been nice. I really liked Robin Roberts and Anderson Cooper. Katie & Savannah were a little meh to me. Dr.’s Oz & Gupta-felt disjointed. Rodgers was a little monotonal (if that’s the right word) but appreciated some of his humor. Whitaker and Buzzy did well. I’m also feeling the need to say, Mike Richards, who?

  2. Bettyrose says:

A second season would be great. Her character is a detective so no reason it can’t be a new mystery each season. I’d love an update on how Siobhan’s life is going.

  3. minx says:

Great news about Mare. Seems like there would still be plenty of stories to be told.

  4. Green Desert says:

Would love another season of Mare. I don’t think it needs to remain a limited series, unlike some others (Big Little Lies). New case to solve every season!

  5. Tiffany :) says:

I loved the show, I would absolutely watch a 2nd season. More Kate Winslet and Jean Smart? YES PLEASE!

  6. August Rain says:

I know I’m the minority but I don’t understand the hype of Mare of E. It was ok but very obvious in what character was going to be dissected next
It annoys me a bit that bc a superstar plays a cop with a “real” body and personality suddenly it’s as if no one else did it. I think of The Bridge, even Law and Order and The Killing amongst others.
However I do think Winslet was amazing in it.

    • KL says:

Agree re: Kate Winslet’s performance, but I also really didn’t like the show. Mare spent most of the season being a complete jerk to everyone for no reason, the entire subplot with the baby daddy went nowhere, and the whole thing with the custody battle over the grandson felt really emotionally manipulative.

      • August Rain says:

        ITA!

      • Agreatreckoning says:

Custody battles are emotionally manipulative. @August Rain, The Killing was a really good series and Mare of E is similar to that. I’m up for another season.

      • KL says:

@Agreatreckoning By emotionally manipulative, I’m mostly talking about the scene where they faked out the kid drowning in the tub. It was totally unnecessary and just there to upset and turn you against the grandson’s mom who, honestly, was trying her best. I felt like the show was pushing us to hate her for trying to clean up her life and get her son back. Then in the end it just was like, “Welp, she relapsed because she… was tired? Who cares! Storyline over, Mare wins!” I thought it was lazy and gross.

      • Agreatreckoning says:

That was a panicky scene to watch. Personally, I didn’t feel dislike for her in that scene. Felt some anger at Mare when she planted the drugs.

  7. Jessica says:

Billie Eilish’s album is Happier Than Ever, not Better Than Ever, although she is and it is.

    • lucy2 says:

Going to listen to it now. I really enjoyed her first album, hope this one is good too.

I’d go for a second season of Mare. Great performances.

  8. North of Boston says:

    Snack food I’m missing?
    Absolutely! O’Coco’s.

They were these perfect little crispy chocolate wafers.
They were sweet but not to sweet, and had a dusting of cocoa and sugar so that flavor really hit your taste buds. They also had a version with cinnamon
They came in single serve 90 calorie bags, so they were great to stash at work or in your go-bag and were always crispy.

The company that made them was bought by Mars, who mothballed the product. Grrr!

I think Mars first bought Seeds of Change which was a fantastic small organic seed, growing supply and grain producer, which then bought O’Coco’s
… I remember thinking “oh good, my favorite seed catalog company has bought my favorite snack food company” until I realized they’d both been gobbled up by Mars, producer of ‘chocolate flavored ‘ HFCS candy 🙁

  9. Chicken Tetrazzini! says:

I was obsessed with Vienetta which was discontinued in the states in the 90’s and was a childhood highlight. They just re-released it and I finally found it and was kinda disappointed. Maybe because it used to embody the Christmases of my youth, but it just didn’t hit the same

  10. Darla says:

Wow that Tom and Lorenzo podcast was amazing. They really turned me against Damon even more. I had NO idea he said gay actors should stay in the closet. They really let loose. I enjoyed listening, very smart and funny.

  11. pottymouth pup says:

I”m going to age myself by saying that I’m still bitter that Doo Dads were discontinued. Doo dads were the original snack mix and vastly superior to Chex Mix

  12. Kath says:

Did anyone here see that Messi was not signed for another year in Barcelona?? Don’t know who follows football here but I am shocked

    • Lola says:

He already wanted to leave last year and they had a really bitter fight and basically forced him into staying although they previously promised him he could invoke a free agent clause if he wanted to. I’m not very surprised, the whole club is in a shambles, he doesn’t have that many years left at the top of the game. I’m not surprised he does not want to waste his time if he’s not convinced by the rebuild they’ve tried to do so far. Also, their finances are in tatters. It’s said he was willing to take a pay cut, but he may have needed to take more of a pay cut than he was willing to. Especially since, again, his top playing years may be coming to a close and then he’ll have to think more about money and supporting his family.

      • Becks1 says:

My boys are going to need to some new soccer kits lol. SO many different Messi kits. (Some Argentina but most Barcelona).

    • FrenchGirl says:

Even Messi is shocked.Apparently his agent (and father ) learnt Barca didn’t renew when He went to sign.
Paris’s PSG is negociating to have Messi

  13. The Recluse says:

I really enjoyed The Green Knight this past weekend. It was a welcome change of pace from what I usually watch. It lingered in my mind for hours afterward.

  14. Bella says:

I was disappointed in lavar Burton’s guest host stint. I wanted to love him, but he just didn’t mesh.

We watch Jeopardy religiously. We recorded. The whole family sits around and tries to answer them before each other.

If the producer is put as the new host? I’ll never watch again. He’s smarmy

  15. Monica says:

Re discontinued “food”: I miss Orbit Mint Mojito gum. Almost like drinking on the job!
