Brad Pitt is the new face of De’Longhi coffee, he drinks three cappuccinos a day

Brad Pitt is the new face of De’Longhi coffee. It reminds me a little bit of George Clooney’s Nespresso endorsement? To promote his new gig, Brad spoke to Esquire about style, coffee and how he would only do this kind of commercial if he could ensure that he’s not “shoving it down people’s throats.” The point is that Brad is elusive and cool and he’s not walking around as a conspicuous consumer. Which is very generational – kids today don’t mind walking around, looking like a billboard. But for people in Brad’s generation, there is nothing more gauche. Some highlights from this Esquire piece:

His style: “If I have a style, it’s no style. I like monochrome, without it being a uniform. I like simplicity. I like the details in the stitching, the way it feels. If anything, that’s the only divining rod I have.”

He despises billboards: “It’s led by comfort. I like the feel of a Lecia camera or the way a watch feels. I don’t want to look ostentatious, but if you come close, you notice. I like how the lining feels. It’s those details that are important to me. It’s too exhausting to follow trends. And I despise billboards; I just don’t want to be billboard.”

His gig with De’Longhi. “I am a serious, professional, committed coffee drinker. Usually a three-cappuccino drinker in the morning, and depending on the work in the afternoon, I might switch over to an espresso.”

Why he chose to work with De’Longhi. “I try to do very few of these things. But for me, it made sense to take a ride with De’Longhi. When you have confidence in your product, you don’t have to shove it down people’s throats. You can do it nicely.”

Being 57 years old: “You get older, you get crankier, and comfort becomes more important. I think it’s as simple as that.”

[From Esquire]

Three cappuccinos every morning, then espresso on top of that?? Granted, I’ve never been much of a coffee drinker, but that seems excessive. I wonder if that’s Brad’s replacement-addiction – he’s apparently on the wagon, and maybe he’s just replaced alcohol with coffee. Caffeine is the last great legal addiction. As for “I despise billboards; I just don’t want to be billboard” – dude is 57 years old and still hyper-concerned about “selling out.” Anyway, he’s gotta pay alimony and child support somehow, so that’s what this is.

Here’s the commercial for De’Longhi. It was directed by Damien Chazelle and the music is by Justin Hurwitz. It feels like an ad for motorcycles more than coffee.

    Okay, not-Boomer.

  2. Noki says:

My sister drank a ton of coffee when she stopped heavy drinking. I think coffee, coke (the drink) and chocolate seemed to give some kind of comfort to her until she had to find better and healthier options.

  3. BUBUCHICK says:

SO COMFORTING. Love coffee, I do the same but lattes. Nespresso.

  4. Mireille says:

He doesn’t like billboards, but life-size images of him modeling Brioni clothes were plastered all over bus stops in New York City last year.

  5. JanetDR says:

If I could afford it, I’d drink 3 clevr blends coffee in the morning! It’s so smooth and there is something comforting about it.

  6. Merricat says:

Billboards are a blight on the land, in my opinion. We should get rid of all of them.

    • Lady D says:

They should have disappeared with the 20th century.

    • Meg says:

I remember studying abroad in southern france and spain when i was 20 in 2005, and after 10 days we saw our first ad at a bus stop. It was shocking as we hadnt missed seeing ads lol so we hadn’t noticed their absence until we saw one. It was so refreshing to not be inundated with info

    • North of Boston says:

The worst are the electronic billboards- visual noise pollution, light pollution and distracting to drivers between the light and the changing ads or animation in a single ad.

    • Wiglet Watcher says:

Maine has always had a law banning billboards. They disrupted the natural scenery.
Lately, signs have gotten bigger and more rectangular… advertisements always seem to creep in.

  7. Maxime duCamp says:

I’ve been drinking coffee since I was 5, granted at that age is was mostly milk. I was a child that hated milk and that was probably the only way my mom could get me to drink it. I typically have at least 3 cups of coffee but sometimes have 4 or 5 and I would consider that within the normal range, if admittedly at the higher end of the range. The 19th century French novelist Victor Hugo purportedly drank 30 cups of coffee a day; now that is excessive! To bad, Hugo didn’t live in the time of endorsements.

    • Lady D says:

I worked with a lady who drank 40 cups of coffee every single day. She filled a 30 cup urn in the morning, and made a little 10 cup pot for after dinner. She also smoked 3 packs a day. She made to 53.

    • Finny says:

I was a heavy coffee drinker for 10 years when I was working split shifts. Then one day after already 15 cups at work (shift ended at 3pm), a friend and I went shopping and stopped in a coffee bar. I had another 4 espressos and the worse caffeine hangover in my life. My heart was racing so fast I thought it would jump out of my chest, I felt sick and like s..t. After that I drastically cut down on my coffee consumption. I had withdrawal symptoms but I felt better overall after I got through them. Now I only have one coffee in the morning (french press) and maybe once in a while one in the afternoon. Caffeine addiction is real.

“Brad Pitt is the new face of De’Longhi coffee“

Note to self: NEVER DRINK DE’LONGHI COFFEE.

    • Lilly (with the double-L) says:

@Mads my very first thought too. I know what coffee not to buy now.

    • Pinellas Pixie says:

That was my exact thought. Add me to this list, please

    • ClaireB says:

I know, right? What’s he promoting, their Narcissistic Abuser blend? Ooh, sign me up!

    • LillyfromLillooet says:

ha ha ha–as the only Brad stan on this site, I have to say, I love the styling, I love the branding they are creating here, I love his interview and I think he looks great, and yeah, I am totally going to drink De’Longhi after this.

    • Nancy says:

Delonghi sells coffee and espresso machines not the actual coffee. And they are excellent machines. Love my Delonghi espresso maker.
Does anyone actually buy a product because of a famous person advertising it? I usually buy a brand based on price & quality not on who is in a commercial.

      • North of Boston says:

And they also make machines that are co-branded, for example for some Nespresso machines, there are 2 versions – the DeLongi version and another one … whose name has slipped my mind.

(ETA it’s Breville, and I have the DeLonghi version of the Essentia Mini, which I quite like … and it came with a Nespresso frothed that I absolutely love)

    • fluffy_bunny says:

Never heard of it but absolutely on my list of not to buy. But I use a $10 coffee pot and buy the coffee they use at Disney so I’m probably not their target demographic.

    • Leah says:

Maybe the coffee has more substance than Pitt but I’m never going to know.

    • Kaykay says:

      lol

  9. Eurydice says:

I kinda hafta smile at “my style”, because he would always change his style to suit whichever woman he was with at the time. But ok, at 57 maybe he’s finally found his style. BTW, the camera name is spelled “Leica”.

  10. JEM says:

    I just cannot stand him.

  11. Bookie says:

I know we like to dunk on him – but, damn! He is fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine.

    • Chanteloup says:

imho he comes across as the giant douche he is in the ad, but the still shots are objectively nice.
I’ll never buy anything he advertises, so there’s that.

Maybe he should try shutting up and just standing there smiling prettily [I say this tongue in cheek b/c this is what abusive men are always telling women]

    • bros says:

      Totally. I still would.

      • LaurenMichelle says:

Brad is trying to earn a living and support his family. I like this ad, and it’s authentic because he does ride motorcycles. Damn, he looks good. He is gonna be 58 soon, and I I would too if I wasn’t married. I recently watched OUATIH and he was excellent. Even my husband said Brad did a great job!

      • Sierra says:

@Lauren: the family he threw out of their home and refused to allow them to get their things?

The family he loaned with money (with interest) so that they weren’t homeless and could get a roof over their heads?

The family were he refused to pay even 50% of the children’s expenses?

He works for that family? Yeah right…

      • Bleh says:

More like he has legal and overtime PR fees to pay off. He doesn’t support his family and I’m guessing his kids don’t care to accept things from him.

    • teecee says:

Part of the reason people take his side over Angie’s is because he looks good, so I don’t see the point in denying that. But it is just a mask.

    • North of Boston says:

Pretty is as pretty does, and his behavior has made him MUCH less attractive to me.

  12. forgotuser12 says:

war tank on display. wonderful. thanks for letting me know which coffee NOT to drink

    • Cellmate says:

It’s also curious that he chooses to wear all these jewelry pieces to cover up the children’s initials. Also how does he think his kids are feeling about the war tank pointing at Angelina’s former initial, no wonder they don’t want to spend time with him.

Plus, I wouldn’t want my children around him and his weird friends circle, between the one artist friend who killed his wife and then himself last year, plus this creepy Thomas H. (his art therapist) who tried to kill himself with a rock last year after his wife left him and now lives with Pitt and follows him everywhere. They are a bunch of toxic assholes and abusers.

      • Meg says:

I guess im just surprised hed want that so prominently featured in an ad? He’d just play dumb saying theyre not her initials?

      • forgotuser12 says:

I think because he doesn’t want to remind people that he’s a “father” to 6. He hasn’t been seen with them since the divorce and that will make people wonder. He doesn’t come off very bright so I can’t imagine he would question why the war tank pointing at the former initial of the mother of his kids would ever bother them.

The company you keep tells a lot about you and I think he needs real therapy, not art therapy (that doesn’t seem to be working).

      • Tianafora says:

I didn’t know about his friends. No wonder they don’t feel safe with him and require supervised visitation. I guess we never know when there’s so few details out in the media.

  13. Lizzie says:

I love coffee but I’ve never been a coffee snob. Basic coffee is all I want. If it’s flavored, like hazelnut, I love the smell nut not the taste.

  14. Nikki* says:

He actually repulses me, but seeing him with a cup of coffee in hand seemed almost appealing. Maybe if he had a cup of coffee in one hand, and a puppy in the other, I could almost feel positive…

    • Jais says:

Objectively, I think he looks good but knowing what I know about the custody battle etc, the sight of him makes me feel super cringey. Everything he said was kind of pretentious but there was one major point I agreed upon. The older you get the crankier you get and you just want comfort. 100%+++ agree with that lol.

  15. Sierra says:

No alimony and only child support that too only 50% of the children’s expenses.

It’s all in the official court documents that Angelina didn’t request alimony.

  16. Krystina says:

My sister-in-law has a De’Longhi coffee machine. It’s AMAZING. I wish I could afford one, lol.
    I’m a heavy coffee drinker.

  17. Dail says:

    He is beautiful tho

  18. Jenny says:

Whelp. Photo shop is his friend. He looks outrageously hot.

  19. JennyJenny says:

I have a DeLonghi Nespresso machine, so I use the pods, not beans.

And I must say, it makes an amazing cappuccino, along with lattes and espressos. It is truly one of my guilty pleasures!

  20. Shari says:

I loved the commercial. He looks great.

  21. iconoclast59 says:

“Three cappuccinos every morning, then espresso on top of that?? Granted, I’ve never been much of a coffee drinker, but that seems excessive. I wonder if that’s Brad’s replacement-addiction – he’s apparently on the wagon, and maybe he’s just replaced alcohol with coffee.”

Yep. That’s why AA meetings are awash in coffee and cigarettes. Re: the latter, I only went to a couple of open AA meetings many years ago when I was part of ACoA. I suppose most meetings are non-smoking now, unless they allow vaping.

  22. LeonsMomma says:

Maybe he can use some of the money he makes from this to help the families who have his shitty Make It Right homes. I wonder how the ones left handled Hurricane Ida?

  23. Esmerelda says:

De Longhi is an Italian brand which was super cheesy and silly in the 80s, not upscale at all. Google “Caldobagno DeLonghi 80” if you want a laugh. It’s not famous for its coffee at all. Pitt must need the money for lawyers 😉
How the mighty have fallen, from Chanel to this!

    • Pamplemousse says:

I mean, I can think of quite a few brands that have put a good deal of daylight between their humble beginnings and their current more upscale iteration. Being considered tacky 30 years ago is hardly an indictment today.

  24. Aphra says:

This ad is stupid and boring, and I know a lot of people hate him here (and we ALL love AJ best), but… he is a good looking guy. Can’t argue with that. Phew.

  25. Meg says:

Is the tattoo on his arm of a tank? Facing angies initials?

  26. SM says:

I dunno. I am a coffee lover. But I believe that if you are a real coffee lover you drink black coffee/espresso in order to enjoy the flavour. Cappuccinos are like a desert, not a coffee.

  27. OriginalCarol says:

Pitt is dragging out this long ass custody battle just to punish his ex and to put a gag order on her not spill the ugly details of how he abused her and the kids during their marriage. Image is everything to him.

  28. Sarah I says:

Is it my age that made it so I never thought he was hot? I thought him a cute kid years ago, and years to me usually make a man more interesting….but not him. I think he is a poseur. I can tell you men I think are really hot. Ed Harris in his prime. Couldn’t help himself…he is just sexy. David Morse I still love. John Seigenthaler is adorable and in his 60’s. Wouldn’t I love to go on a dinner date with him. Loved him when he was on the weekend news. Now there’s a man of substance with real looks, and he looks sweet and interesting. Oh yes, and he looks interested. I used to hear that an interesting person is someone who is interested in others. : )

  29. Chaine says:

“Here I am, driving out alone on my motorcycle, sitting at a table for one, and returning to my giant empty house to drink my coffee by my solitary self because MY KIDS HATE ME”

  30. Barbie1 says:

    Shut it Brad.

  31. Sandy says:

Brad is still handsome, I will always admired the way he is, so humble and creative, he didn’t rely on his good looks, everyone who has ever come into contact with him have nothing but nice things to say about him, that says a lot, he’s been in the business for decades.

  32. ML says:

I’m slightly fuzzy on the details, but I believe Brad did something so egregious to his son that the police were called when he and his family were returning from France. He then commandeered a baggage truck or some other airport vehicle to escape. Angie immediately filed for divorce after this incident, and Brad was barred from seeing his kids alone for years. Personally, I can’t see a guy like that as sexy if he did something like that, and in my eyes he becomes less good-looking.
Coffee: this is usually seen as healthy in Europe! In fact, 3 to 4 cups of coffee is average (though 3 cappuccinos is extreme). A close friend (began in his late 30s) of ours has gone through bouts of colorectal and esophageal cancer. At Erasmus MC, they highly advised him to keep up his coffee habit as coffee drinkers have a much better chance at fighting the cancer. Same with a nurse mom at my kid’s school who came down with liver cancer potentially through acquiring hepatitis from her job. The advice is caffeinated until early afternoon, decaf or none later in the day. Many Europeans I know can drink normal coffee all day and sleep. I can’t.

  33. Anonymous says:

OriginalCarol: I think you are right but it looks like AJ is going to start talking a bit more. She was interviewed for her book release. She said she can’t get into specifics, but she feared for her family’s safety. They asked her how the last five years have been. She answered by saying the last 10 were hard. That is super telling. Per her statement the fear was happening for a while (last 5 yrs of their relationship).

  34. SoSoShy says:

    OMG! Cheesiest ad EVER.

    And I ❤️ it! Brad’s hustling.

    Make your money, B!

    ☕️☕️☕️ (3 cups my arse).

    Salud.

  35. superbass says:

Yeah, with the amount of calories in a cappuccino? I highly doubt it.

  36. Monica says:

He shoulda stopped after Inglorious Basterds.

  37. Ann says:

I’d say he is objectively very good-looking but he never did anything for me, and I like him way less now than I did before I knew he was a douche.

I have nothing against the coffee, though. Never tried it. I drink 2-3 cups a day, with almond or oat milk, just plain coffee made on a Keurig. I used to go to Starbucks when I first started drinking coffee in my 30s, now I just make it at home. I do get the Starbucks brand, though, a lot of the time. It’s just habit.

On the topic of billboard – I don’t mind a few here and there but they are everywhere on the highways and main roads in Houston and I hate it. So ugly.

  38. NotSoSocialButterfly says:

“We. Do. Not. Care”– a la the tiktok song/meme.

  39. Hmm says:

Child abuser. Y’all falling for that airbrush tool lol

  40. lolalola3 says:

I’m a 3 espresso morning drinker. It takes 2 to fill a proper coffee mug so it is less than 2 cups of coffee. And Nespresso all the way. My dad gave me a Nespresso several Christmases ago. I love it so much I’d marry it.
