Normani in Valentino at the Met Gala: beautiful and striking?

Valentino’s dresses can be hit or miss in that they’re often giant and can overwhelm some women. I’m thinking of Laura Dern and even Jennifer Lopez in Valentino, although those just could have been bad gowns. Normani owns this voluminous mustard colored Valentino though. She just performed at attended the VMAs the night before this! Both events are in New York, but that’s got to be tiring for these celebrities and they’re still turning up looking amazing. I love the shoulders and the gathered fabric on this dress and look at her emeralds! I hope she looked Camila Cabello up and down and then turned back to the famous person she was talking to.

Whoopi Goldberg had on a tent of a purple tiered Valentino, but she’s Whoopi and that’s kind of cool. I like the contrasting purple and teal at the neckline and the fact that it’s paired with green gloves. She told Ilana Glazer that she loved her hair and it reminded her of the hair from when she was younger. Carey Mulligan was also in Valentino, in a bright pink princess gown with an off the shoulder cape. It looks like a fairy tale gown.

Janet Mock was in this low cut cornflower blue Valentino with a floral quilt-like wrap. I wish the dress was more fitted but I like the wrap.

Also in Valentino was Nicola Peltz, with fiance Brooklyn Beckham. This is so fabulously 60s with her hair, styling and those gloves.

And finally Anna Wintour’s pregnant daughter, Bee Carrozzini. Adorable and glam.

I actually like all of these, with Normani’s being my favorite. They’re big and there’s a lot of pink and a lot of taffeta (sorry to the pink lovers, its not my favorite) and Whoopi’s look is very Whoopi lol but I like them all. They’re very Met gala to me.

Normani looked great in that color but the star was the diamond & emerald necklace which was to die for. I don’t even know what to say about Whoopi’s sense of fashion. It’s beginning to look like she just tosses on whatever comforter is lying on her bed

Normani is stunning in this dress! Love everything about the look. One of the best ballgown looks of the evening.

  4. Ohlala says:

All so beautiful BUT… how does any of the looks go with the theme?

  5. Seaflower says:

I’m sorry to say Nicola Peltz outfit reminds me of one of those cheap stretchy lacy leotards/body suits we wore in the 80’s. They aren’t good memories either.

These are all beautiful and I love that yellow/mustard looking one, that large emerald with it is amazing.

Normani has the best look of the evening, in my opinion. Anna Wintour’s kid looks like an extra in a costume drama.

    Normani stole the show.

  9. sally says:

Nicola Peltz was one of my fave on theme looks, she leaned into her blonde all-American looks and fully went debutante Barbie. While still looking beautiful an not as if she wore a costume. Kudos!

    Normani looks absolutely incredible here.

Normani won the whole damn thing for me, although I also loved Debbie Harry’s look. And Lil Nas X. And Iman. ANYWAY: I gasped when I saw Normani. Just utter dramatic perfection.
