The Sussexes ‘behaved like superstars’ & took a private plane back to California

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Visit The World Trade Center

The British media was on the outside looking in as the Montecito royals pulled off a flawless royal tour of New York. Prince Harry and Madame Duchess Meghan organized their own schedule and highlighted the issues they wanted. They paid respect at the 9/11 Memorial and boosted tourism. They appeared at the Global Citizen festival and got a huge ovation. They had meetings with public health officials and United Nations officials, and continued to promote vaccine equity. And all the Daily Mail could do was have a series of meltdowns about Meghan’s coats, jewelry and fashion. The British media is now digging in with an argument that “virtue signaling” Meghan and Harry were terrible because they flew back to California on a private plane.

Harry and Meghan have touched down in Santa Barbara, California to be reunited with their children Archie and Lilibet after their whirlwind tour of New York – after a wire poking out of Harry’s pocket suggests the trip will be part of their multi-million dollar Netflix deal.

Exclusive pictures obtained by DailyMail.com show the Duke and Duchess of Sussex returning home Saturday night. Touching down in their private jet, the virtue signaling couple and fossil fueled ‘eco-warriors’ embraced members of staff who had accompanied them on the pseudo royal tour before heading back to their Montecito mansion.

Meghan look-a-like, and CEO of the couple’s Archewell organization Mandana Dayani was among the staff whom the Sussex fondly hugged goodbye at Santa Barbara’s private airport Saturday.

[From The Daily Mail]

Much like the word “woke,” I do not believe these salty British people understand what “virtue signaling” actually means. These pieces are just being written by a bunch of 50-something white men who half-remembered some terminology on The Root. Anyway, yes, Harry and Meghan took a private plane, which is very, very bad except when William, Kate, Charles or Camilla do it, and then it’s terribly necessary because they’re so important. Let’s see how Penny Junor spins it!

Their actions have come under scrutiny from royal author Penny Junor, who questioned why Harry and his wife did not take scheduled flights like his father Prince Charles, or his brother Prince William. She told The Sun: “I’m sure there were plenty of scheduled flights. I do not understand why they are behaving as if they are superstars. His father has been known to take scheduled flights. His brother takes scheduled flights. This totally muddies the waters of their climate message. They are shooting themselves in the foot by taking private flights.”

[From The Daily Express]

The message of their trip was actually vaccine equality…? I also think taking a private plane probably made a lot of sense for H&M because they were clearly not alone on the trip. They had their Archewell team and likely a film crew with them too. They weren’t taking up a private plane for just two people – they were probably rolling around with about fifteen-to-twenty people total by my estimation. And if they had the film crew with them, that means sensitive camera equipment, and insurance and all of that. A private plane was probably just easier at every level. But truly, I love this: “I do not understand why they are behaving as if they are superstars.” Because they are? Get your nose out of their business, Penny Junor. They don’t “belong” to Salt Island anymore.

At least they didn’t take a private helicopter to a “pub lunch” for a staged happy family outing pap stroll.

Aren’t the Brits running out of petrol due to a self-inflicted Brexit wound running all the lorry drivers out of the country?

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

Never mind Brexit shambles, an incompetent joke of a government, a thoroughly corrupt & ineffective BRF, kids starving & petrol shortages. The Sussexes can jolly well do what they like and YES. They are the hottest superstars from that family.

      • loras says:

Yeah let’s just get off the “Climate Change” bandwagon. It is inevitable, not sure how much the cause is human activity. But whomever suffers and dies because of it so be it.The Earth will be fine.

    • fluffy_bunny says:

It was on the 6:30 news last night about how most gas stations are empty and the ones that do have fuel have huge lines. There’s a shortage of truck drivers to get fuel to the stations.

      • Lady D says:

This is the result of Brexit? All the mid-level skilled employees were foreigners and they all got booted from the UK? I remember reading once that there isn’t a single item in your home that isn’t brought by semi/lorry drivers.

      • fifee says:

@Lady D, its a combination of Brexit & Covid. There were changes to the HGV mandatory training and all training was put on hold due to lockdown. So lots of drivers arent licensed to drive, lots of drivers are retiring, more dont want to drive due to bad pay, lack of facilities etc etc and thats just the British drivers. There are many EU drivers that do not want to take loads over to the UK. The Guardian had a story in Oct 2015 reporting on the lack of drivers and that Christmas could be cancelled, so its not a new thing.

Brexit is a shit show full stop: no food on shelves; food left to rot in fields because theres no one to pick it (read a story yesterday saying one firm was willing to pay £30 an hour = £62k a year!), farmers left with animals that they cant get slaughtered; lack of CO2 which is used in food production and in abattoirs (see farmers animals) and Scotlands other national drink, Irn Bru, is on the endangered list (Im Scottish and found this story mildly funny); small energy firms going bust; Christmas might not happen. I read today that an oil refinery was on the verge of going bust due to a tax bill, so that would be a big blow … thank feck we left last year.

I can’t help the feeling that this is a KP setup. Just like the previous scandal when the British tabs attacked Harry for taking Elton’s private plane. The next photos we got of the Cambridges were them flying commercial – something that we have not seen since. Now, we have the same attack again and we now have the Sun article with photos remarking how accessible the Cambridges are with no security. My bet on the next terror campaign – the inaccessible Sussexes need an entourage while the Cambridges are an approachable “down-to-earth” family.

Recently I have started working for a French company who sells items in the UK, and I spend too much time dealing with the brits, mostly from London.
We sell luxory stuff, and the sense of entitlement from these people is crazy.
It’s not about money, it’s about how they think the UK is the center of world, which is not.
They simply don’t want to get it.
I am not talking about all the Brits, but this small rich portion gives me an idea of what might be in the aristo circles where people believe they are ABOVE and everyting is due to them. I have come to the conclusion that in the aristo minds the Empire is still there, and they cannot understand how dare these two think there might be something better.

  2. Neners says:

Of all the royals, I understand Harry and Meghan taking a private jet the most. Thanks to the British media’s ongoing hate campaign against them, I think there is a serious security risk to them flying commercial. Probably me being overdramatic, but there is something sinister about the way the tabloids keep pushing this.

    • Snuffles says:

They do seem as frustrated about their security as they are about the number of bathrooms in their house.

    • SaySo says:

THIS. You can’t villainize them and expect them to feel safe amongst all people. Have yall seen the crazies freaking out on planes about politicians, having to wear masks? with people just attacking flight attendants and carry on like animals, private is good for them.

      • JT says:

It’s like they’re mad that the Sussexes have their own security and you have to wonder why that is. They probably want them exposed so something can happen to them. I know that’s a dark thought but these people were downright gleeful when it they found out they weren’t getting royal protection anymore.

      • Snuffles says:

        @jt

I’m sure there are some that want them dead. But I believe most are frustrated that Harry can afford his own elite security because if he didn’t, he would have been frightened into returning to the royal family for protection. That’s what they want ultimately, him back in the fold.

    • Sunday says:

Yes, exactly this! Plus, I know the British establishment has decided that caring about the pandemic is ‘woke nonsense,’ but it IS still a raging pandemic out there and they have two unvaccinated little ones at home to worry about – if I had the option I’d fly private to mitigate those risks, too.

    • Lorelei says:

Fcking exactly! The main reason they need such a high level of security is because garbage media outlets like this one have been stirring up so much hate and racism directed at them for years on end.

If they hadn’t constantly trashed Meghan, the Sussexes would probably be more likely to feel safer taking a commercial flight. But the BM put huge targets on their backs, so now they need to fly privately a lot of the time. And the same publications will continue to bitch about it. It’s such a stupid, endless cycle.

And yes, Charles has “been known to take scheduled flights” — VERY infrequently. He flies privately about 99% of the time, I think? (Someone correct me if I’m wrong!) In any case, he definitely flies privately far more often than he flies commercial, and I distinctly remember him complaining about it when he did have to travel on a plane with peasants (the horror!!).

      • BothSidesNow says:

@ Lorelei, you are right!!! Chaz flies via private as a majority, whereas he seldom takes scheduled flights. As for Baldimort, we all know that lazy POS takes his toys to the air at every chance. Not only that, how do you think the TOB family arrived in France for the wedding, via caravan with CarolE and PiPpA ? Possibly an RV? Yup, because we all know KKKween and TOB would always take the most environmentally sound form of travel. Which they were certainly able to get in and out of England this summer, for 10 weeks, right? Hell, the Saudi king died and he flew out and back via private!!! FFS, Chaz must attend a Saudi Kings funeral for what, oil?? I thought we weren’t political?!

Dear Pissy Penny, did you happen to have forgotten the private flight to and from SA? Or did Chaz promise a juicy little ‘tid bit for you this holiday?!?!!! Come on love, what did Chaz say? Speak louder please……

    • nina says:

Flying private is not such a big deal in the US as it is in Europe. If you have the cash to spend you can buy shares in a private jet that is available for your use.

      • VIV says:

Is flight volume between NY and LA even back to normal? I doubt they could easily get enough tickets for their entire group right now, all of the flights I’ve been on have been packed.

  3. Nemo says:

    Dear Penny,
    They ARE superstars.

    • Gruey says:

Exactly my thoughts. In rhetoric this is called begging the question.

They are up there with, who, BTS? Just globally enormous superstars. Honestly wondering if this line was thrown in as a bit of a barb at W+K.

    • Tiffany :) says:

Exactly. Are they acting like superstars…or are they being TREATED like superstars? I think it’s the latter, and that’s what makes people so bitter. They’re so frustrated at the positive reception this couple receives.

      • TigerMcQueen says:

They are very frustrated, and I think their reaction makes it obvious that the Salty Isle folks expected H&M to fail miserably when they broke away from the RF. They expected Harry to not leave in the first place, and when he did, they thought he’d be back in the fold (without Meghan) within a year. Which makes the tremendous success H&M have had since then so very, very nice to watch, lol.

      • Christine says:

I completely agree, Tiffany. They are being treated like superstars because the rest of the world sees them through truthful eyeballs, not bitterness.

      • BothSidesNow says:

I wish I was as witty as you guys!!! I am like a rabid dog with Penny the Lush and the rest of the so-called Royal experts and last, but not least, The Society of Editors who disclaimed that they are NOT bigoted, (racist in their coverage of Meghan)!

Right, you keep telling yourself that……

      • Lorelei says:

@Tiffany for some reason, it reminded me of that saying, “it’s not a lie if you believe it’s true.”

Harry and Meghan were received and treated like superstars because that’s how the city and the American public thinks of them! The people have decided that’s what they are, and THAT is what’s bothering Penny, because I guess she’s still stuck with the outdated belief that the palace can dictate who gets how much attention and when. Harry and Meghan weren’t “acting like” anything, they were being themselves, and at this point they just *are* global superstars.

Penny is “acting like” her opinion means anything, which it does not. She tries to “act like” a real journalist when in reality, she’s only a nasty, racist, fussy old gossip. Her bitterness and envy just jump off the page. The Sussexes aren’t going away anytime soon, so if they upset Penny here so much, she might want to consider retirement 🙃

      • Agreatreckoning says:

@Tiffany, you’re right. They are being treated like superstars, not behaving like ones. The members of the Royal Industrial Complex need to buy a clue. The DM is extraordinarily dim.

@Lorelei, Penny is just talking like the rest of them. Very much like Angela Levin & Tominey. Liars. Interesting development with AL. Sometime in the past week or so, some noticeable changes were made to her author page @ Simon & Shuster and to her own website. S & S is now calling her Prince Harry book Harry: A Biography of a Prince not Harry: Conversations with the Prince. It looks hurriedly done-he’s referred to as Price Harry in the 3rd line. She’s still calling it Harry: Conversations with the Prince (I suppose Harry: Other People’s Conversations with the Prince would be too honest). Removed from both sites is the “exclusive interview” wording that’s been repeated forever regarding her imagined interview with Harry.

It’s now being called a feature or profile/cover story. Which is what it should have been called in the beginning. It sounds like someone received a memo to make some changes. She has no place criticizing Harry & Meghan. At all.
Neither do the rest of them.

    • SarahCS says:

That’s what I came here to say!

Never mind the rest of the nonsense here. They’re not sure exactly what H&M did ‘wrong’ or what they’re complaining about but they will complain!

    • Seraphina says:

Exactly what I came here to say. DUH!, they ARE superstars. And that is was salts their wounds – which makes me laugh even harder.

  4. GuestWho says:

Aside from the hypocrisy of them caring how H&M travel with their team, isn’t Charles pretty famous for refusing to fly commercial because he finds even first class uncomfortable? Doesn’t Cain squire around in a helicopter pretty regularly? I mean, he and his boring wife took one commercial flight in recent memory and that was only to stick it to his brother. Does the audience for this vitriol have NO memory of things that actually happen?

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

They royal stans are delusional. They only believe/remember what they want to.

    • Debbie says:

I don’t follow the BM, I only know the excerpts that are reprinted here but does the BM question the methods of travel of other royal family members? I mean the ones actually living in England? Because if they do, how do they reconcile that with their environmental (ha) positions, Earthshot anyone? I don’t get ignoring the royals in your own country, then focusing like a laser on people who’ve left you.

  5. Carito says:

*eyeroll* Where were they talking about climate???? The whole purpose of the trip was about equal access to the vaccines, these people don’t even know what to complain about anymore.
THEY ARE SUPERSTARS!!! get over it

    • GraceB says:

The whole purpose was indeed to talk about vaccine equality.

The only issue I think we see with this trip, is that the very point of it is being missed. How many people are actually talking about vaccine equality now, due to H&M? How many more are focused on what they wore, how they presented themselves and how they travelled?

I saw on another site people talking about their trip and what Meghan was wearing in NY (all in a positive way), but didn’t actually know what they were there for. They went to a school and to a restaurant was about as far as the thread got. It’s frustrating.

      • ABritGuest says:

Grace that’s the problem with royal coverage- it’s a shallow pool generally but you should see the comments and quote tweets on this thread- lots of non royal watchers engaging with what Harry was saying about some vaccines being publicly funded so should be more accessible

        https://twitter.com/benphillips76/status/1442570048594350085?s=21

Also apparently the Global Citizen live crowd was very engaged with the message

      • SunRae says:

Their speech is currently trending on Twitter and being retweeted by legitimate experts in the same space. I actually think that for the first time I’m seeing intelligent discourse around their work… you won’t find it in the magazines or tabloids and that’s okay.

      • Becks1 says:

Yeah if you break away from the royal coverage a bit its more about the actual substance. Like I was seeing clips from GMA and the Today show about their trip and it was focused on what they were actually doing, not one peep about private planes or wardrobe costs etc.

      • Eurydice says:

I guess those commenters didn’t get so far as to watch H&M’s speech at the event.

      • Carito says:

That’s what “royal reporters” do, they lack the brain capacity to discuss real matters because they are used to only comment about jewels, clothes and keenness.
They don’t know how to report on actual news worthy material.

      • Lorelei says:

@GraceB would you mind sharing what site you’re referring to? I’m curious now!

  6. Woke says:

“Flight shaming” is a lazy trope to attack a public figure for a non-scandal. Harry doesn’t need to justify his choices to fly private or commercial. Flight travel is 3% of human impact on climate change, 14% for all transport. The media is obtuse on purpose.

    • Nyro says:

And I love that they’re ignoring it. It’s frustrating royalist media to no end. There’s one unhinged Aussie royal reporter who’s basically writing column after column regarding the NYC trip on why she just can’t understand why they won’t buckle to the media attacks and stop flying via private jet. She even wrote a whole article tallying Meghan’s NYC wardrobe in an attempt to shame and then practically begged for someone, ANYONE, to force Meghan to wear Zara like Saint Kate. It’s literally one of the saddest and most hilarious things I’ve read. They’re all losing their minds over the lack of control. 😂

      • JT says:

Lol. Wear Zara like Kate. Please. Meghan could’ve wore nothing but diamonds and fur coat in NYC and it wouldn’t matter because it’s her own money.

      • Lorelei says:

@Nyro, “wear Zara like Kate?” LMFAO. Sure, she has some pieces from Zara, but she has *many* more by Alexander McQueen, which is conveniently left out of the discussion. Which reporter is this?

@JT Meghan could have worn a literal trash bag around New York and they’d criticize her by saying it’s not biodegradable or some nonsense. They are SO jealous of her and I love it!

      • Cessily says:

        @lorelei
And within 24 hours trash bags would be sold out every where. (Because you absolutely know it would happen🤣) That is superstar power.

    • Bettyrose says:

Thanks for those figures. I try so hard to be environmental but I just can’t hate on people for flying private because I absolutely would if could. I’m flying this weekend for the first time since before the pandemic and I’m semi-dreading it. Crowds, people, cramped seating … rather than hate on private planes let’s talk about why the US has such a crappy rail infrastructure. It’s better on the east coast but out west it’s a complete joke. It’s usually faster to drive than take a train so it’s definitely no competition for flying.

      • Isabella says:

We rely on buses in the West, if we’re not using cars. Except for a few big cities, our trains do suck.

      • Bettyrose says:

I meant specifically taking trains between cities, like SF to LA. There are more bus options than train options but bus travel seems very confining to me. At least on trains you can walk around, order food, etc. I wish we had more options.

    • MF1 says:

Yeah, I’m totally over flight-shaming. I’ve seen other big-name British celebs (particularly those who are POC) receive the same treatment, and it’s so incredibly stupid. When you’re super famous, you can’t easily fly commercial. It’s often too difficul when you have incredibly demanding schedules, need to work around the clock after you land at your destination, and you have security teams that need to manage the environment around you.

    • Dilettante says:

Penny Junor’s wording is telling. Charles “has been known to” take scheduled flights. Meaning, he has taken a commercial flight. Not that it’s his habit.

      • Lorelei says:

@Dilettante, I noticed that sly, careful wording, too. Charles detests flying commercial and only does it very rarely, AFAIK.

It is absolutely insane to me how protective of EVERY other member of the family the press has become. Harry and Meghan can never do anything right, and the rest of them can do no wrong. It’s wild to witness.

    • Meghan says:

And I feel like when they do take private flights or have to use their “fleet of gas-guzzling SUVs” or whatever, they are probably also making donations to offset the carbon use? Planting some trees? Something! They just don’t tell us about every single tiny thing they do because they’re not looking to get a pat on the back for it.

      • Agreatreckoning says:

We don’t even know if it’s a “fleet of gas-guzzling SUVs”. The Tahoe ahead of the Range Rover in the DM picture is a Hybrid (I can reveal..ala.Richard Eden -except mine is real-a knowledgeable source of mine confirmed that. My source is used to my random questions.) The pictures the BM take never show a clear direct rear view of the vehicle. It’s obscured or taken at an odd angle or when the rear hatch/gate is lifted/open. On purpose. Last Saturday, a Range Rover that looked just like the one the DM showed, parked next to me in a lot. It was a hybrid. On a Range Rover’s lift gate(rear hatch), in the middle it will say Range Rover. On the right side there is a Land Rover insignia, on the left, the model (Sport, whatever) underneath that it will indicate PHEV(partial hybried electric vehicle) or HEV(hybrid electric vehicle), or maybe nothing. The one parked next to me was an HEV. I haven’t found where Harry & Meghan called themselves “eco warriors” as the DM stated. The DM did state “self proclaimed eco warriors”.
@Meghan, H & M don’t tell us or correct every dumbass story as you said. They do have better things to do. The month of August is usually when Bill & Kathy go to Mustique. Interesting that everything was all quiet with them. To get to Mustique you have to fly to St. Lucia or Barbados-then another plane to Mustique. We were only told stories of them being in Scilly-no pictures but another “witness” who didn’t take a picture with their phone but had great detail. They were probably in Mustique. Flying around while Bill is pimping out the Earthshot thing.
        https://www.mustique-island.com/travel/

  7. Smices says:

They have two unvaxxed children at home so I can’t judge them for not wanting to fly back with the idiot population filling commercial planes these days.

    • Annabel says:

I came here to say this. Obviously I’m vaccinated, but I know people who’ve gotten breakthrough infections, and all of the choices I make are based on the principle that I don’t want to catch Covid and pass it on to my unvaccinated five-year-old.

    • Lorelei says:

@Smices, even if Covid didn’t exist, Lilibet is still too young to have gotten even all of her basic immunizations yet. I wouldn’t want to expose my infant to anything unnecessarily, either. If it was Kate, they would be praising what a wonderful mother she is, taking every precaution she can to keep her children safe and healthy. But the Black duchess is a hypocritical gas-guzzler.

William is CONSTANTLY using the helicopter to get to places he could easily drive to. It would just take a little longer, and we can’t have that! 🙄 As I mentioned upthread, he uses it so much that he had that hedge put there for the sole purpose of hiding who was using the helicopter and when. He’s blatantly trying to prevent the public — who is bankrolling all of these jaunts!! — from knowing how frequently it’s used, because he knows how unnecessary it is most of the time. But Harry married and had babies with the Black duchess, so he’s a hypocritical gas-guzzler.

    • L4Frimaire says:

A lot of us have unvaccinated kids and travel. I think it just made sense to charter a flight for their team, so everyone is traveling together, and they could get some uninterrupted work done with no interference or security risks. Too many maskholes acting the fool on domestic flights.

      • Lorelei says:

@L4Frimaire, you’re using logic, which they cannot do because they’re too blinded by envious hatred.

It seems like a lot of them were still in shock/denial that the Sussexes left in the first place, so seeing all of the glowing coverage of the NYC trip must have felt like one gut punch followed by another all weekend long. It made them lose their everloving minds.

How long do these people need before they can accept that this is just how things are now?! They wanted to get rid of Meghan, and they got what they wanted. They’re perfectly free to cover all of the white royal family members who are left, yet the “royal” reporters expend way more energy on the Sussexes— right after they just spent more than a year screeching at us about how irrelevant they are?

Maybe Penny here could put her time to better use, while saving herself some frustration…see what Sophie is up to and write about her!

    • Debbie says:

Are these the same “reporters” who right after Phillip died were begging Harry to take a private plane back to Britain?

  8. Nyro says:

They are superstars though.😂 These people can no accept that they no longer nave any control. And more than that, they can’t accept that both Harry and Meghan have relationships with powerful people independent of the royal family. It’s why they’re bitching about the upcoming military museum gala H will be attending right before Veteran’s Day. He spoke there in 2010 as a royal and he clearly developed a real relationship with that institution because he knows how to network. I think it was Oprah or Gayle who said something like you wouldn’t believe how many people Harry knows and has relationships with. And had Meghan never met Harry, she likely still would have been at the UN last week in her own capacity as an actress/activist. The royals and their royalist stans are angry this and they might as well go ahead and die mad about it. The BRF has no control over who wants to be friends or associates with the Susssexes.

  9. Eurydice says:

Yeah, the British media keeps going about how this was a global warming event. The point is not to treat private planes like taking an UBER. This was their first public event together in almost 2 years – not only staff, wardrobe, film crew, etc., but also security – for me, security would be the major reason to fly private. Maybe later, once the public is used to them, they can fly commercial.

    • harperc says:

And the US is HUUUUUGE. The UK is like the size of New England and the Mid-Atlantic. Taking a private plane to hope back and forth between Philly and NYC is wasteful. But NYC to LA? That’s about the same as London to Syria.

    • StartupSpouse says:

Climate Week is usually the same week as the UN General Assembly. Climate issues get a lot of airtime during this period. However, you can really only confuse messaging about vaccine equality and climate change if you are an idiot who isn’t paying attention to what you’re reading or writing about.

So, yeah, that tracks for the BM.

    • Debbie says:

During the NY tour the BM was saying that Harry and Meghan shouldn’t have participated because “they wanted privacyyyyyyy.” Since that didn’t work now the BM is saying they shouldn’t fly in a private plan because “global warming?” Well, at least they’re consistent: about their biased coverage.

  10. Andrew’s Nemesis says:

“ Meghan look-a-like, and CEO of the couple’s Archewell organization Mandana Dayani” – I can hear the dogwhistle from here. All people of colour look the same to the DM…

    • Amy Bee says:

Yeah, me too. And she’s not the CEO, she’s the COO.

      • Lizzie says:

The daily fail is such a rag, they are not even writers, just mean gossipers who can type with an aim to be either racist or cruel and don’t care about real facts.

    • iconoclast59 says:

I don’t know who Mandana Dayani is, so I Googled her. She looks nothing like Meghan, other than she has long dark hair and dark eyes. The face shape is different, the eye shape is different, the skin tone is different, etc. But sure, she’s a POC, too, so the DM figures they can just lump the 2 women together. Dog whistle, indeed.

      • Bettyrose says:

Same. Googled her after that comment and WTaF? It’s not even a dog whistle, which implies a coded message. This was blatant.

      • Nyro says:

The BM going to start going in on Mandana. A powerful badass American WOC who pulled off this stealth and highly successful NYC visit for the Sussexes? She’s catnip for British tabloid readers.

      • Lorelei says:

@Chelsea, how much do you want to bet that they basically use the Huma Abedin playbook for how to treat Mandana?

    • Seraphina says:

The “look alike” comments was very gross to me. They keep showing the world who they are – all of them from the BRF, to the staff, to the Firm, to the RR. They are all the same and they keep this dynasty going. All of them are complicit.

    • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

That was the big takeaway of the article for me and I am glad I did a scroll search before posting. Look alike, indeed… because they are both brown skinned. Jesus. These people cannot control themselves, they are such fkn petty, racist assholes.

  11. OriginalLala says:

I’m not a fan of private planes or how many resources the rich use up in general, but ffs, the BRF is notorious for using private helicopters and planes to travel anywhere so it’s insane that they are making such a big deal about this and say nothing when the others do it.

  12. ncboudicca says:

I would so love it if someone at their foundation whipped out the calculator and said “here’s the cost to fly all the people and our equipment on a commercial airline; including travel to LAX from Montecito; and here’s our (less expensive) cost to rent this private plane; plus the savings in time.” The British press is so completely transparent. I’d like to think nobody believes this character assassination, but I know they do – and my childhood best friend who is a FOX viewer buys right into it.

    • BabsORIG says:

If they are a FOX viewer, chances are 99% they are MAGAts too, so nothing the Sussexes do will ever change their mind. Even if the whip out a calculator, these per/MAGAts people and always constipated about something and will never be happy.

  13. Amy Bee says:

That Penny Junor quote is hilarious. William and Charles do not take scheduled flights at all. They either travel by helicopter, private jet or the RAF plane. And Harry and Meghan are superstars, I don’t understand why Penny and others can’t accept that.

  14. Scorpion says:

You would think with all the issues that the UK faces, the Fail would focus on this instead of two private citizens using their own funds to travel. If I had their money, I would travel private too.

As for Penny Junor, she is full of it. Heir Force 1 once had his shoes privately flown out to him.

    • lanne says:

She’s the ratchet who was all, “We want access to your children” like some deranged CP advocate. She should be put on a watch list.

  15. Becks1 says:

    Well of course they’re superstars.

and LOLOLOL for days at Charles or William taking scheduled flights. The only time I think William does is on tours when there is a lot of scrutiny, and even that’s not 100% (and they take up the whole first class section, so its not like he’s mixing with the peasants.) The rest of the time he and Kate fly private. How else did they get to France??

    Stay mad british press.

    • Becks1 says:

Also pointing out that this story is from the Chief Investigative Journalist at the Fail. Like…..that’s what they are “investigating.” Harry and Meghan and their travel plans.

      • Lorelei says:

@Becks, William is very keen on looking like he cares about the environment, so perhaps they swam to France?

    • Harper says:

Not sure Burger King even made it to France. By this time, we should have seen some kind of pic of the Keenbridges from that wedding.

The Keenbridges take the helicopter all the time. There was just an Instagram video of the copter with Kate in it landing on the KP lawn after one of her events last week.

  16. LP says:

They are gonna push this narrative till kingdom come in the DF. They did it with Lewis Hamilton for a while but stopped. To some extent right wing media do it here but I’ve seen less and less of it. It’s just old and tired at this point.
I just don’t think anyone cares that much here in the US just like they don’t care about how much a celebrities coat costs.
They may get clicks now but how many times can you run the same story over a course of 5 years before people are just put off.
Harry and Meghan are gonna be traveling more. Harry seems like he has no F**** to give anymore lol so I hope they keep living their best private jet life.

  17. Lady Digby says:

Also BM have short memories and clearly don’t recall Diana’s life post divorce and her continued high public profile especially in America. Service is universal as they are proving with their commitment to charity and vaccination awareness. As I posted yesterday if the positions were reversed and W and K were no longer working (!) Royals, would either of them lift a finger to help anyone else? She would be a lady that lunches and he would play polo, watch sport and be rich together but that’s all.
This Brit can’t believe what a workshy couple we have in W+K and yet we are supposed to feel uplifted at paying tax for their upkeep!

  18. Sofia says:

I’m not getting into the private jet stuff because I’ve talked about it before and don’t feel like rehashing it all again. But they are superstars, will be treated like superstars and the British media will have to deal. Heck it was their almost 24/7 reporting of Meghan that helped elevate her and Harry from “son and daughter in law of Diana” fame to “global level” fame.

    • Layla says:

Well at least the Daily Fail have admitted that Meghan and Harry are SUPERSTARS! They’ve never referred to William and Kate like that (as far as I know)

    • Lorelei says:

@Sofia they are incapable of understanding the Streisand Effect. THEY were the ones publishing like 18 stories a day focused on the Sussexes in NYC. They were the ones who made the Sussexes the huge top headline. If they’d ignored the trip completely, many of their demented “readers” might never have even known it ever happened. But the Fail just kept posting photo after photo after photo, videos of all the applause they got, etc. They’re bleating about how the Sussexes shouldn’t be acting like superstars but that is exactly how they treat them. WTF did they expect?

The were so convinced that they knew the “real” Harry, and that he was a dim bulb, would never stop partying, and would always be the “fun bachelor uncle” or some bullsh!t. The rest of us had actually been watching what Harry was doing and listening to what he was saying, so we weren’t left paralyzed with shock like they were last week when the whole world saw how they were treated in NYC.

  19. Chantal says:

@Kaiser. I am LMAO at “50 something white men who half remembered some terminology on The Root.” I think that applies to their constant misuse of the word “woke”. “Virtue signaling” and “woke” are modern day slurs.

Newsflash BM- your badly botched smear campaign backfired and made them global superstars instead of global pariahs. Quit while you’re behind. Whining about private planes doesn’t resonate in the US the same way it does there with the majority of your readership. Also, I don’t recall climate change being part of the Sussex platform. IIRC Harry gave one speech about it re Travalyst but nothing since. Princes Charles and William are focusing on the environment, not Harry. They forgot to mention the gas guzzling SUVs. The Sussexes had to obtain transportation from the airport to their mansion in Montecito with the 99 bathrooms. Unless they parachuted in…

    • Nyro says:

They literally don’t understand that the average American does not care about how wealthy private citizens spend their money. Another thing they don’t get, is that beautiful clothes and luxury goods are NOT frowned upon by black and brown folk like that. We love our stars to “stunt”. We want to see black and brown excellence on display, which includes dressing your ass off. We want our stars to be aspirational and to show up on the world stage and represent. They expected Meghan to not put her best foot forward because they assume that if you grow up in Harlem, which the BM clearly think is some kind of slum, then you MUST have class envy or feel so small and lowly that you’d be intimidated by someone simply because they’re wearing all natural fibers.

They keep trying to project their Tall Poppy Syndrome having hatin’ ass British mentality onto Americans and it simply doesn’t work like that.

      • Neners says:

This is very, very true, especially your point about how Tall Poppy Syndrome really doesn’t translate over here. We also have a completely different way of defining class in the US and that plays into it as well.

      • Chaine says:

You are so right. if anything Meghan dresses frankly in a conservative manner compared to other celebs here. I haven’t had a chance to read this blog in a few days, so idk if this has been covered, but I saw the Fail castigating Meghan for supposedly copying Michelle Obama like that was something bad. Oh, I’m Sorry, but Michelle Obama’s fashion is — amazing– and I love it that Meghan is complimenting her with those modern trendy power suits!!!

      • Lorelei says:

The BRF seems to have such a weird love/hate thing going on with America. They’ve always been popular here, and they want it to stay that way, but they also think we’re all extremely stupid because we “fell for” scheming Meghan and her “phony wokeness” or whateverTF they’re calling it today..

So many times during the smear campaign, when they were called out for not liking Meghan because of the color of her skin, the response was often, “It’s not because she’s biracial that we hate her, it’s because she’s an American!!.”
Yet they still want us to fawn all over them and adore them and buy books/magazines/souvenirs/etc. with their faces plastered all over them, and to tune in to all of their important events, and just revere them in general. But there’s always this constant undercurrent…deep down, they think all Americans are dumb, which, fine — but then why do they crave our attention and adoration?? Why was Kate so “keen” to meet celebrities like Reese Witherspoon when they were in Los Angeles? 🤯
        Pick a damn lane.

      • LMR says:

Underestimate Americans at your own peril, BRF and BM. We’re so gosh darn-tootin’ dumb, we took your favorite (superstar) prince without even trying. Enjoy the B-team.

  20. Izzy says:

Shepherd of Judea, these rota rats are exhausting.
    1) They ARE superstars. You could’ve had access but you preferred to be racist. Lie in the bed you made.
    2) My brother sometimes takes his boss’s private plane for business trips. If HE’S a superstar, I’m the Queen of England. (Hint: I’m not.)
    3) The Private Chopper of House Keenbridge has entered the chat (and the airspace over Anmer Hall, probably).

  21. Loretta says:

    They’re superstars

  22. HeatherC says:

Harry’s been a superstar in that family for a long time, before Meghan. he was the one the sent on trips to play off his popularity.

Not only that, but he’s the worker bee of the two brothers. That’s where Baldemort screwed up. Big time. Harry made connections while doing work his brother and sister in law took credit for. And when he and Meghan left the Salty Palace…they took both their connections with them. People like Oprah, Jill Biden, etc

The Salty Palace that resides on the bank of salty tears where salty royal rota are camped out need to remember that. Dr Biden came with Pres Biden to Britain. The disaster with Kate was 100 to 1 forced on her, or prearranged for diplomatic appearances. But she has chosen to continue to work with Harry over here on our less salty shores.

TL;DR: Harry’s been a superstar for a long time, Meghan has more star power than the rest of that “family” and they’re not going to stop their work or dim their light so the Salty Ones feel better about themselves.

    • Betsy says:

I didn’t even think about all Harry’s connections. I knew, obviously, that he was the working brother but I didn’t even follow that through to be like, duh, all the connections he made are for him and his work, not for the Royal family (at least not once he left).

    • Katherine says:

This! I seem to recall him going on delightful foreign trips on his own and always having a fun viral moment or clearly showing his impact. I believe the President of Jamaica (might be wrong on country, my apologies) was practically adopting him at one point. And I recall a first pitch at a Mets game with the crowd going crazy. All this was years before Meghan. He’s pretty super star-y on his own and always has been.

  23. Chelsea says:

I love how the Fail can get such basic simple facts wrong: Mandana is the company’s COO not CEO. Also lol at them being like “Mandana is a woc so she is Meghan’s look-a-like”. I feel like a lot of their bitterness is because they spent years trying to smear Meghan by calling her the world’s worst boss only to see that not only are Harry and Meghan able to hire elite talent capable of pulling off a trip like this perfectly, but that they are also publicly close to their staff.

The Fail: Meghan is terrible to work for!
Also The Fail: Look at Meghan HUGGING her staff that she allowed to fly in a private plane with her!

    • Jay says:

I guess we should appreciate that they are straight up admitting that not only do they think all dark-haired women “look alike”, but that they are willing to showcase that ignorance? That’s…uh…brave, I guess?

No wonder they were so mad about Meghan’s baby shower in New York – Amal Clooney, Serena Williams, Meghan Markle…all those women of colour all in one place, how could they possibly tell them all apart? It’s so difficult! Many newspapers wouldn’t want to flaunt this kind of incompetence, but the DM is unafraid.

  24. Marivic says:

They are global super megastars. They deserve royal first class treatment all the way. Get that right Penny and rota clowns. The UK is a big mess now and all these people talk about are Meghan’s bag, coat, jewelry, and other trivial things. They deliberately missed the point of the whole Sussex tour. These rota clowns have gone mad.

  25. manda says:

I love meghan’s pants! her outfit is fab

  26. Matthew says:

The New York City trip went better than even Meghan and Harry probably could have hoped for. They did their royal tour and everyone here was like ok great, yes, this is a royal tour by our American royalty. Never questioned it (except for some Murdoch owned papers but that’s to be expected). The Brits are very salty about the great response but there’s not really anything they can do about it. It just makes them look very very small and dusty.

    • Chaine says:

exactly “They are OUR royalty now F off Brits!”

    • Debbie says:

The BM now have their noses permanently pressed against the windows of Harry and Meghan’s lives. Couldn’t have happened to nicer guys. Aww. I love how bothered they are.

  27. Harla says:

47 helicopter trips during a global pandemic. That’s all that I to say.

    • TheFarmer'sWife says:

Not to mention a train trip during the first sweep of Covid! Was the train electric? I don’t recall masks being worn much–just much-needed medical professionals being asked to take time away from work to pose with two people who have little idea what work actually means.

  28. Over it says:

Should we ask how Willy and Katie got back to Norfolk this weekend? No. Okay then. Let’s attack the SUPERSTAR for being SUPERSTARS , because that will really shame them into not being SUPERSTARS.You lost uk , now run along and lick your salty wounds.Harry and Meghan are busy being, rich, hot , important, impressive and yeah. SUPERSTARS.

  29. Songs (Or it didnt happen) says:

How many bathrooms did the plane have?

    • L4Frimaire says:

Seriously. No one in the land of pickup trucks is fretting over a group of people chartering a flight cross country. If the same amount of people were on the same size plane, but it was United Express instead of a private charter, no one would say anything. They’re just upset that, yes they did get a superstar reception and they were able to return home with little intrusion to them or their team ( notice how they’re calling one of them out now), since they flew privately.

      • Lorelei says:

My guess is that none of them have ever been on a private plane, and they’re irate that a Black woman uses them regularly.

  30. aquarius64 says:

The BM is mad it has been cut out on major Sussex news but that’s its fault. Enjoy the sloppy seconds from the US media.

  31. Gm says:

The British press obsession with these 2 celebs is over the top. Brits aren’t paying for them so why do they care? Hypocrisy you say ? The problem is sooner or later the same spotlight will shine on the British celebs/ royal family. Actually more interesting because taxpayers pay for them.

  32. Athena says:

After the successful royal tour by the Sussexes, all the rags in the UK ran stories about the Tiara from a wedding that happened three years ago. I don’t understand the British media’s inability to let things go.

    • lanne says:

The tiara that AK47 wouldn’t let her try on to test her hair style? That tiara? The “emerald tiara” that Meghan supposedly wanted was never identified. That’s because it doesn’t exist. The only emerald tiara with Russian provenance (what they claimed is the reason Meghan couldn’t wear it) is worn regularly by the Queen–it’s the Vladimir and it would not be offered to Meghan because the Queen regularly wears it. I don’t think Meghan would have chosen the tiara that Eugenie actually wore–or maybe they pulled a fast one and offered that one to Meghan and withdrew it. But it doesn’t have Russian provenance. Tiaragate was just a way to throw roadbocks up for Meghan in the whole “Operation Get Rid of Meghan” campaign. It was just one way to try to make her leave.

    • Lizzie says:

And oddly they think refusing to let Meghan try the tiara with her hairdresser makes her look bad. Um, no, it makes the staff look like racists making life difficult for a black woman.

  33. fluffy_bunny says:

Well duh, of course they are superstars. Your loss UK.

  34. phlyfiremama says:

So who wants to break the news to DustySalty Isle that in fact, H&M ARE superstars?! 🤣 America always gets behind the underdogs, and the way the media trashed them in the UK made them the underdogs: who are coming out ON TOP in America. This is so delicious, they are literally bad mouthing themselves into irrelevancy.

  35. Lizzie says:

A private plane for 1 or 2 passengers is a much different thing than a plane full of passengers. But the fail will never admit that.

  36. Isabella says:

The stalking of the Sussexes at the airport is creepy. Imagine if they did try to fly commercial.

  37. Hello kotty says:

Raise your hand if you would fly private all the time if you could afford it for the comfort and convenience, plus skipping TSA, long lines etc etc like better food and service ✋✋✋✋✋

  38. jferber says:

Wow, what nasty bitches these “reporters” are. They remind me of the English Dept. of the high school I taught in before I retired. Also, “They behaved like superstars.” I gather they meant this as a dig. I see no irony here because they are, in fact, superstars. But true ones, because they are that good and not the fake-ass, pallid fakes at the palace in England. They are bitter and jealous as hell because they couldn’t chase out “the real ones” quickly enough. Dumbasses all.

  39. Gk says:

Maybe H&M are just rich celebs doing what is best for themselves but at least tax dollars are not paying for them. Unlike royals across the world being supported by their citizens .

  40. Weatherby says:

I’m also feeling a little troubled by the singling out by name of “Meghan look a like” Mandana Dayani… why is that bit necessary? Are we… to be upset by the couple hugging a black woman? This screams like a dog whistle, and it’s ugly.

Jealousy is very ugly in the British press and the Royal Family. And while I get no pleasure in witnessing the insidious and incessant racist and sexist dog whistles, I *do* rather enjoy the idea that KP is consumed on their own island of rage and envy, and are willing to drag the entire ROTA Corps down with them.

    Schadenfreude, anyone?

  41. MsIam says:

Harry takes commercial when its just him and a security person. He traveled commercial to the UK the last two times. But when its a large group it makes more sense to charter a flight. My college basketball team charters flights unless its a very short distance and most larger schools do too. Its not that big a deal anymore. And like someone said up thread it is a very small percentage of flights. Commercial, military and transportation companies like FedEx and UPS make up the vast majority of flights.

  42. RedWeatherTiger says:

Will we see pics of Katie Keen and the Kids on the Tube tomorrow? Just normal folks shlepping around town like normal folks do.

  43. russianblue says:

W&K and C&C literally just walked the damn red carpet at the Bond premiere and hung out with a bunch of A-List celebrities. Absolutely no reason for any of them to be there asides from looking pretty for the cameras.

But it’s the Sussexes who are the vain superstars here, after a week of fundraising and advocating for various causes. Okay then!

    • Nic919 says:

Along with a fleet of range rovers and Bentley to drive them mos toff the way…. Yeah but not Hollywood at all.

  44. loras says:

I wonder what the sentiment towards Harry is going to be when they split up.Will people here turn against Harry?

    • Haylie says:

It makes me sad that some people’s lives are so devoid of meaning and relationships that they try to speak a divorce into existence for a couple who shows no indication of splitting up and who have a newborn and a toddler at home.

      Hurt people hurt people.

    • Debbie says:

Ioras: Don’t be a pathetic twit. You can be a twit but don’t be a pathetic one dear. You make us sad for you.

  45. blunt talker says:

I have no beef with Meghan and Harry taking private rides-WHEN THIS PANDEMIC ENDS-WHEN PEOPLE LEARN HOW TO BEHAVE ON AIRPLANES-WHEN THEIR LITTLE CHILDREN BECOME VACCINATED-AND WHEN THE BRITISH NASTY TABLOIDS STOP TRYING TO CAUSE HURT TO THE SUSSEXES-THEN COMPLAIN ABOUT HOW THEY TRAVEL-OTHERWISE SHUT THE FUCK UP-PEACE111
