Duchess Kate wore fake lashes & her eyebrows were inspired by Meghan?

No Time to Die Premiere

The Duchess of Cambridge’s appearance at last night’s No Time To Keen premiere is still the story of the day, I guess. The Daily Mail, the Mirror, the Express and other British outlets have devoted several stories (each) to her Jenny Packham gown, her wiglets of doom and her makeup. There’s definitely a concerted effort to make “Kate has star power, she’s the true white English rose” happen. The Daily Mail even went with the headline “Is this the best Kate has ever looked?” LOL. The Mail piece includes an interview with Laura Kay, “Makeup Artist and Founder of Laura Kay London,” explaining what Kate did, makeup-wise.

Laura explained that to match her dazzling outfit, the royal has ‘moved away from her signature make-up look’- ditching her flushed rosy cheeks and matte pink lip in favour of a more bronzed and dewey look.

‘She is glowing, her skin looks dewy and complexion is flawless. She looks fresh from the spa and may have prepared the evening with a hydrating facial and massage as she looks so relaxed and confident in her skin. She has embraced golden bronze and brown hues to match her outfit. Her brows are bushier like we see with Cara Delevingne, or perhaps it is a clever nod to ancient history when women used to express their power and wealth by showcasing their eye-brows.

‘Kate has applied a bronze cream highlighter to contour the length of her face, contouring the top of her forehand, below her chin, jawline, as well as cheekbones and temples, to sculpt and add dimension. She finishes of her look with a tint of rose cream on her cheekbones for extra oomph.

Her brows take centre stage and perhaps inspired by her sister-in-law Meghan Markle who is known for her defined brows on the red carpet.

‘Kate appears to have used a soft pencil to build up her brows to achieve a lamination effect and brushed with a powder to add extra dimension’, said Laura.

Kate has also opted for a heavier eye look, including fake lashes – which the make-up artists says ‘totally transforms her look’ – while her choice of lip colour is subtle but glamorous. ‘She has opted for a deep smokey brown eyeshadow which is applied all over her eyelid as well as strategically smudged underneath, to create a smouldering effect. It is much more daring than what we are use to. Her lipstick choice is perfect for a formal evening event and it doesn’t over shadow her looks and she chooses a rich yet natural lip colour in gloss to add shimmer. This makeup look brings Kate to the forefront of trends as the whole world is watching her.

[From The Daily Mail]

Oh, her eyebrows are inspired by Meghan?? I wonder if that was the only thing inspired by Meghan? Because from where I sit, almost all of it was Meghan & Diana-inspired, from the cape (Meghan’s worn a few) to the shimmering gold (Diana wore gold to a Bond premiere) to the eye lashes and eye makeup (Meghan). Now the wiglets… that was pure Kate. And pure Padme from the Star Wars franchise. So all in all… yeah, whatever. Kate looked fine.

No Time to Die Premiere

PS… there are some “body language experts” chiming in, but they all got the Kensington Palace memos too, because they’re saying sh-t like “William is so proud of his glamorous wife!” Meanwhile, William barely looked at her and he didn’t seem particularly interested in her whatsoever.

Her makeup was definitely the best part of this look, so that’s a bit funny.

    • BeanieBean says:

Her makeup looks professionally done for once. I think she went bronze-y because she’s tanned from a recent vacay & because she’s always been quite matchy-matchy with her outfits. ‘Nod to ancient history’? Kate? Hardly. These writers are something else. And here’s my [non]professional body language expertise: William is always leaning away from Kate and has obviously already separated from her emotionally & physically.

      • Jais says:

Adding onto to your (non) professional body language expertise@ beaniebean: There are so many pics of Kate looking at William and smiling or appearing engaged, as if they are sharing a laugh. But he is literally not looking at her in almost every single one. He’s looking to the side or into the distance. I’d almost feel sorry for her because it’s embarrassing. Almost, for a second, but then I remember how she treated her SIL. While I can acknowledge that I like one of her outfits, or her make-up, or her hair; that’s all surface and inconsequential really. I cannot ever get over the ugliness and truly evil way in which she treated her SIL, all because she was jealous and insecure. Ugly ugly ugly.

      • Mustang Sally says:

I also thought her makeup was professionally applied and very well done. Her look is more glamorous than usual due to the nature of the event, I’m sure. She is tall and slender and I thought that dress was amazing on her – I could never pull it off at 5′ 4″!!

      • The Recluse says:

And she always looks so over-excited/thrilled to be there when movie stars are present.

      • PinkestSlip says:

I actually *am* a body language expert, and there is an absolute and complete emotional cut-off from William. His arms are in a defensive position across his body, his hands held to “lock” that pose, and it screams loudly: “DON’T EVEN!” As mentioned, Kate’s constant smiling and focus on him is revealing: she is half pretense, half hope, and it’s pathetic in every sense. He doesn’t look at her, doesn’t lean into her, there are no indications of any physical intimacy between them, not one. In fact he is unconsciously looking away and pulling away constantly. His looking to the ground while she is pleading with him with her eyes and fake laugh, that is a look rich in content: he doesn’t want any contact with her, none at all, but the look at the ground is tinged with guilt. Overall, though, the look down is dismissive; totally dismissive.

In short, his arms across his body, locked together by his hands, is both a physical refusal to have contact, and a subconscious protection of himself; not looking at her has a slim dose of guilt, but is predominantly dismissive.

This couple are NOT a couple. They’re done.

  2. lucy2 says:

I think the gown would look amazing on someone with more red carpet presence.

    • Case says:

Totally agree! The dress itself is stunning, but it would look better on someone with more charisma and confidence on the red carpet.

    • February-Pisces says:

I do love the dress but it’s very overpowering. In order to pull it off you have to have more ‘presence’ than the dress. Its the ‘person’ who should shine in the dress, not the dress that should ‘shine’ cos it’s really shiny.

But I’m glad she’s finally stepping out of her comfort zone.

      • Anna222 says:

I liked it but the hair is too much – I keep picturing someone like Sienna Miller with a more messy updo to counteract all the sparkle. It would make it more British style than prom Queen. Kate’s glowing though that “holiday’” certainly paid off.

      • L4frimaire says:

It’s a lot of gold and glitter. I think someone like Dakota Johnson would look great in that dress, because she has that dgaf attitude. Also, a cleaner face with just a red lip would be a better look makeup wise. The matron updo really is too much though.

      • Christine says:

This dress screams Charlize Theron or Nicole Kidman, IMO. They have the presence to pull this off.

      • February-Pisces says:

One example the springs to mind s billy porters 2019 met gala outfit. His outfit is so crazy and he’s literally dripping in gold, but he absolutely owns it. His presence is even bigger than the outfit, he wears it not the other way round.

      • PrincessK says:

I knew she would want to make a big statement to get the headlines but l didn’t think she would go this far..lol! My daughter said that she looks like she has been wrapped in bacofoil.

    • molly says:

The dress would look amazing on someone who was allowed to pose and move and have some fun. Imagine this at Cannes or the Met Gala on someone really ready to go for it and have a moment. Kate can’t/isn’t allowed to do any of that, so she’s just a pretty person in a sparkly dress. Rihanna or JLo would have KILLED in that dress.

  3. Lili says:

Looks like she channeled Angelina Jolie in the Malificent premiere.

  4. Kate made the mistake of getting her Botox way too close to the day of the premier. Makeup can hide the bluish tint of the bruises, but there’s no makeup in the world that hides the Botox bumps. Hilaria Cucumber Baldwin made the same mistake for that baby movie premier.

    • Bettyrose says:

Hmm I guess I don’t know what to look for because I really can’t tell. And of course the photos are ‘shopped anyway. But she’s definitely doing something different. Her face is fuller and her smile is warmer, more genuine. BTW lol @ Hilaria Cucumber. 🤣

      • kelleybelle says:

The facial shine gives it away. And the dress? It’s wearing HER. Don’t like the hair either. Sorry to be such a bummber but …

And that manic expression again, gah.

      • clomo says:

To me her inner eyes, near the tear duct there seems to be a couple of filler injections that are still fairly round and unsettled. But I don’t think k that is Botox, maybe a filler. IDK nor really care except for scientific observation.

      • bettyrose says:

Maybe I just like the look because it gives off vibes of just did a line of coke in the loo at Studio 54, which would be the most interesting thing she’s ever done. And would definitely produce a smile.

      • Christine says:

        LOL, bettyrose!

      • PinkestSlip says:

@Bettyrose, unfortunately “interesting” and “Kate” don’t belong in the same sentence, and will never meet each other in any way, not even grammar-wise…

    • GraceB says:

Personally I don’t see it and I’m also a regular with the botox, but I’ve only ever had a small bruise once. I know the hate on Kate thing is popular and she usually provides plenty of ammo, but on this occasion I think she really looks really good.

    • Mac says:

Botox doesn’t leave bumps on the skin. If you are experiencing that you need a new dermatologist.

      • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

        Seriously.

      • FeatherDuk says:

Yup, I’ve been getting it for over a decade, never had a bump once, although I did get a tiny bruise one time.

      • Elisa the I. says:

+1, I never had any bumps or bruises from Botox! So if that happens, find a new doctor fast. Also, mine is always doing smaller injections at the first appointment and two weeks later – at the second appointment – she checks whether more is needed to have a good result. In this way my face looks totally natural.

    • Lizzie says:

I’ve only gotten the bluish tint of the bruises from filler, never botox. I got Botox yesterday. Never have seen bumps from botox either.

  5. UnionSnack says:

I bet her eyebrows were inspired by Caterpillars. The dress is fine, but what’s wrong with her face?

  6. Kelsey says:

That dress would’ve looked a lot better on her in silver. She’s got cool undertones so it really would’ve popped. But between that and her endless slouching even this gorgeous gown just wears her, not the other way around.

But even then…yes, this is the best she’s looked, which is kinda sad considering how long she’s been doing this LOL

  7. Queen Meghan’s Hand says:

Wow: the best she’s ever looked and still a comparison to Madame Duchess Meghan, Our Lady of Neutrals.
    Poor Keen.

  8. Lauren says:

Whoever did her makeup should be fired. Too much around the eyes. She always favors dark eye pencils and goes in thick around the eyes. The panda look is cute on pandas, not people unless you are going emo. The makeup artis also went a bit crazy with the bronzer.

    • Jan90067 says:

Her makeup is awful. She doesn’t look “dewey”, she looks shiny; highlighter is WAY too obvious, as is the contouring. As I said on the other post, her brows were way heavier and she’s wearing some weird false lashes, they don’t have a “natural” look, but seem too short for the width of her eyes; they “bunch”. The liner is “off”, should’ve extended more with this look, and the pinky nude lip doesn’t go with the orange and gold of the dress dress. A brown nude would’ve gone better. Should’ve been a dramatic eye and a real nude lip, or less eye and a bold lip. This is a half in half out attempt.

The dress is GORGEOUS, and for once, it does fit to perfection. But no one is seeming to mention that when she moves, you can practically see through it up to her hooha. The lining is pretty sheer!

And yes, Meghan wore several dresses with capes, inc. when she was pregnant with Archie. Kopy Khate is at it again. At some point it will become a point by point copy, down to the fabric/color.

      • Capepopsie says:

@Jan90067 I too noticed that you could se through her dress which put me of the whole look. Pretty embarrasing really, spoils the outfit completely! 😑

      • Tessa says:

It did not look like an elegant gown being see through.

    • Erinn says:

I don’t see what you’re seeing. Nothing about her eye makeup here is panda or emo. This is one of the least liner heavy looks I’ve seen on her. She has shadow on her lower lash line area and mascara but not some sort of thick liner. Honestly I think it looks fine for the most part. Some tweaks could be made, but overall it’s definitely not her worst makeup look by any means.

  9. janey janey says:

Listen, I will say she looked great. Just great.

It’s odd that Megs is still a reference point at all here, british media. Why? Just let Kate be great on her own. Poor woman looks like a million bucks and is still dragged.

    • BUBS says:

Kate can’t be great on her own. That’s the thing. If it’s not Meghan, it will be Raducanu…someone is always needed to help her shine!

    • Northerngirl says:

I agree Janey Janey! Let her have a break for a minute!

    • Robyn says:

I agree. She looks better than she has in AGES, loads of people wear false eyelashes every day, and her eyebrows are the current style and suit her face. Her general behavior sucks, but the look was very good. Can’t win, I guess.

      • JT says:

Kate always wins. She has an entire country’s media on her side ready to prop her up for going to a premiere in a pretty dress. Meg was just dragged in the UK for caring about vaccine equity. I don’t know why people act like Kate is the underdog.

      • Robyn says:

@JT @Becks1 I mean in these comments. I’m not saying that Kate can’t win…You’ll notice that I pointed out that her behaviour sucks? People got dragged for not liking a *photo* of H&M but here we are, nitpicking this look to death.

      • Becks1 says:

Yeah, the idea that Kate can’t win is……something.

She put on a pretty dress, had her hair and makeup done, walked a red carpet, and is being hailed as the savior of the monarchy as a result. No complaints about being too hollywood, too diva-esque, trying to steal the spotlight, etc.

Nice work if you can get it.

        But sure, she can’t win.

      • GraceB says:

I think to have any credibility in these arguments, people need to have the same energy for both women. It’s either ok to nitpick a woman’s looks to death, or it isn’t. It’s either ok to comment on someones body, or it isn’t (personally I will always side with the latter).

I know Meghan has had more than a rough ride with the British tabloids & Royals. I know Kates work ethic is more than lacking. But are people who rip shreds out of Kate for the tiniest detail really any better than the DM commenters who do the same to Meghan?

      • Sofia says:

Literally 70% of people have said that Kate looks great, a further 10% or so, including myself, said the dress is fantastic but not a good one on Kate and there’s about 20% of people who have said Kate looks bad full stop.

But sure. She can’t win with us, we are all terrible people for criticising her and since this site is terrible for being the only place on the internet not filled with Kate fawning, it’s the same as the British Media’s 5 years long and counting campaign against Meghan.

      • Robyn says:

@GraceB You articulated what I was getting at way better than I did.

The leap from me pointing this out to folks equating this with calling others terrible people and defending Kate is…a lot.

    • Natters says:

I think she looked great too. I think she gained a little weight as she doesn’t look so gaunt in the face as usual. Perhaps some much needed Botox.

      • JT says:

This site is probably the only place where people are critical of Kate. Meg was just dragged over here for wearing her damn coat, which people had to defend because it was ridiculous. Most of the comments say Kate looked gorgeous yesterday, although I’m in the minority, but how much praise does Kate need? And Kate’s clothes are the only thing to nitpick because that’s all she is….a clothes hanger.

      • Becks1 says:

@JT agree with you and Sofia, and its always comical when this happens.

      • JT says:

@Becks1 is just crazy that people want to act like Kate needs defending when she has the entire British media going hard for her while she does nothing. I think we’re on nearly a week of coatgate for Meg, and Kate stans want to get bent out of shape over 20% of the comments not liking her dress. Come on now.

      • Jais says:

Aside from Kate’s work ethic, she was part of the smear campaign against Meghan. The fact that a lot of people here say they liked her dress or makeup illustrates that the distinction can be made between what she looks like and what she does. Personally, I really did think her eyebrows looked better. Some people didn’t think that. And personally, I cannot overlook her part in the smear campaign.

      • Nic919 says:

Kate has not gained any weight. In fact many of the photos have airbrushed the bones that can been seen in her upper chest because she is so emaciated. The face is fuller solely due to botox and fillers.

    • Tessa says:

Diana slightly changed her hairdo at a Parliament opening (I never noticed the difference) and was slammed for it, yet there is Kate getting all the media attention in the sparkling dress. I wonder why Charles does not complain. Seems odd. Other married ins were expected to work. Kate is called a “goddess” by some in the DM comments because she put on the gold dress and she has had other better gowns.

  10. Noki says:

I saw this slowed down clip on instagram where William is supposesly looking at Kate in this lustful manner. William is reaching Charles level of NO pretence. If you look at archive videos of Charles and Diana ,he could not hide his disdain for her one bit. However the difference is TOB loved/lusted Kate at some point.

    • Jan90067 says:

TOBB looks PAST Khate. He never seems to really look *AT* her, really *SEE* HER.*..it’s pretty sad at this point, as she still looks at him with those puppy dog eyes at these events.

      • Surly Gale says:

OR, she’s a better actress than we gave her credit for (before you come for me, let me say I consider Meghan an actor. Periodt. Hence calling Katie the more pejorative ‘actress’ in this context) because she is making googly eyes at him whilst he ignores her entirely.
So, either she’s a great faker, or through it all, she still is enamored by her prince. Sadly, what Wm is doing is no favour to his children. They will be raised that being rude to a woman, your wife & mom of your kids, is just fine. I find that incredibly sad.
I do note she manages to stay 1/2 step BEHIND in all the pics, even when they’re purportedly walking side by side, they are not. So she’s doing her job, right?

    • Abby says:

Yeah I saw that too. I don’t want to compare to M&H but the body language is startlingly different. If I dressed up like that my husband would be MUCH more “showing me off” and proud than William. It makes me sad for their marriage.

    • Natters says:

Wills better get used to people wanting to look at attractive people more than an unattractive prince. Just like his dad. He’s getting more unattractive with age. Just like his dad.

    • Nic919 says:

He barely looked at her in most of the photos and even some of the video. He’s not even hiding the disdain anymore. Kate did try and she made the effort, but it’s not being reciprocated.

      • PrincessK says:

Yes, poor Kate, as usual looking lovingly at her husband but he deliberately avoids looking at her knowing the cameras would like that shot. He is awful.

  11. ABritGuest says:

    Yeah her skin looked lovely

Poor Kate though- Bill just isn’t getting the loved up memo.

  12. Scarlett says:

The cape which makes Meghan look statuesque, is giving off the appearance of Kate slouching. and having bad posture….then again….it’s not the cape, it’s the shoulders carrying it.

  13. Gk says:

Her makeup was fine and she looked good.

  14. L84Tea says:

As usual, lots of Kate staring at William and William never once looking her way.

    • Northerngirl says:

Yeah, I almost feel bad for her..

    • Merricat says:

      I don’t.

    • Over it says:

This is it, Kate sees him. He sees only himself. Oh how she wishes he would bestow an ounce of that yummy snack look Harry gives Meghan

    • SarahCS says:

Looking at those pics I can’t help but wonder what’s going through her mind at that moment. Is it ‘for the love of god just LOOK AT ME, we need this shot’. Wondering if the cook left the oven on? Hoping that no-one notices how sheer her dress is?

    • ADS says:

I noticed that too. And she did look incredible so it was particularly striking that he didn’t seem bowled over. I sometimes feel concerned for Kate. She joined The Firm as a young, and probably still quite impressionable, person. Who knows what they and Bill may have put her through as the years have gone by…? We know about the many Rose bushes… goodness knows what else has gone on… The whole thing is so toxic.

      • Beach Dreams says:

LOL she was 29 when she married him. She wasn’t a naive teenager like her deceased MIL.

      • Becks1 says:

She was 29. I agree that it is a toxic environment, and she may not have known what she was getting into as far as being a royal goes, but she certainly knew what she was getting with William.

      • Tessa says:

Kate was 29 and waited about 10 years for the ring and put up with Wiliam’s break ups and his seeing other women. She even waged a media campaign getting photo ops going to clubs to see “what he was missing.” If his overtures were reciprocated by a woman he was pursuing during the breakups, Kate would have been history.

      • swirlmamad says:

Especially after 10 years of chasing after him and taking him back every time he decided to give it another go because he couldn’t pull someone else. If Meghan “knew what she was getting into”, according to her haters, Kate DAMN sure did as well.

      • Nic919 says:

Divorce is always an option. She is not required to remain married to this man. Her own mother in law made that decision at an even higher rank. She chooses to remain in this relationship.

  15. BUBS says:

William is proud of his glamorous wife? LOL. The delusion is strong on Brexit Island!

  16. Amy Bee says:

William clasping his hands walking down the red carpet was something. I think these experts are told that they have to mention Meghan in their observations because what this make up artist said about Kate’s eyebrows made absolutely no sense.

    • Jais says:

Well, her eyebrows did look different; it was one of the first things I noticed last night. But I don’t think they look like Meghan’s. Truthfully, it’s more of an insta eyebrow if that makes sense, the eyebrow trend in Instagram or tiktok. I still like it better than her usual eyebrows though.

  17. MF1 says:

Credit where it’s due: this is the best she’s looked in YEARS. And she’s finally, FINALLY leaning into the glamor of her position. Her makeup is imitating Meghan, but at least it’s more flattering and modern than her usual makeup.

    • Laura says:

Her dress to me, is very Melania Trump. It’s glamorous but not elegant.

    • Nic919 says:

I still think the white off the shoulder dress from the BAFTAs is her best glam look which also didn’t age her a decade. Kate reminded me of Blanche from the golden girls in this outfit.

      • L84Tea says:

I agree, the white Bafta dress was Kate’s best look in my opinion. This is just a clusterf**k of beads and rhinestones and more beads and rhinestones.

      • Becks1 says:

That was a great look, and I still like the reworked McQueen she wore to the BAFTAs one year which may be an unpopular opinion – the black one with white flowers and the drop waist and off the shoulder neckline? I liked that, I know there were mixed reviews.

There have been one or two other red carpet looks that I liked – I remember the teal Jenny Packham she wore around the time of the Olympics, with the lace back – that was a great look for her. And she loves black lace for an evening look but some of those aren’t that great and some are better.

In general, she looks better in one color dresses that aren’t super fussy. The white dress had a lot of skirt but because it was such a simple color and fit her well it did not overwhelm her.

    • MerryGirl says:

Leaning into the glamour of her position? But I thought being a Royal wasn’t supposed to be Hollywood or glamorous. Isn’t walking the red carpet Hollywood?

    • Tessa says:

She looked better when she first married in, she did not have the excessive thinness and looked less strained. The dress she wore was too over the top, she had better fashion choices when younger.

  18. Cathy says:

Eeeekkkk, I’m about to say something nice about Kate who I’ve got zero time for… I like her hair.

But would have worn different earrings, imagine this outfit with a pair of chunky diamond studs?

Btw, did she have her mouth open all the time she was on the red carpet?

  19. Sarah says:

I think Kate looks fabulous. She’s giving off strong Dynasty Di/Bond girl from the 80’s vibes and it suits her. I think her look is perfect for a Bond premiere.

  20. Isa says:

She just doesn’t have star power.

    • kimberly says:

no, she doesn’t…she was a safe choice for william…she isn’t a white rose either. ..it’s the 21st century….some of these posters watch too much historical fiction shows🤣

  21. sandy says:

she has shitty posture – if she stood up straight instead of bending her shoulders the dress would look better

  22. Margaret says:

I can’t help but notice how willie, and the guy claiming to be cammie and charlies’ son favor. They look related more than willie and harry. That is just my observation.

  23. Emma says:

That’s funny because it looked to me like it was more of a no-makeup makeup look, very restrained, (and why not when the dress is a gold piano) and here the makeup artist is saying it’s “much more daring” than usual? “Smoky brown” eyeshadow and nearly colorless lipstick and a hint of “rose” on the cheekbones? Uh.

    • Nic919 says:

Her makeup looked the same as in the past. She has heavy eye makeup on all the time except for super casual events and the thick brows have been a thing for a while. If we compared from a decade ago it looks different, but not really from the last year or so.

  24. Merricat says:

It is sadly hilarious that the only thing Kate works at is dressing up. It’s her major contribution to society. That and her whiteness.
Good enough for royalists, but not the rest of the world.

    • BUBS says:

A high profile woman in the 21st century at that! Such a shame!

    • MarqueeMoon says:

Agree @merricat .. and can I add her thinness , because that’s the best thing all women can do (sarcasm)
The thing that gets me with their “service” is how compared to H&M , they mostly take, ie events like the football, the winning tennis players, the James Bond premier have all of the positive attention, glamour and power, they go to these events to take some of the shine and goodPR for themselves, they attend to TAKE rather than GIVE

Whereas H&M bringing up unsexy topics like Vaccine equality or other unknown causes on their trips to give some of their star power and attention to causes that need it

I mean ffs the James Bond premier doesn’t need any more attention or publicity, people in the media are acting like they’ve just solved world hunger by attending
I think Kate does look better than usual, but imagine how much Meghan would be criticised for being that “Hollywood” if she’s worn something so gold and glittery like that!

  25. Layla says:

The dress is Diana. She actually wore the same dress design (not counting the Meghan cape) to a Bond premiere. The middle is pretty much the same. And the shoes are definitely Meghan. (Aquazurra’s again).pretty sure she has Choi’s that are gold but “NO I have to be better than Meghan I just have to”

I bet you anything she’s going to keep wearing Aquazurra’s and a more cape dress and anything else Meghan did flawlessly. This is what she does. She Sing White Females the heck out of Meghan but is going to do it so often that derangers and rota trash will “forget” that Meghan ever started the trend and that “this is my style now. I did it first” she’s already tried with maxi skirts, turtlenecks and top handle bags.

When Meghan wore “false lashes” to an event in Nov 2019 all you could hear was “she’s wearing false lashes! How dare she! Burn her” and now Cathy keen does the same she’s “the best she’s ever looked”. I am so done! My stomach is hurting from too much laughter because that’s all you can do now.
Like Meghan said “ you have to laugh at a certain point because it is just ridiculous”

    • Tessa says:

Diana had a better fashion sense than Kate. Diana’s dress was silver and better styled. Diana tried to dress like a “royal” early on but got her own style. Kate lacks Diana’s flair and Diana was more than a mannequin. Much more.

  26. Sparkles says:

Wow! I think she looks absolutely beautiful! That is a gorgeous dress and it suits her very nicely.

  27. Crowned Huntress says:

William never looks at his wife, Kate atleast tries to gaze at him with some measure of affection but William ignores her or looks away and at this point it’s sad.
Sad that a woman spent her whole life trying to snag a Prince, she gets him and he treats her like trash.
No amount of makeup, styling or pretty dresses can cover up her lack of self worth. That dress is wearing her because it has more backbone than the Duchess.

    • MMadison says:

Well if she waited for all of those years while he pursed others did anyone think for a second he would respect her in the marriage? If Kate didn’t know her own worth did she really believe William would value her? He doesn’t look at her. He doesn’t try to catch her eye for a lingering moment. He doesn’t check in with her. He doesn’t move in close next to her just to feel her next to him for comfort or to give her comfort. He does NONE of these things. Look at Kate looking at William. I see a woman that is longing for that same look in return. Instead all she gets is a thin lip of resistance. Here’s the thing…The title, the money, the jewelry and the clothes is all that William has to give to Kate. His love I’m certain, he give to another. Once a heart is lost one night at a movie premiere want bring it back…if you don’t believe me, take another look at the pictures of Baldy…..enough said.

  28. Nancy says:

I think she looks more than fine. She looks lovely and either she’s eaten a sandwich or two or had her face plumped up because it’s looking way better. So what if her looks are inspired ( or copied) from someone else? My mother always said imitation is the sincere-est form of flattery. I’ve got zero criticism of how she looked.

  29. BeyondTheFringe says:

I’d be willing to bet the farm she has had her brows laminated, which accounts for the fuller look.

In which case, good for her because brow laminations are superb and I generally always think people look more youthful with a fuller brow. And that concludes my credit where credit is due portion of the comment.

    • Xara says:

Thank you for bringing this up. I have never heard of brow lamination. After looking it up, I fully agree that she had this done. And now I want it done too!

  30. Royalle says:

    She looked absolutely stunning

  31. Becks1 says:

    Omg, this line:

“a clever nod to ancient history when women used to express their power and wealth by showcasing their eye-brows.”

Sure. That’s exactly what Kate was doing.

    • Merricat says:

Lol, the efforts to infuse her with thought and meaning are so funny.

    • JT says:

@Becks1 This right here is why the “Kate can’t win” comments are absurd. They are really talking about her brows being a nod to ancient history for looking slightly better than they normally do. This is completely ridiculous, just like how Kate’s childish theme dressing became “diplomatic dressing” to give her some substance. She will always be propped up for the bare minimum, so a little nitpicking over Kate’s mostly bad fashion sense is ok in my book.

      • L84Tea says:

…Hands out drinks to Becks, Merricat, and JT and pats the seat on the couch next to me…

      • Becks1 says:

@L84Tea I like wine but it may be too early for that, LOL.

@JT – right? I don’t feel guilty for saying I don’t love this look, even if others do. I wouldn’t feel guilty for saying I hated this look. She’s getting more praise for wearing a dress and watching a movie than some people give Meghan for her role in raising money to distribute vaccines across the world.

      • Sofia says:

Plus if you don’t like the comments here about Kate, head over to the royaldish, the royal forums, KP comment section, Twitter, DM comment section and you will find 1000s of comments praising Kate to the high heavens. This is the only site on the internet where I can criticise Kate in any way without getting “She’s the future queen! So regal! So classy!” shoved down my throat.

Go to other places instead of trying to victimise yourself for liking Kate and if you don’t like this comment section so much, why are you spending time here? I’m sorry if this sounds harsh but between this and the 4 day discussion on how terrible Meghan is for wearing coats, the comment section here is getting weird.

      • Becks1 says:

        LOL Sofia! I agree.

And that’s not to say that people here can’t like something Kate wears, or can’t dislike something that Meghan wears – I do think the pile-ons the instant anyone says something slightly negative about Meghan can be ridiculous – but there’s a tone to some of these comments that is getting strange, like people think we have all just forgotten the years-long smear campaign that drove Meghan to the point of suicide, a campaign that benefited Kate, a campaign that Kate enabled and encouraged. Or that because Kate is wearing a sparkly dress with a Star Wars-esque hairstyle and false eyelashes it means she’s perfect.

      • Sofia says:

@Becks1: I agree. I’m not saying you can’t praise Kate or criticise Meghan (I have done both) but what I dislike is posters acting like Kate criticism on here is the same as DM criticism on Meghan (and there’s criticism about Kate that I don’t get involved in because I find too harsh yet it’s still not comparable IMO)

Or complaining about how mean everyone is here and leaving passive aggressive comments about how we all attack Kate yet continuing to come here everyday and comment. If you don’t like a site, don’t click on it.

      • Nic919 says:

I want a drink too. Because not everyone has to agree and we aren’t journalists or judges so being biased isn’t the end of the world.

And it is very interesting how a sparkly dress can forgive so many poor actions, including skipping the vigil of a high woman who was murdered.

      • Leah says:

I find the dress over the top and not a good look on her (might look better on her if it was in silver). Someone previously said the white BAFTA dress was her best and I tend to agree. The earrings are just wrong. Hair is a disaster. Makeup is ok. Not sure why people are going crazy over this look…feels like she is trying so very hard…

      • L84Tea says:

@Nic919, you are always included. Have a seat. What’ll ya have?

Sofia, you’re invited too! Have a drink with us! I agree with everything you said. I feel very “protective” (for lack of a better word) of this site because it’s literally the one rare space we can come and be happy for Meghan without being told we’re wrong. Kate stans monopolize every other royal site and SM site with their fawning. I consider this space sacred. Not to mention, it’s very obvious that CB has been overrun today with Kate stans trying to irritate us. 🙂

      • Jais says:

Seems like the last time the Kate stans were this noticeable was the Sunday morning comments the day after Phillip’s funeral? Cheers to all y’all pushing back🍻

      • Amy Too says:

What bugs me is that people act like a critical Celebitchy comment about Kate (or sometimes Meghan—because there can be a pile on when someone honestly doesn’t like an outfit or whatever) is the same exact thing as going to Kate (or Meghan’s) personal social media page and telling her she looks bad hoping that she will see it and it will hurt her feelings. Like I don’t think Kate (or Meghan) are reading the full comments on every Celebitchy article and becoming heartbroken because a handful of people don’t think their pants are the right length (because honestly, no one here is ever straight up cruel in their comments, everyone tried to explain why they don’t like something and what would be better, and things are usually prefaced with what does look good). A concerted hate campaign that is brought directly to Meghan with racist comments on sussexroyal (when it existed) is different than us talking amongst ourselves here about why we don’t like these shoes with this dress. A hate campaign that is brought directly to her and everyone else in the world through the front page of all the major newspapers and the morning show and prime time news shows is not the same as a comment that one has to scroll past 140 other comments to get to saying that they think Kate dresses like the Victorian child of a sister wife. Maybe it’s just me, but I honestly consider the comment section of Celebitchy to be a place where we friends are all talking amongst each other, not trying to talk *to* Kate or Meghan. It’s not the same as personally attacking Kate or Meghan in a place where we know/hope they’re going to read it. If it takes me quite literally a few hours each day to read all the comments on the royal articles here, I highly doubt that Meghan or Kate or any other celebrity is able to read every single Instagram and Twitter comment about themselves on their own platforms, plus all the actual news media coverage of themselves in print and on tv, plus all the comments on all the news media’s Facebook pages, plus all the fan blogs and social media sites, plus all of the royal specific or Kate specific websites and blogs, plus all of the random fashion or celebrity blogs from all over the English speaking world that sometimes cover kate or Meghan, and then also every single comment in this one particular blog’s comment section.

      • Nimp says:

Long time reader, rare commenter… But feel compelled to agree. Kate looks glamourous for sure, but the fact that she can attend a movie premiere looking like a literal Oscar statue and is widely praised for it just smacks of the BMs relentless hypocrisy. If this look isn’t screaming “Hollywood” I don’t know what is. I really appreciate the fashion and cultural criticisms on this site!

    • BeanieBean says:

Are they thinking Egyptians? Because I don’t think the Greek or Roman women did that. Maybe Ancient Chinese, Japanese? Oh who am I kidding, Kate didn’t pay attention in her art history classes & never gives that kind of thought to her clothing & makeup. Nor does it fit in with her theme dressing for a Bond premiere.

      • Amy Too says:

So this is a random fact that I learned from reading Lisa eldridge’s history of makeup book, but the ancient Greeks did like a unibrow and women would sometimes use coal to enhance their brows or give themselves a unibrow. But that wasn’t royal specific. So maybe she means Egyptian, but again, that wasn’t royal or aristo specific. It was about keeping the sun out of your eyes.

  32. Dee says:

I don’t understand the praise for her eyebrows, of all things. One of her brows always looks like it’s up and “winging it” away from the other one.

  33. Dee says:

She looks like an unimaginative copy of an Oscar. With so much at her disposal she’s still the also-ran. I mean, she’s wearing a cape dress 3 years after it peaked—with MM wearing that gorgeous blue gown on 218 South Pacific tour. (Paltrow kicked it off in that legendary Tom Ford at 2012 Oscars.). Also, who is naturally bro zed and always going? Ah, MM again. The whole thing is lazy and pathetic; Mrs. Keen’s handlers are doing her no favors (why can’t they get her a team to create a base easy, effortless signature look that she can adapt as needed (e.g., the ever-present JLo glow, etc). Plus, agree with comment that she would have looked better in silver gown. Also, It’s uncomfortable to look at the photos where’s she’s looking at and smiling at Baldy and he won’t even look at her (and it Even looks like he’s ignoring her). The second-hand embarrassment is off-the-charts high and one would sympathize if she wasn’t such a lying, envious, detestable, mean girl, the-big-bad-angry-black-woman-made-me-cry racist assh**e.

    • Amy Too says:

I think this is part of why this look made me literally laugh out loud when I saw it. It’s like a version of something a celebrity would have worn 5+ years ago. The trend has now moved on to naked dresses with strategic beading and sequins, but Kate is still doing the full head to toe covered up gold sequined/beaded dress (with cape!), so the fact that everyone is like “omg so modern, so stylish, you go Kate, finally coming into the now!” is kind of confusing to me. Like if your average 60+ year old suburban white woman from middle England Kate-specific royal lover likes your dress and think it’s modern and exciting, it’s probably not actually modern or exciting or fashion-forward anymore. If everyone likes it and everyone would wear it, it’s not interesting or saying anything fashion-wise. And that’s fine, it’s not what I look for in my royals. I expect them to wear classic clothes that are kind of dated and conservative and boring while still looking expensive and pretty, but it looks like *Kate* is actually going for a glamorous, fashionable, “not your average royal,” exciting, celebrity, wow moment. But she’s doing it in a dress that was new and exciting 5-8 years ago. And then she wears 40 wiglets in some kind of super contrived, curly, pinned to death hairdo from 1952. So rather than looking effortless and fashionable and cool, she looks try hard and unsure of herself. It’s just the fact that she thinks this is such a trendsetting, risk taking moment, to the point where she’s not sure if it’s “too modern” so she pairs it with an old fashioned hairstyle and super safe makeup to be safe, and all the while the “glamorous, new, modern dress” is so NOT trendy and NOT risky that people are saying they could see it on Helen Mirren, Melania Trump, or any random mother of the bride.

      • Puppydrum says:

Oh wow. What a perfect comment. Wish I could have put it that way. I feel your frustration and I’m right there with you 100%.

  34. Fausty says:

I think Kate looks great. Probably the best she’s looked in years.

  35. Paloma says:

Her eyebrows look a little better but they still aren’t good. Meghan has nice eyebrows. Not sure why some people struggle with it. Serena Williams is very into fashion and beauty but usually her eyebrows look weird. Kate’s eyebrows look thick but in an odd way, like they are too 3-d. I’m sure someone could easily make them nice, not sure why it hasn’t happened. I hate that it’s a standard for Meghan and pretty much all celebs to glue or thread on plastic lashes. Kate’s falsies are too big. I didn’t realize she was not into falsies before. Meghan does not wear falsies quite that noticeable and that’s not what her brows look like so I don’t see what the copy is (or it is a bad copy lol.) hope she will not try to « copy » mm’s thick foundation and dark blush/bronzer next, that will not look good!

  36. Elo says:

I don’t think anything about this resembles MM and I think she looks beautiful. Good on her.

  37. Malina says:

I like Kate and I think she does everything she’s expected to do by the court. I don’t personally have any more demands of her. I also don’t think we need to constantly compare Meghan and Kate. They are cut from a different material. It is William I cannot stand, the look on his face especially. If he stood next to me with that face on, not deigning to even look at me… oh my… just by looking at those pictures I feel like punching him. Perhaps the apple really doesn’t fall far from the tree.

  38. Matthew says:

it’s going to be so funny when Kate wears a tonal baggy suit and suede pumps

  39. Ann says:

I mean, she looks really good, but the eyebrows are a little uneven and that bugs me. Also, why does she always have her mouth open?

  40. Over it says:

I don’t know what pictures these body language experts saw but from what I see posted here, Willy seems to not notice she is there at all. As for the whole world is watching her, lolololololololol. I can guarantee you they are definitely not.

    • Nic919 says:

He was practically ignoring her the whole time. I mean effort was required on his end to avoid eye contact with her as much as he did. I guess they are just hoping no one saw any video or photos when they make up this stuff.

      • Anna says:

He looked like I look when I feel a stranger’s look on myself and avoid it at all cost because I know he’ll want to talk to me. All while his wife is dressed in shiny golden dress and everyone notices her, but him. It’s pathetic and I would loose my mind in this relationship. Even if she only acts like a loving wife with those puppy eyes at him – he can’t even smile at her.

      • PrincessK says:

Exactly, he was really trying very hard not to look at her. Just how he behaved around Meghan avoiding eye contact. Awful man. Kate must really miss Harry.

  41. olliesmom says:

I’m seeing Hilarie Burton Morgan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s wife in the top photo. But Hillary is a nicer, warmer and more genuine person.

  42. Pamplemousse says:

Honestly, I almost gasped when I saw these pics. I’m usually meh about her style but she knocked it out of the park here. Can’t find anything to nitpick.

  43. Nicki says:

She looked stunning. A gorgeous look from top to bottom. Also an aggressively ‘I will not be ignored’ look. She was determined to be the focus of the event. Also, fresh Botox. Not even a 6-year-old can smile that hard without eye creases. But really, good for her. Baldingham deserves to be put into the shadows like that.

  44. Sofia says:

This definitely is the best Kate has looked in years, especially in recent years.

  45. Twinkle says:

    Can we just say Botox?
I actually find her style unnecessarily fussy and boring. I thought the dress was very Vegas showgirl.

  46. Watcher says:

She looks gorgeous – she has such a great bod, designers must love dressing her.

    • lulubrown says:

What bod, she’s too darn skinny. That dress is gorgeous but not on her, and her hair looks like a bird’s nest from the side. I think she actually looked her very best when she wore that black pants suit with her hair down for a theater event. Her handlers did the Most last night, and she didn’t even trend—all that for her not to even trend in the UK or anywhere else. I guess people weren’t WOW by her look after all. I mean, anything can trend these days. You just need 2000 people discussing it simultaneously, and that didn’t happen for her.

  47. Cee says:

She even wore Aquazzura shoes!!! LOL At least she’s now given Jecca Craig room to breathe in peace.

  48. Roo says:

I thought her makeup and dress were great. The hair, not so much. Looks too fussy for this dress. I think the dress needs looser, sexier 70s look.

  49. Giiiirl says:

Love the makeup. She actually looks fresh and young. Crazy how makeup can transform you, although I am positive she had subtle work done a few weeks before this event. That being said, the hair is very prom and her posture is bad for this dress.

  50. Marigold says:

I think she looks good. Her makeup is consistent with current trends and it’s doubtful that it inspired from anything other than that. She really has needed this makeover for awhile.

    • Amy Too says:

I think the point is that she didn’t notice the trend until she saw it in Meghan, though. People say this about a lot of Kate things that Celebitchy commenters and Kaiser link to her copying Meghan. “Pant suits/turtle necks/monochrome/Aquazurra heels/white superga tennis shoes/top handle bags/bronzey makeup/ delicate jewelry/cape dresses/messy bun are on trend right now, I don’t think she’s copying Meghan, *everyone* wears trousers and a messy bun.” Yeah, but Kate, specifically, didn’t start wearing those things until she saw them on Meghan first. Anyone else wearing a monochrome pant suit outfit with a messy bun, aquazurra heels, and carrying a small top handle bag, I’m not going to claim is copying Meghan. But Kate consistently copies. She has had no consistent sense of personal style for the past 20 years that we’ve been seeing her. She goes from grandma Queen dresses, to Jecca boho cosplay, to sleek Meghan trousers, to a full on copy of a Diana outfit from 1987. She even copies Zoom room set ups and social media styles from Meghan.

  51. Pocket Litter says:

Alexis Carrington vibes without any cushiony bosoms. TOB was too busy oogling Ana de Armas to pay any mind to Katie Keen. Egads, these people are awful.

  52. Keira says:

I think this is one of her best looks ever. She ought to wear a higher waistband like this dress more often. I agree she does look super relaxed…maybe they had some sexy time before the event.

    • BUBS says:

Baldy does not have sexy time with his wife please and we all know it. Heck, dude won’t even look at her lovingly, if he looks at all. Except she’s getting sexy time from elsewhere…LOL

    • Beach Dreams says:

LMAO. I must say, between the new names popping up and the usual suspects, y’all are putting in a LOT of work to try to make Duchess Dolittle shine. Guess all the other sites licking her ass aren’t enough for you people.

      • BUBS says:

Like! Her fans who couldn’t even get her to trend are suddenly putting in all this work here! Where were you all when she needed you to help her algorithm yesterday? I would be disappointed if I were her!

      • Haylie says:

Beach Dreams, I definitely noticed. It’s all her fans who have migrated from Meghan hate boards have: a dress, plus the brows and shoes she copied from Meghan. So sad for them. Especially the ones who have 50 accounts.

      • Becks1 says:

@BeachDreams – right??? It’s becoming so obvious at this point. Sexy time. Right. That’s why he doesn’t even look at her .

      • L84Tea says:

Oh yeah, they are working overtime today. It’s like college orientation day in CB!

      • Sofia says:

Oh good, glad to know others have noticed and I’m not being overly sensitive.

    • swirlmamad says:

LMAOOOO…Y’all are doing THE most, aren’t you????

  53. Elle says:

Meghan does the dewy, contouring, glowing look.

  54. Mads says:

I commented on another post about her eyebrows. They looked fake in some shots, almost like stickers. Possibly a combination of too much glossy foundation and lighting. Also, the botox is causing problems now; in some shots her eyes look lopsided with one eye looking larger than the other as she smiles.

  55. Emma says:

Meghan wore Safiyaa cape dresses (three years ago) in Morocco and Bali (I think?) in soft flowing fabric and beautiful colors. Those are some of my favorite looks on her. She did not dress up like a Christmas tree or Kendall Jenner at the Met. I have really liked some of Kate’s looks in the past but she shouldn’t go so heavy on the sequins.

  56. Seraphina says:

If only they put as much time trying to analyze what Kate actually does, as opposed to her make up routine before this event, they may see that all that glitters is not gold.

  57. Lila says:

Not gonna lie, I LOVE Padme hair. She always does something interesting with it. I wish Kate had gone all the way and added some crazy golden hair accessory.

  58. Colleen says:

The whole look is very “evil sci-fi queen” to me and I can’t unsee it.

  59. MerryGirl says:

No time to keen….Kaiser you are killing me LOL. As for her look, can I say showgirl or Christmas tree decoration?

  60. Kkat says:

She has a wonky eye now, it’s very noticeable

All these new names here, so obvious lol
    Go back to your caves

  61. Huggy says:

She actually looks very happy to me in these pictures. Definitely glowing!

  62. Margaret says:

I just have to say if you had on a 5,000.00 dress, wouldn’t you be happy, and to all the happy people who are paying for their wardrobe, you better be happy about the dress and her pant/trouser suit, it would be a terrible thing to pay for frocks you don’t like. Also I keep hearing this how you do it in the uk.
Well doesn’t matter whether,in the usa, if I like what they wear because I am not paying for the clothing on the Sussexes back. Gotta respect self supporting adults.

  63. phlyfiremama says:

I think it is a GREAT look overall: definitely one of her best ever. Let’s admit it, though, that really hasn’t been a very high bar until now. She is still vile.

  64. Tessa says:

Kate is not beautiful on the inside. She could have been. But missed the opportunity when Meghan joined the family.

  65. Cheryl says:

    Wowsers , she looks FABULOUS!

    • BUBS says:

Botox does that! Plus photoshop by the British media. She needs to work on her posture. Certainly, they teach that at “princess training”!

  66. Joanna says:

Everyone needs to read an article on DM about Kate and then one about Meghan to see the difference. The writers write bs like this one praising Kate but the ones about Meghan have a nasty tone to them. None of the ass kissing of the Kate articles.

  67. Rizzle says:

Can’t it be that Kate can look beautiful and so can Meghan, all in one universe? So much speculation; so much hatred towards a women that none of us actually know at all. To say that she “got the husband she deserves”, is cruel.

  68. Rizzle says:

Can’t it be that Kate can look beautiful and so can Meghan, all in one universe? So much speculation; so much hatred towards a women that none of us actually know at all. To say that she “got the husband she deserves”, is cruel.

    • BUBS says:

One cannot be beautiful when you treat another badly to prop yourself up. Kate couldn’t be bothered to correct the lie that Meghan made her cry, yet could ‘correct the truth’ that she uses botox! She stood aside as well and watched as her uncle trashed Meg and Harry in the press. A woman that does this – in addition to all her other passive shenanigans- is not beautiful.

  69. Jodie says:

    Not here

  70. MAX says:

PW is wearing a TON of bronzer.
