Court gives Lindsay Lohan extra year to complete probation

Lindsay Lohan has a shockingly long history of deciding that the laws don’t apply to her. From stealing cars and running over people’s feet, to stealing jewelry and clothing, to racking up multiple DUIs, there’s little Lohan hasn’t done. I don’t think she’s actually killed anyone yet, but given her moral character, I’d wager it’ll happen in the next ten years. Not only do laws not apply to Lohan, but the consequences obviously don’t either. This morning she was due in court to explain why she’s violated the terms of her 2007 DUI probation by refusing to complete her alcohol education class. Keep in mind, Lindsay’s choice was to take the class or go to jail. She’s had two years. You’d think even a lazy ass like her could pull it together. But why bother when the rules don’t apply to her? TMZ has a summary of what went down at the trial, and needless to say, justice was neither certain nor swift.

Lindsay Lohan showed up in court today with her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, to explain to a judge why she missed her alcohol education classes.

12:59 PM ET — Lindsay Lohan just arrived and was holding her lawyer’s hand.
1:05 PM ET — Lindsay’s attorney is giving the DA updated info on Lindsay’s alcohol program.
1:07 PM ET — Her lawyer says Lindsay has completed 15 of 26 group alcohol classes and 13 of 26 individual alcohol classes and 16 of 28 self help sessions.
1:08 PM ET — Chapman Holley says Lindsay is moving to Texas and is asking for a leave of absence from the program.
1:09 PM ET — Lindsay’s lawyer wants the judge to extend her probation a year so she can complete the program.
1:10 PM ET — The DA says if the court has to jump through hoops for Lindsay again, they want her to see jail time.
1:11 PM ET — The judge has agreed to extend Lindsay’s probation.
1:13 PM ET — The judge said she is “rooting for [Lindsay] to successfully complete her terms of probation.”
1:22 PM ET — The judge is allowing Lindsay to go to New York and another progress hearing has been set for December 15.

I get so ridiculously tired of how lenient the court system is with celebrities and with the probation system on the whole. Probation is such a joke. If you make an agreement not to go to jail in exchange for doing something within a specific timeframe, you should do exactly that. If you fail for any reason other than severe illness or a death in the family, you should go to jail and serve your time. Lohan had two years to finish something ridiculously simple. She is nothing but excuses and blame, never taking responsibility for the most obvious mistakes that she makes. And now she’s been given an entire additional year to finish her classes! It’s good there’s a hearing in December – it’s probably to make sure she’s actually doing something and making some progress, instead of putting it off then asking for more time. But I swear to God, if a year goes by and she still hasn’t completed her probation terms, I’m going to fly to L.A. with a pair of handcuffs, find a dungeon (I’m sure there’s plenty in L.A.) and lock her up myself.

What’s wrong with her lips? they look like they belong on a duck.

  2. Kimberly says:

it’s sad when you’re embarressed for a “celebrity”

  3. NIKKI says:

    moving to texas?

  4. Firestarter says:

    NICE!

I have mentioned before that I was an a-hole and got a DWI several years ago. I HAD to complete my classes and community service within 3 months of receiving my punishment, plus have my fines all paid that day.

I completed my community service and classes within 45 days. I also worked, so it was way more taxing on my time than Lindsay’s but I managed to respect the law and my freedom and do what I was told and complete it before I had to.

As usual, celebrities do not have to follow the same rules as the rest of us. Surprise, surprise!

  5. princess pea says:

They called her in to give her a fucking extension? That is disgusting. There is no reasonable excuse.

    She’s moving to Texas?

  6. nAynAy says:

That is pure bullshit. If it were me, I’m sure my ass would have been thrown in jail. That judge should have been ashamed of himself.

  7. Fat Elvis says:

NIKKI: Agreed. It looks like she injected them, herself. God, I hate this self-entitled, good-for-nothing-but-making-an-ass-of-herself skank. Ugh.

  8. andrea says:

naynay: you’re damn right you’d be in jail, as would any of the rest of us. when this girl kills herself or someone else, this judge should be thrown in jail too. she needs three goddam years to complete a series of classes which are keeping her ass from going to jail and meanwhile all she does is shop and get wasted??? the judge is rooting for her?? who the hell is this judge? dina?

  9. crash2GO2 says:

I look at it a different way. Why should my hard earned tax money go to paying her room and board? Kick her back out there to flounder on her own for awhile longer, as long as she isn’t a danger to anyone but herself.

  10. Lem says:

she’s right! the laws don’t apply to her. You know who else just made the point of laws not applying to them? John & McKenzie Phillips. Hmmm…

who does this judge think she is? A Kennedy for pete sake! (kidding) The laws don’t apply. This is a girl that took blow into the cops own house. Why would anyone think attending some class is ever going to happen.
The DA should push for drug test as a condition. like they did for Brit Brit. Even then, like as not, the laws would still not punish LL. She’s the new millenniums Charlie Sheen. He only ever went to jail because his more powerful pop begged the court to lock him up.

  11. Green Is Good says:

“I’m going to fly to L.A. with a pair of handcuffs, find a dungeon (I’m sure there’s plenty in L.A.) and lock her up myself.”

    **************************************

You may as well buy that ticket now, because the skank will have her lawyers get her out of shit again.

  12. Westender says:

Why is she moving to Texas? It can’t be to film a movie, she gave up acting to be a “fashion designer” !!!

  13. Firestarter says:

NIKKI- Please don’t insult the duck community! : )

  14. OXA says:

I am appalled that she got special treatment AGAIN.

  15. pickelhaube says:

Not surprised by this at all. There are two justice systems, one for us regular slobs like us, and one for the elite rich. I seem to remember this happening before in Tsarist Russia…and we all (hopefully) know what happened to the elites there. History repeats itself, yet these people never, ever learn. I say we fire up the guillotine now, get an early start!

Also, if Lohan kills someone because of drugs or alcohol, I hope this judge gets jail time. It is obvious that Lindsay does not believe the law applies to her, and it is disgusting to see that she is right in that belief. And people wonder why California is such a cesspool. I wish she’d pull this crap in VA or FL…she might have been in jail where she belongs.

  16. Kathie says:

This is just sick..kudo’s to Firestarter for cleaning up after his/her self and doing what was right but when it is an ordinary citizen facing the justice system they see to it that we toe the line, not so the celebrities! Is this Judge getting a cut from the Medical Examiner’s office? That is the only reason I can think that they would refuse to enforce the terms of probation. Moving to Texas? Oh well maybe she is going to become a Cowboy, who knows?

  17. Sakota says:

Pickelhaube you took the words and examples right out of my mouth. If I ever get so stupid that I commit a crime or drive drunk, I’m going to start pointing out the systematic hypocrisy that lets celebs get away with more in a year than I could in my entire life. See how they handle dealing with that argument!

  18. Firestarter says:

Kathie- Thanks, but seriously, no kudos to me for being an idiot and endangering the lives of others and myself for driving under the influence. I learned a very valuable and costly lesson which I hate that I had to learn because I was a moron!

  19. Vermithrax says:

Of course they do. Why wouldn’t they. She’s a “CELEB” after all. Meanwhile, anyone else in her situation could expect to rot in a cell somewhere… she must be special.

    Yeah, special.

    Thumbs down.

  20. Anoneemouse says:

Geesh – why so hard on the poor girl – it’s obvious why she hasn’t been able to finish the classes in 2 years – SHE’S BEEN WORKING PEOPLE! (lol eye roll) After all, she works much harder than any other young starlet in Hollywood – just ask her!

  21. Tia C says:

Of course “Hollywood justice” prevailed. I don’t know why I expected anything else, but I’m still disappointed.

I know this is un-PC, but her lips look RETARDED.

Firestarter – man, don’t be so hard on yourself. You did the crime and you did the time, so to speak. It’s in the past.

  22. jule says:

pfffffffft!!! I love the examples of Tsarist Russia and the French Revolution. I am waiting for the rebellion, I will make signs. I think she stole that bow off my friends newborn. I think I am so pissed off at this that I am babbling incoherently.

  23. hatsumomo says:

Ok, when I’m walking dwntwn with my man and we ever see this ho on the Riverwalk, I’m punching her in the face. Period. Lets hope we never see her in S.A.
Generally, I’m not a violent person nor would I ever instigate a fight, but this chick is pushing it.
My man had to face DUI charges when he went to our fave bar to have two beers that were on sale that few bars carry (Dogfishhead), and having just got his brand new sports car the previous month, sped home. Naturally he got pulled over and admitted the two beers and was arrested right then. And he lived with a damn breathalyzer in his car for a year (all 365 days), pay his fines, pay his laywer(2 grand we really couldnt spare) jailed for two days, plus C.S. And this bitch is in and out of court in half an hour?!?! Where is justice?

  24. GatsbyGal says:

    God damnit god damnit!!

  25. TwinkleToes says:

Get Yer Tickets, He’Ya! Prayer Circle forming for this little lady. That judge failed. Could have saved her life or at least have bettered it. Light candle now and say prayer. Go!

  26. Jazz says:

How come RDJ got jail time for breaking probation and this skank and girls like her get a slap on the wrist?!

  27. Jag says:

Because judges do what they want. There isn’t a mandatory anything for any sentence, only recommendations, if that. So get a lenient judge, and you go free; get a tight-a$$ and you do the maximum. Add into that being star-struck for celebs, and they get away with everything sometimes.

  28. kathryn says:

As a resident of Texas, she better not come eff up our state. I don’t want to waste my tax dollars on her.

  29. Sakota says:

Maybe she should go to Texas and after she does something stupid she’ll actually go to jail. That’s what I love about Texas so much they actually punish the criminals.

  30. thedomesticgoddess says:

Fricking typcial. Or maybe the judge is just giving her enough rope to hang herself … cheaper and less tawdry than having her hang herself at the taxpayer’s expense.

  31. paranel says:

What has she done to her lips ? Why Hollywood only demands one “Generic”
face ? This is so sad. On another note, Lindsay is still a troubled girl, sad to say. She could have a lot more going for her if she put her mind and body in the right place. Look at Britney Spears. That could be inspirational to Linds. Get with it girl. You are too good not to.

  32. blohan says:

Oh right — TX loves lesbian drinking druggie divas wearing black leggings terrorizing their nightspots … good luck w/that, freak!

  33. NicoleAM says:

I thought she did spend time in jail at one point? Wasn’t she incarcerated for a whopping hour or so?
With junkies I believe you should lock them up or force them into rehab. Probation isn’t going to do d**k. But yea, the rich abide by different laws then the rest of us. That’s a reason I don’t vote. But if anyone is interested in starting a revolution in the future, count me in!

  34. Lia says:

Another silly star-struck judge. No decision that judge makes after this can be taken seriously, nor should it be.

  35. Dani says:

I believe she’ll be filming for a Robert Rodriguez movie around Austin, Texas.

  36. NFLer says:

Does she ever not like high or stoned?
