We’re getting an emo sequel to ‘The Batman’ with Robert Pattinson

I was going to rent The Batman whenever it came out on Vudu, but HBO aired the movie this past weekend, so I ended up watching it and enjoying it! Robert Pattinson is pretty good in the role and I simply adore Millennial Emo Bruce Wayne. Now, is the movie perfect? No. Far from it. While I appreciated the emphasis on “Detective Batman” and the fact that he was actually trying to solve crimes and put the pieces together, I did feel like we actually needed some (gasp) Bruce Wayne backstory and some additional characterization for Emo Bruce. I also think it’s kind of absurd that Batman, in all of his fancy tactical gear and Bat-Kevlar, just wanders in and out of crime scenes and active hostage situations, messing up the chain of custody and screwing up actual investigations. Anyway, we’re getting a sequel, Bat-bitches!

“The Batman” is getting a sequel, with Robert Pattinson set to return as Gotham’s fiercest defender.

Warner Bros. revealed its plans for another Caped Crusader story during its Tuesday evening presentation at CinemaCon, the annual trade show for theater owners. “The Batman” director Matt Reeves was on hand to announce the news that he will write and direct the follow-up, but he did not provide any details about what the movie will entail.

“The Batman,” a gritty three-hour superhero adventure, debuted on the big screen in March, kicking off with $134 million domestically. Those ticket sales still rank as the biggest opening weekend of 2022, as well as only the second pandemic-era movie to cross the $100 million mark in a single weekend following “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” With $759 million to date at the global box office, “The Batman” is currently the highest grossing movie of the year.

I think it’s fine? I’ve always been okay with the Batman franchise out of all of the comic book franchises. The Batman made lots of money, of course they were going to get a sequel. Robert Pattinson seems to enjoy the character and he really went for it, and he’s good in the role, honestly. Plus, we’ll get more wonderful Pattinson interviews where he calls Bruce a dude who has had a complete nervous breakdown and someone who has created an intricate Bat-persona to avoid self-harm. I’m truly looking forward to it.

No lie, I watched this movie just for his face. There was some Copaganda in it, in amongst the classic trope of maverick rich boy doing whatever he wants.

He was good and brooding but the 3 hour run time was tough. It took me 2 tries to finish the thing!

Me too. I loved it. I hope Zoe is coming back too.

I hope so. Hope they get a huge salary bump for the next one. They were great and Zoe’s face looked gorgous. Also loved Colin. May he too return. Not thrilled with Paul Dano. I would have cast a star instead of him.

Way to go Battinson! I’m a Batman fan and really like Matt Reeve’s film. Hope Greig Fraser returns as cinematographer.

Super excited about a sequel and hope we get to see some new villains (please, no Joker as primary antagonist).

I watched it this weekend and enjoyed it. This is a movie that I honestly think would have been better in the theaters, BUT it’s going to be a long time before I spend time in a theater. I found Zoe to be the weakest link honestly, and I like her as an actress. I just didn’t find her believable. Anne Hathaway was better IMO.

Can’t wait for the sequel, and I hope we’ll see Bruce developing his public Bruce Wayne persona. And I hope they go with some other villains and not the Joker. The movie was fantastic on the big screen, and it does lose a little in the translation into tv. Robert actually does a tremendous amount of acting with just his eyes, and its hard to see under the cowl on a tv screen. See it on the big screen if you can!

The Batman was great. Saw it in IMAX and the experience was very immersive. Excited that they are doing a sequel, and most likely already planned as a trilogy. Robert Pattinson is a perfect Batman with his facial structure….jawline!

We watched it this weekend but my husband insisted on buying it “to have it” even though its on HBO. (insert eyeroll here)

I actually liked it. I liked that they made him this recluse that no one ever sees as opposed to this playboy that is very famous in gotham – it just made it make more sense that no one recognized him with the mask on. Sorry Christian Bale, I can still tell its you even with the mask. the mask doesn’t hide THAT much lol. And I thought there was more backstory to Gotham’s corruption rather than just hearing “its corrupt.” It definitely had more of a detective/noir vibe than a comic book vibe and I liked that.

I did not like the big scene at the end (I dont want to give spoilers), but overall I liked the movie.

I loved the fact that that this version of Batman is so grounded! It gave such a visceral, humanist quality to a character who often feels so unrelatable and out of reach. Matt Reeves has said he was partially inspired by the Year One comic arc, which was quite literally Bruce in the early stages figuring out *how* to Batman, so in that sense I think it was quite successful.

I loved seeing Baby Bruce being a bit of a high school emo (the gothy eye makeup! A penchant for Nirvana!), having some vulnerability (both in his tech/gear and with his emotions), and sometimes being bad at his job, lol.
