The last time I really paid any attention to Liam Payne, he was in a messy relationship with Cheryl Cole/Tweedy. Liam and Cheryl began dating in 2016, were on-and-off for a few years, and they welcomed their son Bear Grey Payne in 2018, then they were done for good less than a year later. After Liam and Cheryl were done, Liam started up with Maya Henry, an American model who was 18 years old at the time (she’s 21 now). Liam and Maya seem to have had a tumultuous relationship too, but they still got engaged in 2020. Well, now they’re done. It looks like he was cheating.
Liam Payne and Maya Henry have called it quits — again. A rep for the singer confirms to PEOPLE that Payne, 28, and his fiancée have split for the second time. PEOPLE has learned the pair broke up over a month ago.
Henry, 22, hasn’t addressed the breakup, though she recently commented on a fan-posted photo of Payne with another woman, writing, “I love all of the fans so much but please stop sending me these pictures of my fiancé wrapped around another woman. This is not me and it’s hard enough knowing this has happened without seeing it. Enough now.”
The former One Direction singer was first linked to Henry, a model, in 2018. They confirmed their romance in September 2019, and Payne popped the question to Henry in August 2020.
The two then called it quits in June of last year, with Payne saying on The Diary of a CEO podcast that he’s “just not been very good at relationships.” But it wasn’t long until they were spotted out together two months later in St. Tropez and eventually returned to the red carpet as a couple that October in London.
Yeah, after their breakup last year, they got back together and they still said they were engaged. While Liam’s people clearly went around, telling media outlets that Liam and Maya split a month ago, Maya still called him her “fiance” and she clearly felt like he cheated on her when they were still very much together. What a mess. I mean… in the long-term, she will be glad to be rid of him, especially since this engagement seemed stupidly dramatic and especially since he’s a cheater. But yikes, what a way for this to go down.

1D fans are so weird…..they’re babying this man as if he can’t make any decisions in his life. This is either a “stunt” because this is a fake relationship and apparently the girl is his “beard” or she’s lying for clout and he didn’t cheat.
How many 1D members were there? It seems there’s always a story about an ex-member, and that the supply of members is endless. It’s tiring. In the U.S., usually just one boy band member is heard from after the break-up (ex. Justin Timberlake, Nick Lachey) and often that gossip is irritating. This second Liam from the group seems like a jerk. I hope there’s not a second Harry, too.
Only one Liam, the other guy is LOUIS Tomlinson, who seems to be much nicer but regrettably less popular. This dude and Zayn always seemed to be the more unstable members of 1D, and I guess that’s bearing out now. Both guys also overuse substances, which seems to be a common theme among male stars who can’t keep it in their pants. Beer goggles are real, guys. It’s hard to make good choices if you keep deliberately impairing your judgment.
Louis is less popular cause he can’t sing. Niall has an audience, and can be said is arguably the 2nd most successful one, but he hasn’t released anything in awhile. There’s Zayn who has disappeared cause he’s a mess and then there is Liam, who is also a mess.
Maybe go be a dad to your son instead of this BS… he reminds me of this douche bag I was involved with this highschool. This Maya girl got lucky. Run, girl! RUN!

He’s super unproblematic so you never hear from him – probably exactly what he wants given the “fans” 1D attracted.
I remember when Maya made international news many years ago for her blowout, multi-million-dollar 15th birthday party (quinceañera; I believe she’s half-Mexican). I recall that she was an excellent tennis player and student, and she and her family supported Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. Basically, she seemed to be the opposite of Nicola Peltz. I wish her the best.
As far as I can remember: Harry, Zayn, Louis, Niall, Liam. Louis and Niall have moderate post-1D success, with very little public exposure. Zayn and Liam quickly became overexposed (as a result of high-profile relationships with more popular, very glamorous women who were very different from the men in terms of lifestyle and personality) and became resentful/over-entitled over time, alongside a waning of public interest as the relationships stopped moving tabloids. Harry has been very successful professionally, got together with Olivia Wilde, who isn’t super-popular but seems to click well with him, so he’s experiencing a bit of a career high.
