Chris Evans says people comment on his weight loss since Captain America

When I first heard about Lightyear, I didn’t want any part of it. Now that my TL is awash in photos of Chris Evans, I fully endorse this movie, whatever it’s about. I’m sure I’ll come around on the film that I didn’t think needed to be made. But seriously, any time I get to watch birthday boy (June 13) Chris do anything, I’m a happy witch. And I don’t care what size he is, unlike some fair-weather fans. When Chris was talking to Kevin Polowy of Yahoo, he said that people note his weight loss since he’s walked away from his Captain America role. Copping to being about 15 pounds lighter, Chris said people ask him if he’s “OK” because he’s “lost a bit of weight.”

In a new interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Chris was asked about saying goodbye to the role and he said it’s been “a literal weight off. I’ve shed, like, 15 pounds,” he said. “Every time people see me, they say, ‘You OK? You lost a bit of weight.’ Yeah, I haven’t had to hit the gym as hard.”

[From Just Jared]

I put the segment below. Chris sounds like he’s being irreverent so let’s hope that’s true. I hope folks have learned that discussing weight is not helpful. In this case, Chris sounds like he’s projecting what people are thinking. I can tell him what I’m thinking, he looks fine with a capital F. Whatever time he is or is not spending in the gym, he wears it well.

You know what else he wears well? A white tee and jeans, which is what Chris wore to Disney California Adventure Park after the Lightyear premiere. Chris got to pose with all his pals, including the characters of Toy Story, Inside Out and Mickey and Minnie. Only people accused Chris of photoshopping himself into the pics because he’s doing the exact same pose in each. Chris said he swears they’re legit photos, he “just has a very disciplined pose.” I call bs. I think he’s in the photos, but he’s such a Disney fan, he’s probably star-struck and worried about saying something dumb in front of his heroes. I wonder if he went to the new Avengers Campus while he was at the park?

Oh – and we know the puppy interview has been filmed. It’s only a matter of days before we get it folks!

Are those chest tattoos peaking through his shirt?

I found him better looking as Captain America, doesn’t do it for me as just Chris Evans for some reason.

  2. Pinkosaurus says:

Every time I see that picture, it looks like his belly button is busting out of a tattered shirt. It’s like a hulk tribute.

It’s been nice seeing him again doing press for a film. I’m looking forward to the puppy interview. I’m looking forward to the Gray Man press with Ryan Reynolds. I’m loving the gray in the beard and even the tats peeking out. I am into it.

Maintaining the physique of a professional body builder takes time and effort. If he doesn’t want to look that way anymore, if he doesn’t want to put in that kind of effort any longer now that he’s not paid for it, he’s made the right choice in shedding some weight. If you don’t keep training, those muscles turn to fat. A healthy adjustment to his diet is imho the best choice and he should not be shamed for it. He still looks fit and buff.

    • North of Boston says:

Physiologically, muscles cannot turn into fat. Muscle cells are muscle cells, fat cells are fat cells.

If you stop training, or as I suspect he did, based what is known about training for Marvel characters, stop the intensive training and nutrition to build SH muscles, you will lose muscle mass. That may make any fat you have more noticeable and/or make you look less toned.

And sure, if you become a couch potato who is eating way more than your body needs, (or develop certain illnesses, start taking steroids, have a genetic predisposition to middle age weight gain) you’re likely to gain fat.
But it doesn’t look like that’s what’s happening to him.

He looks like he downshifted from training to play a muscled superhero to “just” training to maintain the physique of a buff, fit actor … that’s fine, still requires work, and from all appearances he’s succeeding at it.

    • The Recluse says:

Since he’s no longer playing a super hero it made perfect sense that he would adjust his work out routine. It must have been exhausting to try to maintain that physique and now that’s he over 40, like the rest of us, it makes sense to focus on being healthy, which he looks, enviably so.

But where is Dodger? The best part of Chris is Dodger.

    Bless you/ swooon

Chris Evans in the orange/white/black shirt in those many pictures is like a gift of snacks for days. Love me some Chris. And I still think he should have dated Lizzo. Hell, I would have (but she’s taken for now). For me, it’s not just his looks, but his good-natured happiness and contentment in being alive and doing what he does. Okay. Enough.

    • Call Me Mabel says:

Chris Evans saw those pics of Lizzo with her boyfriend from last week and needed to remind us all of the Vanilla Frosty goodness she could have ordered. Lol.

    • girl_ninja says:

As much as I like Lizzo I didn’t like the way she acted toward Chris. If a guy had said some of what she’d said he would have been called out. I’m sure he was flattered (as he should be) but it crossed the line for me. I appreciate her crush cause I get it but it was too much.

  9. Kelsey says:

I haven’t noticed, I’ve been swooning over him either way lmao

  10. MsIam says:

Yeah, I wouldn’t kick him to the curb for sure, lol. He seems like a fairly nice guy too, which is an even bigger plus.

  11. katherine says:

he’s one of the few celebs I still get giddy over lol. I saw this video and just ahhhh https://twitter.com/alex_abads/status/1534907029139116032

  12. CourtneyB says:

He’s one of my faves out there. Pretty much everyone who works with him loves him, even years later. (Check out Octavia Spencer’s birthday Instagram for the awwws. ) You don’t hear nasty gossip. (Though he gets tarnished with the sex dungeon stories and others because of the British Chris Evans.) And I empathize with his anxiety issues. It’s great when any public figure is open about if for reducing the stigma but I think he also helps reduce the stigma especially for those least inclined to admit it and get help—men. Can’t wait for lightyear and The Gray Man.

  13. Emme says:

The pose in the Disney pics isn’t the same. One has the legs slightly further apart, and the seam in the tarmac is in a different place so I think they clearly show he has his stance (the same one in the multi-coloured shirt) that he always does, but he hasn’t photoshopped himself into the pics. Such a gorgeous man….my favourite Chris!
