Brooklyn Beckham ‘always wanted to be a young dad’: ‘I could have had kids yesterday’

While Chris Evans is officially People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive, People Mag also highlighted some other “sexy men” in this week’s issue. From what I’ve seen, they chose… nepotism babies? Hopper Penn – Sean Penn’s son – got a profile. So did Brooklyn Beckham! Brooklyn tries so hard to be a thing, and being included in People’s SMA issue will definitely feed his ego. In the profile, Brooklyn talks about living in America with his American wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, and how he’s, like, really into cooking right now. I know he has his Facebook cooking show or whatever, but I just find it funny that doesn’t have a ton of stuff going on, which is probably why he’s so eager for Nicola to have a baby.

Brooklyn Peltz Beckham is loving newlywed life! The budding chef, who is featured in PEOPLE’s 2022 Sexiest Man Alive issue as part of a portfolio of famous sons, opens up about his “tiny bubble” with Nicola Peltz Beckham, whom he wed in April.

“Her family lives in Florida and mine in the UK, but we have our own life out here in LA and it’s really really lovely,” says Beckham, whose parents are soccer star David Beckham and designer Victoria. “Just having each other’s company, it’s the best.”

Date nights at the Peltz-Beckham household range from restaurant hopping (“we love sushi,” he says) to cozy nights in. “I’m really into making fresh homemade pasta right now,” says Beckham, whose specialities also include baked goods and traditional English bangers and mash. “I cook for [Nicola]. And the big thing that relaxes me is when we just lay in bed with our dogs and watch Love Island. We love it!”

And when it comes to future plans to expand the family, Beckham is more than ready.

“I could have had kids yesterday,” he says. “Obviously it’s my wife’s body, but I’ve always wanted to have a bunch of kids around. That’s something I really want to do. And my dad was young when he had me. He was 23. And I’m 23 now. I’ve always wanted to be a young dad.”

And Beckham says that over the years, he’s learned plenty from his famous father, PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2015. “He’s a very hard worker, and he taught me to work hard,” says Beckham. “And to be nice to absolutely everyone.”

“I love my dad’s style,” says Beckham. “I think it’s cool. I always used to steal his clothes. But once I was done stealing them, I wanted to come up with my own style. Baggy jeans, a tee shirt and some Vans or something like that. Very skater, early 2000s for sure.”

I wonder about the kids thing, because Nicola has made it abundantly clear that she’s not ready to have babies right now. She wants to work, she’s got sh-t to do. I’ll say something nice about Brooklyn though – I think he would be beyond happy to be a house-husband and stay-at-home father. Like, he doesn’t want the drag of trying to make “being a celebrity cook” into his thing, nor does he have the need to start a whole new career when he gets bored of the chef thing. He just wants to stay home and cook for his wife and take care of a baby. I’m kind of rooting for him? Is that weird?

As long as she’s cool with it, I think it’s great for kids to have a parent home who is enthusiastic about raising them. But it can be difficult to find a partner who values that role in a family enough to support it.

    • Kitten says:

Yes her being cool with it is KEY lol. But I like that he acknowledged it’s her body. I know our expectations for men are low, but this simple acknowledgment is nice to hear because so many men talk about wanting to have huge families without mentioning what kind of hell this could mean for their partner lol. At least they’re lucky enough to have the money and resources to support it.

  2. Ameerah M says:

He truly is a homely looking young man. It’s so odd to me when two attractive people have average looking children. It’s like they cancel each other out.
I do wonder if there age difference will ever become an issue. It’s not a huge one but he’s only 23. Which is really young in man years.

    • Ang says:

There is nothing remotely sexy about this man. Sometimes you have to just accept that you aren’t attractive. Why are they pushing this so hard!?

    • Brassy Rebel says:

I don’t think he’s homely, just average looking. Definitely not SMA material.

    • Concern Fae says:

This whole nepo babies trend has to end at some point, right?

It annoys me that actually talented people with relatives in the business are getting dragged into the hate, because it actually serves to pump up the credibility of complete posers like these two.

    • Frnk27 says:

He looks a lot like his dad when he was younger. David Beckham grew more and more attractive as he aged. He wasn’t all that when he was in his early 20’s. More attractive than his son but not by a lot. David Beckham now is undeniably hot.

      • Emme says:

Untrue. David Beckham was always good looking! Look at his pics when he got married (just about a year older than Brooklyn) and compare that sculpted face to chubby-faced Brooklyn.

  3. Imogen_N says:

Not weird at all, I am definitely rooting for him. I remember wanting to be a stay at home mom as a young black woman just entering college and none of my friends understood that desire (and definitely threw shade). I think it was because I graduated number 3 in my class in high school and I excelled academically in college also. I rooted and still root for them as they excel in their careers but I always acknowledge (internally) the more money I make and the more I move up in my career this isn’t what I wanted! Not everyone has the same desires and sometimes our biggest desires seem basic af!

    • ME says:

      Nothing wrong with that !

    • Barbiem says:

Yep. I wanted to be a stay at home mom in my late 20s early 30s but realized I did not set my life up to make that happen. Felt trapped to change it. Im a nurse. My kid is in college now. But I would have been perfectly happy being a home maker and mommy not working 10hr overnight shifts.

  4. Lucía says:

I don’t know. I mean, he seems like a perfectly nice lad. I don’t wish him ill.

    • ME says:

He may not be career driven, but I susupect he’s a really good husband and will probably be a great dad. He needs to mature a bit before bringing a human into this world though. I guess that will give him more purpose? I mean some women are stay a home moms, so I guess he could be a stay at home dad, with nannies, chefs, and maids lol.

  5. Luna17 says:

Lol everytime a nepotism baby talks about “working hard” – just don’t. You have no idea what that is and will never know what actual hard work is.

  6. teehee says:

She does look flawless tho, huh 😛

  7. molly says:

I think the unlikely longevity of his parent’s marriage, and it’s current state of happiness, is giving him a real false sense of confidence about the ease of “fame” and marriage. David and Victoria came from close, traditional, unfamous families and were very successful in actual jobs. And yet statistically, they still should NOT have worked out (fame, infidelity, kids young, distance, etc.).

Brooklyn is one huge degree away from “normal” and Nicola is a few too. I genuinely hope they work out, but the stats are even less in their favor than they were for either of their parents. (Although 4+ years for the Biebers is probably three more than most people would have guessed, so it can be done, I guess.)

  8. Sue E Generis says:

Seems like he’s looking for some kind of purpose in life. Also, no pun intended, but he strikes me as being not finished cooking. He’s still a kid hero worshipping his father and channeling his dad in everything.

  9. BeanieBean says:

He’s seems sweet, really, and is such a doofus. Good luck to them both!

  10. one of the marys says:

I googled Hopper Penn, he’s unfortunate looking

    • BrainFog 💉💉💉😷 says:

First of all: what a lovely thing to say.
Secondly: now you made me google him, and I think he’s quite good looking. He’s got a “young liam neeson” thing going on, or Ethan Hawke, dunno. Anyway, he’s the opposite of fugly.
I question his drug consumption choices though.

      • Sugarhere says:

I respectfully disagree. Please, don’t put manly charismatic beguiling Liam Neeson in that bunch. Besides, he is immensely talented, which isn’t quite the case of those lads who can boast no discernible beauty, talent or merit. They were born lucky. That’s it.

Hopper Penn looks exactly like @One of the Marys said. And she put it mildly and diplomatically.

  11. AnneL says:

I was surprised to read David Beckham was only 23 when Brooklyn was born. Rich people do often have kids early, I guess.

I think he seems harmless. And he’s not unattractive, just nothing special. He has nice bone structure and skin. His eyes really small, which is interesting since his mother has such big cat eyes. I guess he takes after his father there?

  12. jferber says:

Nicola is, to me at least, so obviously a rapacious, hard-as-nails, manipulative, attention-grabbing horror. She easily hooked poor, simple Brooklyn and he has NO IDEA who she really is, in my opinion. I don’t believe she will be okay with Brooklyn being a low-key, stay at home dad and husband. She obviously wants him to raise her profile A LOT and if he’s not power-couple material, she will set him loose. She clearly wants to be a mega-celebrity (Kardashian level) and he will never take her there. He’s in for a heartbreak. A big one.

    • Frnk27 says:

Maybe she should follow in the footsteps of the Kardashians and earn her fame and success by putting in the work. Novel idea, I know. Sure their dad was part of OJ Simpson’s legal team but he was never a household name for the masses. His girls have brought him a lot of posthumous fame. They leveraged his “fame” into a multi billion dollar empire.

      • AlishaB says:

FRNK27 You mean KRIS leveraged his fame into an empire. She was the one who brokered all the contracts for their show, gigs for the girls, and the tape that made Kim famous. They may handle their affairs now but she is the reason they are where they are. If Nicola wants to reach their level, she needs a Kris in her life.

  13. jferber says:

Frnk27, I think Nicola thinks she’s putting in the work by marrying Brooklyn and starting a feud with his mother, unfortunately.
