Here are some photos of Taylor Swift at the MTV Europe Awards in Germany over the weekend. Apparently, this was a surprise appearance by Swift, although I doubt it was a surprise appearance for the people who track her private planes! Taylor got all dolled up in this custom David Koma dress and I have some thoughts! First of all, while Taylor has experimented with “sexier” looks over the years, she usually doesn’t show much skin, and this dress feels enormously out of character for her. The low-cut neckline, all of the cleavage, bare back plus the fact she’s basically just wearing a swimsuit with a bejeweled sarong – it’s very strange. I also think that her thick, country bangs are incongruous with such a sexy look?
Anyway, Taylor ended up winning four EMAs and she made some nice but unremarkable speeches. It came as Taylor’s Midnights was finally dethroned from the top of the Billboard charts – while Midnights is still the biggest release and best-selling album of 2022, Drake & 21 Savage’s Her Loss has topped the charts and now Midnights is #2. Taylor will still outsell Drake in the end, and her sales and chartings are still making history.

Why the strange, uncomfortable toes-together pose?
It looks like she was snapped while adjusting her position more so than posing. It can be hard shifting around on carpet in stilettos.

Lol it totally does look like fancy chicken wire. No me gusta. I’m pretty sure I saw another pic of her in a different dress so I wonder if she ever sat down in this one. I’d imagine not because she’d have a weird imprint on her legs/butt all night.

Out of character. She looked uncomfortable so exposed. And it’s kinda weird to do full-leg reveal and cleavage — usually people pick one or the other!

Love it! Unusual and unexpected. While I usually don’t like thick bangs it’s great on her. I appreciate she’s a talented young woman succeeding regularly, excellent role model for other young woman.
Maybe this is a fashion reference to the Bejeweled song/music video? Not my favorite look of hers, she looks good but doesn’t seem to be 100% comfortable in it which takes away from the final look.
And a green metallic shoe to pull out the gems would have been much more fun than this shoe choice.
I saw her in this last night as she moved to pose for pics with fans and while moving, it looked nice but in pics not so nice.
It’s so subjective what we think about fashion, which adds to the fun. I saw this dress on Taylor and I thought it looked great, one of my favorite things she’s worn. It’s different for her but I’m here for it.
Quite fun, but basically a black swimsuit with a gem-studded wire cage. You’d really have to work it to bring it to life to make it a fun outfit, though.

Taylor is recovering from an eating disorder, so pregnancy speculation isn’t the best in this case. And I highly doubt that’s the case, as she’s about to embark on a huge tour starting in spring 2023.
pregnancy speculation is never the best. we’ve been over and over this here. women have a right to their bodily privacy and scrutinizing and speculating on women’s bodies is gross. criticize the fashion, stay out of her uterus.
Don’t love this on her. She’s always done glam without being a full on sexualized object. This is too much. But her hair is gorgeous, that color never stops working for her.
FFS. stand up straight. This rule applies to everyone. Also this look is a nope.
I get so irritated whenever I see a celeb in a designer outfit or in a photoshoot and no one in the style dept or the fashion house could have made sure the bust fits. The amount of too small cups drives me nuts. All this money, all these eyes on the look, all the pre-planning and yet no one could give these women a larger cup that fits.
There’s a video of her approaching some fans on the red carpet to take selfies with them and she keeps trying to cover her chest with her arms. She was obviously uncomfortable. I think she could pull off a sexy-but-covered up look better.
I really dislike the sheer dresses. They generally look cheap.
She looks so uncomfortable. The photos are awkward, but you should see the videos- on Instagram there are vids of her posing for photos with fans and she just doesn’t know what to do with her angles with that much of her chest on display.
I think it’s hard because there’s “fake it til you make it” but some people can’t get out of their own heads and it’s obvious.
I love Taylor but I would rather see her ~sparkling~ in something where she looks and feels radiant.
Yeah, as someone who also doesn’t typically wear low-cut looks, I totally recognized and understood her discomfort. Sometimes you think it’s a fun idea to take a risk, but in practice it feels awkward to be so exposed when you’re not used to it.
I thought her dress during the show was much cuter and worked better with the hair – kind of a disco ball polo tennis dress I guess I’d describe it as?
It would have worked better with a turtleneck top.
Those bathing suit bottom outfits always read as “I forgot to put on my pants” to me. They barely work on stage.

I like bits of it, but not the whole dress. For example, I like the jewel-sarong, but I’d like it to continue up past her boobs. I like the neckline, but it looks like she’s wearing a one-piece swimsuit, so I’d rather the bodice ended at her ribs to expose a few inches of midriff, and then re-started as hot-pants or a mini-skirt.
Overall, she looks great, but the dress is a bit “almost”.
This would’ve been amazing with tall boots instead of heels.
