Taylor Swift is adorable on SNL, spoofs Kristen Stewart & Shakira

So far, Taylor Swift was my favorite host of Saturday Night Live this season. She was absolutely adorable, funny, charming, talented, with a healthy dash of total dork. I have to admit – she did a better job than Gerard Butler, and you know I love everything he does. There were two standout moments in during the show, and both of them were all Taylor. The first highlight (for me) was her opening monologue (video above). Usually, you tell just how painful the evening is going to be just be how badly the host eats it during their first few minutes.

Instead of biting the dust fast, Taylor chose to strum her guitar and play a lovely, hilarious little ditty called “Monologue”. This song was excellent! Taylor sang/joked about her ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas (“You might think I’d bring up Joe Jonas, that guy who broke up with me on the phone, but I’m not gonna mention him in my monologue. Hey Joe, I’m doing real well. Tonight, I’m hosting SNL. But I’m not gonna brag about that in my monologue. La la la. Ha ha ha. La la la.”) She references her boyfriend Taylor Lautner, mouthing his name, winking and blowing him a kiss. And of course, she mentioned Kanye: “You might be expecting me to say something about Kanye and how he ran up on the stage at the VMAs. But there’s nothing more to say, ’cause everything’s OK. I’ve got security lining the stage.” Damn, I wish Jason Sudekis was my bodyguard. That man can wear a suit.

The second highlight (in a great night) was the spoof of Twilight called “Firelight”. I can’t even describe how awesome Taylor was as Kristen Stewart/Bella. The gist of digital short spoof was that instead of falling for a sparkly vampire, Bella falls for one of “The Franks”, or Frankenstein. I’m still laughing out loud with the whole “I might accidentally choke you to death” joke:

Taylor also did a kick-ass Shakira impression and a so-so Kate Gosselin in “The View” spoof. Another favorite was the “Parents are bad drivers too” skit, for which Taylor still dazzled in some awful headgear.

In one more piece of Tay-Tay news, on Friday Taylor Lautner sort-of confirmed that he and Swift were dating. When asked about her, he told phalanx of reporters that “The very funny thing is that all of you have seen every single move I make, so I guess I can leave that up to you to decide.” Lautner also answered questions about the possibility Swift would write a song about him: “That’s a scary thing. I don’t know if she has. I have no idea.”

Here are some really adorable pictures of Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner leaving Alice & Olivia boutique in Los Angeles on October 28, 2009. Photo credit: WENN.

she did a good job on SNL. loved the “firelight” lip-biting sketch. and i thought her Kate Gosselin was hilarious.

I agree Kaiser, this was the best SNL of the season. Firelight was the best digital short in a very long time and the opening monologue was so well done.

Did anyone notice Bill Hader losing it during the not so good “scared straight” skit? He was shaking to keep himself from laughing at the end…

  3. Lantana says:

She really is so pretty. I don’t think photos do her justice. I hope she stays on track, because she appears to have a very bright future.

  4. Firestarter says:

I am glad she did a good job on SNL. I saw the Firelight skit and it was cute.

    She is adorable!

  6. Bodhi says:

She was heeelarious! The firelight skit was awesome!

I thought she did really well on SNL – better than some other “professional” actors have done. Considering she’s a singer with no acting experience, and she’s pretty young still, she did great!
Firelight was hilarious, and I thought her Shakira impression was great. I also enjoyed the driving skit and her opening monologue song.
Best episode of the season so far, and Taylor was a great host and musical guest.

Just viewed this last night. She is adorable! Not afraid to make fun of herself, not even hating on Kanye Dipwest. Love her. More class in her little finger than many adult performers.

  9. Kimberly says:

I can’t help but notice the fabulous shoes she wears , but she says she’s like 5’11” to 6 feet . so her shoes must be like 10 or 11 or 12 even . i didn’t know louboutins made shoes that big .

  10. wow says:

Love her! So talented, so TALL!

Team TayTay! Okay, I’ll stop. 🙂

  11. gg says:

Oh good grief, only high school kids make fun of shoe sizes. A six-foot-tall girl is going to have commeasurate feet to stay upright. And 10 is not that huge. Models wear 10s and 11s all the time and I don’t see anybody mocking their feet.

  12. Kimberly says:

actually i’m not mocking Taylor , because I actually am her measurements in height and shoes . Shoes are aggravatingly hard to find especially the cute shoes she wears so im just observing that designer shoes come in that size . i just wish i had her financial status though .

I’ma let you girls finish, but did Beyonce ever host SNL? Cause if she did, it was the best hosting of all time!

  14. Daisy says:

Kevin…That was funny.anyways,I love Taylor. She is sooo talented.everything she does, she does well.I know people say she cant sing, but I think her voice is sweet and tender. If u actually listen to the songs she writes…she is miles away from most of Hollywood,even..dare I say…Queen beyonce

  15. For Sooth? says:

I’m one of the ones that say she can’t sing. I’ve heard her do atrociously at least three venues in a row. I have to give her credit for the popular song. I noticed that she had ear pieces and my husband says that she was probably singing to her own sound track or to her backup singers. If you notice, when she sang her new song she had a couple of notes there where she was sliding off the deep end.

But her comedy was spot on and she did a great job. I could have done without the View skit and the roommate/boyfriend skit.

  16. WTF?!? says:

I like her, but I really don’t think she’s that pretty. Squinty eyes, bony, with a piggy little nose.
She’s not ugly, but she’s nothing special to look at.

  17. Jag says:

She was great! Made me actually watch SNL for once. lol

  18. stacy says:

shes always had a sense of humor, but it seems to be coming out more and more. I liked it, she did a great job!

  19. Maryn says:

Kimberley, Taylor only wears a size 8.5 US which is surprising for such as tall women!

  20. jack says:

I couldn’t believe how huge her feet were. And it was like she was trying to show them off for the pervs.

I don’t even want to think how bad feet that large smell.

  21. Tess says:

Saw it Sat nite for the first time and was blown away by Taylor. She was terrific. The Twilight spoof was comedy gold. The funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time.
