‘Ted Lasso’ Season 3 has a trailer, and it will premiere on March 15

Jason Sudeikis has made it clear for a few years now, that he believes that Ted Lasso is merely a three-season show and no more. AppleTV must have offered him anything, any amount of money, any perks he could ever want, and he’s still saying no. So the upcoming season of Ted Lasso will be its last. Maybe. Probably. Well, some good news: the third season is coming sooner than I thought! It will premiere on March 15th. They announced it on Valentine’s Day, and released a teaser trailer:

Spoiler: at the end of Season 2, Nate destroyed Ted’s “Believe” sign. Is this an actual preview of an episode where every player makes their own Believe sign? Or was this shot specifically for a punchy trailer? I don’t know. But it made me happy!

Spoiler-y conversation: ever since the second season, I’ve been coming around to the idea that Ted and Rebecca might end up together. I hate that there is enough foreshadowing on that, because their relationship works perfectly and beautifully as friends, colleagues and boss/employee. But they adore each other and understand each other. Well… we’ll find out soon enough. *sob*

Whatever happens, I feel in my bones that Ted ends up where his son is. Whether that’s back home coaching something there, or his son moves to the UK to be with him, they end up together.

Don’t know about anyone else. I don’t think Keeley and Roy stay together (even though I love them and think they’re a cute couple). I do think Nate will have redemption.

    • Cara says:

I totally agree that he ends up with his son wherever that is. I’m not a big fan of Ted and Rebecca together for the reasons Kaiser listed but I’m coming around to the idea. (The one thing that makes me think it might not happen was Rebecca being grossed out when talking to Sassy about Ted).

They’ve said the show follows along with Star Wars so I hope Nate will be redeemed.

    • Danbury says:

Yes I don’t think Roy and Keeley stay together either – though I do love them together!
Question though – if Ted and Rebecca get together, what about his on-and-off again fling with Rebecca’s best friend?

All this Ted Lasso speculation makes me happy – such a great show!

    • FHMom says:

I think Ted will go be with his son. Roy and Keeley will stay together. Coach will stay in the UK with the team. I also think Nate will leave Rebecca’s Ex’s team and go back to Richmond.

I’m so freaking excited about this!!

    • Becks1 says:

I don’t think Roy and Keely stay together, but they part amicably. They clearly adore each other but are just at such different places in their lives. IDK.

I can see Ted and Rebecca together, because I think they each bring out something special in the other. I love that Ted lets Rebecca show her soft side.

I am excited for this season. Last season was a big of an emotional roller coaster, the mental health discussions were very good but hard to watch because I felt so bad for what Ted was going through.

They are saying Nate is redeemed but I guess we’ll find out.

    • Snappyfish says:

Nate is dead to me. If you watch the show (season 1&2) his nastiness has alway been there. Ted WILL forgive him but I never will. His behavior towards Will & the betrayal of Ted & the destruction of the Believe sign are unforgivable on each point…all together? No redemption. Oh & Rupert IS going to fire him! I have always felt that Lasso is loosely based on Leicester’s stunning EPL winning season, which means West Ham never beats Richmond (as Leicester only lost twice all season, both to Arsenal & real life Ted & Beard are massive Arsenal fans) it’s why we were blessed with Thierry Henry last season!!

So excited for season 3 (please please please don’t be the end)

Oh I’m so happy, I’ve missed this show!

Hmmmmm, I could see an unrequited thing with Ted and Rebecca, but I agree with those who say Ted is likely heading back to the States. His son is there, and this show has been in no small part about Ted coming to terms with what he was “running” from.

Plus I always felt Ted was a bit “Mary Poppins” helping those around him to a better place and then moving on. He’s done that for the others, apart from Nate, which will likely be a part of this season (Jamie’s still rough around the edges, but well on his way to becoming a superstar. And they’ve set up well that Roy is more the person who will be looking after him going forward.)

Oh Ted Lasso speculation, I’ve missed this!! 😁

    Love it, can’t wait!

Excited for the return but it’s tempered. I HATED the Rebecca & Sam storyline. Truly loathed it for many reasons including the fact that she’s in a position of power over him as the team owner and that was never really addressed!

    • FHMom says:

I love Sam and Rebecca separately, but not together. It was a bit too out of character for Rebecca to be so giddy in love. But, we will see. I hope they all get happy endings.

      • Arbre says:

I actually loved Sam & Rebecca together, although agreed about the stickiness of her being his boss. But I love the arc for Rebecca of starting this football journey in season one out of spite and hatred for a man who treated her *terribly*, working through her hatred for another pivotal despicable man in her life (her father) in season two, and then winding up with the kindest, loveliest man in the entire show in season three. That would be amazing growth for her character and it is what I feel her journey in this series has been about.

I predict that Sam will get injured, or something else will take him out of football (and out of the power dynamic issue) and that he will end up with Rebecca, running a Nigerian restaurant and using their combined wealth to further global causes that they both care about.

The Nate storyline really bothered me last season, and so I hope that gets wrapped up nicely. I just did not feel that they adequately conveyed how his development turned the way it did. I loved the dapper dogs or whatever and was really thrown by his behavior

I love Keeley and Roy but I don’t think they will last and I’m just not sure how I feel about that. I love that she has so many opportunities but they seem to really have a great thing. I don’t see why she can’t do both, unless there is some fundamental difference on what they ultimately want as far as family, kids.

I never considered rebecca and ted getting together! I hope they don’t

    • ama1977 says:

I don’t want Ted and Rebecca together either, because I love that they are strong, supportive, caring, platonic friends to each other. Male/female friendships are beautiful and deserve to be honored.

I wish I could say that I don’t think Keeley and Roy will go the distance, but I worry that they won’t. And I LOVE the Mary Poppins comparison, esp. because the team and all of the other lovely people in the Richmond orbit have also helped Ted grow and heal, too!! I think he will wind up back with his son, whether that’s in the US or the UK or somewhere else altogether.

      LOVE THIS SHOW!!!

Oh my gosh, the song is Frank Turner! Now I have to watch this show, dammit.
