Amy Robach got a better exit deal from GMA than T.J. Holmes

Both Amy Robach and T.J. Homes are out at ABC. The investigation into their workplace affair torpedoed their careers there. Aside from theirs and ABC’s vague statements, details about their exit packages were scant. However, we’re now learning that Amy got a bigger, better exit deal than T.J. There are no specific details, but that’s gotta bite his butt a bit.

Amy Robach is the breadwinner in her new relationship with T.J. Holmes — at least as far as golden parachutes go.

Insiders tell us the scandalous and newly unemployed lovebirds each got a nice severance package from ABC News after their affair blew up their jobs.

But sources say Robach walked away with an even bigger settlement than her beau.

Specific details of the settlement remain a closely guarded secret. But another insider explained: “Amy’s been at ABC a lot longer and has a much bigger contract [than T.J.].”

Robach joined the network in 2012, and Holmes, who has had a lower profile there, came on board in 2014.

She also pulled double duty, co-hosting “GMA3” with Holmes and also appearing on news magazine “20/20” — a role sources told us she “worked really hard to get.”

Our second source told us it’s likely that the duo just got paid what they would have been owed for the remainder of their contracts and little, if anything, more. But they said, “It’s possible they could have gotten paid slightly more to sign an NDA — and to keep the peace.”

And even though we’re told the anchors are satisfied with their final payday from ABC, sources close to both are still scratching their heads and asking: “Was it worth it?”

Meanwhile, the pair, who have been celebrating their newfound free time by frolicking around Los Angeles, is now “back in New York, laying low,” the first source says.

Robach celebrated her 50th birthday on Feb. 6, and Holmes was spotted out buying luxury jewels including a $650 ring from Tiffany & Co., presumably a present for her big day.

If Amy already had a bigger contract than T.J. and had been there longer, it makes sense that her exit package was bigger. Her contract was bigger to begin with. And she did more for the network than he did, with GMA3 and 20/20. I actually hope her contract was significantly bigger because so often we see men getting paid equally or better for less work. Also, even if the numbers weren’t already in her favor, if you told me she got more because she did less wrong than he did, I would have believed it. Supposedly, Amy was already estranged from her husband when the affair began and she wasn’t the one taking advantage of multiple subordinates at work. Anyway, one of the sources said they probably just got paid for the rest of their contracts, which is nice for now, but won’t last forever, so they’ll be looking for something else soon. I wonder if they’ll do something together or try to get a bit of distance from the scandal.

    Are back in New York.
The pair are back in New York.

Who wrote this? Who forgot to edit it?!
    Is back, for heaven’s sake.

    Anyway, I’m team Andrew Shue.

ETA: I was so focused on the “is back” I missed the last paragraph. A $650 ring?!
    Girl. GIRL.

    • Christine says:

I just went to the Tiffany’s website and browsed $650 rings and…this relationship was NOT worth losing her livelihood, reputation and credibility.

    • Barbara Stanwyk says:

Oh geez…a pair can be singular or plural – in this case it’s an actual pair of people, so the article isn’t using it wrong lol.

  2. Tulipworthy says:

I have to agree with the source who asked if it was worth it.

    • Lorelei says:

Same (and I suspect that Amy will learn sooner rather than later that the answer was “no”).

He was hooking up with multiple subordinates in that office, he’s lucky he got an exit package at all. What they did together was morally gross, but what he did separately put his employers at risk for lawsuits, so of course her exit deal ought to be better than his.

I, personally, don’t believe that she was separated from her husband when the affair began. All we have is her word and Andrew Shue’s silence. There are no shades of who was worse here. Holmes’ past bad behavior is irrelevant. That said, she is a bigger name that he is. She worked on the network Evening News. She deserves a bigger settlement. I bet they will cohost an entertainment show, because at this point, who can take them seriously?

  5. Susan says:

yeah, I echo the “was it worth it” sentiment. And I knew of her prior, I didn’t know of him, but i know she had worked her butt off for years to get on 20/20. My other shady question—what kind of $$ do you think they got? Like, set for life? I guess it is all relative, give me a few mill and I AM set for life. With the jet set lifestyle (and divorce with child support, esp for him, hers are older) it prob doesn’t go far eh? And what will they do next, will another network touch them? Just curious y’all’s thoughts. I know nothing of this world.

  6. It Really Is You, Not Me says:

She worked really hard to get a role on 20/20 and blew it for this community d*? He has plenty of $$$ from the severance package so he’s signaling just how seriously he doesn’t take this relationship with a $650 ring…as a 50th birthday present….for someone who gave up her career for him. What a shame to work so hard to be taken seriously in your career and blow it all to be ride-or-die for a bozo who isn’t gonna last two years because he’s not ride-or-die for you.

To be clear, I’m not judging her for having an affair, if that’s what happened. she certainly wasnt at fault for his multiple affairs with subordinates. I’m judging the way she gave up a career that she worked so hard for.

  7. Julia K says:

He possibly negotiated a bulk price for multiple 650$ thank you rings.

    • BothSidesNow says:

Yup. When you have a community d*, you need multiple rings. Hopefully he was smart enough not to purchase the same ring in quantity but given his track record he probably did.

  8. Kristin says:

Ugh, as a professional woman I cannot fathom blowing up my career for a man. I have a feeling she’s going to discover over time that he is not, in fact, “worth it”.

  9. j.ferber says:

Well, that “community dick” must be really something for her to blow up her career over it. Isn’t it also called “dickmatized?”
