Elizabeth Debicki in Schiaparelli at the Costume Designers Awards: stunning?

On Monday, the Costume Designers Guild Awards were held, and once again, Everything Everywhere All At Once was the big winner. Per THR, “Shirley Kurata (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Jenny Eagan (Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery) and Catherine Martin (Elvis) all won awards; both Kurata and Martin are also nominated for Oscars for costume design this year.” In television, some of the big costume awards were for House of the Dragon, Wednesday (yes!!) and The Crown. I love that so many actors come out to support costume designers too, and they usually try to bring it with their style. Which is why Elizabeth Debicki made the choice to wear this STUNNING Schiaparelli gown. This is maybe the best Schiaparelli I’ve ever seen.

Cate Blanchett wore Balmain – she can always pull off these structural looks and she looks great.

Is anyone having more fun than Angela Bassett during this awards season? She wore Moschino and she looked amazing.

Holy hell, Christina Ricci pulled out an amazing look!!

Sarah Polley, director of Women Talking.

And here’s Ashley Park from Emily in Paris. EIP has some of the worst costuming in television!! Patricia Field has those women wandering around Paris in completely absurd designer ensembles.

How many more award shows are coming before The Oscars?
    Seems endless to me.

These all look like costumes to me.

That dress on looks several sizes too big on her.

I absolutely love Elizabeth’s dress! Stunning.

But I’m also so delighted to see more of Christina Ricci. She’s one of my all time favourites. She and James McAvoy are both coming to a comic expo in my province and I may attend just because it’s a Penelope reunion.

I’m going to be in the minority. I don’t like ED’s gown. The color is gorgeous and I like the fabric on her but the structure/architecture of the gown is little more than her wearing a bath sheet. It just…hangs, imo and does nothing for her.

      Totally agree! And it’s creased.

I’m not a fan either. It could have been stunning but it’s just too much. It only looks somewhat ok because she has gorgeous skin and shoulders.

    • Lemons says:

Agreed. She is stunning, but the dress is not adding anything for me.

    • lucy2 says:

I agree, she’s gorgeous, but that is not a nice gown.

I really like Christina’s, and Angela looks awesome as always.

I doubt you’ll be in the minority. 100% with you. It’s a terrible look. Honestly, there’s not a one here that’s really great.

    • Silver Birch says:

I agree that she’s lovely but the dress is horrible. It looks like she stole curtains from a Las Vegas bordello and hung them around her neck. Plus it makes her boobs look droopy!

Ashley Park is the highlight of EIP! I am so excited for her to be in the new season of Murders in the Building! (Although I hate this dress-she’s so gorgeous and should not be in such cheap, tacky getups like in the show.)

Love Christina Ricci’s look,Debicki looks good as well. Cate Blanchett’s shoulders look bonkers, Angela Basset looks like a matador and Sarah Polley looks too homespun for my taste. I’m kinda meh about Ashley Park. It reminds me of a toga. Someone noted that the Crown is getting very little love this awards season because the writers caved to the royals and whitewashed the real story for whatever revisionist nonsense they put out to scrub Chuck and Cams. What a waste of an actress like Elizabeth Debicki. Didn’t even bother to watch this season.

We still haven’t finished it (3 episodes left I think?) and I doubt we will. It is a colossal waste of the talented performers they have and not anywhere near as compelling as previous seasons.

I dislike this gown immensely. Elizabeth Debicki is a beautiful woman so the dress isn’t affecting that, but she looks like a beautiful woman wrapped in a very luxurious bedsheet. Something nice, the color is gorgeous and I love the shoulder detail.

IMPHO, Angela, and Cate along with Christina looked great. I like the dress that Ashley wore; however/although she had a leg injury, she could’ve worn boots that were actually able to compliment her beautiful dress. Elizabeth D: Not so much. The dress could’ve shown less of what it showed. . . . . . .

  7. Nora says:

Elizabeth is one of the most beautiful women in the world.

  8. Eurydice says:

I love the color and jeweled shoulder straps of Elizabeth’s dress, but there’s something out of proportion with the neckline – either the V is too deep or it’s too wide – like it was cut for someone else.

  9. Kate says:

Elizabeth Debicki is beautiful but looks older than 32.

  10. Jais says:

Christina Ricci’s dress is v cool.

  11. Lolo86lf says:

Christina Ricci wins this round. She looks stunning in her beautifully structured creation that fits her like a dream.

  12. Juxtapoze says:

Next year the Netflix show “Lidia Poet” needs to win some costume awards. The costumes on that show are amazing & so beautiful!!!

This is the best Elizabeth has ever looked on red carpet imo. I wish more celebs would wear Schiaparelli on red carpet. Met Gala is coming up in few months, Schiaparelli would be a good choice instead of boring Chanel or Dior.
