Riley Keough is ‘not talking’ to or about Priscilla Presley ahead of the estate battle

The cast of Daisy Jones and the Six has been promoting the series all week in New York. I think the Fug Girls said something like… none of them look like they’re promoting the same project, and it’s very true. Suki Waterhouse is definitely going with a ‘70s theme, while Riley Keough’s style has been all over the place, but she’s definitely not trying to look ‘70s. I also think the promotion has been off-kilter because Riley’s mother, Lisa Marie Presley, passed away just a short time ago and Riley clearly does not want to be asked about any of the upcoming estate fights. According to media sources, Riley’s publicist and the people in charge of the Daisy Jones junket have put out clear instructions to not ask Riley anything about Priscilla Presley or the estate fight. There was also this interesting piece in Page Six a few days ago:

Her appearance at the “Daisy” London premiere on February 16 was scrapped and other press outings have been carefully curated, with reporters told Keough will not be answering questions about her mother — or grandmother, Priscilla Presley.

In a shock move, days after Lisa Marie’s death, Priscilla filed a petition in LA questioning the “authenticity and validity” of a 2016 amendment to Lisa Marie’s trust and estate. That amendment named Keough as controller of the trust, which includes Graceland, the tourist-attraction Memphis mansion of Lisa Marie’s father, Elvis Presley, and 15% ownership of the legendary late singer’s estate.

Amid a report that Keough and her grandmother are now at odds, a longtime friend of Lisa Marie confirmed to Page Six: “Riley and Priscilla are not talking. Their relationship is changing, that is true … it’s just so sad. This is the time Riley would really need her grandmother.” Although the two were once close, the friend said, “Riley is seeing a new side of her grandmother.”

A source said that Keough doesn’t want it to be this way. “Riley’s not looking for a war. She always had a good relationship with her grandmother,” the source said. “Lisa had her issues with her mother, but … she didn’t drag [her kids] into [their] personal issues.”

Keough has a big legal team behind her, Page Six is told, but one legal expert said the actress does not need to file anything in retaliation to Priscilla’s filing until a few days before the April 13 court hearing in LA.

[From Page Six]

While I dislike when actors impose these limitations on reporters during promotional tours, I think in this particular case, it’s probably what the lawyers are telling her to do: don’t say anything on the record which could be used against you, don’t comment, just keep your mouth shut about ongoing legal issues. I also believe Riley’s not looking to go to war with her grandmother, but Priscilla seems hellbent on war anyway.

I feel so badly for Riley. I hope things work out. I can’t imagine contesting your own daughters will to take back what was given to your granddaughter. Priscilla seems messy AF

    • Whyforthelove says:

Right?!? Talk about salt in the wound. She has just lost her mother and her grandmother has turned out to be a hot mess of messy. She is a tough woman to be doing this tour at all

    • Kitten says:

SO. BAD. What a nightmare for her. Priscilla is disgusting.

      • BothSidesNoww says:

I agree. Pricilla should have just accepted her daughter’s wishes and stepped back. Lisa Maria’s children just lost their mother and it would be great if Pricilla focused on helping the twins instead of going after Riley by contesting the amendments.

Pricilla has her priorities screwed up, IMO.

  2. Andrea says:

This is such a sad situation. I really feel for Riley. Can’t imagine grieving your mother while defending yourself against a family member in litigation and promoting a highly anticipated show, all at the same time. Awful. She shouldn’t have to talk about her family drama publicly at all.

    • zazzoo says:

Rich people are so weird. I can’t even imagine legal matters taking precedent in a time of mourning. But I also don’t understand this challenge. Riley is Elvis’s oldest grandchild and Priscilla is his . . . ex-wife. Admittedly I’m not super interested in reading the longer explanation, but at a surface level understanding I’m team Riley.

  3. C says:

Priscilla is really showing herself in all this. Very sad.

    • Lizzie Bathory says:

I agree. It really feels like Priscilla was surprised about the 2016 update & is lashing out. I feel for Riley.

    • Nievie says:

i’m completely team Riley, but i do understand that Priscilla has major ongoing issues…albiet Scientology or the fact that Elvis bascially groomed her from age 15. hopefully it gets resolved quickly, and that Riley is able to get her grandma back.

      • Marine N. Stewart says:

Well, I am definitely on team Priscilla. I guess most of you are too young to remember all the problems and negative headlines Priscilla had to deal with over the years while trying to protect Lisa Marie, her child. I feel so sad that Lisa left this earthly world so soon but she had so many problems with drugs and alcohol and countless marriages to men who only wanted publicity and association with her father’s name and money. Please remember or learn that Priscilla built the business of Graceland and has kept it going all these years. Had she not, Lisa Maria would have been broke a long time ago. Priscilla loved her child dearly and tried to save her. She was Lisa’s mother and the wife of Lisa’s father. Riley is no more related to Lisa Maria than is Priscilla, you know mother and child and mother and child. Get it!!! Priscilla is a damn good business woman and why should what she built all go to Riley Keough and her husband and whoever else thinks they are going to get Elvis ‘money. Where was Riley, when Lisa was so down with drugs and alcohol, that Priscilla had to take and care for Lisa’s two minor children, the twins while Riley was out building her career? There is more to this story than meets the eye. But everyone is rooting for Riley because she is younger, but I and many others are rooting for Priscilla because she built up Graceland as a business and has kept it going all these years. If Lisa didn’t always get along with her mother, it was because Priscilla had boundaries and common sense. It would be a shame if Riley ends up with what Priscilla built and some man takes it away and Lisa’s minor children end up with nothing. Longevity has its place and I say hang in there Priscilla, the truth is on your side. Rest in peace dear Lisa Marie with your dear son and father who loved you so much. And that’s how I feel and I’m not responding to anyone else’s negative comments.

      • JUDY HUNTER says:

Elvis did not groom cilla from age 15, cilla mother dressed her to look 18 and sent her daughter to Elvis’s place in Germany you should be asking what kind of parent does that, one with dollar signs in her eyes, and cilla ahs said herself she begged Elvis consummate there relationship before he left Germany but he would not, cilla was almost 18 when she went to Graceland, now why not let her stay with her parents until she graduated cause her stepfather could not wait to be rid of her, he used to lock her in her bedroom and she would climb through the window and go with older boys and young men, in fact the guy she really wanted was later killed in a fight in New Jersy, she has said she was disappointed in elvis when she met him cause he wasnt the rebel she thought he was, cause that was the type she usually went after, you need to get your facts right

  4. Eating Popcorn says:

Priscilla is still a Scientologist and Lisa Maria & Riley had both left Scientology. I imagine that’s the reason Priscilla wants to get her hands on that money.

    • zazzoo says:

Okay that makes tons of sense. Cults are like drugs, you can’t expect rational thought when it comes to screwing people over to get your fix.

  5. Maddie says:

I feel like Priscilla has always had an agenda when it came to Elvis. I don’t doubt that he was the love of her life, but they were divorced when he died. She hired bad people to manage the estate for Lisa and it looks like she was taking a lot of money from it at one point. Lisa’s estate should go to her daughters, plain and simple

    • C says:

She was groomed from childhood to be his partner. I feel for her in that way, and she probably feels like she is owed quite a lot from what she had to go through. But it’s absolutely wrong to be doing it at the expense of her daughter and granddaughter.

      • zazzoo says:

I was thinking that too, but I don’t know what she’s already received from the estate in the divorce, as the mother of his only child, after he died, etc. She hasn’t gone hungry, right? Sure, Riley’s inheriting this massive legacy from a grandfather she never knew, but that’s how bloodline inheritance works. It’s not Priscilla’s legacy to take.

    • Nievie says:

its hard to have an agenda when you’re a child of 14 or 15…

      • zazzoo says:

ITA! What 14 year old would have the resolve to turn down the amorous attentions of a glamorous celebrity, especially when the parents where on board? But that’s not Riley’s responsibility to atone for.

  6. Okay says:

((hugs)) to her. Stay strong. Her mother would be proud that her handling things with so much grace and dignity. Families are complicated and I do hope her grandmother stop before she loses any chance of a relationship with them. Its so self destructive.

  7. Well Wisher says:

A very wise choice. I hope her mother’s wishes for her estate endures.

  8. Jais says:

Her mom just passed. Requesting no questions surrounding her grandmother’s contestation of the will when her mom just passed seems perfectly fair.

    • schmootc says:

It seems to fall into the category of basic human decency.

    • Charfromdarock says:

Her mother just died. It should be basic human decency to not bring up her death or any of the issues in an interview about her job.

    • Kate says:

Right? I know we all read gossip here as a hobby but sometimes you have to take a step back and realize how weird and unsettling it must be to be expected to talk about such personal, emotional stuff as part of doing your job and have to self-censor as you do it for fear of your livelihood and reputation.

  9. tatannelise says:

What on earth would she possibly have to say? The background of the legal situation has been sketched out well enough and everything is still up in the air/messy, so it’s not like any new information would be gained if reporters barraged her with questions while she’s in the early stages of grieving for her mom. I wish her the best.

  10. It Really Is You, Not Me says:

It’s interesting that she had a good relationship with Priscilla even though Lisa Marie didn’t. It sounds like on top of losing her mother and brother, she’s learning exactly why Lisa Marie had such issues with Priscilla. Team Riley all the way.

  11. K says:

Priscilla didn’t see Elvis again for 2 years after they met in Germany. She moved to Graceland in 1963 when she was about to turn 18. She married Elvis when she was about to turn 22. And it’s been said he didn’t even want to marry her, but Ann Margret instead.

  12. Teresa Melton says:

Priscilla just wants to stay relevant and she’s so stinking greedy. Elvis left her absolutely nothing. He left it all to Lisa and as such she has every right to leave it to her children. She is the EX wife. She left Elvis for another man. Now she’s even saying she wants to be buried next to him.🙄 Suing her own grandchildren. She disgusts me!

    • Eww to Pricela being buried at Graceland. Born Memphis person here. I saw Graceland when Elvis was alive. He lived in a neighborhood of lovely upper scale homes. At Christmas time it was huge to bundle up in the car with hot chocolate and go see the Christmas lights at Graceland and through out the neighborhood. When he died, the estate was so poor due to The Colonel and his father. That is not just Memphis gossip. All those beautiful homes made way for the tourism that is now Graceland. Unfortunately Pricela being buried there with Elvis and children, would drive more tourists. It’s all about money now

  13. Baily says:

I think that unless you are an estate attorney and are familiar with California and Tennessee law, that you probably shouldn’t be commenting on this issue. This site is very anti-Priscilla, and as an Elvis super fan with a lot of knowledge about Priscilla, the anti stuff bothers me. She probably should have tried to settle everything privately with Riley or at least to wait a while to file suit, but if Lisa’s amendment was improperly executed there is a legal issue to be resolved. In estate law, it is of utmost importance that documents are properly written and executed. The situation is sad to me because Riley and Priscilla need each other, and the two younger children need both of them, and it would be better for them to all be united at this time.

  14. Kay Miller says:

Riley did not know her grandfather. Pricilla loved, and lived with Elvis the way he wanted her to live. Pricilla just wants to save Graceland and the memories. Maybe Riley would sell Graceland, not having any memories from living there. Nothing against Riley or Pricilla, I do not know them. I would love to visit Graceland soon. I was a fan since grade school. I loved his music and his movies. Its hard to understand how Elvis wanted and loved Pricilla so much , but at the same time wanted to have affairs with other women. That would be hard for any women to put up with. It was not about the money when she left him. She just wanted a man to love her how she should be loved. You can’t buy love. Now its about keeping Graceland going and You need money to do that. She saved it once and she can save it again for her grandkids. I hope he had something in his will they stated Graceland should never be sold.

  15. J.Mo says:

I think Priscilla saved Graceland and the Elvis estate and wants to ensure she’s a part of preserving the legacy. She knew him and I hope she just wants to be a part of a Board. Unless she’s actually suspicious of that will, I don’t know how it would’ve been forged or who would have done it. Riley simply might not connect as Priscilla obviously does.

  16. JUDY HUNTER says:

the reason Lisa removed cillas name from her will is because cilla tried to embezzle 100million off of Lisa along with barry siegal who Lisa also removed, notice h has not contested the will at all, he knows why and so does cilla but cilla has always wanted to get her hands on Graceland even though she could not wait to leave it and Elvis and live in LA, which she did in 1970, cilla has always been a terrible mother to Lisa, she even allowed her live-in boyfriend to sexually molest Lisa for three years, even though he confessed to cilla, she let him stay and carry on, it is in his book and Lisa has spoken about it in interviews, had Elvis still been alive neither of them would have and cilla has admitted to stealing things from Graceland over the years, the woman should be in jail for what she has done to Lisa and all the lies she has told about Elvis

  17. Mayra says:

This whole thing is so sad. Money is evil, creates family fights and it’s devastating. I hope that they figure out what’s right. Riley, Harper and Finley deserve to be able to morn their mom. Priscilla lost her child and that is not easy to overcome. I pray that they resolve all this amicably. Life is short. R.I.P Lisa.

  18. delorb7 says:

It’s such a hard thing to go through.

  19. Leona Berg says:

Nobody knows what goes on in a marriage except the two people behind the closed doors. What woman could stay married to a man who ran around with so many women. When he was home it was good but when he wasn’t she knew what he was doing. Pills and women. A woman can just take so much. I think she loved Elvis very much. She wants to keep the estate like it was when they lived there. So people can come and see where Elvis lived in his day and remember him. She doesn’t want it lost to someone or something that won’t care about it or maybe even tear it down. For those of us that are die hard Elvis fans we don’t want to see anything happen to Graceland. So Priscilla do whatever you have to do to keep Graceland forever Elvis.
