King Charles and Queen Camilla were in Germany for less than four days. Their trip was successful, in that there were no gaffes, no protests, they got some good media hits and no one threatened them with a guillotine. For some reason, they made Camilla go to a German school. I guess the photo-op was supposed to be “grandmotherly Camilla interacts with cute kids,” but the kids kind of ignored her for the most part, at least that’s what it looked like in photos. At one point, the kids did ask her about horses, which is incredibly funny (to me). Apparently, Camilla told the kids that she’s too old to ride.
The Queen Consort has revealed she’s “too old” to go horse riding any more. During last week’s State visit to Germany, Camilla told schoolchildren she no longer rides but still finds time to connect with her horses.
The once-keen equestrian and horse race fan also told how she watched a video on the trip of one of her horses giving birth to a foal.
Speaking with the kids in Hamburg, Camilla said: “I used to have horses I rode but sadly I don’t ride any longer. I think I’m too old but I have race horses. Last night I watched one of the foals being born, which was very exciting.”
King Charles is an accomplished rider, but does not share the same enthusiasm for racing as his wife. It’s understood Camilla has taken over the day-to-day running of the late Queen’s stables.
I think Camilla is too old to ride as well, although it should be noted that QEII rode horses well into her 80s and even occasionally in her 90s. Still, it’s not for everyone and I feel like Camilla has had more health issues than the palace even admits. I’m pretty sure she still owns horses though? Does she still hunt? Maybe it’s some kind of bird-shooting, which isn’t on horseback? As you can tell, I would be completely lost in these aristo circles.
Here are some photos of Camilla at the German school. Camilla also wore the famous “Prince Albert brooch,” a sapphire and diamond brooch given to Queen Victoria by Prince Albert the day before their wedding. It was one of Victoria’s favorite pieces and QEII often wore it.

There’s really no such thing as “too old to ride horses”. However, there is such a thing as riding horses when you have serious osteoporosis is suicidal. That’s probably what she meant but didn’t want to say.

I think shooting (bird hunts) would also be quite dangerous for someone with osteoporosis what with the recoil of the firearms.
I saw the DM writing about this as an exclusive but I didn’t realise that it was just a matter of one of the royal reporters overhearing her conversation with some children. The Royal Family would be reported on better if they would issue better press releases prior to engagements and statements from the Royals about the engagements. They could even do short interviews after visits.
When cam+Charlie visited a theatre, Meghan and Harry could be seen as life-size cardboard figures in the window of the building across the street 😂
Considering that brooch was the inspiration for Diana’s engagement ring, I’m going to need whoever is in charge of the royal jewelry chests to never allow Camzilla to wear it again.

Diana did not wear this broach (see my comment below,) but she had loads of sapphire jewellery. Some of it Kate now wears and some of which hasn’t been seen since her death, including two massive oval sapphires in diamond surrounds, the most famous of which was a broach from the Queen Mother than she mounted as a centre piece on a 7 strand pearl choker that she famously wore with the revenge dress, and the time she danced with John Travolta.
Really? this sort of diamond frame around a coloured gem is a very popular classic style, and it’s widely reported that Diana picked out her ring from Garrard’s catalogue; it wasn’t custom. Victoria left this broach to the crown, and it seems it has been worn exclusively by queens (consorts and regnant.) QEII typically never loaned out anything she was still wearing to other family members, and she wore this item regularly throughout her life.
@Jen Garrard’s had the ring made with inspiration from the brooch and put it in their catalog and then Diana ended up picking it as her engagement ring.
Camilla wearing the jewels robs them of all mystique. Same for the whole queen thing. And God knows Charles makes a sorry looking king with his red face and short legs.
See, with something like this, I think its more about Kate than Diana. I think Kate has probably asked for this brooch to go with Big Blue and Camilla is basically just laughing in her face here.

The monarchy desperately needed younger-ish, vibrant, perhaps good-looking and overall kind & compassionate people to be their leaders. C&C are none of those things and can’t even fake it. Wiily & Kate are no better. I’m not going to smack-talk anyone’s looks, but as a whole, nobody will ever be thrilled to have Cam or Chuck in their presence – least of all children.
