Is Kim Kardashian trying to bring back the worst of 1990s denim?

Here are some photos of Kim Kardashian out and about in LA on Friday. I took one look at her jeans and I immediately felt the need to vomit out 500 words about them! First of all, I actually appreciate the fact that Kim has actually gotten into the habit of wearing more comfortable-looking clothing these days, especially when she’s out with her kids. This is her mom gear, more specifically, this is what she wears now that she’s a soccer mom (she was taking Saint and his friend to a soccer game). All that being said, these jeans are a huge YIKES. I’ve been dying for ‘90s-style denim to come back in a big way (the youths desperately need dark-washed boot-cut denim), but this is like the worst of the ‘90s. God, we really wore this kind of sh-t back in 1995. We thought we were killing it!

Meanwhile, there are a few more Kardashian updates. According to Page Six, Kim does plan to attend the Met Gala this year, despite Page Six’s BS reports that Anna Wintour “banned” the Kardashian-Jenners this year. I bet Kim goes but I doubt she’ll go with the Lagerfeld-theme. I also think Kendall and Kylie will probably go, don’t you?

What else? Kim has been single for the better part of eight months – she’s hasn’t dated anyone seriously since Pete Davidson. A source recently told ET: “Kim is more open to dating again and putting herself out there. She is feeling good and confident, and is in a great place.” Sounds like she’s going to rollout a new boyfriend for the summer. Good for her, honestly – I hope she has fun and I hope Kanye doesn’t threaten whoever she dates next. Last thing: Kim will star in the new season of American Horror Story. This season is called AHS: Delicate.

Those pants— yikes. But what about the sunglasses? Why is there a beak bridge? Seems sweaty on top of ugly.

What about the heels? Nothing says comfort like denim jeans and high heels 🫤

    • ama1977 says:

Right? The glasses are not doing her any favors. They make her nose look like Cindy Lou Who.

Also, I was a youth in the 90’s (proud 1995 HS graduate here!) and I do not remember this particular jeans trend. They’re not quite the terrible JNCOs that were inexplicably popular, they are not the super-low-rise horrors that left you debating if you actually needed your ID when you dropped it (and then forced you to contort your body down to retrieve it without flashing the bar when you decided, yeah, you do) and they are not my beloved flare/bootcuts which are actually flattering to most people. They are ugly, though. 😂

I was there during the whole of the 90s. I do not remember a style like this. What is even happening. Best I can say is it looks comfortable.

    • Erin says:

I was there too and although some people wore jeans this baggy the waist was not cinched like that. She had to have those custom made or at least taken in 10in.

I for one am enjoying the comeback of looser fitting jeans even if I still wear my skinnies but I don’t like this dirty look she has going on them either. I really wish I didn’t get rid of all of my boot cut Abercrombie jeans just a few years ago though.

      Remember grunge?

    • Mcali says:

Agree these are not 90’s jeans. Lol

    • C says:

I vaguely remember older girls wearing JNCO jeans in the mid-to-late 90s, maybe that’s it?

    • Sandra says:

The cinched waist makes them look cartoonish.

However I am in the 30s and wearing pink denim carpenter pants so I don’t know much about fashion anyway.

    • Fabiola says:

I never saw this Jean trend in the 90s

The only thing interesting about them I find interesting is seeing if Kourtney and Kim are still cat fighting. Other than that I’m so bored by their shallowness. They’ll never change, they wear stupid clothes like these pants, Kim decides if she’s going to a ritzy gala, they have more money than they’ll ever need, so why give them more air than needed?

  4. C says:

She is so annoying but I think they’re kind of cute.
People can hate but when you had your UFO pants and Globe shoes on in the hallway in middle school in the early 2000’s like I did it was still 🔥🔥🔥 (haha).

  5. Sass says:

    To answer your question: yes.

  6. GrnieWnie says:

We had wide-leg jeans, but they were all falling off our booties because THAT was the style…saggy butts, droopy jeans. Can’t say it was attractive for women and a lot of men haven’t yet grown out of it.

  7. HandforthParish says:

She’s a bit late, teen girls claimed these jeans last year.
They actually look quite cool when styled properly (as in, no heels or tight tops).

I’m more revolted by the disgusting shades to be honest.

  8. Eurydice says:

I’ll second your wish for boot cut.

  9. J. Ferber says:

    Wow. I hate her jeans.

  10. Stacey Dresden says:

I don’t like her outfit but Saint is too precious!!

  11. Sandra says:

Wow AHS has just completely given up, huh? Or they’re ok with the star of the show looking like some throwback WB teen soap star.

She is a terrible actress and her face does not move or emote. Not even mentioning the voiccce. ugh.

  12. frankly says:

After years of skinny jeans in Florida heat, I went to a thrift store right after the pandemic ended and got several pairs of completely out-of-style, ragged, off-brand, baggy jeans. I’ve never been so happy. And honestly, my teen was like, “Those pants are cool.’ So, win-win. Big-azz jeans, pegged legs. Heaven.

  13. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

Emmi, the 90s are still my favorite decade, and I’ve never seen nor wore anything remotely like that. We hung out on 6th Street in Austin rocking out to all kinds of grunge, rock, Texas Rock, etc. Guys might have worn something like those, but never seen those on a woman that I remember lol.

  14. HufflepuffLizLemon says:

Camilla Cabello had very similar pants on at Coachella with corset tops. It’s happening lol.

  15. Jeanette says:

I think Kourtney has become my least fave Kardashian..but this outfit outweighs that..Used to love Khloe..not so much anymore..

  16. JustMe says:

Why do they look so dirty though?

  17. 411 from down under says:

I live in Aus and am interested in these sunnies (for sun safety on my nose)!
