Duchess Meghan is supporting an Alliance of Moms campaign in LA

This photo is from the Instagram of Kelly McKee Zajfen, co-founder of the Alliance of Moms. Alliance of Moms is an LA-based non-profit which works to support the LA County foster system, specifically for foster kids who are pregnant or already parents. Apparently, Zajfen is friends with the Duchess of Sussex, and Meghan is supporting a new Alliance of Moms campaign. This is a great way for Meghan to support the causes she cares about locally, and it’s cool that we’re finding out about this work not through Archewell, but through Zajfen. This is what Zajfen wrote on her Instagram:

As Mother’s Day approaches, I can’t help but think of my own #commUNITY of Motherhood. I instantly think of you Meg. How incredibly nurturing and warm and open you are. What an incredible friend and mother. I’m truly in awe of you and I am so grateful you are part of my #CommUNITYofmotherhood.

You are always the first to say yes and support those you love. You are a fierce advocate for those who are in need. Thank you for joining this year’s campaign to support LA’s expectant and parenting foster youth, which helps provide critical services, education, resources and advocacy so they can build a better future for themselves and their families.

Please join us in this year’s very special campaign and purchase your t-shirt to support in the link in bio. Don’t forget to tag @allianceofmoms so we can shout from the roof tops how amazing you all are for supporting this wonderful community of mothers.

You can see the Alliance of Moms’ online shop here. The t-shirt Meghan is wearing in the photo costs $40 – a good price for supporting a good cause. And we know that the Sussex Squad likes to raise money for charity too – recently, the Squad raised thousands of dollars in a donation drive for Archie’s birthday. I’d be willing to bet that Meghan is doing a lot more for Alliance of Moms than just buying and wearing their t-shirt!

Alliance for Moms is a great cause. Happy Mother’s Day to all moms!

    • kirk says:

You can make a straight donation to Alliance of Moms, a 501(c)(3) org, if you already have too many shirts in your closet. Happy Mother’s Day!

Oh no, how dare she advocate for something only a week after the con. Interesting that while the royals are still releasing embiggening photos from KC’s overpriced celebration of himself, Meghan is campaigning for others.

    • Debbie says:

The contrast really is stunning, isn’t it?

    • Smart&Messy says:

You know she only did this to pull focus from the piano recital. Whenever Kate is about to usher in worldpeace, here she is pulling focus smiling in a t-shirt. (Sarcasm)

    Love this. ❤️

She’s a person who puts her passions into action. I really do love and respect Meghan for that. Bringing awareness for the better and not just for show.

  5. Southern Fried says:

What a wonderful organization! I hope many many communities have this or something similar. I’m thrilled to donate today, this Mother’s Day. Meghan’s championing charities not so well known has changed the world of so many deserving people.

    • BothSidesNow says:

It is an exceptional program as I wasn’t aware of it until today. It seems that with the involvement of Meghan of any organization, it sends these programs into the stratosphere of worldwide attention and donations as well!! I love what they said about Meghan as it is always the truth with how Meghan is fully supportive with her heart and the rest follows!!

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone!! It’s directed at everyone as I know that each and everyone of you has been a beacon of support, guidance as well as unconditional love to women that enter you’re lives!!

      • Blithe says:

This does sound like a wonderful— and truly needed program. I, too, am learning about it for the first time here, and I love Celebitchy for highlighting ventures like this. Yay Meghan! It’s beyond cool that my original interest in Meghan’s sunglasses is also leading me to learning more about much-needed community resources. I, too, hope that there are similar programs in other areas. I’ve worked in low-resourced communities in multiple cities and understand how important programs like these can be to support the well-being of vulnerable kids in tough situations.

      • Christine says:

I wasn’t aware either, and it’s in my area! I am going to look into volunteering, foster kids who are parenting or pregnant is not something I have ever even thought about, but wow, is there any group more worthy of time and attention?

I can’t imagine being a parent in the foster care system, the insecurity of the foster care system is hard enough, but to add your own child to the equation? My heart hurts thinking about how hard that must be.

Gah, Meghan always makes me cry.

This is EXACTLY how the BRF was supposed to work: by leveraging the celebrity and popularity of their members for good causes. By visiting charities and nonprofits, volunteering for a day, encouraging others to donate by offering donations, and thereby bringing attention to worthy works. Forget what Meghan could have done for the BRF — think of what she could have done for the United Kingdom. What a terrible, terrible tragedy for the UK, and what a loss for the BRF.

I tried to donate and the site insists on a monthly or annual donation.
Just take my $100 and let me go on with my crappy day. (Sorry – md not a happy day for me)
I’ll have to go back to the site later and look again. Because it seems like a great cause to donate to.

  7. Amy Bee says:

I love this and it’s also good to see her friends support her.

  8. caitlin says:

Love how Meghan takes meaningful action without a lot of fanfare and “look at me!” “look at me!” cough, cough

  9. Meghan says:

Gotta finish the whole article but I swear, much like my beloved Obamas, I’m gonna love Meghan til the day I leave this Earth. It’s like no matter how many causes she supports, she supports each one with her whole heart. (Which is, of course, how it should be done)

I will say it a million times- I am honored to share a name with her. Even though I was named for Meggie Cleary (IYKYK).

  10. Eurydice says:

Looks like a great organization and I’m loving Meghan’s stealth philanthropy.

  11. Mary Pester says:

@catlin, yep Megan does “supporting great causes” and Khate does wiglets and piano

    • Lady Digby says:

Agreed Mary. Meghan is helping others while Kate is helping herself. It is ironic isn’t it that Meghan remains an activist whilst PoW appears to be desperate to break into showbiz!

  12. Beverley says:

Happy Mothers’ Day! 🌸🌼🌺 I’m buying a shirt. Big love to those who plays a key role in nurturing youngster. Many thanks.

  13. B says:

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms! One of the joys of following Meghan is learning about so many charities & initiatives that exist and benefit people from all walks of life. It really gives you a lift to know how many people are out there helping others.

I never thought of how needed an organization like this would be. If you are a foster kid who becomes an expectant mother OF COURSE you need community and help. You don’t have the usual social safety net.

Truly a worthy organization being highlighted at the right time of year!

  14. tamsin says:

The two Sussex toddlers have raised over $70,000 for Kaboom in a fundraiser organized by Sussex Squad. That was really just Archie’s birthday. They haven’t really started on Lili’s yet. I think May is going to be a Meghan month, but I would bet that the Sussex kids’ birthday might be able to raise enough money to build an entire playground all by their own little selves. It’s an interesting contrast, that on the same day as Grand-pa’s coronation which cost taxpayers in Britain hundreds of millions according to reports, grandson’s existence is helping other children. Giving back starts very young when you are Harry and Meghan’s children. I believe during another Archie birthday, money was raised for vaccine equity in his name.

    • Barb Mill says:

They raised over $100,000 for World Central Kitchen for Archie and Lilibets birthday last year.

  15. Nlopez says:

I will never get over Uvalde. I’m so glad Meghan is helping them🥹!

  16. Jasper says:

Happy Mother’s Day to all. (Seriously, I have to check my grammar, because I keep wondering if it’s “Mother’s Day” or “Mothers’ Day”. I’ll figure it out.)
Kudos to Meghan for advocating and supporting those in need whenever and wherever she can. Even at times when she herself is feeling some strain, she still pushes through for others.

  17. Maxine Branch says:

I so love Meghan’s authenticity and how she follows her on path. Philanthropy is at the heart of what she and her husband does and I so love this for them and the causes they support.

  18. L4Frimare says:

I went and bought the T-shirt as soon as I saw the post. Her participation definitely brings awareness to these causes and organizations. The Sussex Squad did a phenomenal job fundraising for Kaboom. They’re building another playground in Uvalde, this time at a school. It still pisses me off how people thought Meghan visiting the Uvalde memorial was some sort of publicity stunt, as macabre as that sounds. Meanwhile she spoke to people there, offered support and worked with Kaboom to bring playgrounds to the community, which was sorely lacking. I think so many want to pigeonhole them into mere celebrity fodder but they do so much more and follow their own unique path.

  19. TangerineTree says:

I just bought the shirt. : ) Meghan really brings these organizations to light! I am so glad to learn about Alliance of Moms and to support them on Mothers’ Day. Thank you, Meghan, for everything you do for others!

  20. Sass says:

I know this piece is about Meghan but her friend who started this org has been through the unimaginable this past year. (I was interested to learn more about the org so I went to her Instagram). Her 9yo son passed away unexpectedly in September. It’s all I can think about right now on this Mother’s Day knowing it’s this woman’s first without both of her children. I’m gonna go hug my two teenagers so hard right now.

  21. blunt talker says:

I am so glad Meghan can do charity work that she truly enjoys doing-this is the kind of charity work that makes her shine brightly-she is letting her little sunlight shine.
