Donald Trump arrested & arraigned on a 38 count federal indictment in Florida

After years of feeling helpless, after years of feeling like Donald Trump really was going to get away with all of his crimes, this year has been an embarrassment of riches. We saw Trump lose in civil court in E. Jean Carroll’s lawsuit against him for defamation and sexual assault. We saw Trump arrested and arraigned in New York on state charges involving the hush-money payment to Stormy Daniels. And now this – Trump arrested and arraigned on a 38-count federal indictment in Florida. Donald Trump was arrested for the second time this year, and arraigned for the second time this year. Once again, they didn’t put handcuffs on him and he was able to turn up to the arraignment with his Secret Service detail and a Faux Melania in tow.

Former President Donald J. Trump pleaded not guilty in federal court in Miami on Tuesday to criminal charges that he risked disclosure of defense secrets and obstructed the government’s efforts to reclaim classified documents he took with him upon leaving office.

After arriving from his nearby Doral resort, Mr. Trump was booked and escorted into a 13th-floor courtroom at the Wilkie D. Ferguson Jr. U.S. Courthouse in downtown Miami in a scene as surreal as it was momentous.

Inside the courtroom, Mr. Trump — wearing a dark suit and a red tie — sat with his arms crossed at the defense table while the magistrate judge overseeing the hearing described the indictment. One of his lawyers, Todd Blanche, entered a plea on Mr. Trump’s behalf. “We most certainly enter a plea of not guilty,” he said.

Nearly two and a half years after leaving the White House, Mr. Trump — twice impeached, previously charged in an unrelated case in New York, still under investigation for his efforts to retain power following his loss in the 2020 election, but currently the front-runner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination — began the legal process of defending himself against 37 counts lodged against him in the documents case last week by the special counsel, Jack Smith.

[From The NY Times]

Trump’s personal aide/valet Walt Nauta was also arraigned on Tuesday but he did not offer a plea, mostly because he doesn’t have his own counsel yet. Nauta is being charged with lying to the FBI, hiding boxes of classified documents from the FBI and scheming with Trump to commit even more violations of the Espionage Act. The judge told both Trump and Nauta not to discuss the case with each other, which… LOL. They went out to eat afterwards.

Trump also doesn’t have a dedicated legal team in Florida at the moment – while he was taking meetings and trying to hire some new lawyers on Monday, he ended up coming to court with some randos and one of his New York lawyers. The case has been assigned to Judge Aileen M. Cannon, a Trump-appointee and some kind of Trump devotee. So… wow.

Trump also turned up with his son Eric and the Fauxlania I mentioned. After the arraignment, Trump stopped by a Cuban restaurant and made a scene.

LMFAO! Our apologies, that was not Melania Trump. WTaF? Why is a woman in their entourage styled *exactly* like Melania for a big media event? 🤣

    • ML says:

That was so funny! And the commenter speaks so s l o w l y. If you have a Fauxlania, why on earth announce that she’s not the real one?

    • Felicity Fox says:

There was a published photo of Melania leaving a dentist’s office in NYC, so it was obvious that she was not in Florida. She must’ve forgotten to stay home and hide.

      • zazzoo says:

I’m so curious about her agreement. I assume there’s a massive pay off for her to stay with him and not turn witness, but what are the penalties if she doesn’t play along with this fauxlania business?

  2. Nanny to the Rescue says:

The only way this could be any better is if it were a 45-count. That would be some crazy poetic justice.

  3. Seraphina says:

What is hilarious is Trump does not have a solid legal team so of course his aide cannot even find counsel. And last night an attorney who declined to be on the legal team basically said it was due out of his own moral obligation to his firm. THAT says a lot. And not only did Trump go out yesterday but he went to a fundraising rally and admitted he had the boxes. Too legal experts were at a loss as to why he won’t STFU. But the bigger and deeper the hole he digs for himself the better.

    • Brassy Rebel says:

Folks are still surprised that he won’t STFU?

      • Seraphina says:

It’s more the legal experts because he keeps incriminating himself and they wonder if he is getting sound legal council. Regular folks know he can’t keep his mouth from vocalizing his ever thought.

    • Lucy says:

I read something that he’s specifically looking for young/youthful looking lawyers. Nothing says taking this seriously like trying to “cast “ his lawyers.

      • Seraphina says:

He thinks this is his TV show and it’s all about looks with the public opinion.

  4. Carol Mengel says:

The only thing keeping me from doing my happy dance is if Trump is in prison, then Nazi DeSantis will become the Republican candidate. And he’s even worse than Trump.

    • Lucy says:

He might be, but he’s so weird and terrible he can’t win the general. Trump ppl won’t vote for him because he’s not one of them, he’s too weak to even say trump’s name right now. Independents look at Florida and see the awful. He’s only going to get the folks that always vote republicans no matter what. That’s not enough.

      • FloridaWoman says:

I sincerely hope you’re right because he’s putting us all through heck here in FLA, and nobody’s stopping him because he’s stacked the legislature and courts in his favor.

  5. Truthiness says:

Nauta has a lawyer, paid for by Trump. He is being arraigned on June 27.

Jack Smith sat front row and watched Trump the whole time, while Trump refused to look around the room at all. Scared? Tish James, NY Atty General, also said Trump refused to look at her once in their proceeding. Coward.

  6. Brassy Rebel says:

Trump is just so weird that no one even talks about the fact that he has impersonators for his wife. It’s only like the fiftieth weirdest thing about him.

    • SIde Eye says:

Lol @Brassy Rebel! You are so right! Omg what a wing nut.

Anyone notice his hand in the first pic? Not how small it is or the liver spots but the cluster of veins. How the hell is he still alive? Quarter Pounders and Big Macs had one frigging job to do. One job!

    • zazzoo says:

When did the Dems stop having dynamic young candidates to rile up the youth vote? Obama is not the only smart, interesting, attractive Democrat over 35. Is he? I realize this isn’t the year to be running AOC or Stacey Abrams, but mygawd I miss having a candidate who makes me feel like the world is changing for the better.
ETA: AOC is only 33, but point remains.

A traitor, an apparently self-hating rabbi, and the sort of “Christian” leaders whom Christ himself would’ve whipped off the temple steps walk into a restaurant…

    • Truthiness says:

💯. Trump is back to his reality tv roots. Very staged and scripted, this could be on on Bravo. For a person who isn’t religious he makes sure to throw red meat to the religious crowd.

Judge Cannon was raised by her Cuban mom in Miami. Getting prayers in a Cuban bakery in Little Havana makes sense as a campaign stop but he’s also appealing to the judge’s roots.

    • bisynaptic says:

Ugh. There’s a Versailles, near my home. I used to love the food.

  8. Lucy2 says:

LOL at the Fox News guy bring like “There’s Mel…a…ni…a” as he totally realized that was not her.
Considering old dumpy used to create a false personality to brag about himself, I’m not the least bit surprised he has body doubles for his wife, who so clearly hates him she didn’t even show up for court when he was being indicted on 37 federal counts!

  9. Sue E Generis says:

And yet he still walks free doing and saying whatever he wants.

  10. Mrs. Smith says:

It’s such a relief to see DT getting hammered with all these charges and it’s not over yet! Georgia and J6 are next. As we’ve seen, our patience is required and I fully expect Judge Aileen to slow-walk this trial every step of the way. Regardless, I applaud Jack Smith and team for delivering an indictment for the ages. My prediction is that 45 will keel over before he sets foot in an actual prison. But I’ll take it!

  11. Jan says:

The Judge in NYC gave the lady that Trump assaulted the go ahead to file another lawsuit for Defaming her, he is down 5 million already.
Trump and Nauta are to stay away from one another only communicate through lawyers, the Judge should be enforcing his own rule.

  12. HeyKay says:

Geez. Can’t we ever get rid of Trump?
I do enjoy the protester dressed in the convict stripes, including hat. 👍

Trump pleads not guilty, then goes out to a popular restaurant. He has NO shame at all, just ego and bs.

  13. frenchylarue says:

You KNOW that fata** bounced before paying for lunch.

    • CooCoo Catchoo says:

LOL I thought the EXACT same thing!

      • Burpsy says:

        “Food for everyone!” He said.
“…which they’ll pay for out of their own pockets!” He thought to himself as he slithered out of the restaurant.

  14. Renae says:

I have absolutely no faith in the courts to do anything with this vile creature. The case will be slow-walked by his lawyers and that unqualified judge he appointed.
He is already being treated with kid gloves : judge didn’t take his passport; put no restrictions on his travel etc.
He only needs ONE juror to make it a mistrial and he’s extremely popular with those in Miami-Dade and West Palm Beach (where the jury will be pulled from).
Its taken almost 3years to get to this point. Anyone else would have been through about a third of their sentence by now. Sigh.

    • KC says:

Not only that, even IF he were to go to jail he can still run for president and win and hold office. This is just performrative.😤

  15. Eve Vane says:

I was watching the regular network coverage of the news and I was shocked about how little they know about the case. There was enough dead air time to discuss the drama behind the scene but it’s obvious no one did their homework.
I watch different you tube political news with lawyers explaining the case. Most of them have court documents.
I could have jumped on the news to break down the case better than most of the reporter.

  16. Lisa says:

what’s to keep him from burying the real one next to Ivana and keeping this step ford meds assoc model ?

  17. Lynne says:

Vote…..we need to get out there. Only when maga start losing the gop primary elections will we see change

  18. Lizzie Bathory says:

I can’t get enough of this. It’s a very bad sign for Trump that they still haven’t nailed down Florida counsel or attorneys with experience in national security matters. And Trump will not be able to abide by the pretrial condition that he must refrain from talking to witnesses–basically everyone around him are witnesses!

My guess is that eventually Cannon will be off the case before it goes to trial. I get the sense of helplessness, but this man is going to prison. And he’ll be stunned when he’s finally punished for something.

  19. KBeth says:

He’s such a disgusting lard ass.

  20. phaedra7 says:

And another thing: Take-A-💩 feels that he “had the right to take those documents”! Had the right to take CLASSIFIED/CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION pertaining to NATIONAL SECURITY? He is DEFINITELY INSANE! 🤪

  21. J.ferber says:

Saw Hilary laughing uproariously about this. Full on joy. I got you, Hilary. Enjoy the hell out of this, please.

    • Mrs. Smith says:

OMG @J.Ferber — I saw that Hilary clip!!! She is SO delighted! It made my day to see her reaction to all this.

  22. Wardo says:

Joe Biden needs to tried for high crimes, misdemeanors, murder, and least of all TREASON!!!!!!

  23. phaedra7 says:

Many of Take-A-💩’s supporter-minions are TOTALLY DELUSIONAL! On one Twitter feed [that I can no longer locate (thanks to E. M.?)], an UNHINGED-sounding woman was speaking with a reporter (she was one of his many supporter minions standing outside of the Florida courthouse). After being shown pictures of the plethora of boxes of confidential boxes in T-A-D’s bathroom, she remarked “That there’s a HOAX! That’s not Donny’s bathroom–those are in Biden’s house!” {W. T. F.? 😫😖} These folks are soooooo MESSED-UP MENTALLY that they would and are promoting along with shielding T-A-D’s reputation in addition to not wanting/ wishing to distort the true facts into dis/mis info! 😡 #THISISINSANEAF!

  24. Diana says:

And while everyone’s focus is on this, our country is falling apart. It is too obvious why this happening. Prayers for our country.

  25. Lenny says:

Have fun trying to run for President now crook!
