I’m not sure if the first season of Loki was all that popular or successful, but I know people did watch it and there are a lot of fans of Tom Hiddleston-as-Loki. The first season gave the “god of mischief” his own stand-alone show and adventures, and the supporting cast included Owen Wilson, Sophia di Martino, Richard E. Grant, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and more. In the final episode (?) of the first season, the show introduced Kang, played by Jonathan Majors. Majors was cast in the role a few years back, before it was widely known just who Jonathan Majors really is. Majors was arrested in March of this year for brutally assaulting his girlfriend, and reportedly, this was not the first time he’s abused people. Almost all of the Majors’ films and projects got shelved indefinitely… except for Loki Season 2. Marvel/Disney had already shot everything with Majors for Loki Season 2 when he was arrested. So how will Disney handle this? Well, the first trailer for Loki dropped on Monday:
Most of the trade papers were like “look, they included Jonathan Majors in the trailer, they’re not worried!” Yeah, but – Majors was supposed to be a big part of the story, wasn’t he? And he’s barely in the trailer. My guess is that Disney already significantly shaved down his role as much as possible in post-production. Hopefully, they added more screen time for Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan, because it’s lovely to see him join the Lokiverse.

Disney has made a huge blunder by not having a spin-off Aligator Loki season.
I’m not watching it and I let the MCU go a long time ago. Side note, I keep trying to find good Loki romanrotica (spicy romance) and it’s so hard to come by. 🙂 That is the real travesty here 😄

I know a little bit about fanfic culture and though I am not into Marvel in that way, I just knew that Loki would be a prime candidate for the fanfiction crowd 😀
Yeah I keep my reads to Kindle or KU. I’m not big into fanfic. I found a couple of books but one was really not my favorite. The author does spicy humor and yeah not tye vibe I wanted. The other was more of an RH with each God as a separate book.

I’m about 6 movies behind when it comes to Marvel, and I doubt I’ll watch most of them, but I really enjoyed S1 of the Loki series. The entire cast is great and there’s plenty of humor to go with the drama.

Although I’ve started to be disinterested in Marvel movies after Thor 4 and Antman 3, I loved the first season of Loki and will watch this, hopefully the quality of the second series is as good as the first one. And let’s cross fingers Mayors’ part was cut a lot after what came to light about him.

What I’ve seen in the Loki-/Hiddlesverse is that people are excited for Season II.
I really liked the trailer (the pie, the costumes, the Lokius quips!), and am looking forward especially to seeing Ke Huy Quan and more of Wunmi Mosaku and Gugu Mbatha-Raw – besides the main characters TH, OW, SDM. Keeping my fingers crossed that there’s not much of JM in the finished product.
When I went back to watching the trailer a second time, I read somewhere that it got a million views in the first hour on Marvel’s YouTube channel, and Loki was trending on Xwitter even in my (non-English speaking) home country.
Season 1 was a huge hit. Season 2 looks great.
I have no idea how much Kang is/was supposed to feature in Season 2. But they show is called Loki and Tom Hiddleston is Loki so of course he’s the main feature in the trailer.
I’m also hearing that Kang isn’t the only villain in the series. Plus, since this is a multiverse and there are variants that can look different. It would be super easy to recast him.
Do people really resnet Loki 2 for Majors being in it? He, unlike many abusers, was disocvered later and dropped immediately. It’s not like he is shielded by Hollywood like many others are. Being in Loki won’t help him.
Yeah, but he has NOT been dropped by Marvel and is signed for future projects. I think they are waiting for the trial before deciding. Trial starts this week. I haven’t watched anything Marvel since Majors was arrested and Marvel has never made a statement in regards to it. I don’t have an issue with them using what was already filmed but my support of anything Marvel in the future is going to depend on what happens in the trial and what Marvel does moving forward.
So no, Majors had not been dropped. He’s still signed to be the big bad in the next phase of Marvel.
